This is a fun restaurant. Great location, food, and service. We got some oysters and shrimp while we waited. Food is really good. I got the Snapper Pontchartrain with Gouda Grits. It was outstanding. My meal was really filling. I recommend this restaurant and would eat here again.

We stopped at Phil's Marina Café for lunch on our way home from a night in New Orleans, and let me tell you--it was the perfect sendoff. I had the fried crawfish tails, and they were golden, crispy little bites of Louisiana heaven. Perfectly seasoned and fried just right--no grease puddles, just flavor and crunch. Malinda had the fried catfish strips with sweet potato fries, and she didn't say much once the food hit the table--which is how you know it was real good. That fish was flaky and tender inside with a cornmeal crust that could win awards, and those sweet potato fries were everything--crispy edges, soft centers, and just the right kiss of salt. We split a simple side salad with ranch (because you need something green when you're deep in fried seafood joy), and even that was fresh and cold, the kind of salad that doesn't feel like an afterthought. The ranch was so yummy. Phil's is casual, friendly, and full of folks who know how to feed you right. It's the kind of place where you feel like you've been before--even if it's your first time. Our server was amazing!

We were looking to try another seafood restaurant on our way to the New Orleans airport so this was our first time at this place. We arrive at 11 when they open. There was already a line at the door. We tried a couple dozen raw oysters, crab claws, and crab cake. It was all delicious! I keep getting shells in my oysters but my husband did not so we will be back. It was probably a fluke. Our server was great! Great place to stop for seafood. Enjoy!

This is a really great place to dine! The panoramic views are gorgeous. They have lots of seating and can accommodate groups large or small. The menu offers a wide variety of delicious options. I chose the blackened red snapper with the house salad and the steamed veggies. The meal was excellent. The portion was perfect and the price was appropriate. The employees are all friendly and upbeat. They provided excellent service for our visit. We will definitely be back!

I want to like this place, I really do, but every time I come here I'm underwhelmed. Twice I've gotten fish dishes - once was fish tacos, and more recently the house special Mahi Marliene - where the fish was dry. I really dislike dry meat and fish, so maybe I'm more sensitive/picky about than average, but surely in a dish advertised as a house special, the fish shouldn't be dry. Yes, the stuffing and buttery spinach mostly offset the fish, but I shouldn't have had to rely on other components to offset the main component's shortcomings. Service is usually decent and the location is nice - it has a canal/water view - but unless I'm in a group that chooses to go there, I doubt I'll return.

We first got there there was a wait. So we went walk down the pier. When we got called for our table 2 servers were annoyed bc we had to sit at a big table vs a small one. The female server was like why they have to sit there and the male server said it's bc that's what they were told. Immediately my husband and I was like oh goodness here we go. The guy sat us and said that the big table was all they had. We said it's ok we don't mind it. The girl comes to persuade us that we can move to a smaller table. We told her it's fine. We got the vibe that she was mad we were sat there bc she could have had a larger party. Well waited 15 minutes til a guy came to ask us if we got our drink orders in. We said Nope! So the girl came back to apologize and you can tell she was trying to make up for her time she didn't wait on us. It was our first time there and didn't expect the service to be bad bc we've heard great things. All that aside the food was great.

This is my favorite restaurant in Slidell, LA. The seafood is fresh, perfect, plentiful, and always delicious. We've tried blackened fish, grilled fish, fried everything and nothing disappoints. There are TVs for sports fans who can't miss the big game. The yacht club view with many boats is classic. The shrimp are huge. Salads are standard. There is a bar. Prices are fair, simple sandwiches, and poboys, boiled seafood, and fancy plates with seafood sauces. The only disappointment is that tea and soft drinks are $4.25.

Went kayaking and this was a perfect chill lunch on the way back to New Orleans! Quick and great service. Started with 12 oysters for $15, they tasted good but prepare for some shell in them (although isn't that part of the experience) they brought many lemons which was appreciated. The fried crawfish tails are local and were delicious with sweet potato fries. The shrimp Maria pasta had 10 jumbo shrimp which was a lot of shrimp, the sauce was very plain wish there was more to it.

