This store is alright, I don't like going in that much because there's this guy there that still works there even after what I told the manager. His name is Brandon and he is white, skinny, brown hair, like in his 40s and he helped me get and learn how to take care of my lobster which really helped and he told me if I have any more questions I could get his number and ask anytime. Which I asked so many questions then so it made sense. Instead I got his Snapchat. Then as soon as I leave he messaged me that he thought I was cute and to go out with him. I was so disturbed. I had so great service because he wanted to be in my pants... Now everytime I go and he's there which is more than half of the time he stares at me all weird cause I blocked him. Was looking for a buddy for my sons hamster for his birthday called the store which they told me they had ton of Robo hamsters which was the exact breed we needed for our partnered hamster . immediately the girl tells me we have ton Robo hamster's so I make the 35 minute drive find that there's two hamsters in a Robo container labeled which end up not even being a Robo hamster but a Siberian hamsters which almost killed our little Robo hamster at home . So here I am making another drive to return the false purchase. Luckily The man at the pet land in Beavercreek was helpful to let me know it was wrong breed and we purchased the right kind a Robo highly suggest them over this one I should've known when I read the previous reviews on this store that they have no idea what they're doing before taking my chances. read more

This place should've closed down long ago. I can't emphasize enough how awful the conditions are for these animals, large and small. Their puppies are housed 3 to a small enclosure, with maybe a blanket and a toy to share amongst the three of them. The Robo Dwarf Hamsters are housed in the dozens, several of them you can tell are lethargic or neurotic from stress. It doesn't help that the Dwarf Hamster enclosure is accessible by small children, and too often I've witnessed small children grabbing at the hamsters, lifting up their hides, and stressing the animals out. Never mind the fact that females and males are mixed together, and I saw a few pregnant hamsters among the groups. After not having been there for a number of years, I decided to go there in search of some supplies for my mice. The workers were less than helpful. But, on a whim, I decided to bring home a Campbell's Dwarf Hamster, who, the worker was incredibly insistent on it being a male (spoiler: it's a female). One thing to add: once hamsters become adults, they RARELY will tolerate cagemates. Hamsters are solitary animals. And this guy was trying to get me to buy this hamster a "buddy". After I refused, he tried to sell me the smallest wheel they sell. Another thing to add: the smallest wheels aren't suitable for any rodent, no matter the age. He didn't seem too happy when I refused that too. Fast forward to today, I find myself a glutton for punishment. I went back today with my daughter, because we were in search of some treats. I counted the number of robo hamsters in one enclosure. There were 25. Some of them were fighting, some clearly had injuries. I mentioned it to an employee, she said "oh, ok" and walked away. Literally did nothing about it. A small group of teenagers were picking up the ferrets and running around with them (I wish I was kidding). The employees couldn't be bothered, they were too busy trying to sell their $5500 French Bulldogs. Like I said, this place should have closed down years ago. I don't regret rescuing my hamster, but I definitely regret giving them "second chances". read more

My girlfriend and I had been looking for a puppy for months. We had trouble with other places giving us the runaround. Petland was super helpful and Informative. We were able to adopt a wonderful and beautiful puppy who we've named Harley. This Australian Shepherd is so beautiful, very clean, she even trimmed his nails before we left. She also helped us get the right size harness and made sure it fit before we left . Connie covered all the bases for what we would need in order to bring a new puppy into a loving home. We will definitely be coming back possibly to bring home a brother or sister for our puppy!!!!! read more

They will lie to you and tell you the puppy is purebred and that they come with AKC registration. If you check out the certificate from their "local breeder," it doesn't say Dog Breeder, it says Dog Broker. In other words, the broker buys puppies from a puppy mill and delivers them to pet stores like Petland. Please, before you decide to buy a puppy from here, look up why it's wrong to buy from Petland. A simple google search will go a LONG way to keep you from wasting your money and energy on a puppy that will just get sick and die on you within the first year. That lifetime warranty only credits you with in-store credit to buy another puppy if something happens to the one you originally purchased. No refunds. The chances of you getting a healthy pup from this place is slim to none. I mean it. I'm speaking to you from experience. I bought a puppy from this place and was fooled beyond my imagination. I can't believe I did it and am ashamed. Please don't make the same mistake as I did. It's a costly mistake, financially AND emotionally. read more

