Staff is painfully incompetent. My dog is older, and has traction problems in his hind legs. He panicked during the storms and fireworks, getting caught in the run and ripping chunks of fur off. I was out of state, and was left a voicemail at 9:38pm stating my dog "wasn't walking and may need to be picked up.", with no mention of injury made to me. Additionally, I signed the form allowing them to give him medical attention if necessary - if he wasn't walking, the next logical step is to assess his feet and/or take an x-ray to check for musculoskeletal trauma. They didn't even mention bringing him in to be seen, which heavily contradicted the level of concern in their voicemail. I was later informed by the family member who picked him up they applied a topical steroid to this raw skin, for those who aren't aware - including the staff apparently- steroids on raw skin BURNS; hence his refusal to walk and overall anxiety. As previously stated, my dog was able to be picked up the next morning, and $700 in emergency vet fees and hours of travel later, he's now settled and recovering; but as a veterinary student I am appalled at how this staff handled this situation. I wouldn't so much as buy kibble & bits from this store, let alone trust them to provide the base level of care I paid for. We will never be back, avoid this location if you can. I am of full belief the boarding staff may have a love for animals, but there's absolutely no knowledge of animal welfare or behavior. read more

I made an appointment and I should have read the reviews. The person who would be doing the grooming said don't have high expectations. I wanted a cut and the response was if I can't he will get a bath and trim. When I got the call he said that my dog was to nosey and all he got was a bath & a trim. I wanted to speak to the groomer when I arrived to pick him up and felt like I was a bother. Was told that he needed to get use to grooming - given a form by someone else on tips to get him use to grooming. My boy is 4 months and 2nd visit ever. When I called and asked questions prior to bringing him the person over the phone said the groomer will call you along the way and let me know. I was called at the end. As much as I love the store and all the things they have for dogs. I will not be returning for grooming services only as a shopper. I'll be going back to Dale at Petco who gave my boy a bath and a deeper trim than what he was given at PetSmart. The customer service was lack luster. I feel I deserved better communication in the end not being treated with compassion. My goal is to find a groomer that I can stay with as a dog mom. Definitely not the PetSmart team. read more

I took my new pup here for his first vet appointment to see Dr. Norwood. The staff were all very professional and friendly! He had great 'pet-side' mannerism. lol. He played with my pup before starting his exam. His assistant (VJ I think) was also very knowledgeable and helpful! I definitely plan to continue my puppy's veterinary services here! I bring my Bambina here for her grooming appointments and to get her toys and treats. We have always had a positive experience at this PetSmart location and it is convenient to the Cumberland area. While picking up Bambina from grooming today, I got to meet Dr. Hodges from the show Critter Fixers. He and Dr. Ferguson have established a new veterinary practice in the Atlanta metro area. What a nice surprise and great blessing for our community. I'd recommend checking them out on Saturday June 17 for a warm welcome. This PetSmart is always clean and folks here are very professional. I take Max to this Pet Smart to be groomed, occasional and daycare. When he goes for grooming Alexis or Topaz usually takes care of him. They are both very patient with him and he looks forward to his monthly grooming visits. Max usually gets a bath & brush with furminator because he tends to shed. I always add the top dog plus to ensure he gets his teeth cleaned and nails grinded. Max is never anxious, always looks and smells good when he's returned. I also occasionally bring Max to this location for daycare so he can socialize with other dogs and he loves it. Everyone there knows Max and tells me how sweet he always is to the other pups. I have also used the boarding for 2 days when I went out of town for work. On my 1st night gone Max was whining and they gave him a bear and a blanket and he was fine for the rest of his stay. I would never purchase fish from this location. Visited store on October 2. Staff members are nowhere to be found (except the cashier). Went to the fish area wanting to purchase fish and they had tanks full of dead fish. I was shocked because there were two tanks with bubbler's and ton full of dead fish swooshing through out the tank. It was around 1:30 pm and no employees noticed this. Just ridiculous. set my 4 month old maltipoos first haircut here because he started looking homeless. i called & made his appointment for saturday, 10/5 and they put me with Jade. When we arrived to his appointment, on time, Jade complained about how behind she was, & how she got in at 7:30 that morning and is supposed to get off on time at 3:30. (Mind you, it's 1:30). My puppy also had a couple of knots from his hair pattern change, so when she noticed that, she says "well there's a detangling fee and that'll take me an extra 30 mins".... Okay AND???? I'll pay it as long as his haircut looks okay??? When i left, i did some shopping in the area but called the grooming salon to let them know that he can go to anybody else because it's not like he's a regular (his first cut) so he can go to anybody, since it'll inconvenience Jade. When i picked my puppy up, he looked like an 80 year old man.. I have NEVER been so speechless in my life. She insisted that a puppy trim only included his eyes, private parts and paws. His "forehead" area was so botched, i was scared to even bring him back. I called and complained to Nicole, & told her that i didn't want Jade to cut him again because of her attitude and clearly her work, she assured me how they wanted to fix the problem on Monday (10/7) So boom, Monday morning I call and the Grooming manager LJ is out for the week, so i speak to a store lead named Heather. Heather assured me we could settle the problem, but had to let me know if he could even get fixed today because somebody had just called out. (i get it, things happen, but at this point, thats not my concern... my concern is getting my puppy fixed or getting a refund). She calls me back and said he can come at 11:30. We arrived at 11:30. I ask to see heather as soon as we get there and she walks back with me to the grooming salon, & there Jade is. Jade noticed she had just cut my puppy, & asked what was wrong. His forehead looked like he had a mullet, he had a total of 5 LOCKS that weren't detangled, (when i paid an extra detangling fee), and there was nothing cut on his body nor his face. (Explaining all of this in front of Heather). Jade takes him back, & says she told me "the puppy cuts are difficult because you can't trim their hair too much because the curl patterns change. Cool. But why BUTCHER him???? Jade also says cutting the snout and more so on the neck (mullet part) ARENT included, but does it once Heather is there with us.. Needless to say, he looked better (barely) than what we left with the first time, but not once was i offered anything for the inconvenience of my schedule. would i be bringing my puppy back, absolutely NOT. I went into my local PetSmart because I needed some leash pulling advice. A man stocking shelves reached out to help me. "Jeff" took time to discuss choke callers versus harness options. He told me about the success he had with his dog on a harness collar. He showed me how to put it on and where to buckle the leash. He even adjusted it for me from the picture I showed him of my cardigan corgi. He was so nice! He assured me if it didn't work out I could return it. He thanked me for showing him a pic of my dogs. I was raving about him to the cashier and she mentioned he is the store manager! He even ran out after me to help me load the 30 pound bag of dog food in my truck. This is all before I told him I was going to "Yelp" him out. I highly recommend this retail location in Smyrna. PS? They matched the lower price I found online for the dog food! read more

