I wasn't complaining looking at Rocky! The bread was soft. The meat was thinly cut, flavorful, and melted in your mouth. I ordered my grilled onions on the side and you can also opt to have grilled mushrooms. Overall, it was good. I wasn't too crazy about their fries. CMD ordered both plain and one with cheese on top. I had asked for cheese on half since my brothers girlfriend and I were sharing and she doesn't eat cheese. When I saw that the plain steak sandwich is almost $6, the cheesesteak is almost $7 and that the one with everything is $8.33 with tax, I remembered: it's because it's a tad on the pricey side that I hadn't come back here. My previous review gave the burger 4 stars because it was great. This review gives the cheesesteak-with-everything 3 stars because it's not so much. The meat was a little bland, and had only a passing hint of pepper in it. If it wasn't for the jalapenos, malt vinegar, and seasoning I slathered on it, I would have quickly gotten tired of it. Now having eaten at Geno's Cheesesteaks & Jim's Cheesesteak both in Philadelphia I can attest that the subs taste as good as they do in philly. The place is small and can get busy. I usually grab a sandwich and walk down it off at the Best Buy in the same shopping center. It should be noted that they have there bread shipped in which is the key to an authentic cheesesteak. I had never heard of such a place but apparently there are numerous spots in LA county. It is rare for me to order Cheese steaks and my only experience has been with either Subway or Steak Escape. I've tried the traditional cheese steak and the pizza steak, both which are the best steak sandwiches I've ever had to date HANDS DOWN! The fries are hand cut and have a delicious home style taste to them. I am by no means, shape or form, a philly fan but I was fascinated by the decor from the city and state of brotherly love. There is no denying the cheesesteaks this place makes. I personally think the cheesesteaks from this place taste better than the other Philly's best "down the road" (south on Lakewood) in Long Beach. This place was recommended to me from a Philly native so you know the taste is authentic. They also stock tastykakes, which is exclusively an east-coast pastry treat (not sold anywhere else as far as I know). They also stock Hank's-brand root beers which are made with real cane sugar, for that authentic old-tyme nostalgic flavor. The place is sort of small and lunchtime does get pretty crowded. Some may think that the cheesesteaks here are expensive, but they really aren't when you compare them to other cheesesteak places closer to the south bay (west). The price is a little on the high side, but these things are in high demand so the laws of supply and demand come into play. The best part about coming to this Philly's best is the neighborhood. If you're a guy and you come during daylight hours, you're almost guaranteed to see attractive womens. read more

No, its not "authentic", but its still a damn good cheese steak. The sign says the use fresh Amorosa rolls, a Philly bread company. I imagine they must maintain a regular and uncompromising supply because one day I went in, they were offering free vouchers for sandwiches since they were actually OUT OF BREAD. So I eventually came back and got my FREE cheese steak. Which was 100% on spot. Optional grilled onions, and green onions. Side bar of sweet peppers and pickles. Even malt vinegar for your fries (Ocean City, MD style... sorta) and BEST OF ALL, a can of Old Bay seasoning on every table! Horrible service!! My order was wrong and I called to talk to someone about it. The man who answered the phone told me that I was wrong and that I needed to drive all the way back to the store and give the food back to him. He also told me just to eat and that what i had received in its place was not spicy. I asked to speak to the manager and he told me the manager wasn't there. This Was the most unfriendly conversation I have ever had. Being told no after I paid money for food I waited almost an hour for is so unacceptable. Food: Tried the cheessesteaks a couple of times and I have to say they are delicious. I don't think there's anywhere else around Downey that I can go to for such juicy sandwiches. It's freshly made in front of you with different options to add in some mushrooms or maybe bell peppers. The down side is that these sandwiches are bit on the pricey side, but they are running deal for Hoagie Cheesesteak for 5$, which is pretty much a cheesesteak with tomato and lettuce. Service: Everything is plain and simple. Order what you want and made on the go. Presentation: Placed in quite a busy plaza, this joint looks very reminiscent of the older times. I get a craving for a good cheesesteak sandwich every once in a while & I always choose to come here to satisfy it. They have hot & cold sandwiches (which I haven't tried because I can't get myself to order anything