HORRIBLE!!! My husband and I visited the store this evening right around 7pm. There were 4 employees all standing around in a circle talking to each other while shoppers went without help. We chose some items from the "bakery" and looked around the rest of the store before heading to the register. Mind you we've been here about 5-10 minutes and still not a word from any employees! We made it to the register and waited almost 5 minutes with ZERO SERVICE!!! That was even after asking for assistance to be rung our. We left our chosen items at the register and just left. Do not do business here, so many other options for great products and outstanding customer service. The owners/managers of this location should be ashamed!!! read more

We found a great little mixed breed Malti-Tzu (Teddy Bear) here and they had her marked down from almost $4000 to $388 (WOW) And she was adorable. She was the third puppy we played with and I fell in love. For the puppy immediately following they made us switch booths, then went to sanitize the one we had June-Bug (yes we took her home) in. This fact will matter later, pay attention. She said call first thing Monday (6/5) Or we would be hard-pressed to get an appointment to be seen. They are known by the staff of Petland to be short-staffed by their own employees! (Again, this will matter later) In the car ride home she had labored breathing, I figure its because of stress and stuff. But, I had my new furbaby and a TON of other things they suggested I buy with the dog. Once we were home I had to clean her up, her eyes were caked in fur and boogies but I was told that eye gunk is common for this breed. (Not the actual wads of hair chalking in her eyeballs) She had mats in her back legs due to poor grooming and her hair was a little stained from stepping in her doodoo and generally being a puppy in a caged situation. 6/6The vet they required us to go to in 4 days did not have an opening in that window so I scheduled her first check up on 6/15- a new puppy should be fine for a bit longer than 4 business days, I would think. Anyhoo, I decided to give her a cut so she didn't look all goopy for her first visit and her labored breathing was even more evident so I called the vet again and asked if this was normal in toy breeds. He said he would check on it during her visit because an incubation period is something like 7 days give-or-take for ---symptoms--- (---keyword) to present. I thought this was acceptable, because Petland would never sell me a sick dog, right? 6/13 she falls asleep next to my head and deep in her little chest cavity I hear a noise that does not sound good. It was after hours for the vet so I called first thing the next morning. When the receptionist was able to relay the message I got call back asking if I could bring June-Bug in for an emergency visit, just to make sure everything was all right. So, on 6/14 at 10:40 am June-Bug was admitted to ICU pending diagnostics/blood/panels/etc. 6/14 we find out her white blood cells (should be between 5-15 thousand depending on dog) was over 71,000!!!!! Her left lung is filled with fluid, she has pneumonia, and this is not a 'new' infection. These things take TIME to develop to this degree. (We are way past symptoms, we are at acute respiratory distress) 6/17 Junie is stable enough to bring home, but this is where the story becomes less than appealing for those faint of heart. Remember how I noted when some facts would later be important! This is why you should NEVER buy a pet from Petland, especially at York Commons. They KNEW she was sick, and first didn't have the courtesy to admit it, and 2nd had no regard for the other animals I have in my home. I have been in contact with their corporate office, I can't imagine what will come of this. Nothing will take away the impact of this facility and what they have done to my family as a whole. 15 days ago June-Bug came to us from Petland. 5 days ago she was admitted to the emergency room for respiratory infection. 21 hours ago June-Bug came home from the vet. 9 hours ago she ate her last meal. 5 hours ago she was rushed to an emergency clinic. Right now I believe I am watching her last breaths. She stands, she falls. Sweet brown eyes stay on me, so I won't go far. I saw redemption in her from first sight, to save a loving memory of my mother. Her cries break my heart, stumbling for some passable comfort for she is weary and can not sleep. Suffocating in every breath. I am at a loss. She is here with me now, and I am not going anywhere. She lived a mere 18 weeks, mostly alone. I wont let her leave that way too. She deserved better than this. With all my love I am begging she lives through this. To Junie, I suppose I found you for a reason, my heart is no stranger to sadness. The world sent me to you when I thought I needed you most, when in fact you needed me. I am happy you don't have to do this alone, in some Petland cage with no heartbeat to soothe you. Let me start off with I have nothing against pet stores. This is not why I'm giving this specific petland store, a one star. I'm giving it this review because this specific location legitimately is just horrible. At least, my experience was. Not only did they block me from posting/commenting on their Facebook page when all I did was tell my experience, but they also deleted my post. Why would you try to hide a customers bad experience? That's entirely dishonest. So I go in, looking for a baby male rat (as a pet). I ask the cashier if she could please show or tell me where the baby rats were. In the most monotone voice I've ever heard, she says "yea...." and just starts walking away. I follow her, since I assumed I was supposed to. She leads me to some ten gallon tanks, with zero airflow, just absolutely filled with white feeder mice. She said, "here they are..." again, so upbeat and chirpy...not really. I again asked her to show me where the male baby rats were since those were not rats at all, but mice. She actually had the audacity to tell me they were indeed rats. Baby rats. I think, as a rat owner and previous snake owner who fed the snake mice...I'd know the difference between a rat and mouse. Oh not according to this happy go lucky employee. Those white feeder mice, were definitely rats. I was dumbfounded. Luckily, the baby rats were right next to the mice, in another ten gallon tank with no airflow. And mixed sexes, so I'm sure the girlies in there were nice and pregnant. I walk over and point to the tank and said, "well here's the actual rats...and I need one of the males.". She then rolls her eyes, oh yes, clear as day as if I just insulted her ancestors. Huffed and puffed and almost blew the house down. It was just ridiculous. I got my rat. I hope she got whatever it is she needed that day, an attitude check and a quick education course in rodents for starters. Sadly, I did not let that deter me from going in again at a later time. Or it could be it's the only pet store that sells what I need. I'm going with the latter. The next time I go in, is for a hamster. I understand the whole trying to upsell the customers thing, but again, stop acting like we are ignorant beings who know nothing about these animals we are looking at! I tell the employee I have everything for a hamster and she gets annoyed and huffs off because she can't sell me a cage and a ton of unnecessary accessories. This store needs to work on its employees. That is the biggest issues...the employees. read more

