This is by far the worst brunch experience I've had. My uncle and I were excited to try Petite Chou for Sunday brunch. The reviews on the menu and experience really talked this place up. Our experience was the complete opposite. First, our waitress, that volunteered to take our table and the table behind us, was not attentive and was very slow. Second, we were seated with a bottle of water for the table, and we had to ask the waitress for glasses so we could drink the water. Third, the waitress's other tables who requested glasses and dining utensils after us received glasses and dining utensils before us. We had to prompt the waitress a second time to receive the glasses. We waited more than 45 minutes after placing our order to discover that the order was lost in the kitchen. The mistake was not acknowledged by our waitress but by another waitress. The second waitress offered complimentary items to accommodate the error and checked in with the kitchen. We were informed that it would take them 30 minutes to bring the food to the table. Maybe Petit Chou has good food, but after this experience, I am not interested in trying their food again. read more

I have been here a couple of times around 2019, the food and coffee were amazing! We decided to stop back 2025...everything was awful! The service was horrible, very fake, they don't come back, and when you are clearly done they will either walk past you and not say anything or look directly at you and continue to dust mugs off (there was only on other person eating at the place). We got an oat milk latte, it was so bitter we could not drink it and I'm not one to pass up coffee. The food....just bad, unless you enjoy cardboard. It was such a waste of time and money. Great place for brunch with friends but I recommend you carpool as parking is limited. We sat outdoors with heaters and enjoyed our time with great food and company. Staff was friendly while providing recommendations for us. The waffles would be great if protein was added on already vs as an option. The breakfast bowl was also great but the dresses arugula kind of makes it tangy when you blend the bowl together but still great! Loved this place. You know that feeling when you're searching for a restaurant and there are so many nearby that it's difficult to choose? I was going through that yesterday. Settled on this spot and walked right in. It's laid back, relaxed, and unpretentious and the food and drinks spoke for themselves. I had a sandwich called the Sarah-witch and it was delicious. Shaved ham, brie, apple slices, homemade preserves on a baguette. The preserves were an orange-pineapple blend and were super fresh. I also had a french toast creme brulet which consisted of a butter croissant soaked in heavy cream, covered in fruit, sugar, maple syrup and a butter that I think was cinnamon flavored. For real...who comes up with this stuff? My friend and I could have eaten 2 of these. My friend ordered the French onion soup and the roast beef sandwich and said that both were great. The food selection is different online than in the restaurant--which was a disappointment. I came only looking at the online menu and didn't see what I wanted in the restaurant menu. My food experience was not the best because I asked for eggs Benedict -- but it comes with pancetta (I asked for a substitution as I'm a vegetarian-- but didn't get it). I had to ultimately just remove the bacon and leave it on the side. Was not a pleasant experience. :( There may be better options for non vegetarians. I really enjoyed getting brunch here. The parking situation can be a bit tough. I was lucky enough to snag a spot in the main lot, but it was pretty full and there aren't a lot of spots available. So there's a good chance you'll have to drive a street over and park along the roads that run behind it. It was pretty busy, but this place a smaller than other big brunch places in ATL and therefore I think avoids the massive crowds that flood them on Saturdays and Sundays. Everything that came out looked delicious. I got the French Toast and some coffee. It was great, but I'd probably get something less bready next time. All of the egg meals looked wonderful. Everything was clean and the outside patio was nice even in rainy cruddy weather. I would definitely go back since other brunch places are so hard to get to on the weekend. Perhaps my newest favorite brunch place! I came with a friend I met at a Yelp Elite Event. We came on a Sunday at prime brunch time. I got lucky and got us a table without any wait! Just 5 minutes after there were several people waiting, so if you don't want to wait or have a large group, definitely go early. FOOD: Everything on the menu sounded fantastic. They incorporate greens which I really appreciate as a trying-to-eat-healthy person. My friend and I shared the Avocado toast and Eggs Benedict with pancetta, which came with a side salad. I was very impressed with both! The presentation was nice, and the taste was quite good. The avocado was generous and came with a bunch of arugula and a poached egg. I loved that the eggs benedict came with pancetta. The side salad was very fresh and I really enjoyed the dressing. Reasonable prices as well! SERVICE: Our waitress was very kind and attentive. She gave me her recommendations when I had trouble deciding and had enthusiasm for the food. They did ask us to leave when we were still chatting over coffee, but I think that's understandable being that it was Sunday morning and they needed the table. AMBIANCE: Very cute! There's not a ton of