PetSmart Grooming Review I had a very disappointing experience at the PetSmart grooming salon. I brought my dog, Zoe, in yesterday for a walk-in nail trim. When I entered the salon, the associate named Liz was on her phone. She asked if I had an appointment, and I explained it was just a walk-in nail cut. She told me to wait "one second" while she finished texting. She remained on her phone for a good 2-3 minutes before helping me. After finally checking the computer, she told me my dog's vaccination was expired as of November 19. I explained that Zoe is fully vaccinated and that this didn't sound right. Liz insisted it was expired and argued with me. To resolve this, I immediately contacted Vetco, where my dog receives her vaccines. I even scheduled an appointment the same day. Vetco then called me back and confirmed that Zoe's vaccine is valid until 2027. They emailed me the vaccination records right away. I returned to the salon with the emailed proof and showed Liz that my dog is fully vaccinated. Despite this, she said she still could not take my dog and told me to come back another day. This was frustrating, especially since the incorrect information appeared to be entered on PetSmart's side. I should not be inconvenienced or turned away due to an internal error, especially after providing valid documentation. I asked for a manager. The manager did not resolve the issue and said the head of the salon would call me, but no one ever followed up. Overall, the lack of professionalism, phone use while assisting customers, refusal to accommodate after proof was provided, and poor follow-up from management made this a very frustrating experience. My boyfriend and I took our dog for a nail trim because it's tough to do at home. In the past, she hasn't been looked after properly at other places, but this time we tried PetSmart, and Christine did an amazing job! We got her a cute pawdicure, and her nails look great. She's super happy, and this location will definitely be our go-to from now on! She mentioned she's relatively new, but she did a wonderful job! We've been taking our Cavaliers here for over 10 years, we lost our girl over the summer but have continued going there for my boy Zebel. Yesterday was an absolutely horrific experience. The groomer lied to my dad and said "Zebel was sleepy today", and called us an hour before they usually do telling us he's ready. When we picked him up Zebel's left eye was visibly irritated and he was squinting. We figured maybe some shampoo has gotten in there and tended to it and home with some artificial tears and warm compress. Today he woke up much much worse so we took him to the vet who after examining him said his eye is ulcerated by something sharp, likely a comb. He was completely fine prior to his grooming. Honestly what I really don't appreciate is the "sleepy" comment, if this groomer would have been honest and told us that something slipped after all these years of great service we would have forgiven it. But I will not be gaslit or lied to. He wasn't sleepy, he was squinting because his eye just got stabbed. P.S WE'RE A FAMILY OF DOCTORS don't insult our intelligence. We tip our groomers 30-40 dollars a treatment, and even if we didn't, no one deserves to have their dog be traumatized and lied to about it. I will be reaching out to Petsmart to pay for our vet bill and we will not be bringing our precious boy back here ever again. All I hope is that his eye is not damaged permanently. read more

Yesterday night (3/30/26/) I went in to purchase some crickets for my animals. Unfortunately I had to leave without purchasing anything because of how unsanitary the enclosures looked. The crickets were so dry and dead. I also wanted meal worms but they were (all) full of maggots and flies. Not one container had live worms. Even the ones inside the fridge turned black. I also noticed that the Beta fish water was murky and most of their fins were damaged. The rest of the animals in the enclosures looked weak and the glass was dirty. I was so saddened to see the inhumane treatment of the animals. I hope this changes read more

Whenever I come here on the weekends, they have adoption dog events in store. I think that's really cool. They have a great selection for all animals, reptiles, etc. I was impressed with how many sized terrariums they had and starter kits for reptile owners. We like coming here and looking at the birds, guinea pigs, hamsters, reptiles, fish, and cats. They have a grooming area here as well. The only thing that annoyed me on my last visit was the dog rescue people parked their van blocking the handicap crosswalk to the parking lot. My dad was with me and just had a total knee replacement. He didn't want to step off of the curb and they would move. Rude! read more

