Over the past 14 months I've been bouncing between 3 different PetSmart Grooming locations and this one hands down has been the best. When compared to the PetSmart and both the District and Marketplace in Tustin the staff here is more knowledgeable and just overall customer service is far superior. I took my dog in for their Pawdicure Plus package, yes I know that sounds ridiculous and I quivered right before I asked for it, and the staff finished up Zooey in about 10 minutes. The package includes: Nail trim and grind, ear cleaning, teeth cleaning and a bandana or bow for your pup! hahaha all for $25 ... or maybe it was $29 ... Zooey left without the bow but I'm not going to lie, I kinda wanted to take a horrible picture of her with it on. I'm assuming they just forgot. I believe this was a new package or they re-branded things because I found this package online but none of their paperwork in store had the wording or labeling on it matching those packages. Aside from the grooming area the staff in the shopping area is also on par. Always friendly but not overwhelmingly hovering around me like I'm going to steal something!! read more

I forgot her name, but theres this really nice cashier that is always sharing her stories about her dogs! Shes so sweet! I love her! She looks older than the other folks working there. Has short white hair and wears glasses. Anyways have i mentioned shes sweet? 12/27/14: went to buy Molly's (my pet rabbit) food. At the register the associate (i think shes new cause ive never seen her) starts ringing me up and asks me about Molly. She then starts talking about her rabbit's new borns and tells me "let me show you a picture." So she busts ouy her phone. The rabbits were really cute and this is really sweet of her, but hunny dont do that while youre working and have a line of customers waiting to pay. She was taking her time going through her pictures. I was ready to leave but I also didnt want to be rude and just leave. I was also getting inpatient however i still waited a short while as she looked through her phone for her pictures. Finally she found it and I left. Honestly she was annoying. I feel shes one of those people that you cant shut up. And damn ive been working in retail for years and I didnt know associates could use their phones on the floor. read more

We've been bringing our two dogs to this Petsmart for grooming and supplies for years and have never had any complaints. Bigger selection than our local Petco by far. But I'm giving 5 stars in this review for the high quality level of customer service I've received over the past few months since I purchased my first betta fish. I visit the store at least once a month for various supplies, tank decorations, etc. and each time I always have a bunch of questions about the different products. The staff is always knowledgeable and friendly. Look for Montgomery - this guy knows his stuff and is always the one to help me out in the aquarium section. read more

I had purchase a blade recently at a different petsmart but i needed to return it because it wont clip on my clippers and the only reason i came to this one is because ita 5 min from where i live so to the point that the manager was beyond rude and not even taking a second look at the product said by manager "i have used" it had a little hair on it because i put on my clipper but it wouldn't clip on and told him how can i use something if it wont even clip on my clipper and stay in place and i have to return at the store that i had purchased it from. I have been bringing our Yorkie to this 17th St. store in Santa Ana for grooming for several years. We had an appointment at 8:30 this morning and when I got there I was able to watch the lone groomer in the back of the room thru the plexiglass portion of the door. Extremely disappointed, and at the same time astonished, about the way this groomer was manhandling this small breed like a rag doll while he was blow drying. Once done with this task, he then plucked the dog up, again treating it roughly, and headed out the door to meet my gaze. It was apparent that this groomer was frustrated to be the only one on shift and was quite possibly venting his frustration on this dog. The reason doesn't matter much as I was already quite ticked-off by this point. I guess it's a bit naive to believe their mission statement that "The caring professionals at PetSmart Grooming Salons are available seven days a week and provide an array of services to ensure your pet is happy, healthy and looks great". In hindsight, I'm glad I was able to witness this so that I now know how, at least this particular groomer, handles YOUR pet when they think no one's watching. We have been satisfied with the service from past visits but after seeing how he handled this dog, we left and will never go back. read more

Petsmart will easily accept your vets proof of rabies up to date , or call their olive for u They do not insist upon vaccination more than once a year For those dog owners who choose not to rabies vac their dogs. However this morning when I came in to exchange a dog sweater for another size she argued with me that I needed the exchange receipt since I had already exchanged for another size last night. I only had the original receipt and I said I only wanted a different size. I read off the exchange policy to her and she said well that's not what it says...super snotty girl. I rescued a dog today. He was so frighten. I went to Petsmart to see he has chip but he got so scared and would not move at Petsmart parking. A dog trainer at PersMart, Alex, came out and helped a dog to ease and calm. Alex was so patient and gained his trust. He finally wagged tail and moved and also finally got back in my car. Alex helped me to pick up right caller and educate me how to deal with him. He was my life saver! What a great people. I would definitely recommend this place for dog training! read more

