Anytime family is in town, we order here. Easily spend $300-$415 each time. Something is ALWAYS left out of the bag and of course we don't realize until we get back home. This is because my husband and I are bbq fans and like to travel to try different states and try regional bbq. Being Central Texas natives, we know we have the best bbq but we enjoy trying new styles too. This was our first time trying this fast food chain. We actually both worked for years at Bill Miller's BBQ in SA which is well known fast food BBQ. We both said Smokey MO's was a step above Bill's but definitely not artisanal, crafted bbq. It's a step below Rudy's but that's mostly based on the brisket. The brisket in particular has no smoke ring, decent bark we had cutter's choice so a mix of lean and a little fatty. The turkey was moist and pretty flavorful. Sausage was just ok. Mac was decent, reasonably cheesy with a little texture. The potato salad definitely was like a grocery store PS. The bar with fixins is great and the tea was excellent! It's a great option and we are glad to have it in the area. Really I'd give this a 3.5. Inside was nice, a bit small but comfortable. It's nice they also have outdoor seating too when so many places in HH don't have that option. I would skip the chop though, it didn't sit well with my husband by the next day. It was TOO Smokey overly so, a a little burnt tasting. He enjoyed the Frito pie but wouldn't get it again because of this. Overall, we'd go back for certain items only. read more

I visited a couple of days ago for the first time, and was very satisfied with my order of ribs, brisket, and creamed corn. The beans were "OK". The meat was tender, flavorful, and came with sauce on the side although it could stand alone. The creamed corn was different from what I'm used to, but it was very delicious. The price was just right. The staff was friendly, and the place was clean. I highly recommend over Rudy's hands down! read more

I have celiac disease and I just went to this location tonight with my wife. Usually get a 2 meat plate but I wanted something different tonight. I asked Rosie, if there was any type of gluten free way to order the chopped sandwich and she said she suggested a corn tortilla. I went with it! It was delicious BTW. After dinner I was craving banana pudding and she was so kind to make one for me with no wafers in it! I will definitely be recommending this franchise to anyone that wants good bbq and great staff! Glad Smokey Mo's is here for some variety in BBQ places in the area.I have recently tried their pork ribs, brisket and sausage. All of it was quite tasty, but I must say that the ribs are absolutely outstanding. Smokey, tender and falling off the bone on the first bite was what I experienced! The service is pretty quick with an attentive staff and managers who greet you when you come or leave. This place will definitely be on my restaurant rotation. Brand new location- service was friendly and restaurant was clean! The food itself was good-- we tried brisket, Mac and cheese, potato salad and cheesy potatoes. The meat wasn't spectacular compared to other BBQ places around, but the sides were good. Portion sizes were small for the price. The food is delicious ( we had brisket sandwiches) and the serving size is good. The young lady that took my order was helpful and friendly, and seemed to care that I was there. The restaurant is just the right size for the area, and when it is cooler there is a patio so you can sit outside. All in all a very pleasant experience, and the food is really good! read more

Pork belly is my choice of meat and other BBQ places don't offer this. So, this will be "my to go" BBQ place. The service was quick and the staff, very welcoming and courteous. They only serve one type of brisket. They do not have different parts such as the moist very dry did not enjoy the meal at all had came in and did a takeout got home and the food was horrible. We're not go there ever again. read more

This is just my opinion. I ordered a load of potato and I felt like it was a little bland little on the cold side as well. The beans and the potato salad were good. The brisket was OK tender and juicy sausage was OK. Turkey was good. Ribs were a hit or miss Summer tough and summer falling off the bum, but I will admit the barbecue sauce tasted just like Rudy's barbecue sauce, so that was disappointing and I felt like it was all a little pricey for the amount of food I got. read more

I checked out the reviews for Smoky Mo's at other locations throughout the state, and I was hesitant about trying the one in Harker Heights because of those reviews. They were lukewarm at best. But I have to say, after trying their ribs, they were as good as any ribs I have had anywhere. FALL OFF THE BONE TENDER!!! With a good strong, smoked flavor and perfect crust. Their sauce is very tasty also. I doubt that I will ever go to Rudy's ever again. I can't wait to try their brisket next time! read more