I'm giving Petland two stars. Mainly because I do not agree with stores selling puppies. The cages in which these puppies are 'displayed' are so small that they can barely walk around and play. Another thing that negatively caught my attention is that the small animal cages stunk like urine and feces. Some of the habitats were over crowded with animals. Males and females were fixed in together. I do believe that the pet rats are breeder quality rats, or the ones that I saw were. I ended up taking a male rat home. But 20$ is a little steep. But he was worth it nonetheless. He was almost too young to be sold. He was stained with urine and poop when I got him. Take better care of your small animal habitats, don't treat those puppies like shelf produce, and get more helpful staff. I drove from Springboro Ohio because this was the only petstore that sold rats. But I will not be returning anytime soon unless changes are made. read more

We paid $3200 (not including supplies) for a SICK PUPPY MILL PUPPY. I love my pup and wouldn't trade her for anything, but come on!! Petland has big ad campaigns against puppy mills, and are buying their pups from Amish breeders known for being puppy mills. We will NEVER buy another dog from a pet store again. I paid $3200 for a puppy from here and first of all he has a parasite, which can be contracted by humans and i am pregnant so i am not going to be happy if i get it! Second, he was advertised as a pomski (pomeranian husky mix) but his mom is pomeranian and his dad is an American Eskimo so he's not even what I thought he was and they knew this when they sold him because its in his records! Lastly, one of his testicles hasnt dropped and he will need surgery to remove it so it doesnt become cancerous and this they knew about as well it was in his records but they didn't go over any of his records with us! If I could rate them a 0 I would!! They are refusing to do anything about it and i am not happy but I am not going to send that poor puppy back there because he is scared to death whenever we go there to get his food! So something was obviously going on to make him that scared of that place! read more

