Took our Morkie dog into Pet Smart on Monday 8/10/2020 not a first time visit either to the Virginia Location my doggie Moxie got one of the worse botched cut EVER we will take our business to Spoiled Puppy Grooming from this time on. On top of that her scheduled Appointment was for Sunday 8/9/2020 at 9 but who ever took our information when we showed up didnt put it in the computer for Sunday so we had to reschedule for the Monday and looked what happened. They must have a different grooming crew they are horrible. Do Not Take Your Pet in there until they get a better crew very dissatisfied. read more

Walked in the store and found what I was looking for. Took my item to the counter. All was fine until the cashier attempted to ask me if I would sign up for their rewards program. I declined , and thought nothing of it. Then out of the blue the other staff member interrupts, from off behind me, in a rude, insulting, and accusatory tone, " you cannot get the discount on that unless you have the rewards," is what she said. Hello, lady, I am not here to have an argument with you about whether or not I want to sign up for your rewards program. I do not shop there often enough. Plus, I already declined them. Do not interrupt me with your rude, accusatory tone lady. It was obvious she was accusing me, because she had seen other people bring items to the cashier, believing they were on sale. Anyways, she was assuming I thought I was going to get the sale price on the shelf. I already knew my item was not on sale lady, but thanks anyways. I immediately rebuffed her, and told her, " actually the item I have does not have a sale price, but thanks anyway ." Which made me feel a bit like I was having to correct this person. It was really the general attitude, body language, and the general impolite nature of how she said what she said that offended me. It was not customer service, in a polite way. It was some other version of attacking a person, blindsiding, in a bitter and hostile tone. Again, inappropriate, and offensive. Not a cheap item either, at 100 dollars. So, I suggest you retrain the team there, and teach them basic manors. read more

I took my 10 month olds toy poodle to petsmart groomers. I came in on a Monday and was considered as a "walk in". When I came in to make the appointment the girl that was helping me seemed extremely busy she was short with me and came off a bit annoyed by my presence. She started helping me and in the middle of making my appointment she said she was going to have someone else help me because she had to help someone else that had been waiting. Which is no big deal. I was previously waiting already since they had one client at a time due to covid. So I would have waiting if need be. She had a girl help me that was the washer and she ended up finishing my appointment. Mind you just to make the appointment it took a good half hour just to finish the ap The next day I go at 8am to the appointment a really nice girl that was the groomer was there and she reminded me that it was not a regular grooming appointment and that they can trim his face and hair on his paws ( in between his little paws ) As well as cut his nails and I said yes that's fine. I then showed her some spots on my dogs ears that had knots and I asked her to comb them out or cut off the knots. She said yes then she tells me that it will be 15 to 20 mins. Which in my mind I was thinking Wow that is really fast but chalked it up to them seeing so many dogs a day and just being able to work fast. I left and got a call that my dog was done and ready to pick up. I walk in a see a dog being held by the nice groomer girl that was the same color as my dog but looked like a different bread. These people cut off my dogs brown ears!! He had short uneven buzz cut ears!!! He looked like he had no ears. And they didn't even trim his face so he looked like he was earless. I was in shock. I didn't really know what to say or do. She let me know what she did but the only thing I saw different were that he had no freakin ears! So she hands the invoice with the amount for the buzz cut to my puppies ears and tells me that o can pay up front. So I take it still in shock. Staring at my beloved toy poodle and just in complete shock I start telling myself maybe she had to cut his ears cuz he had knots but then I felt like why would you not just cut the knots and why the bad buzz cut. I then look at his paws and he still had fur in between his paws and did I mention he didn't get a bath. I took him back and asked her if they can trim the paws more because it didn't look like he got it done. She told me she did and that they have to trim with a certain size of clipper and then said she would try again she takes my dog then starts trying and my puppy started acting up so I just stopped her said it was fine then left. Im upset because his cut looks bad. I don't know if it was miscommunication. I just wish that if they didn't have time or didn't know what I wanted that they just wouldn't take me or make me an appointment. I don't understand why she decided to buzz the ears that short. read more

