This is a cute little marina cafe with a beautiful view. The fish tacos were delicious! I came with an appetite and could still barely finish my third taco. My daughter ordered the eggplant and pasta, it was "ok" just a little under-seasoned. The crawfish tails in their fried crawfish was really tiny (mini shrimp size) and didn't have a lot of flavor. Our server was friendly but slow with checking in on us. We had to wait for a water refill but other then that we didn't need anything else, so it wasn't an issue. Waterfront dining is my favorite way to dine and Phil's is right on the water. Seafood is definitely my favorite cuisine and there's plenty of great seafood being served up here. I was in the mood for crawfish recently...no surprise...and a quick call to Phil's confiimed they had them and off we headed. We walked in, were seated right away overlooking our lovely lake and prepared to dig in. Their crawfish are hot, spicy and fat. You can't go wrong here ordering mud bugs. I love the atmosphere as well. The table next to ours were old school New Orleans guys who are now Northshore guys discussing Leidenhimer bread. It doesn't get more southern than that. When you're done eating I suggest taking your leftover bread or fries and feeding the ducks in the lake. read more

The food is good. That is not the problem. They have a policy of "everyone must be present to be seated" even when 3/4 of the restaurant is empty. They wouldn't put together tables or even be willing to add a chair to a 4 top for 5 of us to sit on the patio. The teenage hostess is the rudest person I've ever encountered in a dining establishment. Our server was great but wow the overall experience was unpleasant. Also, super fun listening to some old white man yelling about politics and inappropriate nonsense with kids around. No one did anything to stop that. Will not return. read more

The locals have this charming restaurant on their go to list. It's usually packed and the servers will easily overlook new people to wait on their favorite customers. I have noticed that The servers aren't always friendly to out of towners but stop and chat to the customers they know. The food has been average for lunches, and it takes awhile to get your drinks served, but the drinks are worth the wait, not so much the food. Even sitting at the bar, I've got people standing behind me waiting to get drinks while thy wait for a table. Every single bartender I've had are absolutely friendly! They never let you go without a drink in front of you. The food is good. Had the cheeseburger twice and always cooked to order. The shrimp and grits were out of this world! They were drizzled with a clear reaux of bacon, tomatoes, green onions, & jalapeños. Just added a perfect kick! The shrimp Po'boy was big and very tasty. We were driving through and saw that this restaurant had good reviews. I'm so glad we came by! We came just before 5 and were able to get a table by the window and watched a beautiful sunset. Besides the beautiful view, the food was so delicious! My husband loved his Mahi-mahi and I had fried catfish strips. I never had catfish so tender that melts in your mouth! We will definitely be returning! I do suggest coming early, because by the time we left it was starting to get crowded. read more

I ordered a sweet iced tea and for a appetizer I had a half dozen Royal Red Shrimp which are a special variety that are only found in deep cold gulf waters from mobile to Florida and unlike. the typical shrimp they taste like lobster and are uniquely sweet and tender. They were amazing they were also cooked perfectly and served with clarified butter and lemon which was good but I'm more like I need cocktail sauce and the cocktail sauce here was xtra yummy lots of horseradish. My entree was Softshell Kaitlin OH My Goodness This could quite possibly be the best thing I've tasted in 58 years and to think I almost ordered the seafood platter instead. The Softshell Kaitlin was a fried huge soft shell crab ( cleaned and seasoned perfectly ) sitting atop a big mound of spaghetti noodles and everything was topped with a delicious Cajun crawfish and artichoke heart cream sauce. They didn't skimp on anything here the crawfish tails must of had at least 1/2 cup or maybe a whole cut of Louisiana crawfish tails and a lot of artichoke hearts not just little jibs I'm talking nice big hearts the entire dish was perfect and there was plenty of creamy sauce as well. My waitress well she was almost invisible only got 1 refill and it wasn't from her. I was gonna get a slice of key lime pie for dessert and a cup of coffee but when I finally saw her she was sitting my check on the table so I just paid out and skipped out on dessert.
