A little advise. So we don't have to Wait 20 minutes for a single sandwich, you should have a stack of cooked meat, a stack of each, onions, green peppers and mushrooms. Then when someone orders a philly you just need to mix the already cooked meat and sautéed veggies as requested. Come on pull your head out and see daylight. Lately I have had a craving for a Philly Cheesesteak, but there is no real great place in Sacramento to get one. I flew out to San Diego for work and tried my luck at finding a place that makes Philly Cheesesteaks. Yelp recommended Philly Steak Sub as it is within walking distance from my hotel. Upon walking in I was greeted by a friendly man. We had conversations about what I do for work and how happy I was to be eating a cheesesteak. I ordered the regular Philly cheesesteak and it was fantastic. Cooked perfectly, seasoned perfectly and big enough that I am having the other half for dinner . Huge attitude problem. My wife has a heart condition so I asked to swap the caffeine/carbonated soda drinks for a Gatorade... (After ordering) Most places have lemonade, you know? His response? BOTTLES ARE EXPENSIVE YO.... ... NO they're not. A small drink is $1.49 and a Gatorade at grocery is $0.50c to $99c. It's not a big deal, but now my wife is drinking water -- she PAID for water...??? I gave a 15% tip during card payment. That's $3.3... so I pay $1.49 for a water, basically, $3.3 for a tip, and this guy cannot let her get a Gatorade instead? FOR REAL? Bro, you just lost business and recommendations for life. Over a Gatorade. WISH I could take back the tip. Trust the reviews that say bad service. The counter tops are sticky, there is no bathroom and just skip this place. The food? i don't know, on par with a Vons Philly steak. Did not taste that fresh or anything unique.. Went in and ordered a 10 inch philly cheese steak with Grilled onions and I ate the first half and tasted like so many onions I took out the onions on the half half of the sandwich and it looked like half an onion. Never had a cheese steak like this ever I will not be coming back to this establishment. My wife ordered a 6 inch turkey with the works and it was so salty she just threw it away. I remember going to the old philly spit at this location when I was a kid so I finally gave it a try for old times sake. I ordered the philly cheese stake with the works. TBH, it was below average. I've had better phillys at pizza shops. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't at the standard I would expect a philly shop to be. They also had way to much onion in my sandwich and I'm a guy that loves onions but it was a little too much. The service was average as well. Overall I give them a 3 star rating. read more

We have been going to this place for years, before they expanded and gave the ability to dine in. Food is always fresh and staff is always friendly. We drive about 20 minutes just to get here but it's worth it. The meat is tender and seasoned, nice steak cut fries. I was hesitant because of previous disappointments from other sammich shops, but what the heck, let's try it. We did the take-out thing and I ordered The Hogi (w/ extra meat & cheese). It did not disappoint! It was a MASSIVE, well-crafted, absolutely delicious sammich. Saved half for lunch today and can't wait to dig in. Right off the bat, best Philly in El Cajon and possibly San Diego. They use great meat and fresh veggies that aren't raw or overbearing in quantity, perfect amount of cheese (it doesn't feel like you're eating a grilled cheese w/ meat n veg). This place is small and fills up real quick. It takes so long to get your food (probably why it's so good though), it almost feels like you could have a panic attack from being claustrophobic. This place is F*ing the worst for parking. In fact there is only like six spots in their lot, and it's only one way. Very hard to get in and out of. Original philly chesse steaks are extremely hard to located in San Diego county. This sandwich spot is located in El Cajon close to the El Cajon court house. The parking is convenient. This location is clean inside and outside. The staff offers average service. The steak subs are pricey considering their bread to meat ratio is 3:1. 1 being no meat. Also there is definitely more green peppers and onions then meat as well. No bueno. The menu does offer a variety of steak subs and hoagies. The bread was very soft and toasted to perfection. The beef sirloin was seasoned well and cooked to perfection. There just wasn't enough meat!!! Average place. May return in the future, if I'm in the area. read more

On another note, when I was telling my boyfriend where I ate, he said he knew the owner, Ronnie. They went to Valhalla High School with the owner, Ron. According to my boyfriend, he was a big bully in high school. I see another reviewer questioning whether this place was LGBQTIA friendly based solely on a feeling he had. That sentiment is supported by the way my boyfriend recalls the owner freely using homophobic slurs in high school. First time my wife Kayla and I tried this place, took a little bit of time to get our food, but during these times it's 100% understandable. So we get home, about a 15 minute drive and one small mistake was done to our order. I walked in and was the only customer so I figured my order would be quick and I'd be out. I saw 2 employees behind the counter looking at images or something on a cell phone. One of the 2 looked up and at me but continued to be entertained by whatever they were looking at on the cell phone. I knew what I wanted to order and stood there patiently for a few moments. Poor customer service. I showed up early to my court appt. I wanted to find a place to have lunch afterwards so I drove around to look. I had my bike with me attached to my bike rack on my trunk. I was really scared to leave it alone. I asked the manager if I could pre-pay for my food and leave my car parked there and come back after traffic court for lunch. He said "no, parking space is limited. You can leave your bike in here and park somewhere else." There's no way I'm leaving my bike with a stranger. I understand his reasons, but he could have been kind and accommodating and he blatantly chose not to be. For that alone I will take my business elsewhere. Not to mention the entrance to parking there was very narrow, people were yelling and honking at each other and I almost wrecked just trying to leave. It was a very awful atmosphere altogether. I've watched this place grow from a small corner of the mini strip mall to expand to take over the whole building. There's good reason this place is always busy and doing a robust take out business, the food is excellent. I've never had their cold sandwich's, their cheesesteak is so good it's my go to each time.
