Adrienne groomed my Border Collie mix, Duchess last week and she did an outstanding job. Unbelievable. I stopped going here for grooming for almost 18 months because of previous other complaints. Thought I'd try again. The new complaint takes their pathetic customer service to all new levels. I took my Maltese in for a grooming and instructed the girl to trim his body down to a number 7. And clean up the ears and face. Keep a cut mustache and ears. And the curly tail. Without consulting me she clipped him down to nothing. Including the ears, face, mustache the whole 9 yards. I give 2 stars because the manager was kind enough to waive the grooming fee. As he could see I was not happy. Our dogs hair will grow back so I'm going to get over it too. read more

I adopted the sweetest puppy from the shelter 2 months ago. I brought her into Petsmart on Ramon near Walmart in Palm Springs. I made the appointment online and I was quoted by the woman online that it would be $25 for a bath and to have her nails trimmed which is exactly what I wanted. When I got there the staff was very nice. The groomer came out and was extremely attentive and sweet to my pup. This was my first experience there and I asked how long it might be, they said not to long and that they would give me a call 20 minutes before I need to pick her up. About 3 1/2 hours passed and I hadn't heard from anyone so I called them and they said oh she's all done you can come pick her up now. I went and she was completely lethargic and out of it, she was still wet, and was having diarrhea all over the place. The groomer said she thought it was that she was nervous from being in the kennels because she's not used to that. I went to pay at the register at front of store and what I thought would be $25 was now $66. No explanation except that I supposedly ordered extra trimming or something. Iat this point I paid without argument in order to get out of there because the dog literally was going to the bathroom everywhere and I was concerned about her. The only time that she's ever behaved anything remotely close to this was when she got fixed. When I talked to the vet after she was fixed they said it was because of the sedatives. Not to worry that it would wear off but it took her a good week to get back to normal. Watching her today I thought she was acting the exact same way. I brought her to the vet and he thought the same thing. He took blood to check her for sedatives. I'll find out on Monday. This is really shocking. Did not get a good vibe there at all. read more

I have been going to this PetSmart to groom my puppy for a long time. Everyone is extremely nice and does a good job. This was the first time I ran into the manager, Rachel. She seems to be angry at everyone, mean, aggressive, and I certainly did not want her to be in care of my puppy. When she speaks, everyone around is visibly tense and feels uncomfortable because of the way she talks to people. We took our puppy home because we did not want her to be in Rachel's care and I would advise the same to the rest of you who encounter Rachel when you go there. I am extremely disappointed because this used to be my favorite PetSmart and I felt very comfortable leaving my puppy in their care, but after my recent experience I can no longer say I feel comfortable leaving my puppy there if Rachel is there. read more

A small dog that has no contact with other animals, is only outside in a desert gravel walled yard to relieve himself and was groomed at the Petsmart on Ramon Rd location 10 days prior owner receives call that he is infested withfleas and cannot be trimmed. Go immediately to pick up dog and take him to vet for inspection of which there are no fleas. Call manager who contends that he was called to grooming where 3 fleas were placed in water to determine that they were fleas. So tell me what is the obvious location that the dog had contact with fleas? Called friend who described same incident with her mothers pet. Petsmart did sell us an expensive file treatment as we left. Won't be back and we have huge tips. read more

We usually go back and forth with who grooms my dog, but after a hit and miss we finally found someone who absolutely loves my dog and does his hair cut so well. I absolutely recommend going to Kimberle. She knows exactly how to capture the beauty of a dog and knows what each owner expects from a dog groomers. She actually take a the time to make sure a dog's hair cut is cut like the owner states. Our dog usually gets matted from behind his ears and he usually need to have it shaved off but she double checks that he doesn't look ridiculous. This location sells cans that are beyond dented... and at full price! It is so dangerous to sell deeply dented cans as it can allow bacteria to enter the can! I asked the cashier how much a can of dog food would be since it was so badly dented, hoping they'd be surprised it was on the sales floor at all, but instead was told that it would still be sold at full price. Not looking to shop at a pet store that wouldn't be knowledgeable on these types of dangers. Shameful! read more