If I could give negative stars, I would. Took my dog for a wash and toenail clipping. When I picked her up, they apologized they had cut her ear!!! They still expected me to pay for their services. Whaaat? I spoke to the manager and said, not only will I not be paying for services where my dog got hurt due to their negligence but if there's a vet bill, they will be paying for it!!! Not that I've ever had a bad or unpleasant experience at the Petsmart in south Reno, but this experience was above and beyond! Christine was excellent! We wanted to surprise our 8 year old with some GloFish. So while she was at school my 4 month old and I snuck to petsmart. Christine met us in the fish department and went above and beyond answering all of my questions and making sure we had everything we needed to set up our new tank. She never made me feel rushed, answered all of my questions and made sure that I felt comfortable with everything. We picked out the perfect sized tank that is manageable for our daughter, but best part is that it came with the gravel and 2 tank decorations included for the price (as a kit of course). Christine pulled multiple fish out so I could make the best selections, made sure I understood the black light, filter system and the maintenance. Almost an hour of Christine's time and patience later and we were leaving with everything we needed and felt better than I thought with 3 glofish and all the accessories. We also come to this location for our dog food as she is on a specialty food for allergies. They're one of the only places that carry it, and we usually get a discount for being "perk card members". He is a 9mo old cockapoo and as a new owner of a puppy it is crucial for me to find a place that meets all the needs of my dog. This place has a decent selection of just about everything pet related BUT pet food trays. And of course that is what we went here for. The employee we spoke with was friendly and helpful in pointing us to what they had but it would not work for our dog. They will still be on our list for toys as they have a great selection of them. They also have a decent return policy. When we first got our pup he was really picky with food. They didn't hassle us when returning stuff he wouldn't eat. Unfortunately he no longer eats any of the food they carry because their prices on food were very reasonable. read more

Since the beginning of COVID19, I've been very aware of how I'm being treated at various businesses. Having recently acquired a new kitten, I've been doing a little extra pet shopping. All three times I've visited this location, the cashiers have been friendly. Not fakey friendly, actually nice. This isn't happening at every business and I'm sure I'm not the only person who has been treated rudely by staff that would rather be home collecting the generous albeit temporary unemployment benefits. Petsmart grooming. Won't be back. got up early for 7 am appt as I was told that was all that was available. Still ringing the bell and knocking on door outside at 7:18. No apologies specifically asked for fur between pads to be shaved. She said they called it a clean paw. I said it just needed shaving between pads bc we have wood and tile and hair causes her to slip. Confirmed that they had done that on the way out. Guess what. Hair wasn't even trimmed under paws. Anyway. List goes on. No eye contact. No kind words. I actually came from out of town bc this place used to be good. Won't make that mistake again. read more

Here's the rush and poor workmanship when I purchase a fish in this PetSmart. Understaff they said but I saw more staff than customers. I got there to get a fish. I saw the fish and wait no support, got to call someone to get people to attend me. One lady came in with a huge rush quickly told me about the fish and took off. We selected the fish. Got to wait more time, no one attended. Got to get someone in the radio again. Once again the lady of the rush came in. We asked for the fish and she was always with the rushing attitude. We got our fish. I got more questions and she was always with her rush. Barely got what I wanted I quit asking for things and left. My little dog's haircut looks like some untrained child with a electric shaver did it:( Its so choppy and uneven! Some parts are shaved down to his skin with other parts still very long. June 1st was the Maddie's Fund Free Adoption Day at the Nevada Humane Society. We originally went to see Ninja, a pit bull terrier/boxer mix. They informed us right away we couldn't adopt him because we have cats at home. Alright... fine. A cute little chihuahua caught my attention and begged me to adopt her. We had brought our husky along for the meet & greet, so I asked to see her. Apparently, she had JUST been loaded onto the truck to PetSmart, who was also participating. Alright... fine. So we drive all the way across town, go into PetSmart and some asshat who was a Court-Ordered Community Service SPCA "Volunteer" was tasked with bringing the animals in from the truck. We told them we were there for "Lucy Goosy," so he makes sure to bring her in last and put her in a crate surrounded by other dogs so she could freak out and piss herself. Alright... fine. We spend an hour filling out the paper work and then waiting. They claim they had to call the SPCA to check something, but I'm fairly certain it was the Nevada Humane Society they called. The Human Society informed them that we cannot adopt ANY of their animals because our husky has not been spayed. Well, I'm not mutilating my best friend with unnecessary surgery just to conform to their ideals of a "responsible pet owner." Maybe PetSmart shouldn't host events run by other organizations, because thanks to my experiences today, I'm never going back to any of their stores. Looks like I'll have to find a "back yard breeder" to help me complete my family. Oh, PetSmart... look what you did. read more

