Went into this store last week trying to find eye drops for my dog. Was never approached by any floor staff to ask if I needed help finding anything. Ended up leaving the store without buying anything because I could not find what I needed. Would say horrible customer service but considering I didn't get any help I can't even say that. Grooming is great. It's disappointing that some customers don't understand how difficult the grooming job is. I've seen inconsiderate people walk in this store an hour late for their appointment and the groomers still fit time in their busy schedule to take them! Haircuits are fairly priced unless your dog is a giant walking tangle. Understandabley if this is the case, you will be charged a good amount. Time for haircuts is also understandable: 3-4 hours unless otherwise noted. This is a very high volume salon, but the groomers still manage to get the dogs out in a reasonable time frame. Many other grooming palces require more time. Recommend. read more

pros... this was one of the first petsmarts in the south bay. it carries all the regular stuff which a pet shop should and much more. very handy to know where one it just in case you do need a pet vet when your regular one is closed. cons... well i completely agree with Henry K. this petsmart is not all that when it comes to customer service. i will not take my doggy here anymore. the place is not clean, i saw a dog let loose it's golden liquid on the floor, and twenty minutes later still there. best part there was an employee in the same aisle who almost stepped in it, who didn't clean it up. same thing with the solids as well. don't ever buy your aquarium fish here, they are not of the best quality. usually has some kind of disease, or they will be weak and get sick soon after getting them home. ever notice that all the aquarium backs are blue? why cause it disguises the medication which they circulate through all the tanks in the store, whether the fish need it or not. hence they are weak and are likely to get sick. overcrowded tanks too. read more

This post is for the groomers. I brought my mini schnauzer pup today for a cut and bath and mind you she has gotten a perfect haircut at petco before and we tried booking with them first but they were full so we called petsmart and they had an opening. We took her in at 3 and they seemed pretty busy and the groomers themselves seemed done with the day already. FIRST WARNING SIGN. They took my dog in told us she be ready in a couple of hours. I called 2 to check up on the progress and one time they said the groomer wasn't even with my dog she had gone to lunch and she would call me back. After NO call Back I called again at 6 and they said she'd be ready by 7. I go in at 7 expecting her to be ready when the groomer comes out with my dog asking us how we wanted the hair cut because who we explained it too apparently didn't inform her well enough ??? Excuse me ? After 4 hours that should have been done. I even had called twice that could have been mentioned then. I had already noticed they had left her a bald spot were they cut her hair to the skin on her forehead and noticed her beard was completely uneven I was immediately upset. My boyfriend tried to calm me down as he said they weren't finished yet. I kept a Watchful eye as I had a bad feeling about what she was doing. She ended up leaving my dog unattended on the floor while she went up front and chatted away what the hell ???? Are you kidding me ??? That's completely irresponsible . When all said and done my dog ended up with the WORST haircut ever complete mess of long and short please don't ever go here. Or just avoid Fabiola at all costs. I spoke to the manager and will have to see if I can have an EXPERIENCED groomer redo her hair once it gets longer due to the hack job. And this time I'm not leaving PetSmart until she's done. read more

when i'm on this side of the county, i buy the teeny greenies and get kobe groomed at this particular location. my grey poodle - all ten pounds of him - is terribly nervous at the groomers or vets, so its a shame that this place takes an hour too long to groom than most places. then again, i have high standards. the site is very clean, parking no problemo, and the workers are rather friendly, considering what a great number of grooming customers they have. read more

We are extremely disappointed in the quality of the service we recieved at the grooming center of this petsmart location. Normally we go to El Cajon and have no issues our dog. She usually comes home with a tun of energy, not today. The groomer tried to over charge us and lied about completing services that we paid for. Groomer claimed our dog bit her. When we got home we were looking at our dogs paw and she cut her paw. I would bitten her too. We spoke to one of the managers at the store, she looked up the past notes on our dog and claimed that our dog never was seen by any petsmart groomers. I told her I would call up El Cajon store to verify that our dog has never had past issues and the manager said no it was not necessary. My husband left his phone and had to go back he came back telling me the store manager and groomer were talking badly about us. My mother has gone to this location and has had the same complaints as us. We will never be going back. read more