Ive always came to PetSmart for all my grooming appointments. And this is the first time I walked out unhappy with the customer service. I took my dog for a grooming appointment with Casey B. because she had cut it the previouse time and I liked it so I requested her. Appointment was at 5:30pm and I received a call at 8:38pm saying she would be ready in 10 minutes. I get there and I can see the groomer still working on her so I wait outside so I dont get my dog worked up. Then I see the groomer dipping my dogs back leg in a bowl, maybe containing water? So I go in there to see if shes okay and she said oh yeah shes fine. So I take her and start walking towards the entrance and I see her back leg has blood all over. Obviously shes not okay. I ask for a store manager, and get Kevin. Hes looking around the leg looking for a cut and says looks like there is no cut, maybe they just clipped the nail to short? Okay, still doesnt explain why I took my dog to a groomer to get her cleaned and walk out with a bloody leg. Also why are you not informing the owner of the incident before they walk out?! The groomer comes up after. She explains what happened, and said "it happens at least once a day its normal." As a dog owner who confides in them with their dogs that does not make me feel good that its a "normal thing." Overall, It would not be such a big deal if it was accuretly explained to me before I walked out of the groomers. I understand people make mistakes. Casey did a good job cutting my dogs hair, just wish it ended up differently. Also the manager Kevin was no help at all. He looked more worried about his closing papers than about the situation. First time was when i took my moms dog to get groomed the first Couple of times they did a great job but once our groomer suzie left the ps store and got transfered to la quinta we stopped going there... They have the cat food the vet recommended for our ginormously fat cat. They also had a volunteer trying to push kittens on people who were already buying cat stuff. The store seems old and smells a bit like wet dog. Why do I need to be a member and carry another freaking club card? Can't you just realize how annoying that is, and give everyone the same pricing? I think they had what I needed but staff kept saying "probably" or "I don't know" and kept pressuring me to buy a puppy coupon book even though I don't live in this city. I asked for help with a crate and the salesperson seemed uninterested so they called another person who never came. After waiting like 5 minutes the salesperson finally agreed to help me with the crate but had no recommendations as to which one would be best and really did not seem to be genuinely interested or listening to me and my needs for the crate. I went over to petco and they were very helpful and pleasant to deal with. read more

I visit this store frequently to purchase dog food as well as taking my dogs for grooming and bathing. I have found the employees of the store to be very helpful and knowledgeable no matter what I present to them. They are courteous and offer good information about new products that I might not be familiar with. All employees at the checkouts are friendly and always ask if I need help carrying my large bags of dog food to the car even when I am not alone. When it comes to grooming, Emily has done a fantastic job taking care of two dogs that require this service. Both dogs love her and as their coats grow out they continue to look great which is not always the case with other groomers. When I need to have a dog bathed with short notice, I feel they go the extra mile to work me in and once again, do an excellent job. There's no question that I will continue to use this store for dog food and other products as well as my grooming needs. read more

This store is clean and well stocked. Pathetic customer service! If I could give zero stars to this store I totally would. I don't live in the area due to my work schedule but my parents who live in Palm Springs take care of my dog. I purchased a dog training program over a month ago and I was told I would be receiving a call back once the trainer (Ralph) was back from vacation. They said it would only take two weeks for them to give ma a call back and arrange the schedule for my dog's training. However, three weeks passed by and no phone calls received. I pretty much called every day and left voicemails and messages with other employers for any of the trainers to contact me a call back. But still I received no calls from anyone. Finally, on my last attempt someone answered the phone after over a month of trying to get a hold of anyone. I spoke with an employee who informed me the trainers assistant (I believe his name is Philip, he's skinny, white and wears glasses) would call me back. After a week no calls back again. Finally today I was able to get a hold of the trainer's assistant and he claimed to have called me ONCE and left a voicemail but the truth is that he never did! This person could not even articulate his words and was making up excuses for not calling me back (yes, for over a month he claimed to have called me ONCE but he actually never did!) I drove all the way to Palm Springs on this day and went to the store to get my money back. And also the employee that attended me, Deborah, was the rudest person ever and they ended up giving me less money back than what I had originally paid for the training. It was a very frustrating experience dealing with these people, pointless arguments and I will never go back to this store. Worst customer service experience and trainers who do not care for their clients as they don't appreciate their work and are careless towards the clients' needs. If you appreciate your time and the quality of any training you want for your beloved dog, don't even consider the training at this store. read more

