He noticed my three-month-old puppy, Bruno, sitting in the shopping cart as he walked by the aisle. Normally I wouldn't put a dog in a cart, but since Bruno hasn't had his third round of vaccinations yet, I had been advised not to put him on the floor. He had just come over to see if we found everything we needed and played with Bruno. We were shopping for Blue Buffalo puppy food, and Todd suggested going with a larger bag to get better value. While the store happened to be out of stock on the bigger size, his recommendation was spot-on, and the two smaller bags we purchased worked perfectly for what we needed. He also took the time to ask if I had the puppy guide, which showed he was thinking ahead and making sure I had all the right resources. On top of that, the checkout staff was efficient and genuinely friendly--they got us through the line quickly without sacrificing good service. We were also able to take advantage of the promotion running through 4/22 again, which resets daily, and everything went smoothly. Between Todd's attentiveness and the strong team at checkout, this was another excellent visit. I made a reservation 1 month in advance for dog training during my pet's stay. When i went to pick up my dog they said they had to confirm if the training happened as they only saw the trainer "today". Unfortunately, the previous two days, which was when the training was reserved for, there was no trainer, and therefore, my dog was not trained. I had spoken with the manager twice prior to picking up my dog, and therefore was no mention that no training had occurred. Additionally, there was no apology, only "we won't charge you" for the training, which I would hope would be the case. I was charged for the grooming I requested, however, after the fragrance of what I thought was shampoo left, my dog's coat quickly seemed like it hadn't been washed, and definitely she did not receive the defurmination treatment as I had requested. I complained to the Petsmart store manager and he tried to state that the store is separate from Banfield but one represents the other in the final analysis. Absolutely terrible we go in and we asked to look at the hamsters because I am trying to buy, and the manager gives us a lot of attitude and speaks to us very disrespectfully saying "ummm well are you actually looking to buy a hamster?" very rudely. We were walking out of the store and before left, we looked at the beta fish because my friend was saying how she wants to get another one and there is a dead beta fish sitting there so I go to tell the employee and he says "oh yeah we know that it's dead" so basically it has been sitting on the shelf dead and all of the employees were aware and did not take it away. One of my dogs I had to cut again when I got home because there was barely any cut off and yet it was still $100 charge to start. I've had prior grooming experiences and all have turned out as expected. A clean pooch, great customer service and a decent price. Today I brought my dog in. And when I was called they said he was ready for pick up. When I got there the groomer notified me he had matted hair and as he brushed it he pulled off a scab and my pup was bleeding. So he was going to see the vet. After an hour wait I finally got options about how to proceed with treatment. Staples or ointment and a cone. They suggested the second was better as it wasn't that deep. Todd the store manager took care of the vet bill and I appreciate that because $580 for a cone, patch shave and ointment is ridiculous. Upon further inspection after I received him the wound looks worse than I expected. I understand accidents happen but how hard do you brush and cause this to happen? read more

Aside from there being several dead and or dying fish, they would not allow me to buy a goldfish without buying an entire set up and chemicals. I have had and kept goldfish and other fish for over 20 years, but she wanted me to prove to her that I had a set up she would approve of or I would be required to purchase over $50 in supplies to purchase their three dollar goldfish. Extremely disrespectful, treated me like an idiot. I drove down the street to a local store that specializes in fish (Aquarium City) and was treated as a value customer. They sold me just the fish, didn't high-pressure me to purchase anything else answered all of my questions. I am going to be buying a saltwater set up for my husband as a gift and was using the goldfish as a precursor to that. I don't think I'll ever purchase anything fish related from PetSmart ever again and will be sure to use aquarium city a local family owned company going forward for any of my fish needs. read more

You tell them the service you want but yet they still book you with a "groomer" that cannot cut hair?? It's always an issue with this raggedy ass location. Northridge PetSmart grooming location is way better than this one. And the worker still thought i would be stupid enough to rebook with them or "reschedule". I must say that the manager that was in this facility handled my complaint with compassion and a calm sensibility about her. That being said, corporate should be ashamed of how they are allowing their betta fish to be displayed. Too much light. Not enough air holes. I don't care how many water changes you do. These animals are slowly dying. While I was in the store, I showed the manager that five of them were near death. Obviously her hands are tied and she must follow the corporate rules. If this is how PetSmarts decides to handle live animal care, they shouldn't even consider having them. This was appalling. I know you can brush it away. This review is for the pet hotel. I went to inquire about boarding my cat. The fees are reasonable at $30/day and you can pick up and drop off 7 days a week. I was able to see the space for the cats and it looked great. I was very happy with the service from the employee and how much knowledge she had with all my questions. When I went to reserve a room for a trip they told me if I don't pick up my car by 12pm there is an additional charge of $18. This wasn't told to me when I was there so I was shocked. Not a huge deal but would have been nice to know. The parking lot is nice and big and the store has plenty of items. read more

