My rating isn't based on the store in general but rather the employee. I asked about a kitten that was up for adoption and she just shrugged me off and then when the cat was sick throwing up I brought it to her attention and she just replied, "awe poor cat, his mom will be here soon." She didn't seem to care and wasn't doing anything for her to not attend to the cats cage. I noticed fallen out teeth in the cage and the cats just looked poorly attended to. I have two cats and adore them, it was very heartbreaking to see the condition of the cats and the negligent care from the employees. read more

I had an issue with the groomers when I showed up and they would not give my standard Poodle the cut I wanted... I just wanted 1-2" off his length. The girl insisted he needed to be shaved. We argued for a little while and I was thinking i really should not leave my dog there now I fear of his welfare. I thought to myself I was being ridiculous and left him. OMG, when I picked him up he immediately started favoring his front left leg and would not stop licking it. I have no idea what she did but it looks like a burn of some sort about 4" long and 1" wide. I was so upset.... he has no hair in that area now. I wish I could post pictures on here. That is the worse place with false smiles and hateful hearts that would do this to a dog. read more

The only reason for one star is so I Can report how bad they treat their customers. After calling me to schedule my dogs for baths, when I arrived the sales pitch began for extras to increase the cost. I had been a four year client but that ended today. Do not go there for good customer service or pet care as they provide neither and have way too much attitude. The store manager was useless as well. Grooming services erratic at best. I showed up for an appt. no one was available. Waited around then left. No apology nothing. Made another appt. It took 5 hours before they finished my dogs and never called to notify me I had to contact them to find out what was taking so long. They all were scrambling to see what happened to my dogs who were still wet when I took them. Never again incompetent and unprofessional all the way up to corporate level. read more

Sometimes they are nice but some other times they are cold and removed. I saw a dog hanging by the neck from a grooming platform ready to die from sofocation. The groomer left the dog unattended while the dog was attached to the grooming platform bt the neck. I had to call for help when I saw the dog falling off the platform and still attached by the neck. It was a traumatic experience for me. I wonder what takes place in the back seccion of the store where we are not allowed to go. read more

Dont show up 10 minutes early to your appointment, as you will be shown the bench and told to wait. My 6 lbs Yorker was sent home our last visit because he supposedly bit the groomer! He is 8 years old and been groomed every 6 weeks for his entire life! Never had a problem, and now he is limping! Will never go back read more

I went to this store yesterday and this is going to be a little TMI but i went to go to go to the bathroom oh my God i have never seen a bathroom like the before it was so dirty no nothing to well you know what I'm trying to say i am going to call the main office today to let them know about this i would never go back to this store. I talked to one of the people that work in the Banfield part of the store even told me that i should call corp office. Was very dissappionted with our groomer at petsmart today. After going there for 10 years with our little shitzu, she calls the day before our appt and suddenly our dogs age and the fact that she has seizures (which she has had for 10 years) is an issue now. I have always been up front about our dogs health. It seemed like she didn't want to do her so awsome, now I need to find another groomer. Thanks though, now I know what questions to ask. read more

We've used PetSmart many times for nail trimming and grooming. Unfortunately our dog started having a nervous habit of chewing the top of his foot. Now PetSmart won't even clip his nails because he has an "open wound." They won't even take him if we wrap the wound. I guess dogs that are injured or post surgery have to go without grooming. read more

Beware of this Petsmart Scam - if you buy Prescription Dog Food - they will not sell it to you unless you use on of their vets, have a note from a vet etc. Depends on who checks you out. We have taken our dogs to PetSmart in other cities for grooming, and have always had decent experiences. But the grooming staff at this PetSmart are truly exceptional. A number of things that impressed me - very friendly staff. They got down on the floor to interact with and reassure the dogs. They asked questions, and listened to our specific requests. Very clean shop. Although busy, neither the staff nor the dogs being groomed seemed stressed. Another great thing is two groomers were waiting to take our two dogs at the appointed time, and they were ready when promised three hours later. Not put in cages for hours. Best of all the dogs looked great, faces, eyebrows, tails - every detail was perfect. Really can't say enough about these guys. read more

Everyone is so friendly here! Emphasis on FRIENDLY. I bring my Maltese to the groomers and honestly everyone that does her hair is amazing, she can be so difficult but she always comes out happy (maybe she's happy it's over). Went in today to get Pepper (my lab mix) a bath. She is a rescue and has separation anxiety. It is stressful to leave her with strangers but after seeing how well she was treated, I'll be coming here from now on. Her groomer (Jackie) was amazing! I loved that they gave me a report card, she got an A+. She was so happy when I picked her up, and her groomer told me how much she loved her! read more

