This is about grooming our toy poodle. Our previous groomer disappeared so we tried Petsmart grooming because we had a wait for a recommended groomer. Her appointment time was 11:30, and we delivered her on time. Groomers kept her until they texted just before 5:00 p.m. and left before we could pick her up. All previous groomers finished in less than 2 hours AND she was not matted nor excessively dirty as we wash her every 2 weeks. Why keep her over 5 hours? We were shocked when we arrived. She was cut the same length all over with short ears and no pom on her head or tail. She hardly looks like a poodle. We requested a standard poodle cut with a shaved face, feet, and ring around the tail and neck but got nothing like that. Poor girl even seems embarrassed when we look at her. read more

No major complaints--customer service has been fine, and they generally have what I need. If they don't, I just hit Amazon because who has time to run around? Sure, they're pricey, and somehow I always leave spending double what I planned (those squeaky toys really add up). This review is for the pet grooming department. My fur baby was in desperate need of a haircut and I decided to try Petsmart. As soon as I entered the area, I asked what type of hair dryer they use. When the employee told me the industrial type, I explained SEVERAL times that my dog is extremely afraid of them and would try to bite the hose. I requested a normal handheld dryer (she is fine with these) but I was told no. She assured me that they would keep it in low setting or let her air dry. A few hours later, an employee called to tell me that I needed to pick up my pet because she bit an employee while drying her. Of course, I was embarrassed because I have the most chill dog. When discussing the incident at the grooming section, the employee mentioned that they are legally not allowed to use the industrial dryers on animals with a flat nose, so they have to use regular hairdryers. Ummmm, I requested this in the beginning yet I was not told they are able to use them. Why in the world would they not accept my request in the beginning?? I am assuming the industrial dryer is much faster, but I told them MANY times how afraid she is of them. Since she can't speak, of course she would bite at it to stop them, only for the employee to have her hand where she is biting. Moral of the story is, if your fur baby is deathly afraid of these particular dryers, don't go to Petsmart. read more

My fiancé dropped off our corgi- pom mix for a full bath and haircut and when he tried to show the groomer a reference photo, she barely looked for a second and said "that photo doesn't help me at all" I love my pup and he's cute regardless but this cut is not what I asked for. And by hurt I mean bleeding and trauma that's irreversible. We now go to Happy Dog Grooming and we are over the moon. They go above and beyond in their care. So I repeat: go to Happy Dog Grooming. Much better grooming! The Store: If you're on a budget, make sure to price check their site. Sometimes, the Authority food is cheaper on the Petsmart website than in store but they will price match it for you. This applies to other items too. The manager and staff are very helpful too. They often have good toy deals on seasonal items as well. (Definitely better priced than Amazon and better quality than Walmart) So the store is still worth shopping at. read more

The grooming service here is always pitiful. Customer service from the associates in the grooming department needs to be worked on. The manager did not take the time to explain why she could not provide the service or other options thoroughly and in a kind manner. This is the second incident I've had with the grooming department. PetSmart company really needs to evaluate and retrain all staff in the grooming department including the manager. She was rude from the beginning upon entering and was very short with me and lacked empathy. It seemed as if she didn't want to provide the service at all and suggested I should leave. I was there yesterday to have my dog groomed. The girl working in the grooming part that said she was the one I talked to on the phone lied to the worker I was talking to and said I had not booked any trimming for my dog as well as the bath, nail filing etc. when I made the appointment on the phone. Consequently, they refused to honor my appointment even though the one mat my dog had could have been taken off in about five minutes and then the girl that was going to bathe my dog could have done it. There were four workers standing there and I only saw one other dog. The girl in the grooming salon then lied to the manager. He refused to listen to my side of the story and told me repeatedly that "they just couldn't make me happy." I even tried to call him and discuss the situation later and he said he had looked at my file and I had a complaint once before concerning my dog's nails. That was true as one time a few years ago they cut them instead of filing them like they were supposed to and then wanted to charge me again for their mistake. (Keep in mind that filing them was one of the instructions in her permanent file and they just messed up.) At that time I had gone to the old store manager and said they needed to file my dog's nails and that I wasn't going to pay again for something they did wrong. I don't believe that makes me impossible to please... just wanting a mistake corrected at no charge. I find it appalling that any store would employ this guy in a management position. I have been a customer there for over a decade and to be treated so disrespectfully is totally unacceptable. Do not go to this Petsmart because if you have a problem the manager will refuse to listen to you. I talked to an area leader yesterday and am still not done with this. And when I came in they said they'd recommend they give my dog a haircut but they wouldn't be able to do it that day. Wouldn't recommend renting a carpet cleaner from this location. I had a sick pup at home for a week (of course unknown how long it would have actually been) and ended up just starting off with a 24 hour rental. During the transaction I was required to pay a $30 deposit (understandable) and would get said deposit back upon return. Upon pick up I did initially expect the machine to be a bit cleaner but didn't mind. On the following day my dog was still sick, so I called the location and let them know that I would be needing it an extra day. The gentleman on the line said it would be no problem and $10 for every late day. The following day I ended up actually going into the location. I spoke with a very nice lady at the front check out and explained my situation. The representative then paged some other employee (I assume a manager) and let them also know what was going on. The employee then let me know that it would be no problem whatsoever that there were not be an extra fee charged & it would be $10 for everyday over. We'll today, 4 days from initial rental, my dog is finally in the clear so I go into the store to return the machine. As soon as i step foot I see a woman manager immediately come over to the check out. My boyfriend has a petsmart account and I put the rental under my phone number, which caused some confusion. The manager immediately says "we'll is that not your phone number, I've been trying to call you it's 4 days late." And then tries to charge me $40 with no return of the $30 deposit. After 10 minutes of being interrogated about who i spoke to and what manager she finally agreed to return the deposit and only charge me $10. Which is correct and what I was led to believe by 2 employees. This manager is very argumentative & implied that my communicating with TWO of her employees was not sufficient. In addition, while I am still standing there she decides to inspect the machine. and says as she as looking at the bottom of the cleaner "oh was it diarrhea?" Funny, because I actually didn't even use the actual vacuum, only the hose attachment. If she took the time to properly inspect machines when they rented and returned she would have known that. Or maybe even if she touched it she would feel the bottom is completely dry but not the hose! Not only did she blame me for this miscommunication on her employees end but also accused me of bringing back a dirty machine that was already dirty and that portion of the cleaner wasn't even used. I was actually going to browse around and buy some dog food after the return but had such a horrible taste my mouth I went to Petco and will continue to do so. read more