I am very upset for the way they treated my daughters dog that I am babysitting it is a French sheep dog and I ask them to give her a bath and the groomer touch her all around to see how matted she was and she told me to choose how short I wanted her hair from a sample that they have there and I chose the third one she said ok. After 4 hours they call to let md know she was ready (8pm) when I arrived to pick her up it was a different dog. They cut all the hair of the shortest of all the samples maybe more. The dog was completely another dog. It was a shock for me and a friend that came with me to live her and pick her up. I think that if they are going to shave all the hair because they where to lazy to work combing her they should at least call me and let me know. They allow told me that she didn't let them to cut her nails so they didn't do it. This was Thursday night from 4 to 8pm today is Tuesday and the poor dog is very cranky. Her genitals are all read and she is not eating and is only in a corner and does not want to walk. I went by to let them know I am very upset and the condition of the dog but they brush me of and they said that they were going to see if she can be look at by one of their vets that they will call me latter. They call me latter to let me know that not today not tomorrow but until Thursday one of their doctors will have time to see her. My daughters vet is going to see her tomorrow morning at 9:30 am and I know that when my daughter comes back from Italy she is going to be very upset of what happened I only hope that the dog will be again happy and healthy because to shave her like that should never had happened. read more

She was extremely condescending and made it clear that she wasn't going to give me the fish I wanted because she thought my tank was too small for it. I have been getting my dogs groomed here every since they opened. I currently have only one dog and I take her every 4 weeks. She has problems with skin allergies and my groomer Melissa does such a great job and has no problem with me bringing my dogs medicated shampoo and using it. I always get the top dog treatment. She gets her toenails ground and filed so they are not sharp. They brush her teeth, clean her ears and anal gland. I get my dog in first thing in the morning, go shopping next door and when I'm done my dog is ready for pick up. I just love the job Melissa does on my dog and my dog likes going there. This Petsmart is the best. Keep up the good work and people who are looking for a good groomer, go make an appointment! read more

Last night, I made an online order for some potty pads for my dog. My only intention was just to get the potty pads but then I saw that the Christmas sweaters were on sales for $13 VS $24-25. There was only too small of sizes or way to big. Thinking nothing of it, I just thought they ran out. Then I went to go ask the associates if they possibly have any more Christmas sweaters in the back and I really was looking to get the Reindeer sweater in a M or L. Natalie went to the back to see if there was any Christmas sweaters and she came back with a whole box. However, we noticed that my dog, Milo, was too big for the M in the "Santa's little helper" sweater. Then Natalie said she could look some more in the back and try to find more sweaters. I told her it's okay and that I don't want to cause any more work for her. But she insisted and came back with another box! I ended up finding the reindeer costume in Large and another sweater in Large for my boyfriends dog. It was the best customer service I have experienced in this store! Took my puppy to get groomed last week. Since I picked up my puppy he has not been the same, it's almost like they switched him on us. He looks and acts very depressed, doesn't want to eat and is very defensive with everyone in our family, even tries to bite us at times. Called the salon and all they can tell us is that our puppy was "too wild". My husband and I are convinced something happened. Our dog was very friendly and playful and now we have a very nervous, defensive and depressed dog and all this happened as soon as we picked him up from Petsmart grooming salon! read more

I really like this petsmart they have everything i need for my puppy bella. i use royal canin and that stuff is expensive for me haha but at petsmart its actually cheaper than some pet stores near my house. it usually cost 15bucks for a pound of dog food but at petsmart i can get it for $11! the workers could be a little more helpful aka the cashiers thats why i only gave them 4 stars. read more