else other than the delicious cheesesteak sandwich) - it all honestly looks good. They have a kids menu, sides like fries, onion rings, & cheesesteak fries which are delicious! The walls are covered with Philly memorabilia from their sports teams to their most famous icons. I love looking around it all! They have a little station near the drinks to get pickles or jalapenos for your sandwich - yum! They have two tvs too, which are always tuned to ESPN - but I don't mind because I usually go with my boyfriend & that's all he watches anyways! I ordered through doordash at 8:40pm i live literally around the corner on lakewood and stewart and grey literally one minute away i was busy working from home so i ordered and DoorDash contacted me that my driver got there at 8:57pm and then canceled my order because they told the driver that they were closed, so i thought thats weird let me give them a call so i called a young man answered and i just tried to get some info i wsnt too happy about it so i figured i would just call the manager in the morning because to tell people they are closed is ridiculous right, so then i figured screw it im really hungry so i called at around 9:18 and asked the same young man who answered the first time if i could just place a phone order im across the street i could be there in 1 minute he said "no sorry sir we are closed" i responded with im across the street you guys close in 10 more minutes why cant you take my order he said he had to be out by a certain time and is no longer taking customers because they do not get paid past their initial clock out time. Either this company sucks and doesnt pay their employees or this guys is a ridiculous liar im sure hes just a liar, he also said "the grill is clean i will not be making your cheesesteak because it takes about five minutes to make" I then explained to him i actually am a Manager for jersey Mikes and that there is no reason too take five minutes on a 7" cheesesteak and if it does its no wonder jersey mikes is taking over. The young man literally hung up on me after i explained that to him he hung up! What kind of employee or even worse if he was the night lead hangs up on a customer that is just so ridiculous couldnt believe it honestly, he refused to give me his name which is not a problem, so i gave it a few minutes and called again to get his name i said "hi hows it going" he said "sorry were closed" and hung up the phone, took absolutely no time for a customer at all i really hope not all the employees are like that especially during this rough time where sales are decreasing due to covid-19 at all food establishments because you guys as a franchise are literally goong to be losing even more money if you cant keep the current customers happy. LAST TIME WE ORDER FROM PHILLY'S BEST. Called in an order for my office for pickup and they didn't even give me a time when the order would be ready. It didn't help that the phone operator didn't understand what what I was trying to say. "The menu online doesn't have prices, what are the prices?" Left right away assuming it wouldn't take them that long. When I got there the cashier was counting cash, didn't acknowledge my existence and his employee was idly standing next to him picking at something on the counter. When the cashier finally told him to help me he just grunted and motioned towards the bag on the counter. (I assumed it was my food) Alas it was but since they never told me how long it would take for them to prepare the food, I must have arrived late as the bag was falling apart with grease and "mayonnaise"??Once I had the bag in hand that employee just motioned towards the cashier and sauntered off. I couldn't even set the bag on my seat because the bag was too greasy. When I got the food back the bag was falling apart and the "Philly's Sandwiches" (I use parenthesis bc I was not sure what I had ordered..) They must have just DUMPED mayonnaise straight onto the bun,steak and vegetables as the bread was soggy and could not even be held to eat. We called for our money back and they told us instead to "Bring the food back" They can get it from our trash can. We only have so much time for lunch and I wont be driving around town trying to rectify a botched food order. We aren't even hungry anymore. Lunch-time lines are generally fairly packed and sometimes it's 'standing room only'...yeah, I know, for a wanna-be-philly cheesesteak, go figure. But anyway, I get my usual Philly's Best Chicken featuring chicken, mushrooms, grilled onions, and provoline; I load it up with peppers/pickles and jalapenos myself. All in all, it's still a decent sandwich, it's just that the one at Traffic Circle was a bit less oily, had a bit more taste, and was less crowded. Also, the prices for this entire chain just seem to be a bit more than what you'd wanna pay. For a buck or 2 less, you can actually get a fairly venerable premium sandwich at Quizno's.
