I am very disappointed with my experience at this PetSmart location. While shopping, I found Pro Plan wet cat food in the clearance section with a tag showing it had been reduced from $73.00 to $0.01. When I brought it to the register, the manager took the item and refused to sell it to me. What was most frustrating was not the refusal itself, but the lack of any explanation. I politely asked why it could not be sold at the marked price, but I was not given a clear reason. As a customer, I believe transparency and communication are important. If the item was mislabeled or there was a store policy preventing the sale, I would have appreciated an honest explanation. Instead, the item was simply taken away without any explanation, leaving me feeling confused and disappointed. Whether the price was a mistake or not, customers deserve to be treated with respect and given a clear reason when a marked item cannot be sold as displayed. This experience has left me with a negative impression of PetSmart and has made me question whether I want to continue shopping there. I hope the store will encourage its managers and employees to communicate more openly with customers and handle situations like this in a more professional and respectful manner. read more

I have used a number of Petsmart's all over town. Although this is not out primary location , (no Doggie Daycare) I've never once had a poor experience with the friendly and knowledgeable staff. Petsmart also has an excellent return policy with some locations offering various services such as Pets Hotel and veterinary services, etc.. We originally started there with Banfield Veterinary , which no longer provides that service here. It's a super convenient location, with various other large stores in the same shopping center. read more

I had a great experience here! Their return policy is excellent, as is no minimum free pet smart delivery. I bought a small pink crate for an incoming foster, but turns out her legs are surprisingly long relative to her tiny weight of 8 lbs, so I needed a medium. I came back & purchased a medium crate but the only available colour was black. When I got home, I found it curious that the crate didn't occupy the entire box. When I set it up & stood it up next to the pink crate I still had, they were identical! I don't know how that happened. I really needed a medium crate to transition the pup, and I learned that the online store has free same-day delivery with no minimum purchase amount. I purchased the black crate by the same brand in medium, and it came right in the middle of the window (7-9pm). I could've upgraded to earlier windows for a charge, but that wasn't necessary for me. This crate was the exact medium crate I was looking for. I came back today and Alicia helped me; I had a receipt for the black medium crate but not the pink one. This was no issue! I explained how the medium crate box has a small sized crate inside & she discussed protocol with another employee (or manager?). Alicia was able to look up my past purchases using my phone number (so definitely sign up with your phone number bc it can come in handy for times like this), & she asked what colour the crate was to confirm. I was then refunded for both crates. Pup is happy in her new one- some pet owners are uneasy about crate training but it's very useful, especially if introducing a pet to a home that has other animals or if you're going to have company like the inevitable plumber or electrician. Super cute clothing for dogs too, and the variety of dog collars/harnesses/leashes is INSANE. I don't like that they sell choke collars, but my experience was excellent so 5 stars it is. Me and my girlfriend came in to purchase a snail and waited 10 minutes for someone to help; her reply was no it's too late you have to come in at least before 8:55 while walking away from my girlfriend requesting help. i have been bringing my pets to petsmart for over 6 years now and not only do i enjoy going put my pets love it as they know they get attention from the cashier and a treat when we leave. i find them extrmely helpful and always find what i need. i go there from grooming to one of their stores that has a bainfield pet hospital and always leave satisified and happy. read more