I don't write very many reviews and the ones I do are usually positive, but I just had an extremely negative experience at the Petsmart grooming salon. I have a sweet older King Charles Spaniel with allergies who is otherwise healthy. We live in Palm Springs where it is very hot this time of year, so when we first walked into the salon she was panting from the heat. She desperately needed a shampoo and trim. The groomer, who looked to be in her early 20s, decided that she knew better than I what was best for my dog. She refused to perform a grooming, claiming that my dog was "stressed" based on her panting and a bit of snuffling due to her allergies. I explained that she had just been at the vet two days previously for a check up and vaccinations and was in good health, except for allergies and old age. She continued to insist that my dog was "stressed" and refused to groom her. She said that as an alternative I could "take her to the vet." I love my dog, but I do not have a couple of hundred dollars to have her groomed by a vet, so that really isn't an alternative for me. I spoke to the manager, who was no help. Both the groomer and the manager informed me that Petsmart now has a "very tough" policy as to what dogs they will or will not groom. So if you have an older dog, or one with allergies, or just one who is panting a bit from the heat because they really need a trim, stay away! read more

The fish selection is excellent here- about 4 times the size of that at Petco. I was incredibly impressed by the level of service provided by Nicholas in the fish department. He was helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. It might be a touch more expensive than Petco, but it's worth it when you factor in the great service. I will now be going here for all of my fish needs (and pup stuff, too). read more

There is a positive ending to my PetSmart review. I did contact Corporate and received a call from the manager of the local store the same day. He apologized for my inconvenience and asked for receipts for the expenses I incurred related to the lice infestation. I just received a check covering all expenses. While I probably won't use PetSmart for grooming in the future, they did the right thing from a customer service standpoint and restored my faith in their corporate image. read more

This place is the worst. They took the cutest dog in the world and made them ugly! All very young and inexperienced. They were just supposed to bathe them and trim up around her face a little bit. Instead they scalped them. We will never ever take our dogs to Petsmart groomer ever again! read more

SOLD ME A VERY SICK ANIMAL!! I have never owned a guinea pig before so was unsure what normal behavior was...the employee picked out the guinea pig for us and it was very calm and still. I just thought we got lucky and found a calm one. For the first 2 weeks she was just her "normal" calm self, but I now know after doing research online that guinea pigs shouldn't be that still and she was actually lethargic. 3 weeks after we got her she started to show symptoms (sneezing, running nose and eyes, etc...). OF COURSE at 3 weeks their pet "warranty" had expired! First I called the store and an employee told me to "change her bedding and give her CHILDREN'S COLD MEDICINE!" I obviously did not do that, and could not believe that was an employee's recommendation! 2 days later I took her to the vet at Petsmart and found out she had an upper respiratory infection and an pneumonia! The vet bill including antibiotics cost $250! The doctor said these illnesses are usually transmitted from other animals, BUT I do not have any other animals in my home! I complained to the manager twice because I believe she was sick when we got her, as she was lethargic then!, and it just took a couple of weeks for the symptoms to be visible to me who knew nothing about pigs. He offered me NO COMPENSATION! The "warranty" had expired so there was nothing he could do?? I just thought that after he talked with the doctor and saw the huge amount of money the vet bill was for a guinea pig that HIS store sold me only 4 weeks earlier that he could have at least offered me a store discount or something! (Also given the fact that the employee loaded my cart with over $100 worth of pet products "the guinea pig will need" the night I bought the guinea pig, which now may be useless because the doctor is unsure if she will even make it) :( I AM SURE THE ANIMAL WAS SICK WHEN I BOUGHT HER, AND WARN OTHERS ABOUT BUYING LIVE ANIMALS FROM THIS STORE :( In one month, I spent $390 on a guinea pig from this Petsmart, and the manager offered me nothing! Will never shop here again and will warn everyone I know not to buy pets from here. read more

I've taken my puppy (Maltese/Shih Tzu) twice for grooming and once for vet. He always leaves Pet Smart happy and looking fresh. I've brought him in 3 times and in 2 occasions the cashier gave him a milk bone after asking if it was ok. He loved it. So far had a good experience with them. read more

Just picked up my dog from the groomers here at petsmart and as I was turning the corner I saw that the groomer, Jackie, was being extremely rough with my dog . It was also very obvious by her facial expression that she was frustrated with him. She was pulling on his hair & as her manager (I'm pretty sure he was the manager) saw that we were watching, he went to to her and told her to calm down because we were watching. I confronted her about it & she said that everything was okay that he just wasn't letting himself be brushed which is extremely surprising since that is his favorite thing. If you don't have the patience to bath & brush an animal then you shouldn't be a dog groomer . Very disappointed. Will never bring him back again & will definitely spread the word . read more