I've visited this place a few times in the last week since getting our new furry addition. It's been years since I've had a puppy, so I needed to make sure I got all the puppy essentials. Thankfully Morgan works there. She helped me out with all my puppy needs and recommended several things that she has even used for her own dogs. Because I am a little rusty on everything puppy, I had many questions. What brand of puppy food do you recommend? What's the difference between this brand and that brand? Wire or plastic crate? What size crate should I get for my golden retriever puppy? How old does he need to be to start obedience training? You get the idea... Luckily Morgan was incredibly patient and helpful. She definitely knew her stuff and made me feel good about all my purchases. I did have to return a couple items that didn't work out for some reason or another. The return process was easy and they were very nice about the entire thing. The store is very large and clean. You can find anything pet related in the store and there are friendly employees walking around to assist you if you have any questions. This store also offers grooming and dog training for your pets. Morgan is the pet trainer on site. You can even adopt a furry friend when the Humane Society or SPCA are there. I would recommend signing up for their Pet Perks reward program. You can use it to get discounts on many things. If you have a puppy, they have a puppy coupon book for $20. There are coupons for tons for puppy items. You even get a free bag of food and a puppy grooming. So far it's been worth it. I've already saved a good amount of money. The stoplight to get in and out of the shopping center is a little bit of a pain. It can get congested with cars and for some reason the traffic light doesn't stay green for very long. The good news is that once you get in, there is plenty of parking. read more

I honestly wish i could go elsewhere thats more convenient for where i live, but Petsmart is the only pet place that carries the special pet food my dogs eat. They always have a well stocked store with a wide variety of dog toys, food, and treats. We have used their grooming services and our dogs always come out clean, happy, and soft. I like that it is near Target, Starbucks, and what not so that way i can zip in here when i am out running other errands. read more

I walk in 10 mins early to be informed that his appt was at 7 and that I was also supposed to bring up to date rabies paperwork and they will not touch him despite the paperwork on file stating it did not expire until August, which is true but it is August 2019. PetSmart next to Total Wine in the same shopping center as Gandolfo's and my new favorite sushi place? It's like they KNOW me! I've been coming to this PetSmart location for at least five years. My furball has stomach issues and has to be on special food. I used to buy his dry food at the vet, but when the economy turned, I couldn't afford the price of the food and he couldn't be on your normal supermarket variety foods. After countless hours researching online and talking to my vet, we settled on a brand of dry food that was half the cost, but still had all the dietary needs he needs to stay out of the vet's off (a win for mom!). Add to the mix, it's available at PetSmart where I can get all of his other "stuff" in one trip and I'm definitely a fan! This store is always clean even when they have the Humane Society or the SPCA there with animals up for adoption. Products are almost always in stock and they seem to rotate their non-food items regularly so there's new toys that your best friend doesn't have yet. You can also sign up for their rewards program and get discount on items or coupons for future visits. Their employees are friendly and I can't recall a time when I visited this store and didn't have someone ask me if I needed any help. My only complaint with this store is that although I love the convenient location, I hate that traffic light (you know the one) and the traffic jam it causes trying to get out of the shopping center. read more

The management of this store needs to straight out his grooming salon and staff. Terrible customer service!! They quoted me $35 for a simple dog grooming service. However, when arriving at my schedule appointment, they advised the service was going to be $59 due to all of the extras that I did not request. Second problem was that my appointment was schedule for 11:30am. I arrived on time and was told that they would call me in 3 to 4 hours to pick up my dog. Asked if I made a appointment at a certain time, why do have to wait that long for my dog to be groomed. Because they were busy. We had already decided not to put our dog through that when we were told the appointment was for the wrong day and time again! Cheaper than Petco for a big box pet supply shop. I went here to get a large (over 90 pounds) dog groomed and it was $31. The groomers were friendly taking me in the day of first thing in the morning so that I could drop off the dog before work and pick it up after work (not a ideal daycare place but for 1 day, it's good value if you are going to be out of the house most of the day anyway). I just got the cheapest shampoo and bath and it was fine. I also bought another dog (45 pounds) a jack-o-lantern costume for $5 BEFORE Halloween. They had crazy Halloween sales on costumes probably due to most dogs not wanting to wear clothing!! Plenty of parking and again cheaper than Petco. Petco wanted to charge me more money for grooming. I've pretty much discovered though groomers at these places have no idea really how much to charge as each person pretty much makes up a price it seems... Does anyone else have a dog that pees in pet shops? Mine has peed in every shop. I'm embarrassed. read more