This review is limited to my most recent experience with the current grooming staff in Palm Springs during the Covid pandemic, which may account for the poor service I received. My dogs desperately needed a grooming & I was fortunate to be able to book an appointment at this salon on line with the only available groomer (or so I thought at the time ). Let's call this groomer Ms. A. She was the only groomer available on the day I wanted & I figured out why. I asked another groomer I had previously used there (& whom I was marginally satisfied with) if Ms. A was experienced enough given the fact that one of my dogs is 15 years old & needs special handling. She told me that Ms. A is very good with old dogs, which led me to be more comfortable with booking with her. I left both of my dogs in her care. Lucy, the 15 year old was matted so I agreed that she should be shaved down as close as possible but I asked for her to try to make it look "decent". About 45 minutes later. I received a call from Petsmart management saying that she couldn't finish grooming my 15 year old dog because she couldn't stand on the table for long enough. I told her this was never a problem with the previous groomer & asked if she can be assisted by the other groomer. The manager, Corey told me that because of Covid, the groomers would not be able to assist each other because of social distancing. This made no sense, because when I saw the groomers in the shop, they were not maintaining a strict 6 feet distance from each other even though they were wearing masks. In addition, my question would then be "why couldn't the more senior groomer ask the other less experienced groomer to keep 6 feet of distance from her while she shows her how to groom my dog properly?" Also, does that mean that no groomer training & interaction has taken place since Covid started a year ago? That doesn't give me a good feeling. So they decided to simply stop grooming Lucy altogether after what looked like no longer than 5 minutes. When I was forced to pick her up I found her shaven down completely in some parts of her body while other parts still had clumps of hair sticking out. Her face & ears were untouched as were her legs from her knees to her toes. (The ears were especially long & unwieldy because the last groomer there failed to trim them properly.) My poor baby looked like an abandoned mangy mutt! They didn't even bathe her or brush the excess hair off of her body so she was all dirty & itchy from this complete hack job with loose hair hanging from her body. They didn't even try to even out the shaved parts of her body. She looked like she was being readied for emergency surgery. Ms. A. & the manager, Corey told me that they will "of course" not charge me for her grooming! Really! I was horrified when I picked her up! I was nearly in tears. I thought that went without saying! I should have been comped for the other dog as well, which was only a decent job at best. Luckily, I was able to get an emergency appointment with the Wizard of Paws, whose groomer miraculously fixed the disaster that Ms. A left. He said he had no problem grooming her & she had no problem standing through the entire session. He was surprised that the PetSmart groomer had such a hard time with her & had no patience for older dogs. I know I always have this issue with her when I bathe her at home. She refuses to stand up straight because she simply doesn't want to be bathed but when it's time for her to leave the bathtub she jumps out by herself like a gazelle. An experienced groomer would be able to sense that, but obviously this PetSmart groomer was clueless. read more

Love pet smart!!! They sell our brand dog food, Eukanuba, and the XL puppy pads we like, they have a wide variety of food, toys, treats and training supplies as well. They offer training classes, I have not used them for training, but have witnessed a training session while shopping. The trainer sounded knowledgeable and was doing this particular class out in the store isles, as she was training the pets to listen and focus on the owner with distractions around... They have a special area for training too. They also have the Petsmart Grooming Salon (haven't used yet, have an appt the 31st I'll update then) and Banfield pet hospital inside, separately ran from Pet Smart, but inside the store. I love Banfield as well, not only is it conveniently located inside my favorite pet store they have an annual health plan that's affordable and includes unlimited office Visits, you have to pay for meds, extra procedures/test or labs, but if you're a paranoid pet parent or a cautious one like my husband, he says better safe then sorry with our babies... Unfortunately I feel like the employee's aren't as helpful or as knowledgeable as the "other" pet store is... read more

