I usually shop for food and Christmas pet toys. Today I needed my dogs nails trimmed and I looked up this locations yelp reviews and saw that it had low stars but decided to come give them a try. Ericka was able to fit me in for a nail trim and I waited while she cut a puppies nails and she was gentle and efficient. She apologized for the wait but I didn't mind. There was another large dog that was barking and being loud but they were cool, calm and collected and didn't rush that appointment either. I was very pleased with the attention to detail the staff had while it was a busy day for them. I spoke to the manager that was busy in his office but he was still very attentive to let him know about his excellent staff. I can't wait to book a bath at this location. Party is rude and has horrible customer service. I have brought my dog here numerous times with no issues. I was called and asked if I'd like to change my appointment and come in on Wednesday as opposed to the upcoming Sunday. I told the associate that I have to be at work at 8 but I could do an 8am drop off and be a little late for work. When I attempted to drop my dog off ( not his first time at this location) I was told that because of my dog's heart murmur they couldn't wait on him this morning because he couldn't be caged (too stressful) and they'd have to reschedule. I explained that I had already done a check in online and had they paid attention to it they would've scheduled accordingly. So, they refused to account dog, i had to take my dog bank home, I was extra late for work for absolutely no reason, and my dog still needs to be groomed . I paid for dog grooming services via appointment at the Hawthorne PetSmart for a bath, furminator brush, and nail trim... and am completely disappointed with the services provided. They said it would take 1 hour to complete my pets service, but he was not ready until over 3 hours later. He still had hair all over him, his nails were not cut, and they clearly did not brush him with the furminator brush, because his undercoat was still shedding a lot. I spoke with the available grooming staff to voice my concerns and they did not care, as they said they were not the groomer who took care of my dog (who already left for the day). I spoke with a manager (I believe her name was Aleiysa), who said that there was an issue in the groomers that day and that they were very busy... she did not seem to care very much either. She offered 15% ($9) off the services, but I was so bothered by the horrible service that I just wanted to provide the feedback and leave. The groomer area/office was in total disarray with hair everywhere, angry customers with dogs that had been there for several hours and were not finished, and a staff that just seemed overwhelmed. I really enjoy coming to this location. First off, I want to thank the puppy trainer Daya for leading the puppy training class and providing her expertise. She is very friendly, knowledgeable and patient during our class. She answers all of our questions and motivates me to practice what we learned in class at home. I noticed many of the reviews for this PetSmart focused on grooming but, that's not what my review will be focusing on. Mine is solely on the store, customer service, and the training department. I'll start with the training. I brought my dog in for training when she was 4 months old and she's now 8 months. We had the pleasure of working with Daya and she is amazing!! Daya is hands on, positive, and will make sure that you understand the commands. She will also suggest if you need to retake a class if your puppy is not getting the information. I also love her motto "you have to practice at home in order for it to work." I recommend coming here and requesting her for training. Customer service here is always nice and welcoming. I've gotten to know many of the employees after coming for training and each person remembers you and your animal. They are also very helpful if you can't find the product you're looking for. The store is also nice but, some of the items are out of stock often. I blame the effects of Covid so I can't necessarily hold it against them. Also, this store is ALWAYS crowded and will have a long line regularly. If you're in a rush just be patient because there's always a long line. I did notice also that they are short staffed sometimes. But again, I blame that on what has happened over the past few years because every company is short staffed. Overall, the people are nice and attentive. The store is great and Daya is the best trainer you could have. read more

Went in to buy fish for my tank. Got 3 female guppies, 1 male, and 2 ghost shrimp. I used $2 of My rewards. I sat the bag in the tank to help them acclimate to the temp and let my other fish swim around to get used to his new mates. They unfortunately all died (existing fish survived). PetSmart policy is to exchange dead fish within certain amount of time, so I went in the next day and asked for just that. Noe was great at explaining better options and making suggestions. The cashier was super friendly and helpful, but couldn't figure out why the system was asking me to pay while doing an EVEN EXCHANGE. She called her manager for help and in comes Nayeli with attitude. She was adamant that I had to pay the difference for my EVEN EXCHANGE because I had used my points and the points cannot be returned. On top of that, I had to pay $4.xx instead of the $2 of points I had to use. She was condescending and careless and refused to see beyond what she wanted. I asked for Rich's number, but she just gave me the 800# to customer service. I called customer service and they were baffled as to 1) why