I had my dog Phil groomed for the first time here and I am very satisfied! Phil is a 60lbs Goldendoodle and his hair was long and he was quite matted up. He needed a good grooming and that's exactly what he got! Amalia was the lady who groomed him and she did such an excellent job! He looks so adorable and he smells fantastic. He was a tough job and I'm so glad he turned it fabulous. It was $98 total, that included a bath, hair cut, teeth brushing, nail filing, and ear cleaning. We tipped $30 extra because I knew the condition he was in before and she did a total 360 for our doodle. We will definitely be coming back. read more

Took my dog in for his nails to be trimmed. The groomer somehow tried to convince me that during the trimming, my dog bit his own paw despite being securely reinforced to the groomer's table. This, logically, does not make any sense and he's never done that while being groomed by any other groomer or even by me. And it's not likely that he'd try to reach down to his paw, just to bite his own paw, while standing on all four paws. It's more reasonable to say that he tried to escape from the groomer's table if anything at all; It seems like the groomer accidentally nicked him but didn't want to be held liable for it. Additionally, this location needs to stop selling expired products. This PetSmart location had a few dog food brand products on sale at 20% off and 50% off, and after checking the expiration date on them, I came to know that most were already expired. These should be removed entirely and not be left to sit on shelves, for sale. No one wants to nor will feed their pets expired products. The store associate also let us know that one of the brands was discontinuing it's production of dog food and that being the reason as to why the food was on the 20% off and 50% off sale section, and this is fine--but it should not be grouped alongside the expired, should-be-removed-from-shelves-but-isn't-yet products. Your customer's time spent checking on the expiration dates, and then having to set it back down is not profitable for retail stores whatsoever. Clearing shelves of expired products will allow customers to better allocate their time into checking out other products more likely to result in a sale. read more

Went in with my two daughters to get two fish for our fish tank. The staff in the fish area were not helpful at all and could have cared less about our questions. One had in AirPods and had to take them out when we approached them and neither person greeted us or remotely acted like they cared that we were there. In fact my oldest daughter commented about them not being very nice to us. Needless to say we did not go home with any fish and we will be going elsewhere for any and all of our fish care needs. read more

First and foremost, the checkout service in this place is absolutely terrible. Usually there is only one person at the register who moves like molasses in the winter, while the rest of the employees in the store disappear somewhere into a fourth dimension. And I have YET to run into one person in this store who behaves like they actually like animals. Maybe they do, but they are so dull-eyed and tired-looking at their jobs, it's hard to tell. If I have to wait in one more long line backed up behind a single, slow, grim looking cashier who is incapable of smiling, I'm going to take my business elsewhere. There are PLENTY of other options - Heck, the frantic Walmart across the street at least has capable cashiers... and I'll be greeted at the door too. UPDATE Feb 2, 2018 This is the first review I've ever updated. The reason for my update is that I believe this store has done a lot to change my perception of it in the last few months. Maybe my previous review gave the management something to think about? Anyway, I gave the place another try about a month later and the check out process had improved. I asked for assistance from a young guy working there and was pleasantly surprised to get a whole lot of help from him. This is really a review for the IAS adoptions held at this location for shelter cats, and the story of my journey to becoming a crazy cat lady. I'm a lifelong doggie fan, until one chilly Sunday afternoon in February. I wandered into this PetSmart to pick up a toy for my 100lb. pit-mix, and I saw her: Katy, ID# 34580436 - later to be called Freya Grace. She is the most laid back, calm cat ever to have existed. She literally emulates a goddess and she owned all three dogs the day she came home. Fast forward a few months later and I pick up my Neo, a sickly 2-month-old white kitten, now named Tobias. He's fat now and after having lost him 3 times, he's happier and healthy as ever. I came back for what is probably not the last time, to adopt a little kitten named Blues (now named Milo). Anyway, the woman who facilitated the adoptions; Kathleen, is so supportive during the process and after. She's a godsend. This is the Wal-Mart of the pet world. They have everything, including training, vet services and grooming. They also have cats for purchase, and often host dogs from the area organizations dedicated to helping them find forever homes. The place is big, and has everything you could want for your pet. Great selection. The staff is really cool too - everyone here loves animals. The customers are always awesome too - they are always fun to talk to about what they're looking for or what kind of dog I'm holding. (I volunteered here a couple times with DFW Animal Services). You can bring your dog and shop around. People are totally cool with it. It's a lot of fun. OH there's a scale - free - off to the side on the right as you walk in. Dogs were surprisingly cooperatve with me and would get on it no problem. Neat place. read more

