I love slipping into Oak & Iron for a quick drink, and one of the best parts is that you can bring over tacos from Bad Ass Tacos--or really whatever you're eating--and enjoy them with your drink. They don't mind at all. On certain nights, they also serve some seriously high-end BBQ that's definitely worth checking out. The vibe is calm, cool and just a little speakeasy-ish. It's the kind of place where you can actually relax and have a conversation without screaming across the table. They also have a really fun trivia night, and the staff has always been attentive, friendly and completely chill. Bring a friend. Bring a group. Have some food and a couple of drinks. Just please don't tell too many other people about it. Because if I show up and can't get a seat, I'm sitting with you.

The lighting was carefully planned and is very effective in creating a special mood. And, what can be said about the wall of roses? It's tailor-made for snapping fun photos, that's for sure. The chef is sending out creative and Dee-Licious dishes from the kitchen. Yes, I know how to spell delicious, but it is worth adding the accented flair to stating the fact that this is a cut above many other dining establishments in the Conejo Valley. Dear Hubby and I shared Pappardelle Pasta and a Tuna Tartare appetizer. Both were excellent. One of our nieces ordered the taco platter. Wait till you see the photo. The only thing that was disappointing, menu-wise, was that bread wasn't included, so we ordered some as a side. Two little slices. I've forgotten the price, but I recall that it turned into sticker shock when we saw what was served. I'm tickled that they offer a nice array of zero proof cocktail options. Perfectly cooked ribbons of pasta with a hearty meat sauce and the Stracciatella topping sealed the deal for me on this pasta. We had a fabulous girls dinner from start to finish. The ambience at Selvin's is truly magical and we just love the decor and bar area. We had a cozy little booth to ourselves and the service was top-notch from start to finish. Extra kudos to Claudia for being a bubbly, lovely girls girl who was super attentive to us during our meal and made the night A+. Can't wait to come back soon.

The pastas are another strength. I do not like cream, and the server told me they could remove those ingredients, which gave me considerably more flexibility with the menu. The cocktails were creative and interesting, although almost too sweet for me. Service was friendly and efficient. The only real drawback is that the dining room feels cramped, so this is not the place to go if you need a lot of personal space. We don't dine out often, and I never write reviews on restaurants where we have eaten, but we were so impressed with Phil's that I had to write something. We stopped in for dinner a couple weeks ago based on a recommendation from some friends and ended up having one of the best restaurant experiences ever. The food was excellent, and we'll definitely be back again. But what was really impressive was the service. Our server, Carla, was great! She answered all of our questions about the food, and she knew all of the drinks, too. She made sure we had everything we needed and was very personable. She made my wife and I feel like we were part of the Phil's family even though it was only our first visit. Thank you, Carla, and everyone at Phil's, for the great job you did for us. We just arrived home from meeting some friends and enjoyed a delightful evening at Phil's. This was our first time there, but certainly not our last. The food was delicious and thoughtful. From the brussel sprout appetizers to the onion rings, the salmon and of course, beef stroganoff, and the wedge salad, everything was perfect and quite delectable. It is obvious that each dish as been well thought through and priced fairly. The staff was warm and friendly, and appeared to genuinely care that we enjoyed our food. For an outstanding dining experience, this place is a must-visit. My partner and I celebrated our anniversary here, and we were pleasantly surprised by the exceptional service we received. The place was packed, but I have to assume we got really lucky because we got seated right away at an open table near the front. Our server greeted us immediately and brought us waters for the table. We were overwhelmed initially by the menu options because everything sounded incredible. We asked our waitress what she recommended, and she said literally everything on the menu is amazing - nothing is bad and every dish is popular. So I was quite impressed to hear that. My friend and I decided to get the steak tartare, woodfire grilled octopus, fried gnocchi, and chicken liver pate. Every single dish was actually incredible. The chicken liver pate came with four slices of toast, some pickled vegetables and ground mustard. The pate was creamy, rich, slightly on the sweeter side, so it paired perfectly with the tang from the ground mustard & pickled vegetables. The woodfire grilled octopus was cooked perfectly. Seriously the best, freshest octopus I've ever had! It wasn't chewy or fishy at all. The texture was absolutely perfect. It was very easy to cut into and juicy. It was paired perfectly with the aïoli as well. The steak tartare was extremely fresh. One of the things that I hate about steak tartare at restaurants sometimes is it will start to look brown from the meat oxidizing so it doesn't always look as appetizing, but this tartare was still had that vibrant red color as if they had just cut the meat. Lastly, the fried gnocchi was amazing. It's the first time I've ever had a dish with fried gnocchi. They paired it with a cream sauce that was absolutely delicious. I wish I remembered what was in it, but it was so good. I wanted to drink that sauce lol. Love how the gnocchi was also perfectly seared, had no lumps, and basically melts in your mouth. Overall, loved the ambience of this place as well. It's very hip. trendy. Definitely a louder environment but perfect for a weekend night out to enjoy great food. I would recommend making reservations. I think my friend and I probably just got lucky because we went a little bit earlier on a Friday night. Also wanna mention all of the wait staff was amazing. Food was served very quickly and we had no issues with any of our orders. I seriously cannot wait to come back here and try every single thing on the menu!

My boyfriend ordered the chili stacker with grilled potatoes. He didn't choose the spiciest chili they have, but the one underneath it. I tried a bite and it was delicious! He really enjoyed it, and I would not be opposed to ordering it for myself in the future. I just have a tendency to like something sweet at breakfast time! We were very pleasantly surprised to see our bill at the end. Their prices are actually very reasonable. We sometimes go to a chain breakfast place which I won't name, and somehow spend almost double what we spent here. We appreciated how our waitress was quick to bring the bill and let us get out of there!

Found this place by accident! Was looking for a place to…read moregrab a quick lunch with my mom. She had a tuna melt with tater tots. She said it was really good not greasy, lots of tuna and warm throughout. Tater tots were hot and crispy. I had the Chinese chicken salad Chicken was moist and hot. Salad had lots of greens, green onions, carrots, won tons. Nice decor comfortable old produce labels as artwork Server was friendly When the bill came they show you 2 different prices one cash & the other credit card!
