    Cheesesteak and potato salad
    Monica R.

The cheesesteak is outstanding! The beef is so tender, the cheese is so creamy and the bun is so soft. I added a side of potato salad. Good rewards in the app, also!

First time trying Philly Cold Cuts. Cheesesteaks were fiiiire. Chicken Caesar salad was good and the fries were delish. I hadn't seen fries that were cut the way they were. Order a side of cheese sauce for the fries! Took them to another level. Service was decent and the place is lil old and dingey inside but it worked. Seemed like most people took it to go. I will be back if I'm in the area.

You order at the register not at the tables. Download the rewards program for 20% off. We arrived n a Tuesday evening and ordered our food. Took roughly 30 mins to get our food. I enjoyed my food. Depending on the person, you either love the fries or you don't. I actually liked them, they are a mixture of steak and curly fries and nice and crispy. I got a 7" shorty Philly cheesesteak with cheese fries and cheesecake. The cheesecake was really good with a light lemon taste. However, they forgot my water, the cheese for our fries, and the cheesecake. Other than that, they were friendly.

I always get a Philly cheesesteak. They are not consistent. Sometimes they are good and sometimes it seems like the bread is stale. They have been a bit skimpy on filling the sandwich these days. Fries are ok but not wild about the cheese fries. All they do is cheez wiz on top, Restaurant is nice and clean but service is mediocre.

To go order. Ready fast. Delicious! Huge fresh fries. Yummmm.

Noms! My boyfriend and I have been meaning to try this spot for a while now ever since I heard about them on the "I Heart VB" podcast a few months back. If you haven't listened to that podcast, I highly recommend it. It's awesome to hear the origin stories from some of our local business owners. Friday night takeout was the night this week. We didn't go all out, just ordered two traditional cheesesteaks just how they come - on one we added grilled mushrooms and the other added mayo, lettuce and tomato. We also got a small cole slaw and cheese fries order. We used the website for our order which was quick and easy and headed out about 20 mins early for the quoted pickup time hoping it would be ready sooner. I think the computer orders give a standard 30 minute window for pickup bc our order was ready when we arrived. Inside is clean and neat with plenty of seating and a fountain drink area. They are observing the COVID protocols inside the store. These smelled so good I could barely make it home before tearing into them, I'm glad we are only about 5 minutes away! The cheese steaks were excellent, fresh and cheesy and delicious with a generous portion of chopped steak. Noms. The sub rolls were to die for, super yummy. My boyfriend is from New Jersey and has had quite a few "authentic" cheesesteaks in his life from living and traveling through Philly and said these were pretty close to perfect. He really enjoyed his. Mine was delicious and the real treat were those huge curled, thick French fries. Yummmm. As another reviewer noted, the cheese dip is like the kind you get on nachos at a baseball game. Delicious, but probably no real cheese in them, haha. The coleslaw was a pretty big portion (8 oz.) for $1.50 or so, and it was creamy and tangy (tasted like maybe some horseradish?) with a slight kick. We enjoyed it. Overall, this was a great experience, super quick food, orders were made correctly, food was fresh and yummy, and ordering and pick-up were a breeze. Philly Cold Cuts is going to be added into the rotation for quick cheat meal nights, especially when my boyfriend has his 12-year old daughter with him, I know she will love it.

Wow! It's been over two years since my original review of Philly Cold Cuts. I have now dined with them three times, second was probably a year ago. Nothing has really changed is the easiest way to sum up this update. The dining room had a clean appearance and tables wiped off. The one staff was friendly and immediately assisted me with my order and offered suggestions. My order the small Philly with provolone, fries and fountain drink. My card processed with no issues. The drink station is up front and they offer Pepsi products. The Mountain Dew was fizzy deliciousness. The order was out in less than 10 minutes. The fries have changed since my last visit. New ones are thick curly wedges. Everything was hot, but to me just above average. Their old fries are preferred. The Ambrosia bread was authentic. Overall good meal, ate every bite. For whatever reason I like their original location off Great Neck best. The taste seem more agreeable to me. I may not rush back, but I'm not disappointed either.

Traditional cheesesteak with banana peppers and hot relish on the side. (I ate about half the fries before this pic)

As a gal who grew up in Philly, this place is solid for cheesesteaks. I always look forward to coming here when I visit my family who relocated to Virginia Beach! I've been to two of the locations for this place, and I find this one to make better, gooier cheesesteak and crispier fries. I can't believe I've never reviewed it! This time service was very slow... about 25 min from the time I placed my order to when my food arrived at the table. I got the traditional with fries. Fries were perfectly done - crispy on the outside and crumbly inside. The cheesesteak was great - cheese melted into the meat and the roll was like an authentic Philly sub.

