My wife and I are in town from the Atlanta area welcoming our Son and his batallion back from the Middle East. We love our BBQ and after researching the restaurants in the area decided to try Petty's. I cannot overstate how great of a decision we made. I had the Wrangler Strangler with the brisket and ribs with the mac & cheese and pinto beans as sides. Every bite of everything was delicious. The brisket pulled apart easily, had a great smoke ring and smoke flavor. I loved it The ribs were perfect. Smokey pork goodness with a great bark that did not fall off the bone. A properly cooked rib will not fall off the bone, though many people prefer them that way. These had just a little tug to them and you could see your bite mark. Again, perfect. The mac and cheese was obviously home made from scratch and seemed to have absorbed some of the smoke. The beans were a perfect compliment to everything. The staff was just as friendly as could be and the only thing that we don't like is the fact we are leaving town tomorrow morning and cannot get back there. If you are black, this place is not for you. If you are accustomed to flavorful BBQ from Memphis, KC or even homemade, this place is not for you. I was craving BBQ, looked at the reviews and this was the second highest rated place. I went there around 1900 and was super excited. I got home and became disillusioned and thoroughly disappointed. The coleslaw, dry, not wet at all. It was like a salad. The mac n' cheese was pasty. I needed sauce to make the brisket (2) and pulled pork (1) sandwiches taste okay. Even the sauce was bland. I'm from California and my husband has taken me to all the top BBQ places in Texas. Without a doubt, this is one of my favorites! The brisket is tender and juicy and has one of the best flavors from smoking I have ever tasted. I also liked the ribs and sausage. I went on a Wednesday and they had greens as a side, they were a littly salty and the beans were a bit spicy for me, but man that brisket was devine!!!!!!!!!!!
