This is a delayed review. We took my two golden retrievers to get groomed the day before my WEDDING DAY at this PetSmart. Once we picked them up, my oldest dog Presley came back limping really badly. When I called to find out what happened and to express how upset I was, they immediately said nothing happened to her and that my other dog, youngest one's nail had been cut too short. Obviously something happened to her, if my dog comes back limping. What's sad is, she was the one walking me down the aisle. So not only did my dog limp down the aisle with me, her leg has never been the same. Now we just recently found out that her leg might actually be broken or have a fracture from this day. I'm hoping someone at PetSmart Corporate reads this review and looks into video footage of this day. If you claim to love animals so much, do better with your hiring and recruitment on groomers who are taking pets into their hands. This is not okay to hurt an animal, but also lie to your customers about what happened. read more

My sister got a new puppy so I'm in full auntie mode! I took my furry nephew (Farley!) to PetSmart for the first time to do some shopping and get him exposed to seeing other dogs & people. The staff were so nice and the space was clean & well stocked. I only wish there were more bandanas/clothing- there was only one bandana and it was huge. We got a few things, prices are comparable to anything you'd see online. We are also looking into taking him to the puppy classes to further socialize him. They do require proof of vaccination which is wonderful and essential. Fun outing! read more

- - CARPET STEAMER RENTAL - - I was today years old when I found out that you can rent a carpet steamer at petsmart! I called ahead of time to inquire about the process and the pricing. The manager went over everything on the phone with me. So here is the deets- $40 for a 24-hour rental ($35 deposit which will be refunded once you return the cleaner in good form). I already have carpet cleaning solutions at home so I didn't need to buy- but you can purchase the solutions in the store. The manager, Evelyn, demonstrated how to use the steamer and it's pretty easy. The steamer is pretty compact, fits easily in the backseat of my car. It's roughly about 20-25 lbs if you need to carry it up the stairs. Most importantly, the steamer worked! read more