I have a very fluffy dog and as soon as the TEMP started getting above 80° I made an appointment for her. They cancelled the day of her appointment. I made another appointment....they just called and cancelled again!!! So for a week now my dog has been miserable. We've tried a few other places locally for pet food, general pet supplies and dog grooming, and so far this is the best hands-down. The grooming staff does a great job on our German Shepherd. Very happy with this; it takes time to get his coat entirely dry after a shampoo and it's been perfect every time. They also have a good selection of Royal Canin dry food for GSDs, which seems to do the trick as our dog seems to have a lot of food sensitivity issues which I'm finding out is not that unusual for this breed. Finally, one of the clerks recommended a cat food brand which our cat is doing quite well with... we were concerned because of his age, weight and UTI issues (the cat's), and the girl I spoke with was very knowledgeable. Kitty's been doing great with the "Blue Freedom" brand so far, great for him as they have "indoor" and "mature" varieties (we give him both wet and dry food, btw and has been doing well). They have a nice selection at PetSmart; a friendly and clean place; the kind of atmosphere you'd expect in a small pet store, not a bigger name like this. read more

It got to the point where my pup always had fur in his eyes and since it's going to be getting colder I didn't want to bring him to the groomer to get shaved just yet. I called the groomer at Petsmart yesterday, Tuesday afternoon and asked if they had availability for a quick face shave for my little guy. They told me to come in around 5:15pm and they'll be able to do it. I walked into the groomers and they were able to take him right away as they said. The groomer I believe her name was Rosie (?) asked some questions on what I expect him to look like and was super friendly and thoughtful as she escorted little guy to a table. My dog is a little wiggle worm so I thought it would take a while so I walked around looking for a "don't hate me" toy for him. Before I knew it I heard them call for me over the loud speaker and there he was as handsome as ever and more than ready to get out of there. The staff are always so friendly and caring I really do trust and appreciate all they do for their dog clients. I've also brought my dog here to be groomed for the past year and they do a fantastic job. They say it may take 4 hours, but they usually call before that for little guy to be picked up. Make things short. I had waited over 45 mins in the fish, one other customer was there. I had walked in a few minutes before. The employee knew I was waiting only to help the other person. Who was still looking around. I understand wait and be patient. I was also given horrible customer service from that employee. In end I had left without making a purchase. Reno store hours say open until 9:00pm for grooming. I called at 7:55 to be sure they were open before taking my dog in for a nail trim. The grooming representative who answered the phone said, "We are closing early tonight, we already cleaned up." I said, "You are closing an hour early?" She sounded annoyed, "Yep, we are closing." End of conversation, she didn't even offer to set up a future date. I had told her it was just a nail trim, she seemed completely uninterested as I'm sure I was cutting into her Friday night plans. I seriously doubt PetSmart being a big corporation closes an hour early. read more

I use them for pet grooming. They are capable of doing a good job and usually do. They have high employee turnover so make sure they understand the details of your pet needs and prices they charge. Be careful because they generally do not volunteer details on grooming pricing. What they should do is tell you costs for whatever you need up front. I prefer not to be surprised. read more

I spend A LOT of money at this store. The manager with the long dark curly hair, about 45 and worked on Thursday 8/18/22 is the most unprofessional manager I have ever encountered. She can't even tell her employees that they have a restroom and what the code is. After I was told by the kid with the cupcake smear all over his face, bathrooms were not open to the public and went in the employee breakroom and started laughing. I asked the nice cashier and she told me yes the restrooms were open and told me the code. I complained to the manager and she just kind of laughed and said" I don't know I was on vacation". Poor excuse for a manager. I know why my other friends say she is horrible and not good enough to be in that position. Petco can have my $800 a month in dog food for 5 Great Danes, 3 cats, and all the treats and toys I purchase there. I know why my friends shop at Petco now.I had at least $300 in my cart at the time and still had three bags of $90 dog food to get. I just walked out and spent it at Petco . So far I have used them 3 times, and every time I'm am extremely pleased with the overall experience, from pricing to customer service, they always have a great attitude, and they do a great job on grooming.
