I recently adopted the most adorable puppy from an animal shelter, and was very hesitant about bringing him to the Banfield Animal Hospital. However, after meeting with the staff and nurses, I was comforted and decided to give it a shot. I feared that going to a pet store vet would be the equivalent to going to a fast food restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised--they take their time and seem to genuinely care!! I purchased the wellness plan (I pay about $30/month and it includes all vaccinations and all office visit fees), which ends up saving a lot of money in the long run (especially with a new puppy who needs to come to the vet very often!). As I'm frequently in CT visiting family, it's nice to know that I can bring him to any Banfield Animal Hospital and they will already have his records. The day after he received his second round of vaccinations, I received a call from Banfield to see how he was doing which I really appreciated!! The vet nurses are really the reason that I will keep coming back! Grooming Services: AMAZING! They were so sweet and obviously love dogs! My little man was so nervous when I was leaving him, but they gave him lots of love and I was able to leave without him crying and trying to jump and follow me. When I came back, he was clean and happy! Store: The Actual Store itself has a great selection and great prices--your typical petsmart. I am giving this store 2 stars but it really should be 4 the first 2 time I shopped I bought African Dwarf Frogs and 0 the second two. The last two times I got frogs here, they sold me frogs that were infected with Chytrid, a horrible fungus that is wiping out frogs and other amphibians all around the world. The last time I got 2 was in November. I quarantined them so as not risk bringing any diseases into my established tank. However my established tank was already tainted by my previous purchase. The store gives you a 2 week guarantee but Chytrid can take 2 1/2 months to show up. Certainly a 2 week guarantee is not enough for frogs. They can guarantee their health if they guarantee that they are privately bred rather than capturing them or breeding them with those in the wild. I was devastated this past Saturday when my frog who I had for over 2 years, whose pictures I posted all the time on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter, died a horrible, horrible death. not a good experience taking my dog in for a nail clipping. the attendant treated him indifferently as he wined and barked away. He did seem like he knew what he was doing and certainly did not know how to handle a senior doggy. Not happy and will probably never go back there for grooming. read more

There's a warm spot in my heart for Petsmart (first job ever, in high school) so naturally, I was pretty excited when one was opening close to home. The store is clean and tidy, and they have most of the basic supplies a pet owner needs, plus a veterinary clinic, salon and dog training area. Though I like supporting the little guys, it's great to have a well stocked store with an educated team of employees nearby when needed. read more

I have been bringing my curly haired Cavapoo for grooming for three years. I have not had any disappointments. A few times she had numerous knots and they warned me they would have to cut short, but, since I have short haircuts, I don't get upset if my dog has one. It looks perfect in about one to two weeks. No one is judgy about my dog and she doesn't get upset about being there. So, I'm happy. read more

I'm never one to shop the big chain stores, hate to see the "Ma & Pa" stores close down bc of places like Wallmart, but the cat is old, peeing on herself and no other place close enough carried diapers. As soon as I walked through those doors I stepped into pet heaven! They had everything anyone could need for their pets, as well as many different products from various companies. The store is extremely clean and the staff are over the top nice and knowledgeable. The big irony however is the Halal butcher shop located next door. Do not go here for your pets grooming needs. PetSmart should hire pet lovers or at least reasonable adults to groom animals. The staff is always unwelcoming, they do not like to answer questions, and do not seem to appreciate the business of new clients. I was 25 minutes late for an appointment to groom my dog and instead of offering to book another appointment, we were presented with the attitude of sorry you weren't here and we are busy. I could understand that being late presents a problem for clients after me, even though I do not live in the area and had to wait for parking which they do not provide, but to be so short and rude about the issue and not present another date and time for which I would have known the consequences for lateness - turn off. They behaved as teenagers with no manners or care for the business that pays their checks. Hire better PetSmart. read more

This was our first time at this PetSmart location and while I was a little worried about using a different groomer, she alleviated any concerns I had by asking a lot of questions about my dog and being super gentle with him. No more schlepping into Manhattan for pet food! This Petsmart is located in a convenient (at least to me) spot and carries the food and litter my fluffy cat friend needs. The prices are in line with what you would expect from a chain pet supply store. The store is pet friendly but I've never witnessed anyone having an accident or have seen the aftermath of such an accident. The staff is polite. They always have cats and sometimes kittens available for adoption (wish I could take them all home and become a crazy cat lady). Only issue is there never seems to be enough registers open, so lines form and there can be a wait to check out. read more

