Worse place to go to the guy yelled at us because we were at the wrong window, he seem like the cook or something. Don't come here worse customer service. Been here waiting for over half an hour.

One of the worst cheesesteaks I've had. Meat was so tough and chewy I couldn't even bite through it. Booooo meat is literally stuck in my teeth. Booooooooo they also gave us unsalted fries

Classic cheesesteak joint on the corner in a seedy neighborhood, gotta love Philly! Maybe if I didn't know any better, this place would receive more stars, but we're looking at is pretty average stuff here. Shaved ribeye isn't too thick and certainly not chopped. Therefore, NO MELT! Fail! Now maybe if the meat had a flavor that could stand-out on its own, we could allow this to pass, but this is only a step or two above boxed frozen crap from the supermarket. Not enough salt and just an average meaty taste. Some of the onions were cooked perfectly while some were nearly raw. The difference in textures was distracting and raw onion is not as good as cooked. Mayo was available in a self-serve condiment pump can and was absolutely disgusting. DO NOT use this mayo, it will ruin anything it touches. Free hot peppers always recommended. There are two windows for ordering, and you need to know which one to go to to order steaks or side orders. Luckily, this rookie rolled up to the correct window by accident, and was able to figure out the process by watching others make mistakes and then get corrected by all the pros who were there waiting for their steaks and fried foods near their respective windows. For a cheesesteak place that's open 24 hours, it's a nice location off the highway and not a bad option. Just not going to be one of my regular stops.

I've been to Philip's a few times and I've had different experiences but most were very positive. In fact, this is a Top 10 cheesesteak in the city of Philadelphia and by far my favorite slab cheesesteak. Sorry Steve's lovers. They need to be more consistent but when they're good, they're really good. (I rate Cheesesteaks all around Philadelphia on my web series "Cheesesteak Run" on YouTube. Foodie Life Mac is the page on YT and @foodielifemac on Ig)

I ordered through Uber eats on a Tuesday evening. The food came quickly and the order was correct. I waited about 30 minutes. The French fries were great! Everything anyone could ask for concerning French fries. They were fresh, crispy, big and hot. The cheesesteak however, was the worst cheesesteak I've ever had in Philly. I don't like that they don't chop up the steak or trim the fat. Also, the meat was a little stingy. I couldn't even taste the American cheese. I took about 4 bites and threw the rest away. The roll was the best part. Total for cheesesteak and cheese fries=$17.47. Not including tip or the delivery fee. Learn from a pro: don't order thru Uber eats or grubhub because they will charge you more than Philip's delivery fee, which is $1.50. Call them to order delivery. I probably won't order from here again.

Growing up on Philly cheesesteaks, I would give Philip's a solid 3 for cheesesteaks. They have parking, friendly staff, and are fast and efficient. RJ thought it was great, but he's from NY. The steak is too thick and chewy, and a little skimpy, and the whiz isn't my favorite on a cheesesteak.. It was still tasty though, However, both the cheese fries and the inside out pizza were banging, and bumps this up to a solid 4. The fries were fresh, hot and crispy, and a large portion smothered in the whiz, which I'm fine with for fries. We had to take the inside out pizza home but even heated up it was fantastic. Crispy on the outside with sauce and melted cheese on the inside. We were sad when that was gone!

I was surprised at how good this cheesesteak was because of the reviews. I ordered my steak and waited a short time for it which was nice. The steak was flavorful and fresh. The meat itself was not too fatty which I appreciated and the bread was soft. I'd return since it was yummy and close to home!!

Tasted as bad as it looks. Those are suppose to be fried onions. This had to be the worst cheese steak I ever had.

This place deserves no stars. This place use to be the only place in the city for cheese steaks. They should be ashamed of themselves putting out a product like this. I can not believe I am saying this I would steer clear of this place. Sad

We ordered two Philly cheesesteak and one chicken cheesesteak. We were asked if we wanted "fried onions" and well it the same as grilled onions and not like an onion ring, just FYI. The chicken did not have much flavor but adding the peppers they give you it adds some and my mom enjoyed it. The cheesesteak was good too but also the steak was a bit flavorless. The sandwich is big and you need to ask to be cut in half, they just give it to you whole. It gets busy and they only accept cash. They do have an ATM machine on site if needed. Parking is on the street and not bathroom that I saw. This would be a place I come back but I'll bring some salt and pepper with me.