AVOID THIS GROOMER AT ALL COSTS!!! Sadly, this place is a real racket. Beware as they deal in bait-and-switch on every customer. Their track record is horrible and they have even been spotlighted in the news. Their handling of dogs has been so awful that they have experienced "a tragedy" as they call it (a dog needlessly dying in their care) more often than they like to admit. I've lived in Palm Springs nearly forty years and am appalled at this kind of greedy, callous "business plan" that is corporate wide with them. They even attempted to strong arm me into agreeing to and paying for services/extras I did not want nor did I ask for and were relentless in harassing me when I declined! Who needs this crap? She does a great job and is always pleasant, and always looks me in the eye when we are speaking (a big deal for me). I am sorry about the previous review about lice, I hope Petsmart contacted customers whose dogs were at the salon during that period of time. It appears as though Petsmart did the right thing and will hopefully continue to act as a responsible business in the community. I still trust a salon where I can see what is happening. I have had a bad experience with a private salon where you drop off and pick up. Caught the groomer in the act of not being so nice to a dog. Made me realize things happen we do not see. I also have a friend who interned for a groomer who treated animals improperly. IT HAPPENS A LOT! So I feel as though Petsmart is my go to salon. Always there and always reliable. This pet smart grooming center is so ridiculous. My husband and I brought our dogs at here after we called the grooming center and checked if there is available spot. They said they only have one spot left to BASIC BATH. I didn't hear it wrong. Then it took us an hour to get there. When we walked in the grooming center. Yes, dogs are barking so loud inside. And a groomer comes out with the frustrating facial expression. I can tell she is not happy with dogs. And then, they said they are able to fit my dogs into the schedule. And then the girl with green hair said we need to show dog's rabies record in order to give het shower. However, we have been to petsmart at least 4 times in LA. And in the first time, we already showed their rabies record. For some reason, there is no updates in the computer. I even brought them to several other petsmarts in LA, and they all gave them a bath. The girl looked the record that they have been to other petsmarts, but the girl still said no, she asks me to show the paper record to her. And promised once she has the record, she will be able to take the dog. Okay, thank god I brought one of the dog's rabies record with me in the car. She is a siberian samoyed and she is imported from Russia. So her record is half Russian and half english translation. Then the girl said it's in foreign language she doesn't understand. And she said the record is a sticker and hand written date. BUT DO YOU SEE THE SIGNATURE AND STAMP RIGHT BESIDE THE RABIES STICKER????????????? My other dog is from the US, and his health record is also hand written. What's wrong with hand written??? Then she called the manager and said the dogs don't have correct rabies record and she doesn't have time to give her bath. And made the excuse that in the call, we only said the nail trimming and didn't say basic bath???? Why would I say nail trimming if all I wanted is to bath my dogs???? These excuses are so interesting. Ok, so I left, because I don't want to argue anymore and I DO NOT WANT HER TO BATH MY BELOVED DOGS AND I DON'T KNOW IF THEY MADE THOSE DOGD INSIDE BARKS SO MISERABLY. (In other petsmart I never hear any annoying barking. And the groomers were always very nice. Anyway, I did everything she asked, and I guess since she doesn't own the petsmart and she is just earning the salary, then she doesn't have to defend the business. My dog is 1 years old and hates being touched and being handled , I made her an appointment to go get groomed by amber and I just warned her that my dog does bite and doesn't behave but amber insisted that she will do anything she can to make her feel comfortable and get cleaned at the same time . When I picked up my dog she was so happy and all clean .. I highly recommend amber to groom your dogs she's super gentle and handles with care . My dogs will continue to be groomed by amber . I was taking my puppy for an introduction to grooming. I wanted a bath and a small trim. I specifically said just trim around her eyes and DONT take the hair off her nose. I proceeded to show the groomer a picture also. She was very confident and assured me she could do what i asked. When i came back for my pulpy the groomer had shaved all the hair off of her nose, exactly what i asked her not to do. My puppy is a labradoodle i didnt want the typical poodle cut for her and thats what i got. If u want a specific cut or have instructions dont take your dog here! read more

This is the second time I've been in and that kid with the green hair is soooo incredibly rude! First time I was luckily checked out by a pleasant cashier that was from another store. The green haired kid was being rude to her when she asked him questions. This time I get the the pleasure of having him as my cashier. First thing I asked, I have a coupon but I'm not sure it applies to this. So if not, I won't get it. Denied, and his response, "it says right on there..." ok dude, that's why I asked, I wasn't sure. He finishes ringing me up. I move the basket to the floor off the conveyor belt to the other side with full intentions of putting it back. I do that with carts as well. It's just good manners and the right thing to do.If I wasn't planning on taking it back I probably would have just left it there. Anyway I go to reach for my things and before I bend down he says, "and get your basket". Excuse me? Yes of course I'll put the basket away but what is with this kid and his attitude? I just adopted a kitten and I have their coupon book and I'm excited to use it. But I'll just spend full price and go to Petco for now on. No one in there seems happy to be there. The entire time I was there, there was one person stocking cat food that said "hello". I promise you Petsmart, send some undercover shoppers in there and you will see for yourself. These employees are not happy, ever, can't even be fake nice. Imagine if you had a decent friendly staff!? I bet you'd receive better business. Especially being affiliated with the local animal shelters. That kid has the WORST attitude, so bad I looked to the guy to my right and I apologized to him! My rating isn't based on the store in general but rather the employee. I asked about a kitten that was up for adoption and she just shrugged me off and then when the cat was sick throwing up I brought it to her attention and she just replied, "awe poor cat, his mom will be here soon." She didn't seem to care and wasn't doing anything for her to not attend to the cats cage. I noticed fallen out teeth in the cage and the cats just looked poorly attended to. I have two cats and adore them, it was very heartbreaking to see the condition of the cats and the negligent care from the employees. read more

She did not follow basic instructions, gave a very inconsistent/sloppy cut, and to make it worse was very inconsiderate when I picked up my dog. The grooming manager gave me the run-around after I called Petsmart to tell them about my experience. The entire set up seems like a factory.