It is very close to my house. I wish there was a locally owned pet store. The store smells. Their cat section is dwarfed by the offerings for dogs. While there are tons of cat food, most of it lists corn as their first ingredient. Corn is the #1 allergy for cats. I applaud the cat adoption but always walk out a little skeeved. read more

In regards to the grooming department the staff here is terrible. They seem to lack any passion for pets or what they do which is odd to find at a Company that is based on caring for pets... They do not make any effort to make you or your pet feel comfortable at ease. I dropped my scared pup off and the groomer didn't even look at him or pet him or say hi ... She did not interact with him at all. She simply Yanked on his leash and practically dragged him to the back. This is unacceptable behavior for someone who works with pets. The only reason I gave them 2 stars is Bc the hair cut was decent. However u can get the same haircut and better service for the same price at a small grooming boutique. GROOMING: I've brought my baby here multiple times, not because I wanted to or because he likes it but because of necessity. They can usually groom your dog same day and they are relatively inexpensive, except for on the weekend, they bump up the price and not even tell you the price difference even if you ask the price when you book for a weekend appointment. Everyone I bring my dog, he shakes and cries. I bring him to the same girl everytime hoping that if he gets the same person he'll get more comfortable but he doesn't if you're like me, your dog is your world. One time dropping my dog off, of course I wanted to turn around and leave afterward, I saw one of the groomers yelling at a scared anxious dog. I worried this happened to my little boy, I just couldn't bring him back here. I started cutting his hair myself but now that I'm working full time I decided to look for somewhere new. I found "The Spaw" in Tustin. It's expensive, yes, but actually much much better. Cheaper than paying for a bath and haircut with express at Petsmart so keep that in mind, plus they have cage free play time before and after the groom. Get your dog groomed at "The Spaw" and skip Petsmart. They don't love animals the way they should, no compassion or patience. My dog actually ran up to the door for "The Spaw" wagging his tail, after the numerous traumatizing haircuts at Petsmart. Please go there and skip Petsmart. read more

Okay, so this is the closest petsmart to me and normally I have an okay experience. But today my aumy and I went to adopt a cat for the family. The ladies helping us weren't nice at all. Very unhelpful and snobby as if they were judging us and didn't find it fitting for us to adopt. I understood their reasons but they were rude about it. This is my go to Petsmart, there's another one of equal distance from my house but I always prefer to go here. I come in just about every week or every other for crickets and also food, treats, and toys for my 2 dogs and cat. Montgomery (the manager) is usually the one to help me and/or my boyfriend. I came in once and had some questions about keep my chameleons plant vegetation clean and getting rid of the smell from their waste, most cleaners weren't meant to be used with animals that hid among the plants. Montgomery suggested a little bit of baby bleach in the tub or sink with some warm/hot water. I tried it out soaked for 30-45min and gave the flake plants a few good rinses, air dried and back into the chameleon cage with absolutely no smell and the chameleons are doing just fine. Today I came in to pick up some Blue Buffalo Bison for my girls, who have good allergies. Found Montgomery and asked if they had the larger bag in stock and unfortunately they were out but had the smaller 10 lbs bags available. Montgomery offered to price match it for me, 2 10 lbs bags at the cost of the 22 lbs bag plus an additional discount for the weight difference and i still got to use my $3 coupon from a survey on top of it. Montgomery is an awesome manager who always wants to find a helpful solution that you're happy with. He always sees what he can do for you and your pet, rather then tell you you're tough outta luck. I got some great help here when I brought in my rescued German Shepherd. Everyone was friendly and helpful and Mecca just loved all the attention she got. I received very helpful advice on feeding her since she's underweight. I've been here many times for multiple reasons and have never had an issue, but they really stood out to me this time. We all know most chain pet stores are not the best places when it comes to taking care of small animals. I've seen a lot of bad PetSmarts and PetCos with stinky cages and unhealthy birds. However, this particular PetSmart is a refreshing exception! I purchased two of my four pet rats here, and they were friendly, playful, and comfortable with being handled from the start. When an employee told me that they make an effort to handle all of their small pets, I figured he was just trying to make a sale - but it really shows! Even their birds are fine with being handled. My visit yesterday introduced me to a BEAUTIFUL sun conure they had in a large display cage. Plenty of toys, clean cage, and such a sweetie! Was totally friendly and cuddly even through the bars. The fact that they even make an effort to hand train small parrots who need tons of attention is awesome! The bird was VERY healthy, too - clean, smooth feathers, very colorful, shiny black beak with no flakes. I almost shelled out the $600 for him. If I didn't have rent to pay, I totally would have. The employees are always friendly and helpful. When we were looking for our second rat, they asked lots of questions and even went to the back to find the perfect baby for us. Came out of the back holding the cuddliest little siamese dumbo rat you've ever seen. Been a happy member of the family ever since. The fact that they also have more space in the back for rats is great, unlike Petco, who piles 10 - 15 rats into one tank. Will be back when I finally have that $600 for a conure. ;) read more