she had given me THEIR number if it was a store issue 2) why she was charging me to make an EVEN EXCHANGE and why she had made a big deal over $4. Mind you, I could cover the $4 and then some - but why would I put more money in a corporation especially if their policy is to do an EVEN EXCHANGE. Rich finally called and agreed to have me visit the store to complete the EVEN EXCHANGE. I went in and who assisted me? Nayeli. She was smug, kept asking if I would be returning the rest of the dead fish, kept joking with her coworkers, and never even made eye contact nor expressed any regret for her mishandling of a poor situation. I do not expect anyone to gravel, go beyond their pay, or to even have to apologize directly to me. I have only had 2 interactions with the Nayeli while she was representing PetSmart as a store manager, so I will not judge her, her character, nor management skills. I will say this, though - it would be wise to consider that a manager's role is not to prove you are correct, but to assess a situation, use critical thinking, and represent the company's best interest while providing customer service. If you are proven wrong, be empathetic and acknowledge it, don't get even more confrontational. As a manager, there should be no reason why your attitude towards a customer is uglier than how your employees interact with customers. You are supposed to lead by example. This was my favorite store to shop, as I take my 3 dogs there often to get groomed and get their essentials and even had pet insurance through Banfield at one point. After the interaction and their clear need for $4, I will reconsider. read more

I came across some dog treats & meat that were 50% due to the expiration date which I took to the counter for purchase and the lady with the glasses that was at the register was being extremely rude and not wanting to add the discount since it was according to her not on the meat packaging. Which I proceeded to inform her that the 50% sticker was on the box for both and she was more than welcome to check it out herself. She finally decided to provide the discount which I proceeded to tell her thank you and the dumb b**tch completely ignored us and rudely handed over the stuff we had purchased. Manager Rubin really helped us out with our issue, we purchased a 77 gallon fishtank and an item that supposed to have come with the tank was damaged and we hadn't noticed until well after we bought it home. I expected a gigantic FIGHT trying to get a replacement but NO, Rubin was very professional, located our receipt in the system although we lost the original which I thought would have been the worst of the problems but NO! Not only was it the worst cut he has ever recieved he ended up in the emergency vet three hours after I picked him up with both eyes uncontrollably pussing and swollen shut. I called to speak to a manager and have still yet to receive a call back. My dog has been subject to the cone of shame and on an antibiotic& steriod for a week now. What a shame I have a teacup and based on the reviews I will never ever take her here for grooming. She's already a handful when I do it. My original dog Mobile groomer on wheels whom was great and just a sweet person good with dogs moved to Arkansas sucks!! This is for the grooming salon ( I really hope someone cares enough to read this) I had an appointment at 1230p to which I was 6 minutes late. Well I walked into the salon and there was no one in the front. The place was a total disaster. There was dog hair on every grooming table. It was just disgusting and unsanitary and the air had hair in it. Finally someone walked out and asked what I was here for to which I responded I had an appointment. She said oh it seems like you were late so your stylist started on another pet. Oh really in the six minutes I was late the stylist was able to start on another pet. Anyway I waited a few more minutes until she came out. She asked what I was here for and I told her I was here for the puppy bath to which she upgraded me to the puppy bath and trim. Great... Well apparently because I'm there on Friday the price is even higher. I was not happy because I called ahead and got prices over the phone. I will not be returning to the salon. I wanted to surprise my mom while I dog-sitted for her. She's 83 and on a fixed income. I brought in Lucy her Cocker Spaniel mix for a groom. I verified twice with the groomer that I wanted a cocker cut which was the same as she was already cut, just shorter. When I returned to pick her up, she was completely shaved!! As if the groomer messed up so she decided to just shave Lucy down. She looked horrible. Maybe she was new ?? She offered 15% off, and I still tipped her $5 because she did work on her,but I was VERY unhappy and the look of disappointment on my mothers face when she saw her little Lucy was sad. Smaller PetSmart, which means a bit cramped. There's been some effort gone into the layout and organization of the store, the fish/reptiles/small animals are kinda squished into a small display area at the back which is simultaneously neat from a viewing perspective and horrific from an animals perspective. Worst, when we last went in, the rodent enclosure had a fan that was making noises you could hear halfway across the store and all of the rodents were clearly both disturbed by the sound and disturbed by lack of sleep from it. We notified a store member who made the effort to seem very receptive to the request to have it looked at, but then who just walked around an endcap and assumed we wouldn't notice him walk back along the other side of the aisle :( We double checked we hadn't accidentally walked into a PetCo. read more