I went to this location to purchase a puppy, after speaking with the sales rep who no longer works there my wife and I agreed to pay $800 upfront and to be financed for the remaining $2500 and a one time $60 fee. I asked the sales rep and confirmed there was still no interest for 24 months as we previously discussed and he confirmed no interest. We continued to check out upon paying for our puppy I asked for the financial information and payments, we were advised they would mail the information to us. After a week of no mail I called the petland location and got the information for for vive financial and called them myself. I was then informed by vive that my mailing information was incorrect and there was a 29% interest rate which equals out to be $1029.08. When calling the petland store location I was advised to call their customer service team (solutions) after weeks of continuous calls I was advised I "signed" and agreed to the terms. The only proof they could provide is a scanned copy of my Initials saying I'm a "card holder" and where the signature is required stating I agreed to all fees and interest there is no signature and no information in regards to interest being charged. Customer service / the store manager Jeff and corporate all now refuse to help correct this issue even after acknowledging there was wrong doing on their part. They have offered me $500 which admits fault however I am asking for the full $1029.08. I have already filled a complaint with the BBB and still no attempt by petland to resolve this issue after weeks of continuous effort on my part. read more

Stopped in here just to browse for cat supplies and walk off our dinner at Smashburger and were kind appalled. It was smaller inside than I expected. There was a window/kennel area with all the puppies on display that were SUPER cute. I couldn't help feel bad for them though; they looked so sad and their crates looked like it had been a while since they were cleaned; visible poop and pee in them. Maybe the sad-looking thing is a ploy to get the animals purchased, however, I feel like they were neglected; never getting to get out of those filthy crates and get some love and attention. While we were looking at the dogs and cats on display, a bright yellow [pet] bird flew past us almost beaning us while we walked. We looked around stunned, wondering how the bird escaped; there were no employees around and the bird was trying to fly out the front door of the store... it was kind of crazy. Finally an employee came around and my husband said that there was a bird flying around inside the store and she didn't seem concerned at all. There appeared to be bird droppings all over the floor as if they just fly freely throughout the store all the time. In other words it didn't seem very orderly or well maintained. At that point, we decided to leave without even looking at the cat supplies. Won't be going here again. On a personal note, I would never purchase a dog or cat from a pet store such as this one; I only adopt from shelters and rescues. read more

Stopped into Petland out of curiosity because I am from out of town, and where I am from puppies are no longer allowed to be sold in pet stores. A man asked about a price on a puppy, and I almost fell over when the person who worked there said $ 2500.00 dollars!! When she walked away I said to him, " You could buy a German import for that price". Scandoulous!! Also went in on Thursday, and saw a sick puppy. Went in the next day and there was the same sick puppy, with a obvious respiratory infection, breathing rapidly, listless, eyes practically glued shut, and blowing snot out her nose with each breath. It is obvious the people who work there just don't care. It breaks my heart.....buyer beware. These puppies more than likely come from puppy mills. read more

I'm giving Petland 1 star and would give them 0 stars but can't do that. But it's because I bought a little Zuchon puppy on 12/09/2018. Which was part of my Christmas gift from my boyfriend. We paid around $3400 for him. He was suppose to come with a lifetime warranty. As long as we did as we were suppose to with him. Well he passed away on Christmas Eve 12/24/2018 at only about 14 weeks. We rushed him to the Animal Emergency Hospital MedVet to try and save him. Which cost us another almost $900. We also paid another $143 for cremation and for a Urn for him. We are not positive what he died from. We thought maybe he got a hold of one of my meds. But anyways we did everything humanly possible for the little guy. I fell in love with him and it broke my heart when he passed. It also ruined my Christmas. Anyhow they are giving us the run around now about getting him replaced as part of his warranty. He had been to their vet for his checkup as it is required. There is nothing more we could of done. I don't recommend buying a pet from this company if they do this to their customers that already have a broken heart from losing the puppy and now won't do their part. read more

Second I was all into coming in a adopting a pet today4/21/2015, but after the nice young lady told me everything they offer with adopting a pet it sounded even better. But then the next question, how much????? When she told me my mouth dropped to the floor, yes the dog was full blooded,but even then i still wouldn't pay 2200 for a dog!!!!! this is ridiculous!! This is just adopt a dog. How is anyone ever suppose to adopt a pet when the price is more than a house payment. Seriously??? I will be taking my business else where. read more