Purchased a pet carrier on the day of my cats vet appointment but when I got home that's when I figured out this was a returned item and most of the parts were missing but the ones I got were crammed in a zip lock bag. I made it work for that vet appointment but I did take it back. After parking and getting out I was hit with this over whelming smell of urine. As I got closer to the store the smell got stronger. While in the store there were two younger guys, one with a pit bull and one with a lab. I was horrified to see the pit barking and lunging at a small child and her mother who were 3 rows away not even bothering the dog. After the mom frantically escorted the child down a random aisle the employees finally took notice and casually walked toward the man with the vicious dog. I brought my dog here twice- happy And healthy on drop off. The first time he Left with a red watery eye that required medication. I assumed it was a fluke- took him back a month later. He didn't want to go in, but he can be clingy. He left again with a bloodshot, extremely Irritated eye. He's never had this issue apart from this petsmart. The girl tried to suggest he was we like this on drop off. Would not recommend to anyone that loves their pups. I must admit. I was very skeptical after hearing many horror stories about the prices and hack jobs. But the groomer I usually go to is too far away now so I gave this place a try. On the phone when I called the employee wasn't the friendliest. I thought maybe she is having a bad day. When I brought her into the store, more of the same enthusiasm. Very lackluster. Shockingly so in a pet store in my mind. The groomer arrived and he made everything better! He was kind, patient, answered all of my endless questions, and assured me he would take good care of my baby girl. I dropped her off at 10:30 or so and she was ready at 3:20pm. I know that sounds like a long time but it was a busy Saturday and he did let me know to expect 3-4 hour wait time. You can't really see inside the grooming area unless you walk into the actual salon. Which was a disappointment since I would have liked to see the process. When I picked her up I was very pleased! I ended up purchasing the bath and haircut package which was $43, deep conditioner $7, and a stencil $4. Not a bad price! He cut her hair exactly the way I wanted and really went the extra mile. Petsmart hooked my Coco Up!!!!! I came in for the Pawpedicure and was pleased.how quickly it took. There was another dog ahead of me but by the time I made a return and had a dog tag engraved, it was Coco's turn. The groomer handled her with care and was gentle when Coco became fidgety. After selecting a bandana, Coco was about to go when the groomer suggested hair bows and nail painting. My big girl looks so pretty! Ejay the groomer was a complete unprofessional. I asked twice before leaving if he could/ felt comfortable grooming my dog. My dog is 12 and doesn't like getting his hair cut but with patience, he relaxes. When I came to pick him up, I was told to take my 10lb YORKIE some place else for grooming. I spoke with the manger and was told he would no longer be working there as there have been many complaints on this particular groomer. This groomer then proceeded to block me from making future appointments online. My dog has only ever gone to Petsmart for grooming. I was extremely disappointed. read more