We were genuinely curious and excited, but unfortunately, we were met with nothing but attitude and rudeness from an employee named Don. Instead of answering our questions or offering guidance, Don was incredibly dismissive and made us feel like we were a burden for simply asking for information. At that time, I was informed they were going to cancel his appointment because dogs with heart murmurs can only have an express appointment and they didn't have any available. Anytime I buy $300 plus of prescription cat food, I never get appropriate coupons or they give me a coupon that expires WAY before I need the food again (like within the same months). This time I got an email specifically for me and Royal Canine coupon. I went there and they told me the coupon is only good for nonprescription. I generally shop at Petco, but decided to try Petsmart to see if they had more diverse options with treats, toys and other goodies. The first time I went, (sometime in December) my experience was ok. Nobody greeted me or offered to help, but my transaction was pretty vanilla. I returned to the store this week for a return, and the woman who was at the register (Alicia) was extremely rude. I didn't have a receipt, and she wanted to make the return for credit more complicated than it needed to be, huffing and puffing at every click of the mouse. "Oh no receipt?" "That is going to need to go through the manager" The lady who was helping her finally told her she could issue a gift card but the Alicia was nasty in her tone and body language. Censorship is alive and well. Since they removed my previous review. here. Poor customer service and it is so due to poor management. Unless you "look" like them, they will not treat you with respect. It is subtle if you look at the world through rose colored glass. I had an order pickup. Firstly I was not greeted walking in, but other individuals were. They tried to give me the wrong item that was significantly lower in quantity and value and even took their sweet time to and fro. Literally I could have gotten the order in a couple minutes. They took near 20-30minutes!! After which it was the WRONG item. So I had to wait additional time. Then when I thanked the other employee she didnt even respond but had a sour look on her face as if it was my fault the other employee got it wrong. Would spend more elsewhere than go here( not that this place is an extreme bargain). I would say go to another petstore where they treat their customers like human beings. If someone has a proper regard for all humans equally, there will they be humane to animals. read more

Yesterday I took my 9month old pug Arya to have her nails trimmed. A first, We both thought it would be a really tough task. I have personally tried over it over again with one of those grinders that you buy on Amazon to grind down pets nails... And she fights me every single time, it is virtually impossible... They explain that sometimes younger pugs don't like it in it's pretty tough to grind down their nails... But they gave it a try and they succeeded... They were both excellent in both customer service and taking care of our little girl. Thank you both for helping us we are both so grateful!!! I totally recommend Petsmart of Seal Beach!!! I don't recommend the puppy training. It s a waste of money. The instructor, Shannon was not good. When I went to my other classes, the instructor taught me the correct way to walk the dog, how to hold the leash, I learned to step on the leash so the dog cannot move much. But this instructor very rude to me, and said my puppy did not make any progress, kept telling me to pay extra for private lesson, then she would work on my puppy's jumping problem. Then she said the first class she already talked about it. I remember she kept telling my puppy, "don't jump", but did nothing. Then we walked around the store and practice, "sit", I was kind of pushing my puppy's head then she made me like a dog abuser, and accused that I hit my puppy's head, she would remove me if I do this again. How many puppy training class at 7:30 pm? The puppy was already very tired at that time. It was her bedtime. How can she make progress? Her training is putting too much reward by giving excessive treats, which was unlike the classes I took before. I feel the whole time she was yelling at me. read more

BE CAREFUL! Petsmart sells EXPIRED dog food! We got a puppy for Christmas and went to Seal Beach Petsmart to get the same puppy food he was eating called Purina Puppy. We gave the puppy to my mother in law for Christmas and handed her the food. She was using it for the past week and said he's been acting very tired and lethargic. She checked the bag and the food is EXPIRED!!! It's been expired for ONE YEAR on January 2021! No wonder the poor puppy isn't thriving and is sick. We call the petsmart number on the website and they said they can't refund us our $7.93 because the store and the number isn't the same! They said they have to contact the store and investigate for 48 hours! Then I talked to two higher agents who also said they can't help me. Finally a manager at this store called me back I told him how the dog is ill and it's very scary. I also said the reason we are getting a new dog is because their previous dog got a haircut at petsmart 2 months ago and on the ride home the dog died!! So what is going on at petsmart? I asked if there is quality control and checking all the food for expiration dates because it's been one year on the shelf expired! He said we checked that one section and it's fine. One section?! What about the whole store. Then he said he didn't want to refund me because I was talking about my mother in laws dog dying and our puppy being ill. I said give me the refund or I'm filing a dispute on the credit card. He said I had to go back to the store to get a refund. I said I'm not driving to your store for 7.93. Then he said he can do it on the computer with my cc info..: why didn't he say that first? I also said I'd like a gift card to compensate my time and the puppy being ill, needing to get new food etc, he said he can't do that I said the vet bill is much more than a small gift card for our inconvenience. Horrible experience when I worked here for a month or two. I wanted to learn about pet grooming to potentially start a career in it with PetSmart. I applied for a position as a bather/grooming trainee and was accepted, but the manager that was supposed to interview me failed to be there on the day we agreed to interview. The other managers told me to come back the next day. When I did, no one acknowledged that they had forgotten about me the previous day. When I mentioned to the salon manager that I found this to be somewhat unprofessional, they called me into the office and berated me for saying so. They gaslit me and blamed me for the interview mix-up, saying I arrived a day early and it was my fault. They shut me down, accused me of lying, and talked to me like I was a child. I'm 31. While training in the salon, the salon manager didn't seem to care about training me and had no patience for my lack of knowledge & experience, no patience for my anxiety & fears about harming the dogs. Overall, working here was a horrible experience and I will never return to either the salon or the store in general. It seems that the groomers do care about the animals, but the management in general is terrible & authoritative. Don't shop here. read more

