While vacationing we went to one of the local wild horse tours in Corolla, stopped by for a bite to eat. Food did not disappoint one bit! We all got steak sandwiches made to our own liking. Great atmosphere and great service! read more

Amazing subs and the cheesesteak egg rolls were off the charts. This was our first vacation to the outer banks. Since it was off season things closed early or weren't open during the week so we ate here 3 times. The service was great each time and the food was great. BEWARE they are serious about keeping the restaurant cool. So much so there is a sign on the door and a woman who monitored door openings. She walked in between my husband and I and closed the door and mumbled about keeping the door closed. I had to say excuse me just for her to release the door and get out of the way. This is the best Philly cheesesteak I have ever had. Super thinly sliced meat grilled perfectly with whatever toppings you like. The perfect amount of cheese to hold it together, soft fresh bread... It's all so perfect together. The staff was all very kind and friendly, it takes a few minutes for the food to get out but only because it is all made fresh as orders come in. The onion rings are great too, very crispy, crunchy batter coating which always makes a great onion ring in my opinion. I highly recommend stopping by and I plan to go again before my visit here is over! read more

I've gotta mirror the other comments about the service here, the asian guy taking orders does NOT give you the warm & fuzzy. I didn't think you could use fewer words when working a customer service job. Nothing more than a few grunts and a complete lack of eye contact. The regular philly sub with lettuce/tomato/onion was decent, but it's really not that hard to cook these things. They have the right ingredients and use a good ratio of meat/bread/veggies, but I couldn't get over the dude working the counter. Go around the corner to the Lighthouse Deli and you'll get a much better sandwich. read more

As a Philly native, these cheesesteaks were amazing! It's all about the rolls! The fries were really good too. We ordered take out right at 7:45 on a Wednesday when they close at 8. It was ready in five minutes, which worked perfectly because we just finished a wild horse your and just picked it up on the way back. Yum! read more

Growing up in Philadelphia, I am very wary of any place that has Philly or cheese steak in its name. This place is surprisingly good. Very close to a traditional Philly cheese steak and much more authentic that any number of joints much closer to the homeland. Keep up the good work, you guys are much better cheese steak ambassadors than thousands of others on the eastern seaboard and the fact you are located on the shore makes it that much better. read more

This place is cooked to order. Not fast food. And you can tell. You can tell by the taste and the wait. This is an above average steak and cheese place. It is especially good hidden up route 12 in Corolla. Steak and cheese restaurants so far away from civilization can make me nervous. But this place delivers. read more

Philly Steak Subs is the real deal. Having lived outside Philadelphia for 20 + years, I can say this place could hold its own against any cheesesteak shop in the Philly area. The cheesesteaks are very authentic. They even use Amorosso rolls. The server was very courteous and friendly. He was also very helpful in ensuring our very large order, 8 cheesesteaks and fries, was correct. This was the best cheesesteak I've had since moving away from Philadelphia many years ago. Best cheesesteaks any where, not just the Outer Banks. I usually get the chicken philly with white cheese and onions. I have eaten many cheesesteaks in Philadelphia and can honestly say that these cheesesteaks are better than those served in Philadelphia. Pros: The bread makes the sandwich. It is the authentic philly cheesesteak bread just like Philadephia. It holds up well even when taken as take-out and not eaten for 20 minutes or so. The sandwich is huge. Even the small size is more than one person usually eats. The mixture of cheese, chicken and onions is authentic. They are so well integrated that is it like one ingredient. Every bite is the perfect blend of meat, onions, cheese, and bread. The chicken is perfectly spiced and cooked. You will savor ever bite and will be back day after day. The fries are the best any where on the Outer Banks. If you like fries, but not cheesesteaks, come for the fries. The fries are crunchy, yet soft on the inside. The onion rings are delicious. They are big and sweet. They know how to cook onion rings perfectly. One of the few places open in the off-season. Cons: I wish the hours were longer during the off-season. But I will not complain as I understand that the business is not as busy during the off-season. This is really a very minor con. read more