My wife picked up our puppy ( Luna ) and she called me immediately about what a shitty haircut Anna gave our puppy. I've been taking my puppy to this place and another girl name (Maya) was grooming Luna but this time Maya was not there for few days and we needed it to get her haircut done before we were going to a short trip. Just need to make Petsmart aware that I've only had 1 grooming session ever anywhere for my pup, and the first time her nail was cut too short and now she has a black nail, then I booked another one a few months later for the furminator $100+ dollars, and got a regular groom, my dog is shedding way more than before I got her. Not sure if Carlos knew what he was doing however this service was bad, she didn't get teeth cleaning, perfume, bandana, or her cookie that came with the package, she smelled like outside when I picked her up I mean this was enough to make me look elsewhere for service. Please be sure to give the customers what they pay for or if now advise and not just put her back into the play area after the groom. That didn't make sense to me. read more

First time taking the family dog here. Have some anxiety because my dog has anxiety and is unpredictable. Note PetSmart doesn't muzzle which I was convinced my dog needed but we hoped for the best and very glad that we did. Lily gave my dog a bath and Martha did his grooming. Both did a great job. No complaints. Their prices are reasonable as well. My favorite thing though was that my dog was there less than 3 hours. With his groomer of years, it was an all day affair with my dog in a cage until we were told we could pick him up :( Easy to make appointments as well online. I only wish they had a register at the grooming station as you have to wait in line with all PetSmart customers. Would easily return and recommend. read more

This review pertains to the doggy day care and boarding of PetSmart which was absolutely horrible! I have been coming to this pet smart since we adopted our rescue pup 3 months ago. We had his first pet visit at Banfield (the in-store veterinarian) where they recorded all his immunization records. Today I took my little cutie for doggy day care but the awful girl at reception would not accept him because he didn't have a vaccination record from the vet. I tried explaining that he is a rescue and his records came from the rescue but they refused him. I even told them that I brought the dog for a health screening at the pet smart veterinarian (Banfield) and they recorded all his vaccines but they said it didn't matter because they have a different policy for vaccine records. I further explained that he also came in for dog training classes at the same store location as well as grooming at the same location and every department was great and accepted his records. The lady just didn't accept it. I couldn't believe what I was hearing! So I asked for a manager who came and again reiterated that my dog was adopted from a rescue and the records I have for my dog were from the rescue and they are legitimate and verified. They weren't some handwritten words on a piece of paper. They were actual records and they were accepted by the vet, the training class and the groomers at PetSmart but he repeated what the rude lady at the day care front desk said. So i asked them: are you telling me that you want my dog to get double vaccinated because you don't agree with his paperwork? And the manager said their rules are their rules. I couldn't believe it! They are basically saying no rescues allowed because of their paperwork? How awful and inhumane is that??? They're showing complete bias against these poor animals that are trying to get a second chance in life. They're basically discriminating against rescue animals. I would stay clear away from this boarding/day care as they clearly don't care about your loved family members! There are so many amazing day cares for dogs and I found another one around the corner that was more than happy to accept my cutie pup with the paperwork I provided. I popped in for some potty pads. Then I got stuck playing with a bunch of puppies that were up for adoption. So important to get your dogs fixed so this kind of stuff doesn't happen. This is a very specific review for CAT GROOMING: Utterly Mortified by my experience!! Apparently the guy who is "certified" to work with cats is only there Weds & Thurs. This was my first experience going to PetSmart grooming, but not my cat's first experience with a bath & haircut. My cat is 8yrs old btw. I dropped him off at 8a for a bath/nail trim/Lion cut. The "cat groomer" asked no questions about the cut so I assumed it was pretty standard. He called at 840a and said my cat was done! I thought, wow that was fast (I was surprised)! When I arrived my cat's eyes were still dirty and he looked like nothing was done to him. I said, "It doesn't look like you did anything. I wanted a lion cut...his body shaved down, a mane etc). I'll spare you the back and forth details, but essentially I sat there and watched him give my sweet, chill cat his version of a Lion cut (just to be clear my cat was practically falling asleep while he was shaving him and never reacted). I even went in at one point and asked, "Are you going to cut around his shoulders/neck/tail/underbelly?" Long story short, a young woman who groomed my dog (also there at 8a) came out to talk with me and I expressed my complete disappointment and disgust with my cat's service. She is this man's saving grace because she did not charge me for the cat grooming and gave me a discount for the dog grooming. Suffice it to say I will NEVER EVER be taking my animals for grooming at PetSmart again. And PetSmart should elevate their standards for their Groomers!!!