We were running low on dry dog food, so stopped by to pick some up. We were greeted by several staff asking if we needed help, to which they were able to help guide us to the correct aisle. The store was clean, fully stocked, and also had a good selection of Christmas pet supplies and treats. Our dogs have a fun time smelling the store and walking around; we'll definitely return here whenever we need pet supplies. read more

I had a grooming appointment scheduled for 9:00 AM and received a voicemail the morning of asking if I could come in earlier at 8:30. I called back to let them know that I couldn't, and the person who answered Sabrina H. was incredibly rude. She didn't have good phone manners at all. After letting her know I couldn't, but that I'd still be there at 9 as scheduled. Her response was "Fine, see you at 9, byeeee," in a sarcastic tone before abruptly hanging up. Super unprofessional. If this is how she talks to other customers, it's honestly not a good look for the business. Man... I've written my fair share of reviews... I do my best to write mostly positive ones. I do my best to give praise as often as I can. Every once in awhile, an experience leaves me so discouraged or frustrated that I can't help myself. I am not buying fish from this location--maybe never again... I used to come here and I used to have a good experience. But at some point, they aquarium attendants became gatekeepers. I would want to buy another two or three fish only for the attendant to ask me what size my tank was... To be frank, I never memorized the gallon size of my tank, so I was never sure. That stopped being good enough for some of these attendants. One time I was narrowly denied getting a few more fish because I couldn't confirm the size of my tank. The last time I was there, the attendant told me that my tank was too small and he wouldn't let me get any more fish... I kid you not--I am there with cash-in-hand (as they say), ready to pay for some fish, and the employee is judging my tank size... So there I am, staring at him like, "Is this for real?" Almost jokingly, but with a tiny bit of snark, I pointed at their own crowded tanks and said something like, "Well, based on your logic, why do you have so many fish per tank?" He pushed back quite authoritatively, "Well, if you have a professional setup like ours pumping gallons of fresh water per hour, then you can have more fish in a small tank too." Okay, so now it's not about the tank size, it's about the water volume and quality of the water filtration. That's fine, I get his logic, but bare in mind, I am still a paying customer that is being refused the opportunity to pay for fish... To add some salt into the wound, I am literally arguing for my right to buy a fish, from a guy who won't sell me a fish, all the while I am staring at "professional" fish tanks--some of which have dead fish in them! There he is judging me for my fish to tank size ratio, as I stare at a tank that has already killed some fish.............. In short, the experience felt so judgmental and ridiculous, I haven't been back since..... I now get my fish from some fantastic people over at the Petco on Irvine and Newport. Go there if you want to buy some fish with no judgment! If this PetSmart location fixes their fish-buying experience, I will happily return. read more

Not to happy with my dogs grooming experience today. First of all when I booked this online the price said it was $83 for bath and haircut and essentials package. When I got my receipt it was $92 with no explanation on why the price was higher than quoted online. Secondly, the groomer said it was going to 3-4 hours. After 4 hours with no text I went in to check on my dog to find out she went on lunch and forgot to call me!! I don't understand why Noelle didn't let me know he was ready before going out to lunch. When I picked him up he was dying of thirst so I don't think they provide water for the dogs while they wait. Thirdly, I have the coupon book with savings and apparently grabbed the wrong $10 off grooming coupon which they didn't honor at checkout. Time to find a new groomers. **Grooming Review** I made an appointment (Saturday 11:30am) and when I arrived with my pup, I was immediately told by Sabrina (in summary): 1. They didn't have time for my dog & he'd probably be wet when i picked him up. 2. They saw that I put that he is anxious, and they didn't have time to deal with him. 3. Schedule at their convenience, not mine. The vibe was horrible and I then just said, cancel my appointment. 4. Sabrina was so rude Ava then rubbed it inny saying "byeeeeeeeee" as I walked out. I was so upset I went to speak to a manager. He listened, and in a sense defended her. I told him that even if that there are scheduling issues, that tone & delivery are everything . BTW, i have been going here for years, so this is not the first time, but it is now the LAST. I had a wonderful experience at a self-wash place in lake forest. Which goes to show, I'd rather drive 15 to 20 minutes out of my way to self wash my dog rather than go back here to this PetSmart location. read more

