Cheesesteak and potato salad
Monica R.

The cheesesteak is outstanding! The beef is so tender, the cheese is so creamy and the bun is so soft. I added a side of potato salad. Good rewards in the app, also!

Fries with a side of cheese sauce

First time trying Philly Cold Cuts. Cheesesteaks were fiiiire. Chicken Caesar salad was good and the fries were delish. I hadn't seen fries that were cut the way they were. Order a side of cheese sauce for the fries! Took them to another level. Service was decent and the place is lil old and dingey inside but it worked. Seemed like most people took it to go. I will be back if I'm in the area.

You order at the register not at the tables. Download the rewards program for 20% off. We arrived n a Tuesday evening and ordered our food. Took roughly 30 mins to get our food. I enjoyed my food. Depending on the person, you either love the fries or you don't. I actually liked them, they are a mixture of steak and curly fries and nice and crispy. I got a 7" shorty Philly cheesesteak with cheese fries and cheesecake. The cheesecake was really good with a light lemon taste. However, they forgot my water, the cheese for our fries, and the cheesecake. Other than that, they were friendly.

I always get a Philly cheesesteak. They are not consistent. Sometimes they are good and sometimes it seems like the bread is stale. They have been a bit skimpy on filling the sandwich these days. Fries are ok but not wild about the cheese fries. All they do is cheez wiz on top, Restaurant is nice and clean but service is mediocre.

To go order. Ready fast. Delicious! Huge fresh fries. Yummmm.

Noms! My boyfriend and I have been meaning to try this spot for a while now ever since I heard about them on the "I Heart VB" podcast a few months back. If you haven't listened to that podcast, I highly recommend it. It's awesome to hear the origin stories from some of our local business owners. Friday night takeout was the night this week. We didn't go all out, just ordered two traditional cheesesteaks just how they come - on one we added grilled mushrooms and the other added mayo, lettuce and tomato. We also got a small cole slaw and cheese fries order. We used the website for our order which was quick and easy and headed out about 20 mins early for the quoted pickup time hoping it would be ready sooner. I think the computer orders give a standard 30 minute window for pickup bc our order was ready when we arrived. Inside is clean and neat with plenty of seating and a fountain drink area. They are observing the COVID protocols inside the store. These smelled so good I could barely make it home before tearing into them, I'm glad we are only about 5 minutes away! The cheese steaks were excellent, fresh and cheesy and delicious with a generous portion of chopped steak. Noms. The sub rolls were to die for, super yummy. My boyfriend is from New Jersey and has had quite a few "authentic" cheesesteaks in his life from living and traveling through Philly and said these were pretty close to perfect. He really enjoyed his. Mine was delicious and the real treat were those huge curled, thick French fries. Yummmm. As another reviewer noted, the cheese dip is like the kind you get on nachos at a baseball game. Delicious, but probably no real cheese in them, haha. The coleslaw was a pretty big portion (8 oz.) for $1.50 or so, and it was creamy and tangy (tasted like maybe some horseradish?) with a slight kick. We enjoyed it. Overall, this was a great experience, super quick food, orders were made correctly, food was fresh and yummy, and ordering and pick-up were a breeze. Philly Cold Cuts is going to be added into the rotation for quick cheat meal nights, especially when my boyfriend has his 12-year old daughter with him, I know she will love it.

Traditional cheesesteak with banana peppers and hot relish on the side. (I ate about half the fries before this pic)

As a gal who grew up in Philly, this place is solid for cheesesteaks. I always look forward to coming here when I visit my family who relocated to Virginia Beach! I've been to two of the locations for this place, and I find this one to make better, gooier cheesesteak and crispier fries. I can't believe I've never reviewed it! This time service was very slow... about 25 min from the time I placed my order to when my food arrived at the table. I got the traditional with fries. Fries were perfectly done - crispy on the outside and crumbly inside. The cheesesteak was great - cheese melted into the meat and the roll was like an authentic Philly sub.

Wow! It's been over two years since my original review of Philly Cold Cuts. I have now dined with them three times, second was probably a year ago. Nothing has really changed is the easiest way to sum up this update. The dining room had a clean appearance and tables wiped off. The one staff was friendly and immediately assisted me with my order and offered suggestions. My order the small Philly with provolone, fries and fountain drink. My card processed with no issues. The drink station is up front and they offer Pepsi products. The Mountain Dew was fizzy deliciousness. The order was out in less than 10 minutes. The fries have changed since my last visit. New ones are thick curly wedges. Everything was hot, but to me just above average. Their old fries are preferred. The Ambrosia bread was authentic. Overall good meal, ate every bite. For whatever reason I like their original location off Great Neck best. The taste seem more agreeable to me. I may not rush back, but I'm not disappointed either.