This review is only for their grooming. As other reviewers have mentioned, their grooming is a joke. I would normally never bring a dog to petsmart to be groomed, but I was desperate because my Husky was blowing his undercoat so bad I couldn't get a furminator through it and petsmart was the only place with a Saturday appt available. Now I know why. We paid $25 extra for "de-shedding" grooming and it looks like they only brushed half of his body...and they had him for THREE HOURS. Prices are more expensive than boutique groomer shops. The groomers did seem very kind and I appreciate that when we got home and saw how much tufts of fur were still falling off of him, the manager over the phone did not argue or get defensive when we asked for a refund for the de-shedding part. What an amazing place with incredibly compassionate employees! I had to put my dearly beloved dog down today, and before the store even opened, a very sweet lady came out and assisted me to the back of the store to find the vet care. I wish I'd learned her name because she was one of the nicest people (all the employees I encountered too). I highly recommend this business. I don't typically write reviews, but haven't been able to stop thinking about how annoyed I've been over this situation. I bring my five year old lab here on occasion. I put down that she's had aggression with other dogs and told the lady checking me in and the groomer that she has displayed aggression with other dogs. She had an unfortunate situation with other dogs while she was leashed and they were not, but has always been sweet with people. We have two other dogs and our friends also bring their dogs over and they all play, she just needs an introductory period with new dogs. I probably should have turned around and left when they told me it would take 2-3 hours because they were so busy. I'm under the impression that when I make an appointment that's when my dog's grooming should start. I called in almost four hours later to find out they were just finishing my dog, but I could come in and get her. When I got there, the groomer told me that my dog needs a calming agent because she cried and barked the whole time and growled at other dogs, but did fine during the grooming. This could be my fault as we don't crate train her, but I imagine she was in a crate for 2.5-3 hours if it took four hours to finish her and I think that's a bit cruel. I think it's the fact she had the reaction I said she would have and then to be lectured about it is what I thought was a little unprofessional. I do realize it's a bit annoying to have a dog barking and growling for three hours and don't completely blame the groomer. I'll be looking for somewhere else to get her groomed that doesn't keep their dogs in a kennel for hours and honors their appointment time. The grooming itself was great. My dog looked clean and smelled good. The groomer did tell me she wouldn't be trimming her nails because they were a good length but I still got charged for the full service. read more

I took my Dog to Aden in Grooming and she cut open a small hotspot he had. It cost me 500 dollars at the vet due to an infection. I want to give this location another try however she cancelled and didn't tell me why. I rescheduled and they called me the day of appointment and said she did not want to groom my Goldendoodle. This PetSmart location is a mixed bag. The cashiers are friendly, and they typically have the items I am looking for in stock. My problem with this location is their fish department. On numerous occasions, I have come in to buy a fish and received a very rude response from the associate. Today was no exception. The associate started questioning me on my aquarium setup, size, filtration, water, and much more. It bordered on interrogation. Her goal seemed to be to stop me from getting any fish. While this doesn't happen every time watch out. My children experience anxiety when we go to PetSmart now having conversations like, "is that mean lady going to be there, maybe she won't let us buy dog food this time?" As a 40-year-old human with years of experience having and caring for fish I feel like I don't need the 3rd degree. If I asked for her opinion or assistance, or if I came in each week buying a boatload of fish because all of mine had died, I might understand. But I didn't ask for this investigation.
