Bacon cheesesteak
Amaryllis K.

My friends and I were looking for something to eat for dinner after a 5 hour drive and we stumbled upon this place. We came at the right time since it wasn't busy and we got our food quick, about 10 minutes. Best decision ever! Their cheesesteaks were delicious & it definitely filled us up! I got the 7-inch mushroom & pepper cheesesteak w/ a large order of ranch fries. I wish they added a bit more cheese on my cheesesteak, but it had lots of meat & it was still delish. Their ranch fries were fresh, crispy, & seasoned well (they use dry ranch seasoning btw).

Inside of shop - neat, clean, tidy; lots of seating, full bar, draft brews, extensive menu, SUPER REASONABLE PRICES, big portions

Thought I'd update my previous (original) review for this place - STILL A 5 STAR. Tried and true Philly Cheesesteaks. No nonsense just delicious, fresh, made-to-order down-home truly authentic cheesesteaks and all variations thwreof. Good value for what you get, subs packed with loads of meat and cheese. No skimping here. Great, friendly and prompt service from a family-run business. Restaurant itself has decent amount of seating, very clean and well maintained. Great for casual dining for large parties. We've never come here for the bar atmosphere but they do have an impressive array of tapped brews. Almost like a hidden gem - every time we've come, we've always gotten a table and there's never been a wait to order (order and pay at the counter, they'll bring your order out when it's ready). But they do have steady business coming in the door. I've posted more photos with this review update including the menu signboard and a pic of our HUGE Philly Cheesesteak so have a look.

No matter what time of day you call to order, your food will be ready within 15 min. Food is amazing. Best out here in Corolla. Staff is great too. Absolutely go see them if you're in town!

"REVIEW IS OF CHEESE FRIES ONLY" I have frequented here at least 2 or 3 times a week for the last 12 years and they are by far the best cheese fries you will find anywhere! I am only reviewing the cheese fries because the last time I had a Sub from here was 6 or 7 years ago. My kids look forward to coming here every year keep up the consistency and thank you!

Small local spot with solid beer selection and good food options. Certainly worth a stop!

I'm so glad this place continued to stay open throughout Covid. I come to Corolla every year and look forward to getting a Cheesesteak at Philly Steak Subs. The staff are nice (and wearing masks). The establishment is clean. And the food is so good! I've had cheesesteaks at other places where you get more bread than meat; not this place! They stuff the sandwiches full of meat so I feel my money is well spent. They also have great crispy fries and chicken wings as well! Thanks for staying open and serving up delicious food!

Stopped in while visiting the beach and really enjoyed the food. The cheeseburger was hot, flavorful, and filling. The onion rings were alright but the steak and cheese sub was amazing. We ordered the steak and cheese with onions, peppers, and mushrooms and were shocked that the sandwich melted in our mouths with every bite. Such a great find next to touristy shops so there's plenty to do and see once you are in the shopping plaza!

large ranch fries

If I could give this place more than five stars I would. I have been here about ten times and have never been disappointed. I always recommend it to anyone I know that comes to Corolla. First of all, their staff is always extremely friendly and helpful whenever I visit. There is also very rarely much of a wait time but obviously that changes a little due to busyness. Second, their food is absolutely amazing. Their cheesesteaks are very very delicious. I used to get one every time I went, specifically the Ranch Cheesesteak. I decided to switch things up recently and have been ordering a cold Turkey and Cheese Hoagie. The turkey is sliced very thin and piled onto the sandwich. It's the best turkey sandwich I have ever had from anywhere. I also always get Ranch Fries when I go, they are fries seasoned with ranch seasoning and are so good. I cannot say enough good things about this place. Whether you're looking for a cheesesteak or a deli sandwich this is the spot you should go to.

Good tasting cheesesteaks, but make sure you have a restroom near by about 30 min after eating!

Food was good however, no air conditioning inside, lots of flies and the tables were pretty dirty. However, they do serve Amoroso rolls!

Food was good, but nothing special to set it apart from other steak & cheese. Would eat there again, but would try other places first.

tl;dr: stick with a chicken dish and you will be very happy…read more Interesting little place, connected to a gas station. As you walk in you note the feel of it being a converted diner made to look like a country place. You grab your own menu, seat yourself, and walk up to the bar/register when ready to order. If the first time, you need a minute to get your bearings. Food ordered (3% fee is not using the cash "discount" FYI, pretty common around here and absurd given these OBX prices). Drinks are self serve. Some coke products and excellent tea. This was the end of breakfast around 10:30/11, so it was empty. Service was pretty quick. (they bring it to the table). I thought the breakfast pricing was fair. Shrimp and grits for $12, etc. Especially for the portion sizes. Two things I didn't care for. -The ceilling tiles were crazy dirty and stained and the flor light bulbs were uncovered. -The shrimp and grits needs a re-do. It's huge, with a base of grits, ladels of bacon gravy, and about 5 shrimp and cheddar cheese. It's more like a shrimp, grits, gravy, cheese casserole. I would have much rather had a base of grits, the gravy scooped in the middle with shrimp stuck in it, and topped with cheese. Even with all that you'd think there would be flavor. It was kind of bland minus the occasionally greasy/burnt bacon piece. Also, the shrimp were flavorful but over-cooked and tail on, which is traditional--but in the casserole were a pain in the butt to get the tail off/cut. I know they can do good flavors and plates. My spouse's chicken biscut...omg the hand-breaded chicken was fantastic! My son's baked apples were to die for. You Philly visitors will be happy to see scrapples on the menu - yuck. All in, I would repeat and stick to chicken and the chicken coop.