Unfortunately a lot of their customers (Tustin/Irvine) are spoiled adult children that don't treat their pets with care. Ive overheard Karens and Kevins come in and yell at these poor employees. GROOMING REVIEW: To be fair, I don't expect 5/5 service from ANY PetSmart grooming. I expect decent service for the price to groom my 2 year old goldendoodle. Bath, brush, trim, done. I'm a graduate student so I look for an affordable price but I also am sure to throughly check my dog's demeanor and body when he's returned to me for any negative changes or discrepancies. I moved near this location and all 3 times I've scheduled a service have been bad experiences. Reasons? 1st visit: I scheduled a 7 am appointment so I can drop him off before work. They didn't open up until 7:20, which caused me to be late. Did I complain? No, because I still needed my dog groomed and I want him to be treated well when I'm gone. But I definitely was not happy. The cut was okay upon pick up. Their system was down for payment online but the payment showed it was pending via my bank app. I let them know and they stated they'd let the manager know to call me for follow up. I also asked for a nail grind, which very clearly didn't happen. Never called so I ultimately never paid... even after several attempts to pay online and speak to the manager via phone, post appt. 2nd: I scheduled the same time, hoping it was just a fluke situation but yet again, late 15 minutes. I was still polite and I asked for a teddy bear face shape. The apprentice, named Beyoncé, completely butchered his cut... when I mentioned the lack of teddy vibes and the weird staggered fur on his ears they gaslit me (I don't use the term loosely) into believing that is what I'd asked for. I got home and looked at old photos of my dog with the cut I requested and realized I had definitely gotten played. I knew it before but I didn't want to argue with them. HOWEVER, I called to speak to the manager after noticing blood on my dogs ear. They cut him. Accidents happen but they didn't inform me of it. The manager waived payment. 3rd: Today, I attempted to give them a shot again at 7 am. Not my first choice but the other local locations didn't have any appointments that fit my schedule before our weekend trip. Chose a different groomer and planned to talk to them about my worries from the last experience before leaving my dog there. But I showed up at 7:15am considering they were not open the last two times. When I walked in, they canceled my appointment. :( Okay, so THIS time you were on time but now it's cancelled? Yikes. They were rude and dismissive about my complaint that they had been late the previous two times I had shown up. I can't wait around, using my paid time off from work. Luckily, I had to go drop my dog off at home before coming to work so I didn't have time to politely tell them how trash they are. Taking this as a sign to never return to this location. Totally my fault for trying to go back after they injured my pup. read more

Don't EVER consider leaving your dog here at their dog hotels. I made the mistake of doing so after leaving my 4 month old puppy here when last minute I was told that what I had reserved which was a suite they didn't have. Instead they locked up my 4 month old puppy in a cage and even though I was told they check on him they didn't care he smelled like urine. I was advised the staff who work here have knowledge of pets, yet they failed to recognize that my puppy couldn't hold his pee in a cage. When I complaint via email I received no response. I had to escalate to social media. Then the STORE MANAGER advised me how they offer baths, a solution to wash off the neglect from what my puppy went through. Also, to come back for my puppy to be neglected again and the solution would be to blame the whole experience on one person. I have a feedback for your store manager possibly take a customer service seminar. Hope this helps anyone else who consider this place or you can read the recent bad reviews they've received on BBB. (They don't offer cameras so you can't watch your dog to see if they've been walked.) read more