PetSmart is one of those places you always pass by but never realize how convenient it is to have around until you need it. Needed some random dog supplies, so decided to stop in. It's not just a pet supplies store, but really a full-service pet shop. They do grooming, cat adoptions, tag engraving via a machine in the front, and they have all the toys, leashes, and accessories you can think of. It's not cheap, but you can count on having quality supplies. Staff is friendly and helpful, which is good considering there are over a dozen aisles. read more

This review is only for the grooming salon. After reading the horror reviews of people's dogs getting a complete shave after asking for a trim, I was super hesitant to bring my Shi Tzu to this place. But his regular groomer was away for months, all the boutique grooming places were booked up for weeks, and my dog desperately needed to get groomed. While waiting for our groomer to come out, I saw another groomer yelling at and roughly jerking a lab dog by the collar that she was grooming. He was too excited to stay still and she had 0 patience for him. Basically, the other reviews you read about some of the workers there hating their job is absolutely true. Our appt was with Jeanette, whom I would recommend. She was friendly, gentle with my dog, and listened to what I wanted done. My dog had a bit of matted spots on him, and after some back and forth about how to best handle it, I asked Jeanette to do her best at not shaving him to his skin. Well, 3 hours later, I got an almost naked dog (the groomer said he was too matted up to not shave him completely). I was disappointed, but at the same time I couldn't be mad because I brought him to a chain grooming salon, which I knew was not going to spend time detangling my dog's mats and making sure he's not shaved to the skin, the way his regular groomer does. So in short, you get what you pay for here. You don't expect Cost Cutters to give you a high-end salon cut, so don't expect PetSmart to give your pup anything different. read more

Terrible service! I brought my dog in and waited three hours till they would let me get him. When my dog was finally freed and when we arrived home I noticed they did not cut his inner nails and were the same length they were before he went to get "groomed". We just adopted a dog from a local shelter. We were very nervous about what kind of food to get her. She was starved by her previous owner. Being new pet owners we wanted to make sure that we got our pup everything she needs. Several employees asked if they could assist us. One in particular was extra helpful looking into a puppy package deal to see if that would help us save money. He was very honest and told us that it would't be worth our money. He suggested what food would be best and why. We really valued his opinion. Plus our pup really enjoyed the store! She always wants to go in when we walk by. I would highly recommend this store in particular. The staff is knowledgeable and very helpful! read more

I took my two short hair domestic cats here for their first grooming experience and I have to say how pleased I am with the quality and service. Zakia met us in the grooming salon and was nothing but polite and open minded about grooming my kitties. I got the basic grooming package with de-shedding bath added on. Service included nail trimming, bathing, ear cleaning and extensive brushing for their constant shedding. I was hesitant to say the least, as obviously cats and water rarely mix well. She took such wonderful care of them both and said they did so well with the process. My cats are friendly at baseline, but she expressed how she adored them, as did the other grooming staff, and how well they did. Both kitties are now so soft, clean, no more shedding and they smell so good! They are both now so relaxed and happy to be clean. I will definitely be taking my babies here again when they need another grooming session. Thank you Zakia and Petsmart! read more

