I had a long day at work and decided stop by on my home to grab some dinner to go. I've been wanting to try this place for a while and finally had a chance. I was promptly greeted when I walked in. Pretty sure the owners were working, but I failed to ask. I placed my order and sat at a table to wait. My food was ready within a few minutes and I took my Nacho Steak Sandwich and fries home. Well now that my regular spot closed, I was in need of a new place for cheesesteaks. I ended up going with Granite because of the rating and it was a good choice. Give their Italian CS a try, it's got the works. The garlic on it isn't very strong, so could use a little more. The "Famous NY sauce" I didn't know what it was and so asked for it on the side the first time I went. Turned out it was coney meat sauce, like you'd get on chili dogs out there. It's kinda weird to have it on a cheesesteak, I'm not sure how I feel about it. You may want to try it on the side and have half plain and half with to see if you have a preference. I think it just kinda adds moisture due to the oiliness. I wanna try their nacho cheese CS next time, looks extra cheesy. Price is a lil high it seems, but I guess relative to what footlong Subway or local deli shop prices are, not crazy. And I'd say they give you plenty of meat, a footlong will stuff ya. Krinkle fries were fine, I got a good amount for takeout. And at least they have "normal" hours, so I can get dinner there at a normal hour, unlike my old spot. Closed Mondays. read more

I eat heard about once a month when I travel to Sac. The food is great, my standard #5 with fries is the perfect lunch. Prices are reasonable, the meat is top notch and the rolls are soft but hold up to all the toppings. The owner knows his business and if you are a Godzilla fan stop in and check out some of the movie posters. Wow! I got the Italian Cheesesteak (to-go), and mannnnn it was dang good! So meaty, I mean full of chopped meat, and the peppers, onions, mushrooms, and sauce (which I asked for on the side), and the delicious bread rolls they serve it on was so delicious. I feel so bad because this is located right across the street from my house, and I've only gone twice! Not anymore, I will continue to support this gem on Watt Ave. and Whitney in Arden-Arcade. They are closed Mondays, like many places are I noticed, but if you go, you will be in for an awesome hot sub! I wanted to get onion rings, but my appetite was not that big; I will pair the two next time. I love supporting local family-owned businesses, (my dad owned a local HVAC shop in South Texas), so I understand great customer service with a reputation that follows, plus word of mouth. Just give this place a shot, and if you want to grab an adult beverage next door to take home (because I got my sandwich to-go), there is Bro's Liquor Store next door. Do not let the strip center vibe (some may say sketchy) detour you from stopping in. They do serve food inside as well with tables, and some old school game machines: Mrs. Pac-Man and a Jurassic Park Pin Ball machine. The condiments are nicely set out and a very clean establishment. When I order a half pound burger, I expect a half pound burger. Not a burger with two quarter pound patties. That's a double quarter pound burger. I didn't want a double quarter pound burger. I wanted a half pound burger. If you ran out of half pound patties, tell me. Don't just give me two quarter pound patties and hope I won't care. If you go to the circus to see a 9 foot tall man, you're going to be disappointed when it turns out to be two 4.5 foot tall people standing on each other's shoulders. The garlic fries were passable. It's literally garlic on fries. Hard to mess up. The chicken strips were hard and tasted like old oil. Little didn't even eat half of them. And she'd just finished a rugby tournament. Granites is a classic sub joint with some of the original arcade games and classic posters on the wall which is such a vibe. Everything was amazing and their serving sizes are super filling. We got the small subs and they were jam packed with goodness. The wings were perfectly crispy and the buffalo is a must try. The fries were perfectly fried and super tasty. You can get it hot or mild and it's always cooked fresh to order! This new location is a bit hidden behind another business but worth finding. The Italian sandwich is so good! I don't even have a pic to show, but trust me it's delicious. I got mild and it was the perfect amount of heat paired with the onions and peppers. I only gave it 4 stars because the garlic fries could have been cooked a little crispier, but they were also really good. I'll probably just ask them for extra crispy next time. Excellent pastrami sandwich. I normally get mine with extra meat, but not these. Generous amount come standard on the sandwich. Pastrami is shaved thin and the roll holds up well. The onion rings were spot on and also abundant. The cold combo sandwich also a hit with the wife! We are definitely going to order from here again. Have not tried the wings yet.. I was craving something quick to eat. (A shake to be exact ) I'm not sure If I came at a bad time. Because the lady who was working the ordering window was very rude and more concerned about her conversation with her fellow coworkers as they were arguing. She finished her conversation an looked my way and rolled her eyes. She spoke as if she was mad at me & was very unprofessional. Of course the shake machine was down(broken) so I thought I'd order a appetizer. So then I looked over the menu and asked a few questions about a couple things on the menu,she seemed very irritating I was asking an answer very rudely. Adam experience there was more about customer service, and the person who was taking my order I will not know how the food or shake taste because I will never go back there again.. customer service is very important and as a supervisor or owner. Man the meat was seasoned just right, almost a smash burger, perfect melt on the cheese, fresh veggies, super filling! It definitely hit the spot. The service was great as well, I was greeted as soon as I walked in, the young lady behind the counter even paid me a compliment, I the chef came out and said hello as well.
