I used to like this particular pet groomer because it was one of the better ones this side of the water. My dogs have always been groomed over in the Tukwila area but since I live on the Peninsula sometimes it's easier and cheaper to just get their grooming here. No one has been as good as my groomer in Tukwila, but Wizard of Paws had been good enough in the past. That is until last week. My little poodle got the worst grooming ever. Probably not only in his life but I'm quite sure that because it was so bad but no other dog has had such awful grooming. The reason that I'm leaving this negative Yelp review is because I reached out to the owner, via a voicemail, asking for a redo. I made it very clear on my voicemail that I wanted the owner now to groom my dog properly, not her daughter, who was the one who gave the bad grooming cut in the first place. When I went to pick my dog up, his feet were still dirty, and the facial area had not been shaved down at all. There was still hair in his eyes. I was pretty upset but I just asked her to please clean him up a bit and remove the hair out of his eyes. She clearly didn't know what she was doing so I just got frustrated enough and said thank you pay the bill and walked out the door. This really was a completely unacceptable haircut in the first place, but also I was taking my dog out of town that very day after the cut. So I was counting on him to be groomed properly. After all, he was going to be staying in a pet friendly hotel two and a half hours away from home. I called back a day or so later to ask for Kathy, the owner, who has groomed my dog in the past. I got a voicemail and I left her a message asking her if she would redo the cut. I received no phone call back. I simply will not go back to this groomer. A simple return phone call by the owner could have made all the difference in the world for me to remain a customer. read more

After my dog's original groomer asked that he be sedated during his future grooms I was in the hunt for another groomer! I randomly met another Bouvier owner and she recommended Wizard of Paws! I called to schedule an appointment. I spoke with Josh who was super friendly and answered all of my questions! Upon arrival I was greeted warmly by Kathy and Josh. My dog is just over a year and 85 pounds. He had some matting issues and obviously was not the best behaved at his other grooming appointments- but Kathy assured me he was in good hands! She explained dogs need to trust their groomer. I returned to find my puppy calm, happy, perfectly groomed and in love with his new groomers! Thanks to everyone who gave Wizard of Paws a positive review. I took my 2 yo Golden Retriever there this week. She was getting shaggy. Her tail hair was long. Her chest was shaggy. She had never had her nails trimmed. She came home smelling great. She looks so good. They made a point of making sure that they understood what I wanted. The price was very reasonable. I was looking for a place to groom my new puppy. I found this one on Yelp and decided to try it. I called and they fit me in right away. Everyone was friendly. When I returned to pick up my dog, he was happy...smelled nice...looked nice...and had a cute bow on his collar! I love this place! We have been taking our dogs here for several years now and continue to love the owner and staff. One of our dogs is very vocal and they still shower her with love although I'm sure the whole time are just waiting for us to pick her up so they don't have to hear her bark anymore. They are reasonably priced and care about the dogs - plus they come home with cute bows. read more

i left my dog thinking he would be cared for and loved. They cut him way too short plus he came home with a 1" cut on his chest.

One star for a nice hair cut BUT.......this place has filthy kennels and has dirty clutter all over the place. The groomers accused my 70 lb. Airedale of biting. After I asked "Who", and asked for specifics they backed off. He has always been the pride of other groomers I have taken him to. My educated guess is, that they tried to shove him into one of their dirty kennels and he growled at them. Also because of some sort of mistreatment there, when I got him home he would cry out in pain. It took 5 days of pain meds and rest before he recovered. I am NEVER taking my best friend here again! read more

My dog was a horribly abused pound puppy with unset broken bones, missing toes and teeth. Kathy and Josh made sure they took extra care when grooming our Maltipoo. He was shaking and terrified the first time, but now trots right in for his wash and haircut. read more

Took Annie in for the works. Got an appointment right away -- and they asked me what time I wanted to pick her up-- that was a first for me in this area! They did a GREAT job on the cut -- springer ears -- toe nails -- feathers. Haven't seen it done better! And they are close, convenient and easy parking. I have been going to Wizard of Paws for years. I had wanted to support a new business owner. I have stated each time not to trim my Havanese beards, I have 2 Havanese. Most of the time, they trim their beards and each time I remind them not to. This time, I picked up my dogs, and one whose hair is just starting to grow after skin allergies, was totally cut off. His beard is now completely missing and he certainly doesn't even smell like he had a bath. He was throwing up in the cage when I arrived and continued throwing up in the car and had diarrhea for many hours. His skin was hot to the touch for approximately 2 to 3 hours after we arrived home. I asked Kathy when I picked up my dogs why she had clipped Toby so close and cut off his beard. She yelled at me. I will never come back. If I could leave no star I would. read more

The gals at Wizard of Paws were so great. I have a really squirmy westie and they did such a great job with him. The price was great too. They listened to what I wanted for a cut, and they did such a great job. It's a nice clean transparent facility. You can see their whole operation right there when you walk in. They are a cash only business. The gals were super friendly even though I'm sure my dog was a pain. It was really easy to get an appointment on the say that worked for me. My dog got into a glue rat trap and was COVERED in glue. I called and they got her in the same day. They quoted me at $38 (which would've been fine for the glue damage) but they only asked for $28. She looks like a Morkie from the designer breed magazines! Will definitely be the only place I get her groomed from now on. Thank you!!! read more

If I could give negative stars I would...NEVER take your pets to Wizard of Paws in Poulsbo!!!! Worst experience and customer service ever! There is no reason this should have taken over 5 hours plus it isn't even the haircut I asked for. Made me pay before allowing me to see my cat and then the only look I got was of him in his cage. Didn't even take him out for me to inspect. Plus they kept him in his carrier and locked in an office almost the whole time he was there. Finally got home and looked at him and called them to tell them about it, "well you can bring him in and I can fix him". How about no! read more

I used to take my poodle to a professional poodle groomer, but she always complained about my dogs behavior, and was always clipping his skin. Found the Wizard, and now wouldn't go anywhere else. This is a hidden gem business. The ladies are always accommodating and very very reasonable as opposed to other big box groomers. My dog's always come back after their appointments perky, clean and happy. I have no complaints only praise for the Wizard of Paws team. I look forward to my dog's next appointment. Who cares about cute bows. Here is a group with no show workers. Dogs are dried by leaving in cage with house fans blowing cold air directly in cage. Takes 6 hours to groom dog, unless you specifically say you need sooner. Really, even Petco policy is 4 hours. So basically you pay to have your dog caged, no water for hours on end. Even Petco policy is to call you if they think it will be longer so you have option to take dog out. When i told wiz I was coming to pick my dog up as I was not happy being told 4 hours in that they had no show staff, my dog hadn't gotten to brush stage let alone groom. No apology from staff, just diatribe that they can take as long as they do unless i say i need dog sooner. Basically they are letting people come in and ask for quick service latter and be accomodated over those who make earlier appts. So happy for them, but where is consideration for animals already there. Woman very rude, give me my $$$ before i get your dog out. Then as parting shot yells, and your dog has fleas. Nice try wiz, dog is on continual flea meds, was just checked by me as i brushed the day before, has no biting or scratching. Nice try you incompetent place. I would never take an animal there. read more