So, we went there today and the employees is really friendly. we want to buy a small fish for our 5 Gallon aquarium, so we ask for one of them to help us to find some good fishes and plants. He give us a good input how to take care the fishes and the plants. Beside that he also gave us a solution. After we got our fishes and plants. He told us that PETSMART have a policy if the fishes we bought is died in 2weeks, just bring back the dead fish and they will exchange or they will give u a credit so you can use your credit to get another fish! This location is dimmly lit and seems dirty but the customer service staff is friendly enough. On the other hand the grooming staff is awful. They are unfriendly and seem to hate pets which is extremely odd for someone who works with other people's pets. They do not make any effort to make you or your scared pup feel comfortable. They lack any ounce of passion for what they do which is a disgrace for Petsmart that claims to care about pets and pet parents. The only reason I gave two stars is Bc the hair cut itself was decent but the experience was terrible for my pet and myself. You can go to a smaller grooming boutique where the groomers love what they do and are happy to interact with your pet for the same price . My favorite location. Associates are always (for the most part) friendly and extremely helpful. If they don't know something they will find out the answer for you. If they don't have something in stock, they will order it for you online and ship it to your house (for free if you order in store) Their fish department was downsized in October so they have much less fish (about 1/3 of before). I called this location and asked them what my options were and they basically told me that my only option was to return him and get another! I have been bringing my dog here for at least10 years. My dog is 14. He comes every 6 weeks for a full groom that runs $53-$62 a visit plus a tip. Our favorite groomer left so I asked for someone experienced with older dogs. Kiki has cataracts and does not see well. I give three stars mostly based on previous excellent service. The last time we were in, on June 26th, was a complete disaster! The groomer assigned was inexperienced and unprofessional. She (Elizabeth) handed my dog over to me with tufts of hair sticking out - uneven and not even brushed!! She had not finished his back legs or tail. She said he had tried to bite her. He looked ridiculous-- I told them that it was unacceptable and another groomer offered to try to fix the mess on his head. She improved it, but she could not put hair back over his ears where the hair had been cut to the skin! I took the poor little guy and went home. I spoke to the store manager and he gave me my money back, and then BANNED MY DOG FROM THE SALON!!!! Mind you he had been there 6 weeks prior with no issues-- the only thing that changed was the groomer--and we get banned because of"safety issues"? Ridiculous!! I don't appreciate being banned but it doesn't matter anyway-- I would never entrust my sweet doggie to this salon ever again!! read more

I come here mostly for my dog's food and for bones and toys for my bulldog and chihuahua. I bought my snake here a few weeks ago and has already grown 6 inches since she has been in her bigger cage now! She is still healthy and is such a sweetheart I am so happy that I just happened to find her while looking for bones. Based on customer service alone, I absolutely detest this store. They are often out of stock on things I need, the clerks here can be rude, and they lack floor coverage. If you have a question, plan on going to a register to get an answer. I'm giving them two stars based on the fact that the store is larger than average, so I'll cut them some slack. However, when you bring a problem to a manager's attention, he or she can be rude as well. Manager Maria should be working at a Dollar Tree.