My girlfriend and I were in there with our new baby dog and we found out that she had really bad ticks. The vet hospital helped us out with everything that we needed and great customer service! This place does not care for animals nor the safety of customers. There was a large Pit Bull with a spiked collar being pulling around the store. It was aggressive with barking, growling and lunging at people. The animals was excited and erratic. I brought this to the attention to the cashier ans she stated there was nothing she could do until something happens. With this store policy in place with disregard to safety, I would not shop here. Pet supplies are more convenient and much safer online. Staff are not adequately trained when it comes to customer safety and public relations. read more

I recently took my dog to the PetSmart on Ramon Road near the WalMart shopping center... I dropped her off at 9am on Sunday morning, and picked her up about 11am. My dog was fine when I took her there, and when I picked her up, she had a very distinctive limp in her left rear leg. I asked them if they dropped her, and they said that they had not. She either was dropped when they bathed her, or she jumped off the grooming table I got her home, and put her on the couch, and she rolled over, so I could scratch her tummy... OMG!!! They mutilated my dog! They took off 5 nipples, and left her with scabs! I immediately called them, and then took her to the vet. The only thing PetSmart did right, was to pay the $439.18 emergency vet bill. I will never take my dog back there, and strongly suggest that you do not take your dogs there either. The groomer denied any part of it, but I have the dog to prove it. This particular groomer should not be allowed to be around animals. She is as low on the food chain as a pedophile. To hurt an innocent little dog the way she butchered mine, is as bad as someone screwing with a child! Can you believe it? The worst part of it, is that the people at PetSmart knew they mutilated her, and didn't offer the information to me when I picked her up. They were hoping I would not notice, and that they'd get away with it. read more

I'm disgusted by my experience with this store. On my most recent visit I asked the sales rep if they had any joint health supplemental choose from my dog. A family member had recommended some and gave them to my dog when she visited. I asked the sales representative if they had the brand that my family member purchased and he said no but we have these. I asked about the other in the $12 range and his response was to guilt me into the more expensive product as if I didn't love my pet enough. I had a similar experience on my previous visit when buying dog shampoo. They must have 40 or 50 different brands of dog shampoo ranging in price from five dollars to $50. The sales representative then use the same tactic to guilt me into purchasing the more expensive brand. Shameful behavior! read more

I really like this store. The employees are, as Emily noted in another review, very friendly and helpful. We take our dog for grooming on a monthly basis and have never had a problem with him afterwards in any way, as we have at some other groomers. All the dogs I see there look content, and don't seem to mind being competently and confidently handled as they are brushed, clipped, trimmed, and otherwise groomed, and ours is no different. He comes out with his tail and ears high and happy, smelling wonderful and looking beautiful. We purchase treats and other things there for him, and used to purchase all our cat supplies there when we had cats -- the quality was always very good, the prices reasonable, and the store remarkably clean and fresh smelling in spite of the array of small mammals and birds for sale. The Petco across town is OK for certain items, but it does smell and feels dark and claustrophobic to me -- I like this PetSmart store so much more. read more

I was totally disgusted with the service or lack there of at petco. I decided to try petsmart when I moved to palm springs 4 years ago. At first, they were great. Then the best groomer Suzie left and the quality of service went downhill. I called on numerous occasions for pricing and appointments for my two dogs and every time I went for the appointment the price doubled. I asked very specific questions regarding prices, but they never were what I was quoted. The last time I took my animals in for nails, ears etc., I was told when making the appointment that it would take 2 hours but 3 1/2 hours later both dogs were still wet and the nails for my female were only half finished. My female dog was so stressed that I told them to give me the leashes and harnesses and I left thinking all services had been completed. 2 days later when I could not get the attention of my male dog I looked in his ears and removed a substantial amount of dirt. His ears were filthy. I then called the manager James and he apologized many times and offered to refund my money for the grooming and would make an appointment to have all services redone at no charge. He told me he wanted me to see Britney (the best groomer on staff) and forwarded my call to Kimberly to book the appointment. I told her that James wanted me to see Britney and twice she attempted to book the appointment with someone other than Britney. I told her no I wanted to see Britney as James had suggested. She then made the appointment at 12 noon on Sunday, March 31. When I arrived I was told that Britney did not work Sundays. I was refunded the amount of the original grooming services and left the store. I called James on Monday, April 1 and spoke to James who apologized 2 or 3 times, but after spending on average $50.00 a month I will NEVER EVER return to this store or company and suggest they retrain or replace some staff members. read more