If I had one complaint it's just that the prices there are a little expensive overall. This was the most expensive cheese steak that I've gotten so far during my trip. It came out to $21.33 for just the cheese steak. I would definitely come back here again for another cheese steak if I'm ever in Philadelphia.

John's Roast Pork is legendary in Philly - it's been around for decades - 96 years to be exact! I'd been there once before many years ago (couldn't remember anything about it) and thought it was time for a revisit. I got the large Roast Pork sandwich - you can see from the attached picture the 'preferred toppings' (Dad's Way) are: Mustard Raw onions Hot seeded pepper American cheese I had only the Mild Provolone cheese on mine - no mustard, raw onions or seeded pepper. I would have had cooked (caramelized) onions - but they had only raw...and American cheese was not a choice for me (I was raised on it). The pork is supposed to be 'slow roasted (7 hours) pork shoulder (pork butt)' - and it may very well be, but it reminds me of the meat that's carved off the large vertical rotisseries for gyros. It doesn't look that appealing - it's like a large sub sandwich. The pork was soft, tender and seasoned well - the roll was very good - John's had been getting its bread from Carangi Bakery. However, the bakery closed due to a fire so I'm not sure where the bread is from, unless it reopened. I finally satisfied my curiosity about John's and went to see what the sandwich was like. While it probably ranks as one of the better 'pork/steak' sandwiches in Philly, I just couldn't get excited about it.

Everything was carefully prepared and delicious. I mean the burgers were enjoyed and loved by two tweens. They loved the dip that came on the side and dipped fries and their burgers in it. The Mediterranean burger was spicy and jam packed with seasoning. As for the Philly cheesesteak, Listen!!!!! Get it. The meat was tender, hero was soft (I preferred more of a toast bun) but it was fresh, and the CHEESE stole the show. Why was the cheese so thick and just stringy?! I was in…read moreChester for a football game, but made some time to stop by both of the city's famous Cheesesteak stands. The Original Pat's King of Steaks is located in South Philly, specifically in the Passyunk Square neighborhood. It sits at the intersection of East Passyunk, South 9th, and Wharton. The building has many different signs and lights that will let you know that you are in the correct place. Since this is in the city, parking can be somewhat tricky. There are times I have had to circle around, or get whomever I was with to drop me off and have them come back. However, sometimes I have secured street parking not too far away. This will just depend on the time of day, and really the luck of the draw, if you are able to easily locate parking. This is an outdoor stand, meaning there is no inside to enter. You will order at the counter, and food is packaged to-go. However, there are some tables surrounding the building that you can dine at. They are all under the roof overhang, so you will be somewhat protected from the elements. On this day, it was not terribly busy. I really did not have to wait in any kind of line before being able to place my order. This was around 4:00 on a Saturday in September. First, I took some time to look over the menu posted near the sidewalk. There is also a helpful guide on "how to order a steak," for those that are unfamiliar. When it was my first time here, I actually found the humorous display very helpful. I placed my order for two classic Cheesesteak Wit, made with Cheez Whiz. When ordering, you specify if you want Wit (with onion) or Wit-Out (no onion). Given that I was wanting to try the most authentic sandwich I could, I opted for the onions and the traditional Cheez Whiz. My sandwiches only took a minute or so to be ready. As stated, it was not busy, and they are able to whip up these sandwiches rather quickly. I ended up taking my sandwiches to-go, and having them for meals the next few days. They reheat well, and have good flavor. I like having the onions on it for an added texture. Pricing is not terrible. Pat's is more expensive than Geno's by $2 for the same sandwich. My total was $36 after tax for the two sandwiches, making them $18 each. You definitely are paying for the experience and the novelty that is coming to this famous corner of Philadelphia. But, this price is not out of the ballpark of other places in the area. The sandwich is a decent size, and you can definitely get two meals out of it if you are eating it by yourself. So, all that considering, it is a fair value for what you pay. It seemed like most menu items were $20 or under. FYI, they take both cash and card. The staff are quick and efficient. However, it will not be the most friendly or pleasant experience, especially if you do not know how to order. I am not saying that the experience was poor by any means, but be aware that this is not Disney World and they will not be overly kind to you at the order window. Being from Pittsburgh, I had never had a true Philadelphia Cheesesteak sandwich until a few years ago when I visited for the first time. Since that trip, I typically make it a point to stop and get a few sandwiches to take back home with me. I enjoy coming to Pat's for the atmosphere, and the true taste of Philadelphia. I recommend giving it a try at least once, just to say you have had it. Plus, the sandwiches are pretty tasty, too. I will definitely be back here on future trips to South Philly.