I recently had my second BAD experience with the grooming salon. This first time i went in i took my 38 pound 3 year old schnauzer to get groomed and taken care of. On the phone making the appointment i was quoted $32 for the groom. When i arrived with his rabies information they noticed that the paperwork had labeled him as a Giant Schnauzer. ANYONE who knows giant schnauzers knows that they are well over 90 pounds, and that this is clearly a mistake as my Dog is only 38 pounds. (most of it is probably even hair ). They argued me for 15 minutes and even had to bring out the manager to "assess" whether or not they were going to charge me for grooming a Giant Schauzer. It was so ridiculous and unprofessional. Not to mention showed me how truly uneducated some of the workers are in dog breeds to not be able to recognize that he was not a giant schnauzer. Unbelievable. My second experience was over what was supposed to be a simple nail trim. I called ahead and spoke to Devyn and explained that my lab is 4 years old very sweet, but very nervous when it comes to getting her nails done - not to mention she had never been to this salon before as we had just moved. So she would likely need a bit of extra time, and potentially two people. Devyn said "ok thats fine" and i was able to come in whenever I wanted. When I got there Devyn was the one to check us in, barely welcomed us, and answered multiple phone calls while I was trying to discuss my dogs care. She simply could have told the other clients that she is with a customer would they mind holding for a moment. (Bandifeld is so polite and wonderful at this !!! I never feel interrupted when the phone is ringing) . When she finally returned to listening to me, she barely acknowledged anything that i had to say and took my dog back. I told her again she was very sweet, but nervous, and does best with two people - not on the table. The second she took her back, she shoved her up onto a table, very roughly strapped her head into the leashes and tried to go it alone. As i stood and watched I could hear Devyn telling her to "stop it! and NO!" in an unkind voice. It was easy to see that she had absolutely zero patience with her, and was not kind AT ALL. By the time my poor sweet dog was let off the table - another employee came and suggested Devyn stop - THANK GOODNESS - my poor lab was panting, drooling, heart beating a million miles an hour and was absolutely a wreck. Not to mention Devyn brought her out rudely gave me her leash and said " I cut three". I all of my dogs four years of life and numerous numerous nail trimmings i have never ever once had some one not be able to handle her. A little kindness goes a long way. Devyn showed ZERO. I will never bring my dogs back to this grooming salon again. I love them far too much for them to be treated so poorly, and for some one to have so little patience and kindness with them. I have not had a puppy in more than 15 years and the girls were very knowledgeable and helpful. They went above and beyond to help me find the things I needed for our new rescue puppy. I had a very bad grooming experience last week at this PetSmart. My dog Max was hacked up pretty bad. This is unusual as we have had very positive experiences here for the past two years. My wife called Sunday to try to get the grooming fixed, but was told the person who did the damage did not work there anymore. There was no offer of alternative of the store taking care of it. It was a $70 grooming and I wasn't going to pay for it again. We will not be returning in the future. Too bad because it's so convenient. read more

I LOVE this Petsmart! Every time I go there they have new advice for me and great sales going on. I never have to look far for help if I need it, and many times the sales associate has sat with me for 5-10+ minutes talking and helping me make up my mind. The selection of foods, toys, crates, beds, and accessories can't be beat. Last night my husband decided he wanted a black lab puppy so we walked in 30 minutes before closing with our brand new 6 week old baby girl and Shana (one of the trainers) spent nearly 20 minutes walking around and helping us pick out everything we needed for our new puppy from a holistic food to a crate, and explained to me the entire concept of crate-training a dog, feeding times, vaccine schedules, training classes, pretty much everything we needed to know. She also hooked us up with a discount and helped us save a good bit of money! I can't wait to go back and sign up little Riley for obedience classes with Shana (who, by the way, is certified outside of Petsmart as well). read more