THIS RATING IS FOR THE GROOMING AND MANAGEMENT. I made my first appointment for my dog to be groomed last week. My dog has sever anxiety and cannot be caged or crated. We are from AZ where this has never been an issue (although apparently making grooming appointments is like rocket science to this company because I have literally only made ONE successful appointment on the first try due to an array of bullshit reasons) anywho, I digress. My dog can't be caged or crated so I wrote that in the notes. Get a call about an hour before his appointment saying this is not possible and I need to book express grooming (first or last appointment) to ensure this. So I say fine and book for Monday night. Get a call Monday afternoon saying despite my booking of the last appointment, this is not possible (for whatever reason they made up at the time), but she'll go ahead and personally book me an appointment for Tuesday to ensure that there's no further issues. Take three, Tuesday. I get an email stating he is to be there at 5pm, not 6pm like I was told I booked. I work till 5pm. So I call in the morning and am told he is due in at 4:45pm (?!) and I tell them how incredibly ridic this is and they say they'll have a manager call me when he gets in to figure it all out. That never happens. So I call again - fine bring him in at 6pm. There is NO communication at this store, there is no customer service expertise, there is NO REASON TO GO HERE. I also want to note that PetSmart advertises 25% off bathing services after 4pm, this includes a LIST of services. My dog received MANY of those services in addition to his bath and blowdry. Upon receiving my receipt at pick up time I mention that I'd like the discount honored and the girl sitting at the computer (in her street clothes with a friend who may or may not have worked there)(my guess is said friend did NOT work there for whoever is keeping tabs) and I'm told that no I can't have that discount, it's only for a bath! Even if that were the case, my dog got a bath amongst his other services. She tells me that the guy at the register is the manager and to let him know and she's sure he'll honor the discount. Here's where it gets silly. The manager has no clue, I literally have the webpage pulled up on my phone and I am telling him each of the services my dog got and he goes back to the grooming area and the same girl WHO JUST TOLD ME TO TALK TO HIM is now AGGRESSIVELY telling him that NO it's JUST for baths. He went in twice to check and she insisted that none of my dogs services were covered. How my dogs haircut cost more than mine in NYC is something I will struggle with for the next hour or so till I have dinner. Then I'll go back to my regular struggles of overeating and regular anxiety. Does my dog look adorable? Obviously, but that's because he is literally the cutest guy ever and it would be IMPOSSIBLE to make him look anything less than stellar. I also want to point out that I always upgrade his package to include nails, teeth, and ears and with that comes a bandana and a sprtiz of doggie cologne. That has happened once in all the times he's been groomed at PetSmart. I'm sure you guessed by now that that once was not at this location for this appointment, glad they advertise SO MANY things that are never honored! Keep up the swell work, guys! I also ALSO want to point out that I am NOT cheap. I spend recklessly! Especially on my dog! It's really just the moral of the situation, here. K, bye. The moral of the story is: TAKE YOUR DOG ANYWHERE BUT PETSMART FOR THEIR GROOMING NEEDS. THIS GOES FOR THE COMPANY AS A WHOLE. I went to the fish department and asked about their selection of aquatic freshwater snails for my tank. The young woman pointed to a tank with 5 snails. ALL OF THESE SNAILS WERE DEAD. According to their reactions when I told them, they didn't know, and didn't care. They told me one of them floating at the top was "sleeping". She obviously had no idea what they were doing. She simply shrugged and fished the poor things out to the garbage and told me to try again next week. I'm beyond horrified at the awful treatment of these wonderful creatures. It was very clear why they perished. There was NO HEATER and NO PRESENT ALGE for them to eat. Before coming here to buy a fish or snail, please keep in mind that the staff doesn't care about the health of their animals. I am positive that if I wasn't well educated they would have sold me a dead snail, because they had no idea until I told them. Buyer be ware please. Over this past weekend, my Mom was told that she was too old to adopt an adult cat. She was taken for her money and dignity in front of her two young granddaughters. I love this pet store, I always go here for fish stuff and dog toys, I do wish they had a bigger exotic pet selection, and holistic dog food, but I still love it. The staff is friendly and knows what they are talking about, they are always helpful and more than once I've stayed longer than necessary just to chat with employees. I would definitely recommend this place. They also do dog grooming and have an animal hospital in the back, and a scale you can use to weigh your dog or cat. I come here every two weeks to get my dog groomed. I'd say to go to Jesse or Lisa, they always make my toy yorkie look amazing! Everyone else in grooming seems a little grumpy, which I don't like as I have a nervous dog, but they still do an okay job. I went to this location last night to purchase cat food, toys and various other items. The store is one of the dreariest stores I have ever been in. The lights are off/out in the cat section. It's isn't okay to expect shoppers to go into an isle that is almost pitch black. I found what I could and got out of there. When I complained to the cashier, he said they are aware of it. Well if you are aware of it, Management should do something about it. It's down right creepy shopping in a dark store. I had to get food for my kitten , or I would have just left. The first time I came, it was great. Took a couple hours, fine cut. This last time the groomer took much longer and after a day my pup seemed really uncomfortable in her private area. She was visibly inflamed and so I had to take her to the vet for medication. Seems they were not careful with how they shaved that area and weren't gentle, causing a terrible skin rash. So traumatic for the dog, plus a $130 vet bill as a result. This place is run by teenagers and I think there's a good chance you could get an inexperienced one. Called ahead of time to see if they had "Rosie's" aka "minnows". Woman on the phone stated "yes we do". I asked about how many since I would be traveling from the other side of Brooklyn. "We have more than we can count" so I told her we would be there to get at least 20. We got there about 1.5hrs later and found an empty tank. We got attitude from Karina (she has sickly green hair)who was a manager on duty. She stated "oh that person must have confused those for the goldfish." She didn't offer a solution or even an apology. When we asked for the district managers name she came back with the customer service number. She refused to give us the name for the DM. We had an undercover security person come to stand by while we continued to ask about a name or phone number. A kind gentleman (Mel) came to try and help. While this went on his random associate went through the tanks and found 5 minnows they haven't been eaten by their stock fish yet. Bagged and given to us. He gave us a name and an apology. We paid for the 5 fish and then called customer service for a call back from the DM team. Horrible experience will never visit that store again. read more

