The food is decent for a decent price. It's not too far of a walk for us, and we decided to check it out. The slices of pizza are enormous, and the specials are solid. I got the Tuscan Chicken Sandwich and the calamari, and my partner got a couple of slices. The sandwich was ok - a bit bummed the bread was cold for a hot sandwich, but the flavor was good. The calamari was a bit on the rubbery side, and sadly came with cocktail sauce instead of some of the house marinara. Again, decent but maybe not something I would order again. Natalie was a bright spot and super nice, and she made us feel at home. She took great care of us when everyone else seemed sort of disinterested. Even wearing a mask, you could tell she was smiling, and she just had a great attitude and seemed to genuinely care that people were taken care of. Natalie rocks! So we went here to get a quick lunch, and were very disappointed. We ordered two salads and a DETROIT STYLE pizza. We waited for about 30 minutes for the pizza, before we asked what was taking so long. The cashier told us that the pizza typically took an hour plus, though they did not tell us this when we ordered. They did tell us that they would speed up, and eventually brought out a pizza. When we pointed out that the pizza she brought out, which was round and resembled a fake deep dish pizza, was not a Detroit style, she gaslit us, saying "oh yeah it is what you ordered, just circular". The pizza itself wasn't good at all, and had way too much cheese. Also the place itself was for some reason really cold. They have ample tables that could easily accommodate different group sizes. - The staff is very friendly no matter how busy the restaurant gets. Cons: - They don't stay open that late during the weekday so it makes it hard to do a late night pizza run. - The food is hit or miss. I recently had a sandwich that was essentially an Italian beef with mariana sauce and cheese on it. The beef was so dry that it was crumbling and it was tasteless. I don't usually do this but given the decline of this once pretty decent pizza place after its expansion and my need for a reminder to never buy their product again, I will let you in on my experience. I asked for pie cut, they sent bite size, it was over an hour before it got here. The pizza was so soggy the driver had to tell me to put my hand under it or the box would collapse. I ordered "The Works" pizza you could hardly taste the green peppers and it had a sour taste like someone sprayed lemon juice on it. Not the quality I expect for over 50 bucks. Since they opened the Granville "Bakehouse" the Western avenue location won't deliver to me after ordering from then since I was a teenager. Oh well there is always Golden Crust on Kedzie. I recently visited Pete's on Granville because my husband and I were considering them for catering and wanted to sample their pasta dishes. We ordered the fettuccine with added chicken and the baked lasagna with meat sauce. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. When our food arrived, the bread fell off my plate into the server's hand. I expected it would be discarded and replaced, but it was not. There was also no butter provided for the bread. The baked lasagna was flavorful and enjoyable. However, the fettuccine was a huge disappointment--so much so that it was left virtually untouched. After several employees walked by without checking in, I finally requested a box for the lasagna and mentioned how disappointed I was with the fettuccine. Since we had come in specifically to evaluate them for potential catering, I expected some effort to address the concern--whether offering another dish to try, asking for feedback, or extending a small gesture of goodwill. Came here with my boyfriend per his recommendation. He did say it was much better his first time which was a couple years ago. He went in as I waited outside with our dog and chose the type of pizza. I went in after to see and they do have different options for slices and I appreciate that. I'll start by saying that their wings are really good and we went on a Thursday where the deal was 50 cent wings (must buy a minimum of 10). Such a great deal on some yummy wings and they have different flavor options but we chose buffalo. The pizza failed us - specifically the deep dish. The pepperoni one had chewy crust but I enjoyed the sauce and cheese. The deep dish was sausage and everything was fine until I saw the dough of the crust wasn't fully cooked. I ordered a pizza and it took over two hours to get an updated. I called the pizza shop at 8:55 pm and they told me the pizza was on the way; however by 9:20 pm there was still no pizza and no update given the pizza shop was less than a 20 minute drive away. I am thoroughly disappointed with the service given that I called multiple times at 9:15 but was taken directly to the voice mail and could not get a hold of anyone to get an update on my pizza order. First of all, a major shout-out to Eddie, the Manager, for making us feel so very welcome as first-time guests. Thank you, Eddie, and your assistant, this afternoon. The food was superb and fresh! The Mozzarella Sticks as an appetizer were fresh and gooey with cheese, a light breading, but seasoned to perfection, along with warmed marinara sauce! The Greek salad was very