I was craving some dim-sum tonight and I'm happy we stumbled upon this cute spot. We didn't need to make reservations, we just walked in. The host let us know that there was a shortage of staff so our food would take 30-40 minutes, which we had no problem waiting. Everyone was wearing a mask and the tables were evenly spread out. They were short of staff - only one waitress and the manager was on duty so they had many hats to fulfill. They did a really nice accommodating us and asking if everything tasted good. The food was very delicious, we got the wonton soup for our appetizers, I would recommend it with some chili oil. Give its a nice kick! We then ordered Shumai, 2 order of pork buns, fried chicken dumplings, wild berry gelato, and sesame balls. The shumai was kind of heavy, I thought it was a little too much but it had a ton of flavor plus with soy sauce it fit nicely together. The pork buns were so fluffy, the filling wasn't too much however the bun was so soft and fluffy it definitely fills you up. My favorite was the fried dumpling, it was soup dumpling and I had no idea that it would be soupy so be aware when you go to bite into it, you will get soup first! I definitely recommend the fried dumpling were so good, wish we ordered more! The gelato was also very good, it has a creamy consistency and small wild berries. By the time we had the sesame balls I was so beyond full we couldn't finish all of them. I think the food was super delicious especially for the price. Amazing food. This is not your usual Chinese restaurant. The food is the most authentic I have found in this area. The cucumbers with garlic were something I have not seen in a restaurant. They were well seasoned. My companion had never tried them before. He is now a convert. We had Beef in a claypot with radish. The food was seasoned perfectly. I had never had this dish before. We were there on Sunday afternoon around 1:30. We waited about 40q mins. The hostess was very cognizant about keeping the ratio of tables to server even. Our server was Joel. He did a very good job. We've been getting delivery from here almost every week and the food is absolutely amazing! Their chefs really know how to bring out each dish's unique flavors and leave a lasting impression. Their beef claypot is incredibly rich and smooth, while their hainan chicken is light but savory. Their shen jian baos are like little mouthfuls of pure joy, and their crispy fish has a beautiful breading and tender fillet, even if the dish is a bit small. All in all, the main dishes are very good and I can not recommend them enough! Most importantly, the food flavor and quality is very consistent. There's no guessing about whether the food will taste good or not because it always does. I also love how customer-focused they are. To start off, I do enjoy Asian fusion/Asian-inspired/Asian with a twist cuisine. Phat Phat is just bad bad. There better dishes are the one's on the more American side like chicken wings and calimari. The decent items were "okay" while being smaller and priced higher comparatively. The bad items like lamb dumpling ugh (sweet shell was not noted on the menu as far as I am concerned) - what a terrible take. They sure are creative, but that doesn't make it art. You get the service of a typical authentic dim sum place without the yummy. Closing notes - If you frequent Asian food, this ain't the place for you. This is a gem of a Chinese and Asian restaurant. I stopped in for a quick lunch shortly after indoor dining opened and I happened to be in Schaumburg. The menu is extensive and full of so much more than your typical Americanized Chinese fare. I got the seafood and tofu clay pot. Served sizzling hot in a clay pot with a side of rice, this was the best version of this dish I've had since moving to Chicago. The sauce is rich and flavorful. Full of garlic. Our main courses were very fresh and high quality: both the Kung Pao chicken and chicken Hong Kong Mee had a very nice flavor. The lunch portions are rather small, though, so be aware. Normally I am ok with this, however for $9 & $9.75 I expect a bit more. Also, it was really cold in the building. The food: We got the popcorn tofu ($8) and both pan fried and steamed vegetable dumplings ($6 each), and all were fantastic. I do wish there was some sort of sweet sauce with the dumplings (like eel sauce perhaps?), but the flavor was wonderful even without sauce. So, we weren't sure what to expect and had to rely on others' reviews. From our experience, the reviews are right. This restaurant is great. The attention to detail, like labeling all of the dishes so we did not have to guess what the package contained. We ordered a smattering of items to share because we have a large family whose tastes vary. Not one item disappointed. Just because you put a "Short Staffed, please be patient" sign up doesn't excuse bad service. We saw the sign and understood as we were seated, but there was 1 waiter taking care of 3 tables of 2 people each (6 total guests, only customers in there at the moment as it just opened for lunch). Waited almost 10 mins for the waiter to come back and ask us if we wanted anything to drink (we just wanted water). All 3 tables waited this long. Service was slow from then on. I wouldn't have questioned it, as i was understanding it from the "short staffed" sign, but the thing was we could see the waiter sitting at the bar whenever he wasn't "helping" customers. I guess maybe he was watching the front door, but we would see him fan himself with a menu, or just looking down (i guess at his phone). If he was doing something like putting silverware together or something it'd be understandable, but like i said we could see him sitting there. The final thing was we ordered egg yolk buns, all of our food came out fairly fast but i could see it sitting at the pick up window from the kitchen WAITING for the waiter to grab it and bring it to us. He mixed up our order of buns with another table. The other table ate our buns without questioning it, but when we told the waiter this wasn't what we ordered and he realized he mixed it up, he gave the buns he brought to us back to the other table. So that table got an extra order of buns for free and then we had to wait double the time to get our correct order. Food was tasty, but portions were small especially for the price. Really was looking forward to trying this place. We came in yesterday, Sunday the 29th around 5pm. The women behind the counter was very friendly and got us seated right away. There was only one other couple in the restaurant. We waited about 5 minutes and no server ever came to our table. Then a party for 3 got seated a few tables down from us. The server walked right past us went to their table, took their drink order and full order which took about another 5 minutes. Walked past us again and never acknowledged us and proceeded to put in the order. So we got up and left. The women at the front was the only one the ever acknowledged us and was confused as to why we were leaving. I tried to explain we were there for almost 10 minutes with no service or even being acknowledged. Im not sure if she understood us or not, but the server looked at me as I was explaining this is still didn't acknowledge what was going on. Went here for the soup dumplings. These are not traditional soup dumplings, as they add different ingredients to them. I would classify this place as an Asian fusion type of restaurant.