Normally stores are geared towards dogs, but they had an almost equal selection. I will be returning to this store for my cat's necessities. read more

I brought my 2 dogs for an 11:30am grooming appointment and didn't get service until 4pm. The groomer asked me what I wanted to be done and even wrote it down but yet my dog still was butchered. Her hair cut uneven and the boy dog was nicked and left with razor bumps by the groomer's DULL AND UNCLEAN CLIPPERS. then when we try to complain we was told each time the manager wasn't in. My husband and I wasn't familiar with petsmart but we will stay taking our dogs from now on to petco they give us the quality we are looking for. very disappointed with the whole experience.. read more

i must say i really do like the wide selection of items here. im a frequent buyer. this is where i get my puppy's food and items. but today when i went to return some items, the sales associate was so rude and disrespectful. he asked if i had used a certain item. i told him the truth and said no. he was like "are u sure????" and i said "yes im sure, i didnt need to use it". he didnt believe me so he called another sales associate and asked her to bring the same item. he looked at it and was like "just wanted to make sure i wouldnt return it to the shelf". he was so embarrasing and rude. i know that even if i used the item i could return. so why would i lie?. this is how i received the item which is why i was returning. he couldve done this all when i left. just be prepared to be treated disrespectfully. read more

They don't ever have enough open registers and their groomers are unpleasant. Their cashiers are always quite nice. The groomers act as if they hate their jobs. Octavia from the groomers was crying when I arrived, looked like she wanted to leave, was not nice to the nervous dogs and lacked any level of good customer service. I would not go there again for my dog to be groomed. They need new grooming staff except Jasmine - she is nice. read more

I usually only come here to take my dog to Banfield. On one occasion I decided to get her nails clipped at the groomers. Worst experience ever. My dog has never liked getting her nails clipped but as long as it's done quickly and efficiently she's fine. At this place, she was screaming the entire time and in so much pain. The workers didn't appear to have much regard over my pets discomfort or try to calm her. They were fairly indifferent about the whole experience and forced me to walk out to the cashier and pay for the service before it was over instead of allowing me to stay near my dog in the waiting area and help keep her calm. I will never go back to them again or purchase items from this store. I'll come here for Banfield only. read more

This is a review for grooming only. While my wheaten puppy got two decent cuts and baths here, he also had middle of the night diarrhea after each visit. Following visit one I was willing to overlook it, but after it happened a second time, I figured it couldn't be a fluke. Calls to the manager to see if he was given treats that upset his stomach yielded nothing. A friend's dog also had a similar situation. And in the end, we chalked it up to it being a stressful experience and no wonder, on weekends this place is a chaotic mess. Maybe some dogs can handle the stress, but this is no place for a high maintenance dog who isn't crazy about getting groomed. read more

First of all, they finally did burn my dog during grooming, so I switched groomers. I went by today for a harness, got home, and guess what? The cashier failed to remove the security tag. It's their job to remove it, not mine to check to see if it's removed before I leave. Getting home with something and not being able to use it immediately completely defeats the purpose of wasting my time walking into the store and then waiting forever in line. I don;t have a single minute to go there in the next month. I'm probably going to just order what I want online and take this back with the receipt, because I don't have time to go back in before I need it. if I order from someplace with Amazon prime I will have it Tuesday, with no security tag left on it. And honestly I am probably going to just order all my pet supplies online from here on out. Even if they gave me the harness for free, that wouldn't compensate me for wasting 45 minutes. read more