I had today off, and while I was running errands I figured I'd catch a bit from one of the spots on…read moremy list that I wanted to try. This one was the closest, so I parked and went up to order a sandwich. The place is cute inside, bunch of Eagles memorabilia lining the walls, the big open counter you can see the kitchen through. Good vibes, I liked it. I had looked on their menu before to see what sounded best, and I decided on a mushroom and cheese along with a regular hot dog. The man at the counter explained my topping options. So, I got onions, ketchup, and mustard for the dog, and sweet peppers, mayo, mustard, and grilled onions for my sandwich. He wrote it down, and said I'd pay once my order was called. It was fairly quick despite seeming busy with the start of a lunch rush. I paid, and went to my car for a quick bite before wrapping and eating the rest at home. First impressions, it was hot but not burn your tongue hot. The sandwich was also huge, and the hotdog a decent size. The hot dog was split in half and grilled on both sides, which was a nice texture enhancer. Could've used a little more condiments, I'm a condiment person, but it was a solid dog. Buns were toasted a little and they flattened out a bit, which was nice. It was a good dog to bun ratio. As for the sandwich, I was super excited for it. The bread is nice, spongey, not crisp. The meat was fine, good quality and chopped nice. It was cooked, a little dry but greasy. Cheese was great. Loved the melt and flavor. Sweet peppers were almost like pickles, which added a good balance. Mushrooms were sliced so thin it blended really nicely into the meat. Onions added more savory to the meat. The mayo and mustard made it a bit more moist. Overall, it was a really great, greasy, messy lunch. They did give me a bunch of napkins which helped a lot. I can see myself coming back again, and most definitely will. If you haven't tried this place I would recommend putting it on your list, it's a great spot!

A little hole in the wall, but kind people and good food. It was our first time here, my dad and I,…read moreso we had a few questions about the menu. The woman at the counter was very helpful and nice, explaining things to us. He decided on a cheesesteak and I got a veggie, and we got fries to split between us. Food came to us in roughly 15 minutes. In the meantime we sat and drank our teas. He got it unsweetened, while I got the sweet. Their tea is actually quite nice, although it is sweet, it's not like super sweet, you can taste the black tea on the back of your throat at the end a little. As far as food goes, it was pretty good. I like the fact that there were different types of cheeses on the veggie, and you could choose between it being hot or cold, I got cold. The bread is squishy and soft, which can be nice, but I wanted a more sturdier bread. Next time, I'll ask for it to be toasted. I'm also a person who likes mayo and mustard on it, but instead I just had their oil and vinegar, which I didn't enjoy as much. It was a little drippy because of it, but it didn't get soggy, and didn't make too much of a mess. Their fries were really good though. Nicely seasoned, and had a good crisp to them on the outside while the inside was soft. I ate them without ketchup, but they do have some on the tables if you like them like that. My dad really enjoyed his cheesesteak, and after having a bite, I can see why. The meat is tender and flavorful, nicely shredded so it just melts in your mouth. Nothing chewy about it. One of the best cheesesteaks I've ever had, even though it was only my second time. He also thought the bread could be more sturdy, but other than that it was great! Our total for everything was a little over $20 including tip. Definitely will be back to try more sometime!

I ordered the Sunrise Burger, subbing hot honey for the mayo and oh-mah-gawsh that was an excellent decision. (The burgers are a little on the smaller side, but I found it to be the perfect size.) I told my husband that the onion rings were some of the best I've ever had. Kyle was our server, and he was incredible--attentive despite being a little overwhelmed. So when one of the Homies told me about this place I was all in because - burgers - what's not to love. Barrel 17 did not disappoint; when i got there i realized quickly i was the last to know because it was busy. We had about a 10 minute wait to be seated but that was cut short by option to sit at the bar. The bartender was working like she had six arms. It was non stop; attentive, taking orders, making drinks, checking back with others, she was truly impressive. The places was jumping; it was busy, casual and didn't slow down from the time we arrived until we left. Parking is challenging, there's a small lot beside the restaurant and a small lot behind it so if you can car pool you'll benefit yourselves. Now on to the star of the show - the food! The only knock I had was portion size. In a big guy with an even bigger appetite and when i left there i could've eaten my whole meal over again lol. But that's also because it was delicious. I got the mac n cheese starter, the Beast Burger, tater tots , and the biggest slice of chocolate cake I've ever had. Literally the biggest slice of cake ever- twice the size of my burger. Everything was delicious, from start to finish and if i were a person that had a normal appetite i would've left full like my friends did. Will definitely be back!

Since then, my family and I have been back a few times. The concept is creative, and the quality is definitely there. The lumpia is fresh, crispy, and well-made, and I appreciate the variety they offer. It's a fun way to experience different flavor combinations and put a unique spin on a Filipino classic. That said, while I enjoy many of the specialty flavors, I still find myself preferring traditional lumpia. That's more a matter of personal taste than a criticism of the food itself. The fusion flavors are good and worth trying, especially if you're looking for something different. The staff has always been friendly, and the overall experience has been positive every time we've visited. If you're a lumpia fan, it's definitely worth checking out.
