Thai ice tea and mango salad
    Billy L.

Calling all Thai lovers, this is a must try if you're in the North York area. This newly opened restaurant is a family run spot that serves up amazingly delicious home cooked Thai food. I came by to check out this place a few days after their grand opening and all I can say is wow. Chef joe, his fiancé Lisa, and chef Francis are super friendly who despite being super busy preparing take out orders, took the time to chat to get to know us better. Really mom and pop shop vibe as if you were going to their house for dinner. We left this homey restaurant with our belly's so full. We ordered the street style beef pad Thai, chicken phat kaphrao, mango salad, and mango sticky rice. Everything we order was so good! I would strongly suggest the pad Thai. The flavour would be on par with Pai downtown. However, the beef was a bit chewy but still really good. The noodles were cooked perfectly and the flavour had a really nice balance between sweet and sour. Highly recommended. I've never had holy basil before and to be honest, had no idea what it was. Gave it a shot since the restaurant is named after this dish. Definitely did not disappoint at all. It's a rice stir fry with chicken and it added a nice texture and sauce to the rice. I would recommend this as well. If you're a fan of mango salad, this will knock your socks off. The fish sauce that chef joe uses in this was something that I never had anywhere else. I asked him what he used but he mentioned it was a house special. Check that out, super refreshing. The mango sticky rice was good, although some more mango would have been the cherry on top. The sticky rice had lots of coconut flavour and when mixed with the condensed milk. Unreal. Great way to end off the meal with some dessert. The Thai ice tea and coconut smoothie were so damn good as well. Coconut smoothie was very coconutty with little coconut chunks. The Thai ice tea was really tasty, not too sweet or overpowered by the Thai tea. Thai ice tea is currently 50% off as well, can't go wrong with that. Looking forward to trying the curries and also the Thai chicken wings the next time I visit (chef joe said this has been the most common besides the pad Thai and holy basil).

I'm usually a tough critic when it comes to my asian cuisine (mainly because I'm asian and grew up eating everything in the Asian culture) but this newly opened Thai restaurant was exceptional (to say the least) and is now my new go to spot. I heard about this restaurant thanks to my client who owns a bakery in the neighbourhood. The dangerous part about this whole thing is I'm from the east end of Scarborough so it's not exactly anywhere near me. But if you're reading this for confirmation on whether or not you should try this place out, my answer is that I will gladly drive here anytime I'm in the mood for Thai food and will bring some friends and family when I do. The quality in the food and preparation was well done. Joe and Lisa are a lovely couple and if you ever want to test their passion for hospitality just ask about what's on their menu. Excellent service from the moment I walked in until I walked out. They were very welcoming and I had a great time chatting with them that I ended up dining in my take-out that I ordered! The portions are perfect and the menu has something for everybody. I will be sure to call Joe and Lisa for catering in my next work event. I'm excited for the both of them and I can't wait to see how their little restaurant evolves. Ps. If you're not sure what to order, sip on some Coconut Shake while you browse through their menu. And for starters, make sure you try their Thai Chicken Wings (spicy cashews) you'll be happy you did!

Pad See Ew, $12.95. Not worth it!
    Nerissa W.

Ordered the following: Chicken wings, $10.95 (8 pcs). Pad Thai, $12.95 plus $2 chicken extra. Pad See Ew, $12.95 Pop, $1.50. Pad Thai did not taste like Pad Thai at all! I didn't taste the tamarind in it. The Pad See Ew looked more like the Pad Thai I normally eat. It actually tasted a bit flavourful than the Pad Thai. The wings were meh, too dark for my preference; might be fried in old oil. The yellow sauce that came with it was ok. This resto/take-out joint is a real disappointment! Their prices are too high for what they offer: bland carbs, 5 pcs of broccoli, 5 pieces of rectangular tofu and the extra $2 for the chicken was not worth it. It is not even a restaurant. No seating. No washroom. I am quite suspicious about the 5/4star ratings here. After eating their fare, it felt like a joke. Their rendition is not a good representation of Thai food. Not recommended.

