I first transitioned to JFFD after my vet recommended it for my senior dog who had pancreatitis and needed a low fat diet. I was able to give my dog a quality life for almost a year and a half after being diagnosed thanks to this food. I would bounce between Hepatic Support (Rx needed) and the Fish and Sweet Potato - whichever was available because they were often out of Hepatic at the time. Fast forward to the next senior dog we adopted and I decided to also put him on the fish and sweet potato after he began having gastrointestinal issues from another company's chicken blend. I learned that beef and poultry can be an allergen to dogs. I tried the venison JFFD had, but it upset his stomach. Thankfully the fish and sweet potato was a success, as it was for me before. Since moving to the area I was so happy to have this store nearby. They always have what I need in stock and product quality never disappoints. Previously I would purchase JFFD at Petco but often found insane amounts of crystalized ice (almost like freezer burn), so when I defrosted the food it was extremely watery and liquidy. I have not had that problem at this store and feel quality control is much better here. read more

Their dog food is freshly made. They are generous about providing sample for my dog to try. Also their staff is knowledgeable about diets. I believe that they do custom diet when you bring in blood work and schedule a consultation with their veterinarian nutritionist. read more

The customer service here is awesome! Super helpful and informative! I started my dogs on this food as they get fickle every so often. One dog lives this food and one is okay with it. I really love the customer service at JFFD and they truly care about our pets. My slightly overweight and older dog has a sensitive stomach and they worked with me to get him on the right program. When something didn't agree with his stomach, they allowed me to exchange it for something else (even an open package). I love JFFD, but more importantly, so does my yellow Labrador. She has been on the macaroni and turkey food for about a year and is doing great on it. Tonight I stopped by to get my dog's two-week supply and was greeted by Gary, the store manager (not sure of his title). He is delightful in every way: super knowledgable about the products offered, always has a grin, and welcomes me every time I come in. I walked into the shop tonight just behind a lady who was returning an unopened food supplement because her elderly dog recently died. As I waited my turn, I watched Gary deftly deal with the return, while being respectful of the woman's grief and her recent loss. What a gem he is. If I ran a business, he would be by number one employee. If you're not familiar with JFFD, drop by and meet Gary, pick up some brochures, and get your dog a few sample treats. We have been customers here since they opened the store. Our dog got sick on their Turducken dog food this January. It was a contaminated batch of their dog food from one of the ingredients. When I received the e- mail from them announcing they were experiencing a Listeria contamination problem I realized the food they sited was the exact food I had been feeding my dog. I wrote back via their "customer care" email address which did not get a response. After going into the store to explain the situation they refunded me the money for all the Turducken food I had purchased. A couple days later I received a call with an apology and message that they had also credited my account for $100. So although they were slow to react they finally did. Thankfully my dog recovered and he is fine now. I will not purchase any more of the wet food items as they are a higher risk for contamination by bacteria. read more

This isn't for this location but your new one, which I was invited to via email. The email was a reminder to check out the new location and it came with a free meal. I walked into your store and there were two tables with note pads on them. There were two (possibly) manager or owners by the computers talking to each other (no greeting from them). I walked in to a new concept dog food store to what I was able to take away from, (since no one had the hospitality to explain anything) an over priced dog supplement store that also sold dehydrated chicken skins. All of which were over priced nothing a little trip on Amazon prime couldn't remedy at a cheaper price point. My main issue was the lack of meet and greet though. I've made lesser eye contact with a girl at a bar with better results than this group. What I walk away with are many thoughts "lack of knowledge of your own product" "Not proud of your own product" "We aren't ready to be opened" I can go on. I also walked away without my free meal because I didn't even care anyone for it or the service. Which should be your biggest red flag "if the company doesn't care, why should the patron." LOVE THESE GUYS!!! Their food is just so good. I swear my dogs stage hunger strikes if I run out. My mom had a dog with numerous health issues and they were able to make a special recipe for her that worked out perfect. They are also quite charitable which won my heart from the day they opened in Newport. One of my dogs is 12 and I feel because he was raised on thier food, he looks and acts much younger. Always friendly staff for sure! Great quality food with generous chucks of meat in every bag. I would give 5 stars but 2x they were out of stock of my dog's flavor. Kinda of a bummer, but now I know not to cut my supply too low before re-stocking. One other note, they say you can change flavors with your dog will no ill effects, which was not the case with my dog. I was referred to JFFD by my Vet Dr Ryan at Estrella Animal Hospital as I had recently adopted a young kitten from a trip to Puerto Vallarta. Ross was there the day I walked in and spent so much time with me giving me information ect, how to feed her, How to defrost the bags you name it! His customer service was excellent and he was so kind! My kitten Kiya who is not a meowing girl just goes nuts when it's feeding time! She also has kitten kibble that she will eat between feedings but just meows her little head off and eats every bite! She has gained the weight she needed and her coat is just beautiful with little shedding or dander! I will continue to feed her JJFC as I find it is no more expensive than any other quality cat food in the can but JFFC is so much better as it has none of the fillers and other junk in canned foods. I saw an article in the OC Register that free calming supplements were available for 4th of July. This was my first time coming here. The customer service was really good. I picked up a sample of their calm supplement for my dog and I am really happy with the results. She was calm for the fireworks but not knocked out. I was also referred to JFFD by my newest vet (tried a few different vets in hopes one would have a solution to a lengthy and recurring gastrointestinal problems both my little Yorkies were having). I was hesitant to try JFFD because I didn't believe it was a food issue they were having. However, after speaking with my boss, who has been a loyal customer of JFFD, and her insistence that this food changed her dog's life, I gave it a shot. My two little ones (including my picky eater who I had to hand feed daily) just devoured the sample my vet had given me. The customer service with Michelle at this location was like no other. She listened to what was happening and spent time explaining all the different options, including all the supplement options they had. I really liked that she recommended we take it slow first with finding the right flavor first (venison - best on sensitive tummies) and then we can move into the supplements. Received a personalized note the following week checking in to see how my girls were doing. I read up on the company and continued to be impressed. It's been over a month and it has been a miracle cure!! I haven't had to take off of work because one of them is sick and they have more energy and are much happier! It's a bit pricier due to it being fresh food but it has saved me countless monthly vet visits (costing between $300-$500 per visit) and just seeing my fur babies thriving is worth every penny! My 17-year-old cat Ernie literally was on his last legs. While he was still eating he was very steadily losing weight to the point where he was probably 6 pounds. It got to the point where he would only eat this wet food that was a bit like junkie fast food but he still kept losing weight and was deteriorating. I have been buying just food for dogs for my dog now for a while and it has helped him become healthier and lose weight. I kept asking them when they would develop a food for cats as well. Finally they are selling a cat food so I bought some out of desperation. Due to the immediate and urgent nature I did not transition him and started him immediately on the just food for cats diet. He did have diarrhea initially but very quickly was able to consume massive quantities of this food and has begun to put on weight! He cannot get enough of this food and the ingredients in it really tackle the dehydration issues that so many elderly cats get. This food literally saved the life of my cat who was on the brink of dying. I highly recommend it. read more