The outside of the business isn't hard to find. The large signage and being located along a curve in the shopping center helps make it stand out and easier to find. You can see the available outdoor seating there too. It wasn't too busy either for around 4:20 pm on a weekday. My mom came with me on this visit. We had found a gift card for here, so that's what brought us here. Once you come inside, the first thing I noticed is that to the left was primarily a shopping area for stuff, and the restaurant is on the right side of the business. We were immediately greeted at the entrance and went to a table in the dining area. Shortly after, our server Olivia came to the table to introduce herself and ask us what we wanted to drink. In this case, both of us just had water, though I had mine with lemon in it. After the drinks came, she asked if we were ready to order, but we weren't quite ready since it was the first time here for us. After several minutes passed, she came back and we were finally ready to order. My mom ordered the Egg Salad Sandwich and I ordered the Chipotle Chicken Panini. Both sandwiches came with their housemade chips. After about ten minutes or so, the food came out to the table. Both food items looked really good. The Chipotle Chicken Panini was hot and flavorful. It did pack some spice, but not too much. The homemade chips were good and crispy too, just the way I like them. My mom really liked the Egg Salad Sandwich and the chips too. Overall, this was a very good visit. The food and service were great. When it came time to pay, the gift card didn't work and they were not able to honor it. Apparently the gift card was pretty old. The manager came and checked it out too and couldn't make it work either. She said that I would be contacted afterwards, but I never did hear anything back about it. They are locally owned, so it was likely something they couldn't do. Regardless, I do plan to come back in the future as the food was really good, though not too much since I don't want to over-carb myself too much. If you're looking for a local non-chain sandwich place, this place is worth checking out.

Eventually, one server told me someone would be right with me, but no one showed up for another five minutes. I just sat there awkwardly waiting. Over all experience was a flop.

I ordered the Williamsburg Bagel, which consisted of lox, plain cream cheese, tomato, capers, and red onion. I originally wanted it on an Everything bagel, but since they were out, I went with a Garlic bagel instead. Even though it was a tad bit crowded, my sandwich was ready in about 5 mins. I've had the Williamsburg Bagel before so I was excited to enjoy it again but I wasn't a big fan of the thick-cut red onions they added on there, and I actually love onions! Unfortunately, I ended up taking most of them off. I also wish it had more cream cheese, the thin layer on the bottom just wasn't enough for me. That said, the bagel itself was fresh and overall, the sandwich tasted good. At almost $20, it did feel a little pricey for a bagel sandwich, but I enjoyed it. I'd definitely come back to try other options. The interior is full of Brooklyn pictures, which I love! Definitely check them out if you're in the area!

My husband and a friend came here on a Thursday morning to order 6 items and they were gone for almost an hour (it was a 10 minute drive from where we stayed). They come back with a bag of "bagels" (if that's what you want to call them) drenched in ketchup. Our orders were extremely simple: BEC w/PK on a plain bagel Egg and cheese on a croissant BEC w/PK on an asiago bagel Taylored Ham, egg & cheese on a bagel Toasted everything bagel with lox & cream cheese Here is everything that went wrong: 1. The bagel store didn't offer BACON, so we ended up substituting for sausage. The sausage patty was probably the size of my kid's palm- that's how small it was. The eggs were overcooked and had no taste, but don't worry, they'll make sure to smother the entire bagel with ketchup to make up for it. 2. TOASTED bagel with lox & cream cheese- bagel was not toasted, and there wasn't any lox available. 3. Egg & cheese on a croissant- the place didn't have any croissants... so had to substitute this for a roll 4. It was the chef's second day in the kitchen. Bagels alone wasn't great quality..it was edible enough, but extremely chewy and stiff, especially after taking so long to prepare the orders and with two people working in a place that is seemingly popular with the Yelp Community, the amount of time it took this order to be ready was a little ridiculous. I ordered the same thing back home the following day and it took less time to make here in NJ than it did here on a non-busy day with just my husband and friend as their sole customer at the time.

Although we sat outside (because we were dining with a dog), we never had to wait too long for the waitress to check on us. Every 5-10 minutes, she dropped by to make sure things were going well and to refill our coffee. Since The Egg Bistro has a HUGE breakfast menu, I'm sure everyone should be able to find something that they will/might enjoy. For my dining pleasure, I tried something new and went with the Bennie & the Grits. This dish piqued my interest because I never heard of grits cakes in the four decades of living on this planet. For about 20 bucks, the dish included three fried grit cakes with ground sausage, grilled shrimp, more sausage, two poached eggs and a side. Although the serving size was HUGE, I was not a bit fan of the dish. Note, I didn't think the dish was prepared badly, I just didn't get the concept of the fried grits (this from a grits lover); however, everything else with the dish was pretty good.