space on the inside -- there's a few tables and bar seating around the middle, which is a bar space. I've been here for brunch 3 times now, and the food and experience has always been great. I most definitely recommend coming here for brunch. The Croque Monsieur is one of the best I've had, and the outdoor scenery is pleasant. Curious about their dinner service, I visited one Friday evening and was not impressed at all. Although the cocktails and appetizers were nice, they were out of most of their sides and entrees on the already small menu. Despite the fact that there were only 3 other tables having dinner that evening-- the meal took 2 hours to receive our entree. I had to go in and ask about the food; our server was friendly but not very present. After all the waiting, my duck entree was very raw, way beyond medium rare. My date's fish entree was also underdone-- the batter was not cooked and it was quite mushy. I would not recommend coming here for dinner-- stick to brunch. I probably won't be back for either for a while. I want this place to do well, it has a lot of potential! They were out of the French toast so I got the waffles instead - I was sad at first but totally got over that with the first bite. They were incredible. The bacon wasn't anything special but was good. My boyfriend got the American Breakfast with potatoes and chicken sausage. I had a bite of the gravy on the biscuit and it was really good. We walked to Petit Chou, and they were able to accomodate us for brunch, with only about a half hour wait, which isn't bad at all for Atlanta, and on a weekend too! They have bar seating inside, and also patio seating. We opted for the patio seating. It's a covered patio and it was such a nice day out. The restaurant is by the road, but the area is quiet and calm. There were veggie-friendly/healthier options available to fit all my friends' dietary preferences. Loved the biscuits and the jams that they come with. Everything I had at Petit Chou was fresh and delicious. The prices were fair and service was great. I can't think of anything really wrong with our experience. I give this simple bistro 4.5 stars rounded up to 5. Petit Chou, pronounced "petite shoo," is French for little cabbage. This is a small cafe/restaurant serving a variety of coffee, tea, and housemade beverages along with farm-fresh French and American Southern food. The business is locally owned and independent. It opened in Cabbagetown, a small neighborhood east of downtown Atlanta, in March 2017. Originally serving breakfast, brunch, and lunch, the restaurant may be open for dinner service by the time you read this. The restaurant is located at the corner of Memorial and Powell in a standalone, light-blue-painted, brick building. Free parking is available on the property's nicely paved lot. You can also street park on Powell (also free). Since opening, this restaurant has become a neighborhood hot spot. Our group of 7 visited for a Saturday morning breakfast with reservations booked for 8:30am. It was quiet before 9am. By the time we left around 9:45am, it was loud. Every table was taken and there were people waiting outside. This place is popular and for good reason. There's not much to the place. Inside, there's a rectangular bar in the center of the space surrounded by tables. There's a covered patio outside with picnic tables. I guesstimate the bar and dining room can seat roughly 30-40 customers and the patio 20. The interior looks like it was designed with repurposed materials. There's a garden outside with a variety of flowers and other plants. It wouldn't surprise me if the floral centerpieces at each table came from the garden. The atmosphere was casual, inviting, and unpretentious. The staff and clientele were eclectic. During our visit, there were 9 items on the breakfast menu, ranging in price from $7.00 to $10.50. They included items like chicken liver mousse and Boursin (French cheese) and avocado toast. The kitchen uses free-range eggs from Beulah Farms (northwest Georgia), sources local produce delivered daily, and serves sprouted grain whole wheat toast and housemade buttermilk biscuits made from ingredients from Southern Swiss Dairy (east Georgia). In addition to the menu, there was a small selection of pastries in a display at the bar. They included Danishes, palmiers (butterfly-shaped pastries), muffins, croissants, and more. Cafe drinks are also made with ingredients (milks) from Southern Swiss Dairy. You can get an espresso for $2.75 and an iced mocha or latte for $5.25. Petit Chou makes their own Madagascar vanilla bean syrup (+$1). There's a rotating selection of craft beverages, each under $5, including drinks such as a strawberry and anise hyssop soda and a blackberry and basil limeade. I tried the biscuits and gravy ($7.50) and a croque madame ($10). Petit Chou serves a croque monsieur too ($8.50) with the only difference between the two being the croque madame is served with a poached egg on top. Both entrees were delicious. The biscuits and gravy were among the best I've had anywhere in terms of both taste and presentation. Generally, all of the dishes served were plated and presented cleanly and beautifully. Petit Chou's biscuits and gravy are made with a creamy and savory chicken sausage gravy and each biscuit is topped with a poached egg. Overall, this was a well balanced dish. Both the biscuits and gravy were delectable and one did not overpower the other. The gravy was satisfyingly addictive. The croque madame was meaty and flavorful. It's a grilled ham and cheese melt made