    Back to school promotion
    Noemi M.

We arrived at Shabuya about ten minutes before opening, and there was already a line out the door -- always a good sign. Luckily, there's plenty of parking since it's in a busy shopping center. We added our name to the waitlist and appreciated being able to wait inside because it was extremely hot outside. While waiting, we noticed a promotion advertising free meals for students with ID, which was a nice touch. Once seated, our server came right over and explained the broth and meat options. I was disappointed to see they only offered chicken thigh instead of breast, which is the only chicken I eat. Because of that, I had to rely on the buffet area for my protein. The buffet itself is small, but well stocked with veggies, seafood and sauces. I grabbed shrimp to make myself a shrimp soup, though the shrimp wasn't deveined, so I had to do it myself. Despite that, my soup and everyone else's, turned out delicious. The veggies were cut larger than I prefer, and it was pretty warm inside the restaurant, likely because of the heat outside and all the boiling pots. Still, the place was clean, the staff was friendly, and the overall experience was enjoyable.

I would give them a 3.5/5. Overtime there is less selection in the seafood section, before ( as seen in picture in 2025) there used to be baby octopus, white clams, bigger shrimp size. Now with the same price, we only have frozen squid and some small clams and very little selection of seafood. Even the shirmp size is super small and the sentinel crab now only have small claws and not half a crab like before...quite dissapointed. I could barely choose anything from the seafood stand , most of the options are imitation crabs, eggs, or fish cakes . The only things doesnt change are the quality of the meat. Still very fresh and tender cut. Service is always good despite the business of the restaurant. I usually go for spicy miso or original house broth. Overall, still a decent place for big family party. My grandma loves this place. But for me it is not too worth it

We came at one of the busiest times of the day so service was kinda slow but still super decent place to eat. The broth was flavorful they meat was so fresh and scrumptious i could not get enough. The self serve table was filled with an amazing variety of the freshes most flavorful vegetables. The carmael milk tea was so yummy! Definitely recommend trying it!!

I really like the sauce options here. I think the tables can be a bit more clean though, i felt like it was kinda sticky. The mango iced tea was very good. Employees are very nice. Clean restrooms as well.

I stopped by shabuya again but I just had a standout experience from Lamar. He had great service and was very efficient and professional! All the other servers + hostesses were also awesome. Ambiance was good as always. The food was hitting 10/10

I remember Shabuya being very popular 5 years ago. Haven't been here in a while and it's still good, but not as good as I remember. I will say it is great value for AYCE hotpot! The hotpot items seem very limited compared to other hotpot places. Missing some of my favorites such as quail eggs, kabocha squash, enoki mushroom... though they do have the best sauce bar situation. You can't really make a bad dipping sauce here. The Yuzu sauce and Goma are fantastic!! Meat quality was good but sides are limited as well - karaage chicken or fried gyoza! My conclusion is Shabuya offers limited variety with decent execution, but it is a bit boring in terms of AYCE selection. Host was super friendly and servers were attentive. Would only come back because someone else wants to eat here. Please bring back capsaicin extract.

My friends and I went for the "Back to School" $11 pp promotion. The original soup base was best. The miso soup base tastes similar to the original except it's a bit saltier. The tonkotsu broth is good but tasted a little more artificial. Beef was very good and flavorful. There was also a large selection of veggies and seafood. Service was wonderful and our server came over whenever he saw we were almost done with our meat. The restaurant was also very modern, clean, and spacious.

Receipt. Proof of visit. Party of 5.

The food was excellent. The beef, pork belly, and chicken were delicious. They have high quality beef here such as wagyu and beef toro. The meat may arrive thin and small, but will grow in size in the soup. So order the quantity carefully. The service was responsive. The ambiance is nice and it's a big location. It was a good Mother's Day for me.

Was feeling sick so I stopped by Shabuya to max out on some iron and some hot soup to soothe my throat. I can always count on Shabuya to give me a great meal, but today especially I wanted to highlight my server, Vincent, who was super attentive to my party. He always ensured all our dishes came out timely, checked in often, and proactively filled our pots with more soup without us needing to ask. I had come in on a down day, feeling under the weather, but the attentiveness I received made my day feel all the much better. Other than this great service, all the appetizers were fresh and flavorful. Self serve bar was fully stocked and I was able to grab the variety of items I like to get with no issue. 10/10 will always come back, thanks for the great service!

Disappointing Promotion Experience I'm very disappointed with how this promotion was handled. The promotion clearly stated that it would end on September 7, 2026, but right before the promotion ended, it was not honored because of the Labor Day weekend. If certain dates or holidays were excluded from the promotion, that should have been clearly stated in the original promotion terms. Customers should not be given an advertised expiration date only to have the promotion denied before that date.

    please, please peel the potatoes!
    KAY KAY L.

Honestly, everything at Shabuya was fantastic! The food, service, and experience were all amazing, and I'm so happy I came here. I absolutely loved it and highly recommend it! My only request: please, please peel the potatoes!

