I grew up in Vallejo where Bud's Burgers is a local favorite. Sam's has that same nostalgic feel from its classic menu down to its patrons. This place has all outdoor seating with a walk-up window. The sign says Cash Only but they accept card with a $0.75 charge. Parking is in a small lot. There are three outdoor tables to sit and eat. I ordered a medium-well cheeseburger with a Mexican Coke and shared a large fries with my husband. My burger came with "everything" which looked like tomatoes, shredded lettuce and a burger sauce which tasted good. I personally wish I had more tomatoes and added onions. We agreed that the food and atmosphere satisfied our Bud's cravings. read more

Sam's Burger is refreshingly awesome! The double cheese burger with everything, from the thinly sliced lettuce & onions, to the fresh tomato, with two large beef patties on an utterly scrumptious bun that is secure and compliments the taste. The sauce they use is great. What's great is that their burger & its taste never changes, never disappoints. I've seen other poor reviews and I question whether they've had their taste buds burnt, because Sam's is the real deal, plus very reasonably priced. read more

You should remove your cash only sign or at least add a sign that says you accept card with a fee. I came here and I almost left because the sign says cash only but luckily the lady at the window stopped us and that's when I said I'm sorry I don't have cash and she said they accepted cards. In the span of me waiting for my food, 2 customers walked away because they didn't have cash when in reality you could have gotten 2 more sales but because of that silly sign you got none. read more

This is a fun place to drive to and either sit outside or eat in your car. They take only cash, so come prepared. I ordered a double cheeseburger to split with my coworker, large fries and a banana milkshake. The burger was really satisfying and tasty. I like the special sauce. The fries were delicious. I loved how thick the milkshake was. My coworker said the banana was overripe. I'm a fan of this restaurant. I need to try more of the items since they have fried zucchini, corn dogs and a pastrami sandwich. read more

I love Sam's Classic Burgers. Be sure to bring cash when you go there as they do not take credit or debit cards. I always get the Triple Cheeseburger for $8.75, crinkle cut cries with ranch dressing, and a deep fried burrito. The burger is huge and it is a good burger. They do have deep fried mushrooms, which are pretty good too. However, I would not get the pastrami sandwich. read more

Loved the everything in the burger, it was really big for a double so I cannot go for triple but if you love very good grilled patties go for it! Large fries was also a lot of fries so we might have one to share next time (just kidding). Food came out pretty fast, we paid, sat to chit chat and in few minutes food was out. It is a road side burger joint so expect to eat outside. There are a lot of tiny toys, trinkets on the window so my boyfriend has fun going over those while we waited to order. I gave five stars for food but I gave four stars because it is a cash only place and it was a miracle I had cash on me considering how the last three years were. First time here. Small walk up burger spot. Inside is used as a storage, very messy. Honestly chosen due to no line during dinner rush and good Yelp reviews. There menu has chili burger, chili dog, but no chili fries. I asked and they said no they don't do chili fries. Oh well, got a single patty cheseburger and a small fry. Burger patty was very thin kind of wish I'd of gotten a double, but for how thin it was $2 for another paty doesn't seem worth it. Even as thin as the patty was it was not fully cooked. It's reminiscent of your old school 70's burger spot with three concrete tables in the front but no dine in. The service was great. Awesome classic burgers, chicken sandwich is a fried patty, the hotdogs are huge and good. And also chicken and fries is a great price. Always get a chocolate malt shake extra malt and mmmmm. They're cash only and I don't think they salt their fries but I just add my own and don't mind at all! They're always polite and quick service. They also always remember me which is nice. As I've always loved the small, family-owned and operated burger joints, it's actually surprising that I haven't been to "Sam's Classic Burgers" yet. I've been residing in the Citrus Heights area since 2016 and have passed by this place dozens of times. It is definitely reminiscent of an old school burger joint that you'd see from the 1950's/60's with a small ordering station and a few stone tables for outdoor dining. I came here with my lady on the evening of Friday 5/8/2020. There was only one other couple ordering their meals and it was not very busy at all. Keep in mind, this place has no indoor dining so everything is either to-go or enjoying at their outdoor patio. However, due to the COVID-19 restrictions, we had to take our food to go. I ended up ordering their single patty Cheeseburger with a side of Small Fries; nothing too elaborate since this was my first time trying this place out. Total price comes out to about $7 which was a very good deal since they give you a decent amount of food. After the short 10-minute drive home, I unwrapped the burger just to see how this place fared with other burger joints I've been to. Overall, a good burger! It definitely had that charbroiled flavor to it while they were not selfish on the meat, cheese, and produce. To put it into perspective, it's much like something you would enjoy at a backyard barbecue party. The sandwich itself is a bit of a mess so don't expect a neatly styled burger. The crinkle-cut fries were sized very proportionately as they were cooked to perfection and well worth the price. Overall, "Sam's Classic Burgers" is a very decent no-frills above average burger place. It's definitely not the best burger I've had but it fills you up and their prices are competitive. Service was lacking though as there was no smile from the lady taking my order. But food quality made up for that. My rating, a respectable four stars. read more

I was craving a burger, and my younger sister took me out to lunch. She and her husband love this place, and I had never been, so there we are. Note: CASH ONLY!!! Just so you're not unprepared as I was. The burger was filling, but the meat, and the melted cheese, were fairly flavorless. They were cooked well enough, but I tasted no meat nor cheese. Only the "crunch" of the lettuce, unfortunately. The fries, however, were near perfect. Really hot, crunchy on the outside, and hot and soft on the inside. Yay for good french fries. I think this place has the long-term nostalgia thing going for it, as it was "adequate," but certainly nothing to write home about. When I want a good, authentic burger, I can think of other "Mom and Pop" restaurants in the area. Ultimately, this falls into my "probably wouldn't recommend, but wouldn't object if friends wanted to go" category. I just may try something else besides the burger read more

I loved going here when I was in high school at Mesa Verde just down the road. I love in n out burger but if I had a choice I would pick Sam's any day. The burger is not the most beautiful, but that's not what makes a good burger in my opinion. I get everything that comes on the cheeseburger and it all pairs so well and full of flavor with their special sauce. Can't go wrong if you like a good size burger! It's more flat than large so if your worried about those massive towers of burgers this ain't it, large but in roundness not height! I'm also not a fan of crinkle cut fries but they fry them nicely here and I still eat them. Same nice lady running the place and killing it! Happy I came back after 8 years.