I have boarded my puppy here 2x and each time she has come home with uncontrollable diarrhea. On top of that this last time, when I picked her up after the 4 day stay she reeked of pee. Then I checked my bag and there were several leftover bags of food. Not sure what's going on at this PetsHotel but I don't trust it. The hotel has taken good care of my dogs a few times, and they can give individual play time and snacks. The staff seems to really care about the animals. My issue this time is that I found out upon picking up my dog that the charge for a nightly suite stay has more than DOUBLED (now $65). I make reservations via telephone because using their website has resulted in a lost or ignored reservation request. The person I spoke with this time made no mention of the skyrocketing price, even though I have a file (having used them many times) and was requesting the same service as before. I think this is a bad business practice and a good way to make sure I won't use them again. read more

Worst grooming salon ever. Less than a week again I paid to have my dog's anal glands expressed. After she was still licking, etc so we made a vet appointment to make sure there wasn't a more serious issue. Turns out her glands were completely full. So I paid for nothing to be done at the grooming salon. I called to let the manager know and that was a complete waste of time. No apology, no acknowledgement whatsoever of the fact that his employee didn't do what they were paid to do. I was also told that to get my money back I would have to come into the store which is not at all convenient. Definitely don't waste your time or money taking your pets here. read more

A few weeks ago - I would have given these folks a poor rating based on the grooming salon. I actually quit going because the prices were so inconsistent - and the grooming services were just not good - based on at least five visits (I'm a sucker for punishment I guess.) I was schlepping Gizmo all the way out to the PetSmart Barrett Parkway location location - or taking him to Dee's Grooming about 1 mile away (down Spring Road). But recently I had to take him to doggy day care a few times - so I bit the bullet and booked a 'touch-up' at the groomers. Andrea did a phenomenal job! I've taken him there three times and each time Andrea has shaved his paws and sani area perfectly. Some groomers don't seem to understand how important this is. If long haired dogs don't have these areas properly maintained - with regards to genitals and other areas - it's very unsanitary for both the dog and your home - fecal matter can accumulate and get on your carpets, etc. If the paw pads are not shaved properly - the dog can get mats in between his pads - not to mention Gizmo's pads shaggy pads make him slip and slide all over the floor - banging into walls. Believe i had a seizure Friday 08/17/18 i was there with my dog and woke up in the back of an ambulance. When they walked me back in every staff member that worked that day greeted me at the door asking was i okay. They even had my dog in daycare for free and gave me another free day whenever i needed it. I wasn't expecting to pass out but the petsmart family here is really caring and i haven't stopped thinking about how they treated me. Even signed me a card. We started taking our 8 month old puppy to doggie day camp to wear him OUT! He comes home happy and tired! Everyone is very nice and always happy to see him. I'm kind of skeptical a little I wish there play areas were all for open viewing. It says he gets 8 hours of play but because he's bigger I don't see him because he's in another room besides their front viewing room. I just wish it was more open. Some people will give me a report and others tell me nothing when I pick him up. I wish it was more consistent with information and procedures. I found out Monday 5/14 that they're not able to let my dog out all day and have been keeping him in a cage for half a day but charging me for a full day. When I called the manager I was told that until further notice that PetSmart at this location doesn't have the staff to run the day camp full time. All they had to do is tell me upfront and I wouldn't have taken him in. Or they could have called me instead of putting him into a cage. read more

They talked to me terribly, I have a senior dog and a puppy that I have a hard time getting out the door and one of them pooped in my car. So I was 30 minutes late for grooming. Only to walk in and have them rudely inform me that they can't take them because it's been 15 minutes. With no other dogs to be seen in the salon at 8:30 am. I asked if they had that on their website or anywhere on the booking? No they did not. Did I get any kind of phone call? I seriously felt guilty for sending my dog here. He has been boarded at other places before and has never had bad experiences but I left him at this pethotel for four days and he came back dehydrated, with lots of Diarrhea for hours, and when we got in the car he was so drowsy he was limp. He pooped and peed for like two minutes straight as soon as we left the building in the parking lot. I don't think they ever actually took him out. He had diarrhea for 2 hours when we got home. He also went straight to drink from some dirty water outside like he has not been drinking water there. His tongue was even white and cracked It's two days later now and he is having uti symptoms and I will have to take him to the vet. I called the place and was put on hold to no avail twice. Trust the plethora of other bad reviews my dog will not be back. read more