My girlfriend and I are really disappointed with our experience. We came in expecting to receive the back-to-school discount because the poster clearly advertised that the promotion ran from August 8th through September 27th. There was no mention on the poster that the discount would not apply on Labor Day. When we arrived, we were told that we could not receive the discount because it was Labor Day. We understand that businesses can have exclusions for certain holidays, but if that is the case, it should be clearly stated on the promotional advertisement. We feel that the promotion was misleading, and it was frustrating to find out about the exclusion only after we got there. We hope the business will make the terms of future promotions clearer so customers aren't caught off guard.

    Ask the Community - Shabuya

Is the last seating of the night 45 minutes before close?

Hi there! Last call should be done around the 75-minute mark but if it is slow, there should be more flexibility with this policy.

How much for lunch on weekday?

Hi! Our weekday lunch special at Fountain Valley is $20.99 per person (available Mon–Fri until 3:00 PM, excluding holidays). Hope to see you soon!

Do you have special prices for SENIORS?

Hi, sorry for the late response. We don't offer senior discounts at the moment.

    How much for the regular?

The regular price for all-you-can-eat (AYCE) at Shabuya is typically $29.99 per person, though lunch specials may be available for a lower price, like $25.99. Prices can vary slightly by location and may also depend on the day of the week (weekday…

    How to make reservation?

You can try to call for a large party but, I don't think they really have reservations. Only waitlist on Yelp.

Is the a vegan broth option?

I believe the sukiyaki broth, the miso broth, and the water+dry kelp broth and the vegetarian broth are all vegetarian so there are several options. From the bar, there are plenty of veggie stuff - udon, ramen, multiple different types of tofu,…

Does 12/31 have lunch menu or it's holiday menu?

    Do you accept solo diners?

    I've dined there solo.

Swai fish or fish fillet available here? Or specifically, what are the fishes serve here?

I believe Swai fish for the hotpot :) I always always get it. No fried fish here.

How much is it for lunch or dinner?

It's actually 20.99 for lunch and 29.99 for Dinner. Kids between 40-50 inches are 10.99

Is this location the same as Shabuya in LA and Alhambra? The menu appears slightly different.

They are from the same company but different locations will have different menu options

Do you still have outdoor seating as mentioned on your yelp page?

Shabuya doesn't have outdoor seating! That was when covid was around so they don't do it anymore

We want to visit on Saturday April 27, at 5pm. We'll have a large party of 10. Can you accommodate that? How do I enter in Yelp?

I believe parties of 7 or more you have to call in or if you join through yelp you put 7+.

    Do they accept reservations?

No I don't believe they do however they have a Yelp waitlist

How do we contact you if when calling your store, it automatically hangs up?

Shabuya, Fountain Valley, phone service are currently down and it is unknown when they will get it fixed. The only way to ask questions is by going there physically and they are happy to help

    Do you sell gift cards?

    Yes! Shabuya sell gifts cards

What kind of sauce is served with the chicken karaage? Like what is in it?

There's different ones. One is like a spicy Mayo.

How do I contact the restaurant via phone? The number listed doesn't go through, and we're trying to make a reservation for a large party. Thanks!

From my understanding they do not accept reservations. But you can reserve your table via Yelp to get on the list. Or show up at open time to have a quick seating.

Can they do like noodles with garlic sauce?

This is not that kind of restaurant.

We went on Friday night and I was surprised that we were seated right away. The service was great and friendly and the restaurant itself felt cozy and high-end. We ordered the garlic parm fries, momonoki chicken wings, and dashi pesto. The garlic parm fries were crispy and fresh and were like the best version of a McDonald's or Potato Corner fry. I could smell the garlic as soon as the fries came to the table but unfortunately, the taste wasn't as strong as I was hoping. Still really delicious, but the high price point means I probably wouldn't order this again. The chicken wings came out next and they were HUGE. They were super juicy inside and the fish sauce glaze was strong and had a nice kick. I appreciated that despite being glazed, the wings were still pretty crispy. The slaw that came on the size was a little heavy on the mayo and had a bright peppery taste. Definitely a nice fresh component to an otherwise heavy meal. Finally, the dashi pesto came out and the udon was perfectly bouncy. The pesto had a subtle seafood flavor and was very herbaceous. Most pesto I'm used to pack more of a sharp, garlicky punch, but this one leaned heavily into the fresh basil which I enjoyed. The scallops on top were also cooked beautifully. I was a bit sad that we received each dish at very different times, the dash pasta coming out much much later than the fries but they did warn us after we placed our order that the kitchen would be very busy so I appreciated the heads up. All in all, I think this is such a fun and classy fusion restaurant and they executed very well.

The atmosphere within was calm and comforting, familiar in a way that soothed the soul. In a world filled with noisy feasting halls and chaotic marketplaces, this establishment stood as a peaceful sanctuary where one might rest and enjoy a most noble meal. The serving folk were nothing short of extraordinary. Attentive without hovering, quick of wit, and brimming with personality, they carried themselves with the sort of genuine hospitality that cannot be taught by any guild or academy. Every interaction felt sincere and full of heart. Now, let us speak of the pan-fried gyoza, for I fear words alone may fail to capture its greatness.