I took my little Yorkie Sammy to the Banfield veterinarian clinic at this PetSmart off El Toro Rd. in Mission Viejo. I was very nervous and concerned about possibly what they may find with Sammy as he's been having a lot of congestion and difficulty clearing his nasal passage. There was a very lovely lady at the front desk of the veterinarian clinic. She was very helpful. She asked me questions about my dog to start the process and just her demeanor alone made me feel more at ease. I'm so sorry I forgot her name but she was working at the front desk on the day of January 6, 2025. She had kind of slightly curly hair that was a pretty light, blondish, grayish color. So after she checked me in, I sat down, and I waited to go to the back of the clinic. This is when a gentleman by the name of Dave walked out, and he introduced himself as the veterinarian tech. Right off the bat Dave just had a demeanor that put me at ease when he smiled. He acknowledged my other little dog that I had with me at the time as well. Her name is honey, and he complimented Sammy. His voice was kind and reassuring, and he introduced himself to me and escorting me to the back. While he was taking the intake on why I had brought my dog Sammy to the clinic,he took the time as well to actually converse with me. We talked about his dogs as well and you can tell Dave is a big animal lover, and he's rescued dogs before. Just to hear him speak and see the compassion in his face , hear the compassion in his voice that means so much, especially when your dog means the world to you. You want to know that the Veterinary professionals who are working with your animals, love and care for dogs just as much as you do. Furthermore he put me at ease because I was so stressed and worked up as to what they may find or what they were going to tell me and I was just hoping that somebody would give me some answers for my dog so he can clear up his nasal passages. Very shortly after that, Dr. Yang walked into the room. I must say that I had a very minimal wait time from the start that I checked in at the front desk to the time I saw Dr. Yang was probably maybe 15 minutes. It was very quick and I appreciate that. When Dr. Yang walked through the door, she walked in with a smile on her face. She actually had a very big smile on her face and it made me smile too. Dr. Yang took the time to listen to my concerns as I explained my dog's symptoms and what my concerns were. She gave him a good exam and she helped clarify things for me to help rule out what his condition probably was not but also tell me what it might be and that's important because I wanted to feel like I could walk away from this clinic and have some help for my dog. After her examination, she prescribed some medication for my dog.. It was just such a breath of fresh air to have a veterinarian and a veterinarian tech who were both so gracious and kind and actually concerned about my dog. They didn't rush me as I was speaking. They weren't disinterested in what I had to say. They took their time and explained everything to me and answered all my questions. Dave also took the time to make sure that he explained how I should administer the medication to my dog. So basically I know I'm rambling here, but I feel like when you get good service like this, when you have professionals such as Dr. Yang and David and also the very kind and professional lady at the front desk of the clinic this makes you want to come back. This is what makes you put your trust in a clinic that they're going to do the right thing by your dog. Thank you so much Dr. Yang and thank you so much Dave for taking all my anxiety and my stress away and helping me be at ease and loving on my two little dogs and showing them all the care and kindness that they deserve. Stopped here to use the bathroom, which I was able to find and do pretty easily. Odd bathroom though - the toilet paper was installed *above* the toilet (behind the person sitting down). ?? WTF? Who is this for? Anyway, I made it work. Took a look around the store before I left. The birds and mammals looked to be in clean housing and looked healthy. I didn't check the reptiles, and the beta were a mixed bag. Some looked healthy and in (tiny) cups with clean water, while others were in discolored water and looked extremely unhappy/unwell. Unfortunately I get the feeling if I'm not *seeing* this it's only because someone does their job and moves the sick fish off the sales floor, not because it's not happening. Feels like if I'm seeing it, it must be even worse than it looks... Anyway, not the worst I've seen, but could do better for sure. Oh, I do like their variety of guinea pig toys. It's extensive and a lot of them are good quality. I also appreciated that they're finally offering cages that are actually a good size, sold as "start-up" cages for these critters. That said, they were also still selling cages that are really crummy and not the right size/shape or style for guinea pigs, marketing them as good for guinea pigs. GROOMING The last time I brought my Labrador, Sadie, she was 14 years old (she passed Feb 2023). I recently got a new puppy (a Havanese, Lucy) and the first thing the groomer, Jennifer did was acknowledge that I used to bring Sadie! I was so touched by that. I'm not a fan. I have brought my dog here twice now. I'm done- first time my baby got his nailed trimmed he bled. Second time I booked online and thought I would give him a better treatment package.. ( nails , ears & teeth) When I got there, I was told the prices were wrong online and for what I thought I was paying for I just got a nail trim. Me and my cousin brought our dog to this place to get grooming around three weeks ago. After about two hours we came back to the store, we found that our dog hasn't been taken shower at all. So we talk to the staff to figure out what happened. And they told us they did do shower for our dog. We said our dog wouldn't look like this if got showered. Cause the dog didn't smell like being taken a shower and wasn't fuzzy at all. We got a little bit angry since the staff insisted they did shower for our dog while it was apparently not. Finally we talked to the manager, and gave our solution to only pay the inspection fee before grooming. Although we didn't pay the rest fee, we still wasted about two hours and also had no idea about how could this happened. I came to the store this morning for a bath and nail trim for my dog, Frida. I was told I would have to come back at 3:00pm. I did and was told it would take 2 to 3 hours. My 25 pound dog has short hair, no haircut needed--just wash and nail clip. Natalie went out of her way to accommodate us and told us she could do it in an hour. I was so grateful for her kind, helpful attitude. Her supervisor was not as helpful. He said "An Express" service would be another $15. I said ok. He said I had to schedule it that way. When I came back, I was told Frida did not cooperate with nail clipping. I was surprised because our first visit to Petsmart last month was for a nail clipping, and we had no problem. I didn't expect to pay $46 for a bath with no nails clipped and a wet dog. I was told I had to pay full price. I'm not happy to realize that Petsmart schedules multiple appointments at the same time when they don't have the staff necessary to accommodate all their customers. Leaving my 9 month pup in a new place, with dogs barking for 3 hours sounded more like torture. I expect better. read more