That would be okay but as I was leaving I heard them making fun of the fact I was still choosing to have a mask on. I was a little disappointed and disturbed by the care of the cats. One kitten had an eye infection and constant diarrhea. One kittens ears looked completely filled with dirt or filled with something. Another had a skin condition, but, the poor thing had either dirt or flee droppings all over its legs. The same kitten was given a small can of food, but could not eat it bc it's face would not fit inside. It was a very sad situation. I tried to find a worker to talk to because we honestly were hoping to adopt, but were dismissed. I will continue to contact management in corporate. Very sad read more

Having moved to Smyrna a few month ago we had neglected getting our Mini Bernedoodle groomed and he was a mess. I couldn't wait for 6 to 8 weeks for the recommended groomers to free up an appointment so we opted for PetSmart close to our house. Not having a personal recommendation we were somewhat apprehensive about using them as Milo (our little guy) was traumatized by the last groomer we used and we didn't know what to expect. Well shortly after meeting our groomer, Andrea K., that apprehension melted away. She was very concerned about not stressing him out and said it may take longer than usual because she wanted to go slow and keep his stress level to a minimum. She spent over 3 hours with Milo's bath and grooming and he has never looked better. When I picked him up he was happy and playful and looked fantastic. Andrea worked with us to create a plan for getting him acclimated to grooming and we'l be taking Milo back to his new friend at PetSmart every 6 weeks, like clockwork. I know there are good and not so good groomers at every shop, but Andrea is truly a hidden gem at PetSmart and her skill as a groomer and "dog whisperer" are second to none. Already have our next appointment and Milo is looking forward to his next visit! If you're looking for a great groomer, look no further than PetSmart and be sure to ask for Andrea. read more

Booked stay for my dog for few nights. Checked in with full container of kibbles. Pick up a day early, kibbles still full of container. Guess they feed him their food even though I I formed he has his. As soon as brought home, he went straight to the back yard to pee and pooped. One hour later pooped again.. and again. I noticed he had some type or rash on his scrotom as well. My dog is healthy when dropped off. Couple days later I noticed the rash gotten worst! I am not even sure they took good care of my family member. Or the private room he stayed in was clean. Taking him to his vet. Seems to me by our experience he was not cared for well. This place has what you need point blank. We use it mostly for banfield and the pet hotel when we travel. Banfield keeps us doing the right thing by scheduling shots for our dog and even the teeth brushing appointment. The pet hotel somehow wears our dog out for two weeks after we pick her up even if she has only been there a few days. I recommend all the play times. And get your dog an exit bath before they leave. read more

The blue buffalo rep Kassie is usually there on Saturdays and she's great at answering our questions about the different lines. We also go here for training classes and love our trainer Morgan! Wow, if I could give negative stars I would! I have been going to this PetSmart for 14 years and bringing my little Cockapoo for 7 years, his entire life. He does not like to be groomed but has always done pretty well. I have made an effort to bring him on early weekdays whenever possible because it seems less hectic and that more experienced groomers are working. Up until his last visit he has always received a good report card and we have been told that he was a good boy. At his last grooming appointment they were unable to complete his face. They apologized but said they were concerned for his safety and did not want to put him under too much stress. They gave us a 20% discount for the service. I appreciated that and didn't think too much about it. My feeling was the young woman grooming him was not terribly experienced and that it would be OK next time. I had set an appointment for my dog to be groomed today and received a phone call from someone at the PetSmart about 3 hours before the time my dog was due to be dropped-off. He told me that they never should have made an appointment for my dog and that he could never be brought to PetSmart again. I was completely taken off-guard, and of course this is my sweet baby we're talking about. How is it possible that after 7 years of regular grooming we can go from one bad appointment to being banned? Were they lying to us on his report cards and when they said he did fine? How could they not have mentioned that there had been difficulty grooming him? The young man who called to tell me they could not take my dog was apologetic but could not offer me any explanation. He refused to let me speak to anyone above him and would not give me his last name, his first name being very common, so that I could refer to him specifically when calling to speak with someone else. I am not done dealing with this situation and if anything changes I will update my review. However, it would take a customer service miracle on the part of PetSmart to make me ever consider giving them any of my business at this, or any, location ever again! read more