with Dijon mustard, Gruyere cheese, and one poached egg. It comes with a small side of dressed greens which, in our case, was chard (I'm pretty sure). The sandwich was easier to eat with fork and knife. The stacks of ham were a little salty (not uncommon), but tender and quite tasty. My favorite part was the smooth and nutty Gruyere and I enjoyed the fresh, crisp, and dark leafy greens as well. Some of my friends ordered the Cabbagetown breakfast bowl (a grits bowl with cheddar, meat, and vegetables; $10.50) and the "Morning Biscuit" (chicken biscuit with poached egg; $5.50) and they looked excellent. I also tried two drinks: an iced chai latte ($5.25) and an iced vanilla latte with soy milk ($5.25 + $0.50 for the soy milk). Originally, we tried to order an iced mocha ($5.25) with soy milk, but it wasn't possible to order a mocha made with soy, so we were offered the vanilla latte instead. It was made with the housemade Madagascar vanilla bean syrup and turned out to be fantastic. It's Petit Chou's iced latte ($4.75) plus the vanilla syrup added ($1). After a break of 2.5 years, I've finally come back to re-visit Petit Chou, and I'm thrilled to see that it's as good as it ever was. Really enjoyed the Cabbagetown Bowl: I got mine with grits and chicken sausage, and it was very good. An option to add more sausage would be great though. Also got The Great Chou// **in George Costanza voice and arms waving** BiiiIIIIIiiigggg Salad! It's veritable cornucopia of ingredients that has probably covers every vitamin and mineral you'll need for the next week...but it's delicious. Four of us headed to Petit Chou after an hour of playing with kitties at Java Cats Café, not too far down the road. There's a small parking lot next to the building, and we snagged a spot in there instead of having to look on nearby streets. It was early on a Saturday afternoon, and there was a short wait so we killed the ten or so minutes by wandering around in the cute flower garden by the parking lot. We elected to sit inside since the sun was beating down with a hot vengeance. Both the hostess and our server were really friendly and cool. I ended up ordering the sparkling mint lemonade, which at $4.75 was a little pricey, but it sounded really choice considering the July temps outside. Getting this drink turned out to be the correct decision. A lot of the other house beverages were appealing; the GA peach and ginger soda also earned raves. My main dish was the Cabbagetown Breakfast Bowl ($10.50). The bowl consisted of grits with cheddar, several strips of crispy bacon (my meat selection), a poached egg, arugula, and tomato concasse. The tomato concasse was chopped tomatoes in some sort of fantastic vinegary dressing. I was satisfied with the bowl overall. Nothing too earth-shattering but a solid brunch right there. Reasonable portion size too. Two people got the croque monsieur ($8.50) which looked really stellar. The compliments it received had me thinking I should've ordered that. Well, next time for sure. I had a bite of the biscuits and gravy ($7.50), and that dish seemed promising too. We noticed that the chairs are pretty heavy. The website says they were custom built for Petit Chou by South of Urban since the restaurant wanted furniture that would match the surroundings and not look/feel cheap. Neat! Several craft beverage choices. And a full suite of coffee-related drinks. - Lavender lemonade: refreshing, interesting taste and not too sweet. Fairly expensive at $4.75, though. - Chicken sandwich: easiy one of the best chicken sandwiches I've had. Warm, juicy and tender chicken wrapped in an equally warm bread roll (a baguette they say but that evokes a crustiness that I didn't find) - Biscuits and Gravy: luscious sausage gravy over two biscuits with two expertly poached eggs. I just don't think you can find awesome quality French food like this at this price in many Atlanta establishments. Plus, you can make reservations for the patio if you feel more comfortable eating outdoors these days. I don't understand why more restaurants aren't accommodating with that. But Petit Chou is, so let's support them! We came on Thursday, and they had half-price bottles of wine. We had a lovely rose for the table, and I absolutely devoured my lamb, which I ordered with a side of wild mushrooms. It was great. Just a side note... the patio is situated close to their dumpster... so if you're sensitve to smells, you may want to sit inside. The service was not exactly speedy, but were weren't in a hurry. Love love love this spot! Came in for brunch today with my fiancé around 9:30. It was already quite crowded although they just opened at 9. They have limited parking so get there early! We sat inside. Masks are required to enter! The inside is super cute. We sat at a table, but they also have bar seating which is first come first serve. They have a bit of outdoor seating too. Our waitress came over quickly with water and took our order for coffee. We both got the French toast casserole. I love French toast casserole so I was so excited to order this. The serving size is very large! We probably could have split one and got 2 sides of bacon. We did get one side of bacon, but it only had two pieces. But it was still tasty! The French toast itself is heavenly. It's made with croissants so it's flaky and buttery. We both didn't finish ours, so we brought some home. The other items on the menu (the biscuit sandwich, breakfast plate, and more) all look so good as well! The staff is all very friendly and helpful. What a great place! read more