authentic and yummy (the house dressing was the perfect compliment). Then the tavern style pizza, The Works was generous with the cheese and the other ingredients and fresh out of the oven to our table. Oh, forgot about their in-housed baked chocolate chip cookie that has chunks of chocolate. One more thing, what a CLEAN restaurant. Bonus points!! Well, since Armand's on Western Avenue closed, we have been at sea trying to find a place in our delivery range (Lincoln Square) that does good thin crust, tavern style pizza. So we thought we'd try Pete's. We ordered a medium cheese pizza with additional mushrooms, sausage and black olives, which is our go to for a tavern style. It was so disappointing in every way, it barely merited being called a Chicago tavern style pizza, let alone actually being eaten, which we did because we were hungry. The crust was a flavorless cracker dough, there was just a suggestion of cheese on it, the Italian sausage pieces were bland coins of nothing, the tomato sauce seemed like it was tomato paste straight from the can, the mushrooms were undercooked, and the black olives were the only thing that seemed edible. My grand daughter and I have lost faith in Pete's Pizza Resturant on Granville & Kenmore. About 4 years ago my grand daughter and friends 6 people, went there 5 yrs ago. To have a pizza day out. As upon leaving I felt a little dizzy so my grand daughter now 10 yrs old helped me to the car, ( I had brain surgery before where my weakens came from not the food). As getting in the car she forgot her purse, it was found later and placed in the office by a waitress. Upon calling to retrieve it, another waitress said, it was not there in the office. She had no money in it but, all her favorite different pins she had collected through the years were pined on to her Jean purse. Now they was gone including her purse. This is my autistic little girl now a young lady of 13, who couldn't understand theft. She trustful, and loved going to Pete's pizza place for most of her life, she wanted marry Mr Pete, as a little child. (6 yrs she was learning to order her pizza from Pete's Pizza) Now this happened. Now we don't order from there anymore. No more pizza from Pete's. What ever you do please make sure you don't forget your things before leaving this place. Because you won't get it back ever. I normally don't post reviews like this. But it was an absolutely horrible experience. I ordered 12 jumbo shrimp with fries and a side of calamari. When I've ordered in the past from the pizza on Western, they always give me cocktail sauce my order arrived with no cocktail sauce, and I called and the manager said she would send it out right away. almost 45 minutes later, the driver arrived with the cocktail sauce. By that time, my shrimp and calamari was cold and unable. I don't know if I will ever order from them again because sending the cocktail sauce didn't fix the situation and I live five minutes from the restaurant. Ordered jumbo wings for delivery last night. I'm all for good, crispy wings. But sometimes what I want is a big, fatty, saucy wing from a pizza place and these jumbo wings are mostly that. First of all, be aware that if you're ordering for dinner it will be like an hour for delivery. I do not live far and it was still an hour. It was worth it but maybe not if you're super hungry. These wings are jumbo. They are no joke. I only ordered eight and I stopped around five (then ate the other three like an hour later). I got them tossed in BBQ sauce with ranch on the side. I really appreciate the different options they give you. You can have the sauce on the side, extra sauce, less sauce. I like having the option but I want them tossed in my main sauce. The bbq sauce is sweet. A little too sweet. And doesn't have any of those fun, smoky flavors that are in some other bbq sauces. There is like a hint of a spice to it. It is not by any means spicy but there might be something to it (either that or I was just desperately looking for other flavors). I was disappointed to not see buffalo wings on the menu. They do have hot wings. I might try those next time. Some of the bigger wings had some spots where it just got a little over cooked. That detracted from the experience a little. All in all, not bad. It is quite popular among Loyola students as it is sandwiched between the Granville L stop and the Lake Shore Loyola campus. They always have customers inside, and it is popular among locals as well. The price per slice is fair considering their slices are huge. I ordered a pre-made cheese pizza slice. None of the other toppings particularly caught my eye. First off, I think they use good quality ingredients, but the proportion was off. A little too much cheese on the pizza, which overpowers the sauce and the crust. The crust is crunchy and pretty thin, but not as thin and crispy as true NYC thin crust pizza. I do appreciate they top the pizza with cheese all the way out onto the crust, that there practically isn't a border crust. Very fast service, and they are open until midnight or 1am on Fridays and Saturdays, meaning it's a good place for some late night pizza. Luke warm delivery, a little over cooked, but Why was there a $7 delivery surcharge on my medium sized pizza order? I live only 2-miles from the Granville restaurant.