The grooming department is a rip off. First off, my dog came back so scared and with quite a few patches. Secondly, my dog is 8 lbs and received the "Chihuahua Premium Package" which is $32. That price right there is ridiculous, but I can deal. However, I really wanted my dog to get a bandana, the lady working was adamant that she need the top dog. An extra $17, but it came with her teeth brushed among other things. Fine, we're looking at about $50 and the moment. Yikes. $50 for 8 pounds of dog with straight hair and all the needs is a shave. Whatever, I'm a slave to my dog, I agreed. I picked her up and she was not looking as good as she normally looks after a groomer trip. However, they also charged me $7 more for dematting and scissors. My dog had no matts whatsoever, it's not even the texture to get matts. They also FORGOT THE BANDANA. I was in a bit of a rush so I paid and left not even noticing the bandana as I was to shocked I paid $60 (including tax) for the grooming of an 8 pound dog with straight hair and I've never paid over $40 for a grooming session. Later, it was really bothering me that I didn't get a bandana and I was charged $7 for something that was not told to me and definitely unnecessary. So on the phone, they of course offered me to come and get a bandana. However, they're explanation of the $7 was basically a rip off, in my opinion. She said you can't just shave a chihuahua, they also need to go back and use scissors. Well excuse the fuck out me for buying the chihuahua premium package that doesn't include something so apparently necessary to have the dog look decent. And note this wasn't presented to me when I asked what the total would be before I left her. My dog didn't even look good. I need to go back over her with scissors and get some places they missed. Update I talked to the manager and she gave me a refund. She seemed genuinely concerned about my experience and asked me to come back and have my dog groomed with her. She explained that she wouldn't charge the $7 for scissors and what not, and plans to talk to her employees about how and why they charge it. I would probably give it one more try, but only have it done by the manager. I think some of the groomers are not quite as caring as others. read more

I would give 0 stars if I could. Awful service. Had our dog get his hair cut here four different times. We booked an online appointment for a weekend. We came in and were told " there is a note that because your of gets too excited when other dogs walk by and has difficulty with cutting around his face" that he should come on a weekday when we have time. We have a small Maltese.. not even a big dog that can't be handled. No one ever told us this. No one even called to let us know once the appointment was already made. They say they are busy when there are only 2 dogs getting groomed . Also, they told us they need to shave off all the hair down to the pink skin because of some matting at the ears. I asked if they could just cut it down and brush as best they could and they refused. Awful location for services. This is more of a management issue and if they are busy on a weekend then they need to pay their folks more or hire more staff. Do not take your dog here !!! read more

Never get your dogs groomed here! Bad customer service and management. We had our 2 dogs appointments and both came out a mess. They were not bathed. Their haircuts are not good. Totally uneven ears and head. I called the grooming salon after we arrived home and spoke to a staff who was giving me excuses. She said that one of my dogs expressed himself and that she tried to clean him off the best she could. I asked why the other dog smelled still. Then I was told that dog has an ear infection. A complete lie! Then I was asking about their feet not being done. I was told that one dog was stressed and getting nippy at the groomer when doing his feet. Never happened to anyone else. I think another excuse as to why my dogs don't have cleaned up feet and trimmed nails. I was told to speak to a manager. The manager said they would bath my dogs the next day. No way! I am not letting my dogs get stressed with your poorly performing staff. I was then told I could get 15% refunded back to if I came back to the store in the next hour or 2 days from then. I'm just an aggravated customer. I've been to the grooming shop at Pet Smart SIX times, and have only had my dog groomed once. Doesn't make sense does it? They always seem to have an excuse as to why they can't do something, or the appointment will just cancel without you knowing about it. Example: I drove my puppy 20 minutes to Pet Smart, the lady goes, "oh we had to cancel the appointment the groomer had to leave." While I understand everyone has a life outside of work, you should have called and told me. So I wasted over an hour with driving there, having an useless conversation, and then having to drive BACK to my house to drop my dog off bc I had other things planned while he was supposed to be getting groomed. I could write a book on the rest of it, but I actually need to find another groomer to give my baby a haircut. I don't recommend this location of PetSmart, it's more of a nuisance given that it's a hit or miss when you go. read more