I'm happy to have tried this new Thai place as it satisfied my craving for Thai food in the area and I wanted to try something other than my usual go to place Eat BKK Thai. It's a small place that's better suited for take out rather than dining in as there's only bar seating for 4 people by a window. I didn't mind at all since I like these cute ma and pa type places. The prices were really reasonable when we looked at the menus again in front of the register. We reheated the food at home (except for the taro fries since those were eaten during the drive) since we live more than half an hour away but everything still tasted really good. We ordered the street style pad thai, which was good but could have used a bit more tamarind flavour. The green curry was done well - creamy, flavourful curry with a nice bit of heat to it. The hot and sour soup was also really good - loved the spices in it and it was one of the best versions I've tasted. The taro fries were fried well with a good crisp to it and filling as an appetizer. My husband and I were happy with the portions as the pad thai and curry were enough for lunch the next day as well. The one con was the wait time since it was slightly more than half an hour wait time. They got really busy when we arrived since it was prime dinner time on a weekend - we realized after that we should have called ahead. They also had to remake the pad thai for us as they had put peanuts in it, though we had asked for no peanuts to begin with due to an allergy. They offered us a free Thai iced tea to apologize for the wait and it was a good version of it but probably would have been better with less ice. Definitely give this new Thai place a try! I already know that I'll be back when I'm in the area again!

Phat, an abbreviation that = (P)retty (H)ot (A)nd (T)empting. For example, this place is Phat! I came here after seeing this place pop up on BlogTO, and the food did not disappoint. I had their coconut curry with chicken and the flavours were popping! Every spoon full of curry was phat = pretty hot and tempting. I also really liked the staff they are friendly with their thank you's and smiles. And whomever runs cash need a raise, she has great customer service skills! The only thing I wish they had was more seating. The place only has stool seating and no tables but that's okay. P.S. If you like Pai, the Thai place downtown this place is equal or better!

Amazing selection of food. Taste authentic. Definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves Thai food. Also the mango sticky rice dessert is a must try :).

Mango salad- good but really sweet

Saw the good reviews for the place so decided to come. Didnt realize it was a tiny shop with tiny seating area , but that was fine and added to the coziness. The food overall was decent, however we thought the prices were too high, especially for Thai/asian homestyle food.

I came back to Toronto just to have their food two years after my last visit to the city. Food is fantastic. Service is great and friendly. I strongly recommend anyone to try their food.

    Panang Curry with chicken
    Raya S.

The staff were very warm and friendly! The curry was delicious with fresh ingredients. The food was tasty however BKK is tastier. There is only one bar to sit at and eat so the place is more of a take out spot. The prices are very steep- everything is prices before protein add on so be careful however the quantity is quite decent. I would probably opt for another place given that there are more tastier Thai food places and cheaper.

    Veggie pad thai
    Becky T.

Pad Thai was super savory. I forgot to mention spice/heat level but I'd imagine with a bit of heat it would have been even better. Thai iced tea was also super satisfying. Would recommend and come back to try other items !

    Herman W.

Street style pad thai that I had was one of the best in Toronto, one I could compare to those of Khao San Road, Pai, and Sala (all of whom I consider gold standards for Toronto Thai food). Soup, papaya salad, and mango sticky rice all well made and very satisfying. This is probably the very first time I've had a Thai Iced Tea for which the tea was a main component of flavour and not an afterthought drowned in orange sugary milk water. My girlfriend and I have already decided to return for the wings, the newly added khao man gai, and of course the restaurant's namesake dish. It's abundantly clear how much these folks are focused on the quality and authenticity of their food. Addictingly delicious, it comes highly recommended.

We ordered 2 cocktails to start with the tapioca dumplings and green papaya fritters. The drinks came out immediately. I had the Tincture Perfect, which was outstanding. It was the perfect mix of sweet, sour, floral and bitter. I loved it! My husband had the Unit 75 which he really enjoyed. The grapfruit bitters rounded out the sweetness of the Chambord and the sourness of the lemon. We decided to order another cocktail each just as our food arrived. I had the I Have a Lychee Secret. It was a little on the sweet side, but was very yummy. I loved the black pepper on top but didn't really taste much cilantro. My husband had La Passionista which was great. It was so well-balanced and flavourful. The dumplings were AMAZING! The butterly pea infused tapioca gave the perfect bouncy, chewy texture to the outside and the mushroom and radish centres were so tasty. Our waitress explained that they should be eaten in a lettuce cup with cilantro, mint and peanuts. YUM! Such a flavour bomb. The only thing I would have changed would be to add some sort of a spicy, salty, sour dipping sauce like a nuoc cham. The green papaya fritters were also just fantastic. They were crispy, crunchy and the dipping sauce was a little spicy and sweet. All in all, we really enjoyed our meal and would 100% return. I have already reccomended them to others.