I use to take my English Bulldog puppy Wrex to a diferent vet until today. My 4 month old Bulldog puppy broke out with a real bad skin infection I tried benedryl thinking it was an allergic reaction when that didn't work I panicked so I desided to take him to the vet. Mondays are my only days off so It was ver convinient for me to take him to the vet the same day. My regular vet couldn't take me In as a walk it so I called Banfield Pet Hospital inside pet smart. They were able to book an appointment within 20 minutes of my call. As I arrive I was greated very friendly by the girls at the front desk and within a few minutes my puppy was being looked at my a very nice and professional doctor, Doctor Kamps. She was so nice and diagnose my puppy right away, she explained everything that was going on with Wrex and even let me see the Mite that was the cause of my Puppy's skin infection through the microscope. She is defenetly one of the best Vets I've been through she's an awesome Doctor and I highly recommend her to anyone. Looks like I found a permanent Doc for my Baby Wrex. read more

We have taken three pets there since 2003. We have had Ana as our regular groomer, and she is awesome! We totally recommend her as a groomer for pets! She shows her love for animals from the beginning to end, she grooms exactly as we ask EVERY TIME, and she is finished before or when she says she will be. So apparently this place is closing? Everything was 75% off, so my bf and I came to check it out. We come here often to check out the deals on tanks and have purchased a fair share of fish related things from this store. Idk if today was just one of those days but I was very taken aback by how unprofessional everyone was. The minute we walked in, associates huddled in corners talking, not greeting anybody. We stood by a specific tank kind of wondering if the prices reflected the sale that was going on, but the said associates could not be bothered so I had to go out and find someone else to answer my question. We took a picture of the barcode to bring to the front, seeing as the car we brought would not fit the 75 gallon fish tank we were about to purchase and we asked how much it would be with taxes and everything. We were pretty happy with the price and so we told the associate we would like to purchase it and if she could please put it on hold for us so we could go run out and get a car better suited to haul around the tank. She asked the "manager" who may as well have said it to our face --because she whispered in her ear "no tell them no we have to many things up here". Having heard the comment myself, I asked if they could just put a "sold" sticker on it and that we'd be right back and they straight up told us no. What! We were paying for it, I don't understand why they couldn't hold it for a few hours. Very rude. The manager walked away without a care in the world and the associate moved on to the next customer. I took my dog to be groomed yesterday and I did not like the outcome, but I paid even though they supposedly have a "satisfaction or it's free" guarantee. Yeah, but they don't bring the dogs out until after you pay - OK!!! Still, I knew my dog had a couple of mats so I wasn't expecting her to be in show room condition. I just wanted to state that for the record. The reason why I gave only one star is because my dog came home with TICKS! The last time she had ticks was when I had brought her in for grooming, so I avoided taking her for a while (hence the mats) and what do you know... I take her in and voila - ticks. We had the house fumigated the last time which was only a few months ago and the dog never goes outside except for vet appts and grooming. So I'll let you put two and two together. I am so mad because I paid extra for those mats to be shaved when they could easily be brushed out but they just look for any excuse to squeeze extra money out of you. And to top it off they give her ticks??? There is no excuse for that as it is due to carelessness. I will NOT be going back. read more

Went for the first time to use groomer. First when we set the appointment we explained about our dogs documents being from Honduras. Also that he had a surgery a month prior. All set. We arrive with the documents and then it takes an hour to get it sorted out so they would groom our dog. and that was with an appointment. We point out the area of the surgery and finally finish after an hour. Then we get home and and hour and a half later they call and say they see a spot near the surgery area and can't continue the grooming. I ask them to please cut his hair and don't do around that area,......NO they can't. So we go to pick him up he is total stressed out after being there so long and nothing done. What a mess. The manager of the grooming area was so rude at check in we almost didn't leave him ....I should have taken that as a sign of how petsmart runs their grooming area and just canceled. I have always used petsmart for shopping for my dogs things...I can't believe a big company like that and their personnel is so unprofessional and that was the manager. The company should really look into this petsmart. I have never had any problems with any of the other stores but this one stay away from!!!!!!!! read more