I booked grooming with Robert. When I dropped off my cocker spaniel, we went over in detail what I wanted. He was supposed to keep the natural back, which I had just stripped, and clip and shape the legs, tummy and ears. I usually groom him myself, but when the hair gets too long I need a pro to shape him up. So I was pretty shocked when I saw what had been done to him - he was completely shaved down. Robert was gone, the two women who were there looked up his order and said that he got the cut I asked for. I'm so glad I had waited to tip after I picked him up - the tip stayed in my pocket. I won't be going there ever again. And it's going to take almost a year to get the coat on his back grown out again. read more

I have to be fair and give a decent rating - every time Sadie and I go in most employees are pretty nice and today they had her favs - her chewies and Sadie was a happy camper . No it is not her LOCAL JOINT - but it works when it's hot and she needs her fix . There was a long line of peps waiting to be helped when we walked in but the manager opened another line once she over heard and saw the line with more then 6 people in line . This review is for the pet hotel only. I'm not sure what happened here, but we purchased a 2 nights of the standard size kennel for our tiny 6 pound chihuahua. We generally go to the Tustin location but decided to try this one for a change. Honestly, I will say that Chibi (our dog) does not like hotels period. But I have never seen him act the way he did when we picked him up from this location. He was so afraid and crying when we picked him up that he leaped out of my arms and ran away as fast as he could from PetSmart. I wish he could talk to me and tell me what happened! Needless to say, Chibi and I am now traumatized and will never let Chibi stay here again. Poor guy :( read more

A groomer named Rachel butchered my standard poodle. She shaved her down unevenly everywhere she wasn't supposed to touch her ears or head and she was supposed to leave Pom's on her feet. The didn't clean her ears at all but shaved all the hair off. My dog looks like something out of a horror movie!! I screamed in shock when I saw her. When I called to complain they laughed. I'm a regular customer. I have had the worst experience in the store today the one off El Toro road. I have bought many cat scratches and we got the one that looks like a camper. The worst product in the world. We have bought at least 4 of them and they break in weeks. It's a manufacture problem you would think that Pet smart would stand by the product they bring in their store. We had the cashiers tell us to return them and they would give us credit. I had time today so I went in with two of them that were completely broken and the manager told me in the rudest way well ma'am they are scratchers so they will break. I told them look at my receipt. Look at my history, you'll see how many times I've bought this product because my cat loves this. So you know when your animal loves something, you'll keep on buying it. I'm not the type to leave reviews especially because I also work in costumer service so I try to be understanding. I'm not sure if one of the cashiers at the front is racist or if I remind her of someone she doesn't like but she was laughing and smiling with the costumer in front of me and as soon as she got to me her smile dropped. She never once looked up at me during the whole transaction. When I gave her my phone number she acted like she couldn't understand me and very loudly asked "WHAT?!" At the end of the transaction she gave me my receipt without looking up at me or telling me anything. I told her "have a good day" hoping that maybe I was reading too much into it and she didn't even respond. I never did anything to warrant that type of treatment and it certainly wasn't an off day for her since she was nice to the person in front of me (who was also latina but looked white). Do not go there. The employees do not know what they are doing. They sold us a baby bearded dragon, one of the employees said we need to feed him crickets and mealworms. We did. Our baby dragon stopped eating since and will most likely die. We asked our vet and he said you should never give mealworms to baby dragons. Went back to the store, asked for a manager. "A girl" told us she was (she was obviously not) and told us they can exchange or refund us. We told her an employee told us to give our dragon mealworms. She answered: I'm sorry it's a mistake we are human. I found that shocking. We obviously refused to exchange him. They have all the babies dragons together in a small tank. She got upset when I told her they don't know what they are doing. They have no knowledges at all. I'll Never buy again from their store. read more

I shopped at PetSmart on 23602 El Toro Rd. in Lake Forest. I was looking for a large oral syringe so that we could give Paisley her antibiotics. I walked through most of the store to see if there was sale items that I could buy for our two cats. I bought two Kong refillable mouse toys for Paisley and Buddy. Buddy got his out of the bag, he wanted it now. So I filled both mice with catnip and they both loved them. I also bought Whisker City nail clipper to trim Paisley's nails. That was time well spent.