Every single time I've gone in this store, (and all other Petsmart stores), the groomers are horribly rough and abusive with the dogs, and the pet care assistants yell at the dogs when they bark in their play room with the other dogs. I'm horrified that nothing seems to change even after I've complained so many times. PLEASE DO NOT DROP YOUR PETS HERE OR AT ANY PETSMART LOCATION. This review is for grooming. I am very happy with the service: it was quick, easy to sign up for, you can register online or call in or even a like on Yelp. The total grooming process took a couple of hours. Cost $80. I have a three year old golden retriever and she required trimming, hair, nails. The staff was very friendly and required that she had her rabies vaccine up to date. Some of the various staff members I notice are pretty rough with handling of animals, esp in the aquatics dept. When you buy a fish they just dump the fish over into the bag. As stressed as the fish already are, showing compassion isn't asking for much esp if you are wrking in a place that is supposedly compassionate to animals. I also notice that there were tanks with numerous dead fishes. Someone definitely isn't doing their job. Corporate really needs to be made aware of this if they truly say they care. I made reservations for 7:30am drop off for petsmart Hotel for Fourth of July. We arrived a little earlier than scheduled and the door bell stated to ring the bell for services before store hours, which we did. Note that before I parked I saw an employee standing outside before another employee let her inside the store. I rang the door bell several times and no one came to the door. I can understand if they go by schedule they could have just came and told me that I would have just waited, but they didn't. If they operate I schedule with said they open at 7am then 15 min prior to my scheduled should not have been a problem especially on a holiday since I was going out of town. I had read the reviews for this location and wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt but I guess the reviewers were right. I definitely won't be coming back to this location. I came in to buy dog food for a pet whose owner is in the hospital. I didn't know the full name of the dog food and two employees took time to give me great advice on making sure I got the right food so that the dog did not get sick. I brought my dog in for grooming and he was rejected because he has a patch he has licked hairless. No other groomer in his 14 years has done this. In fact a different groomer at that same pet-smart has groomed him several times. It was very annoying and seemed to me that the groomer wanted to go home and found a ridiculous excuse. The 2 groomers didn't even seem to care. I couldn't even hear the girl that was talking to me about my dog. Not only did they cut his ears and made them bleed, they shaved him completely. GROOMING REVIEW: PLEASE go somewhere else if you're thinking of getting your dog cut here. I took my poodle puppy here for a first time groom, of course I didn't expect amazing things, but definitely didn't expect this bad of service. The staff are dismissive and barely even acknowledged us when we walked in, the guy who groomed my dog said about four sentences total when asking what I wanted done and how it would look. Two hours later I get a call about how she is too wiggly and they can't cut her what so ever and are only bathing and brushing, both of which I could do at home. I was also told over the phone that they do not groom first time puppies, which I was not told beforehand. After returning to pick her up the staff informed me that in fact did tell me all of this to begin with! Waste of time and money coming from a college student. Go somewhere else! Update: Kept my dogs health papers after we left, then couldn't find them when we came to pick them up. The same guy we dealt with earlier did not help us at all, was very rude and sent us away with out the papers. This location has always been my favorite and I really like how clean it is. Every time that I have picked up Spam, he was always so happy and he looked clean. Compared to other locations, Spam was not left sticky, wet, or dirty. He did leave one day with pink spots on his coat, but the staff member did tell me that it was chalk on him. He was rolling over the floors where there was chalk aha. The staff members have always been really nice and helpful until one day there was this one guy. The whole time that this guy was talking to me, he did not make any eye contact whatsoever. He kept staring at my chest. I felt very disgusted by him. It was very annoying that he still addressed Spam as "her" or "she" when I corrected him many times. He was definitely unprofessional. Overall, other staff members are friendly and professional. Went to PetSmart to have my cat Tux groomed just a few weeks ago. I had a pretty great experience taking my cat here. I think its a safe choice - Staff was friendly and COVID-19 cautious. They made me wait outside - The groomers is located in the back of the store so I just window shopped and waited in my car while waiting for my cat. The price was obviously more expensive than expected, but thankfully I got beyond what I paid for this time.
