TL;DR: Appalling customer service from this food truck at Carmichael Concert in the Park. Based on the positive reviews, maybe it was an off night--but the owner's behavior toward customers was completely unacceptable. I waited in a long line to order (no issue there) and was quoted a 20-minute wait. There was no buzzer system, so we had to keep checking back. Since we had our kids with us, my husband and I took turns monitoring the order. Around the 30-minute mark, the person who had been behind me in line received their food. I checked on our order to make sure we hadn't missed it while switching off, and was met with a rude, condescending response--being pointed toward a row of order tickets with no real help. At the 50-minute mark, I asked someone who had just gotten their food how long they waited--they said about 25 minutes. At that point, I checked again, worried our order had been missed. The owner responded in a combative and dismissive way. When I pointed out the discrepancy in wait times, he insisted the other customer must have ordered first--even after I clarified that wasn't the case. It was incredibly frustrating and dismissive. We ended up waiting over an hour. The food itself was fine (though a bit heavy on onions and peppers compared to the meat), but the real issue was how customers were treated. At one point, while my husband was waiting, the owner was arguing with another customer to the extent that security had to step in. To top it all off, a really cool dude! He is located in the Pickle Ball Court parking lot off Gibson in Roseville tonight until 8pm, and is there often. Odd that I never rated them until now. The storefront is CLOSED as of late June. See their post on their facebook page on June 24 for info. I placed an order for pick-up a few weeks back. Phat Jerry's is just off the Watt Ave / 80 Exit, located in a small plaza with a Starbucks and Fried Chicken spot. Parking was easy and staff was friendly with quick service. Inside was clean with plenty of seating. My Philly was PHAT indeed, I got the Super Philly Cheesesteak, their original 10" cheesesteak with 50% more cheese and steak. It comes with onions, sweet and hot peppers. I also added green peppers. For about $15 it was well worth the price for the amount of food. I split this was a friend and we were both completely full. It stayed warm on the ride home too. There aren't a lot of options for Philly cheesesteak in Elk Grove so when I saw their food truck at the weekly food truck Friday event at the park near our house, we decided to try it out. The guy calling out orders was interesting. He yelled out my name and I had to put down my drink in my stroller and walk over, I wasn't even that far but he kept yelling out my name over and over without any breaks or actually looking to see who was walking towards the truck. It was actually kind of embarrassing as if I wasn't listening or taking forever to come over, but I was already walking over. That whole situation was off putting. We ordered the philly cheesesteak fries, which came out to $18, definitely expected as standard food truck pricing. It was a good amount of meat on the mound of fries though. I wish they were different fries, as I'm not a huge fan of crinkle fries, just makes me think they were reheated from a frozen bag. Loved the onions and peppers on it though, they were nicely cooked and tender. But I really dislike nacho cheese and I think it's a cop out way to put cheese on something - if you're gonna be cooking the meat anyway, it would taste ten times better if it just had real melted cheese on top! So I ordered the Super Philly, overall they got some good tasting food. Cheesesteak came out hot and fresh and tasted great. Bread was soft and the flavor was good. The garlic fries were crispy and packed with garlic and I'm not even a huge fan of steak fries. My only gripes were that I thought it'd be more cheesy for having "extra cheese" and the sandwich looked more like a 7 inch than the 10 inch that it said the Super Philly is supposed to be. Pretty solid cheesesteak shop. I called in my order at 11:00am for pickup. I selected the Super Philly Cheesesteak with everything on it. I arrived at 11:15am and the place was packed! That's a good sign right? My order was ready to go. If I ever go back and have it again I will have them hold the pickled jalapenos as they took away from the taste of the cheesesteak. My daughter and I were regulars for about 5 years. About 3 or 4 months ago, my daughter and I decided to go there. And when we did, the bread was different, and the meat was dry. So we said, well, maybe things changed, we'll give it another try. we tried it not a second time, not just a third time, but a fourth time. And with all 4 experiences The meat was dry and they've changed their bread. I'm not sure if we're the only ones that think like this, but I used to rate fat Jerry's, a plus 5 now. I'm sad to say that is just a 2.5.(staff is friendly) we really wish you'd go back to the bread you used to use and keep the meat a bit juicier. Now i'm out, looking for a new philly sandwich. Now, why the 3*? Small Fries $5. I could hold all of them in one hand. Unbelievable! To add insult to injury, I tried using a discount sent to my email. Min order for discount is $40. Was excited when I saw there was a Philly restaurant close and the menu looked to have potential. The venue is small and the staff was super friendly and did a great job answering our questions. I ordered the 10" Philly with the cheese sauce and a side of onion rings. The onion rings were large and crispy with a good flavor, but the Philly was less than what I expected. The meat is cooked realtime so it's not old, but when I took my first bite into the sandwich, my first taste was the meat was very dry with little to no seasoning. The cheese sauce added a little moisture and flavor to the meat, but not enough to offset what the meat was lacking. We might have caught them on an off day based on other reviews, but don't think we will give it a second chance. read more

The Philly was good and the onion rings tasted even better but the customer service is HORRIBLE! I ordered and when I got my receipt I noticed I was over charged on 3 items. I explained to The cashier that 3 items were over charged. He proceeded to tell me that the menu prices that were posted were incorrect. The owner has raised prices and the menu doesn't reflect that. I told him he should let the customers know or post a sign or better yet write in the correct price. Only the take out window is open and they have the menu posted on the window. I also ordered a combo and he asked if I wanted a bottle or fountain drink. I got a bottle. The receipt showed I was charged for a side and drink separately. He said if I got a fountain it would have been the combo price. I said, why didn't you tell me that when you asked if I wanted bottle or fountain after I just asked for it to be a combo.??? When my order was ready, I asked for ranch for the onion rings. I asked for 2. He gave me two and said I had to pay for the 2nd ranch which was $.60cents. I said really after you just over charged me on 3 of my 4 items. He really wanted to charge me. I said keep it. Mind you, the cups of ranch are tiny. Such a horrible experience. When I was able to eat my cheesesteak there was a tiny piece of plastic. That was the topping to my horrible experience. I will not be going back! This use to be my favorite Philly cheesesteak spot.