Traveling for work and a friend recommended this local restaurant. Kristin was excellent at making sure my first visit was very good. She was friendly and had some great recommendations. I started with a cup of corn and crawfish chowder. It was very tasty. My entree was Mahi Marliene with gouda grits as a side. Delicious. Meal also came with a salad. I got the crème brûlée to go. Nice views of the water from my table. Definitely recommended.

Absolutely delicious shrimp platter! Food was piping hot. Took my dad for his birthday. He had the oysters which he loved.

Off the beaten path unless you live in that area but well worth the trip from Mandeville. While they had lots of parking it wasn't enough. This restaurant which doesn't take reservations was packed. Forty-five minute wait at 6 pm. However, the weather was perfect and able to sit in back on water and pier. The food was very good. Giving a four because service was slow which I am sure has something to do with an overwhelmed staff. Party of five. We started with calamari which was excellent. Soft shell crab, small but well done. Two steaks which the kids enjoyed. Salads and grilled fish, also enjoyed. I would definitely recommend and will return. The seafood was some of the best in this area read more

We ate here May 26th. Honestly writing this review because people are raving about the food. But let me correct you. This food is mid. It's very bland and taste like there is little to no seasoning used. It's an ok spot in a pinch but if I want seafood in Slidell you'll catch me at Southside or elsewhere. read more

Always great and very consistent for casual dining. They do a great job on boiled and fried seafood (one of the best in the NOLA area) but lots of other choices too! Crabmeat AuGratin FABULOUS! Great gumbo! Italian dishes are terrific too! Large, bright, family-friendly and a good choice for large parties. We'll-trained, friendly wait staff and bartenders! Phil knew what he was doing! Ticks me off when they charged me 75 cents for onions on my salad, though! LOL! read more

I have always loved Phil's. The food was delicious as always and the service was wonderful, I was floored when my sister asked for more tartar sauce and was told they had a charge for it. We spent over 100.00 dollars and they charged .75 for a small container of tartar sauce. I think they need to rethink this. One container came with her meal of 24 shrimp one is not enough and I think it is terrible they charge for extra. The food cost enough. I will bring my own next time I go. Shame on you. read more

Hubby and I had a delicious dinner at Phil's. Started with a cup of gumbo. This is real Louisiana gumbo with a dark creamy roux and loaded with seafood! I had the Softshell Kaitlin off the specials menu. Unbelievable food. I have not had a meal this good in ages. I ended up packing up half of the serving because it was so much . Hubby ordered the fried shrimp special and devoured most of the 24 large shrimp! He did share one with me and it was cooked perfectly! Great buy for $12.95! We finished the meal with bananas foster bread pudding topped with homemade whipped cream. This is the real deal made with French bread. I ordered a coffee and yes it was dark and rich like java should be. We are already planning a return trip! Great view of the marina. read more

Local dining on the harbor in Slidell La. Nawlins quality sans NOLA prices? My catfish 'Cindy' was excellent. Generous. Fresh plump shrimp. Sides all really good. Bottomless UN. My dining companions universally gave thumbs up. Service thoughtful and prompt. Coldbeer was totally awesome in a frozen mug. 'Un'kept on coming Easy peasy parking. What a great place! Our hotel recommended Phil's and it was just as good as they said. Beautiful dockside view and the food was tasty and reasonably priced. I love seafood and my husband is a very picky eater and we had plenty of options. We come to the area twice a year and will definitely visit Phil's again. read more

Very nice setting on the water, great view of marina. The waitress was very helpful had good recommendations and was very helpful. Had the raw oysters for app. They didn't look good but were very tasty. Had crawfish pasta which was delicious. And also the Maui maui with shrimp and mushrooms Both were very filling and flavorful Definitely will go back and try something else read more

Wow what a fabulous place. Not only was the service GREAT, food very tasty and the cost was so resonable. I ordered a martini and called the vodka I wanted..it was PERFECT and less than 7.00.. We ordered Crabmeat au Gratin appetizer and it was so good I wanted one to take home. I also ordered Creme brulee to take home and living in California we get picky about desserts. This had to be the best I have ever had. My only issue was it was in a to go container and the put a red and white paper in there..it stuck..but trust me I loved it. Our server "Heaven D" was so helpful, knowledgeable and kind. I highly recommend this restaurant and Crabmeat au Gratin, Lemon drop martini, and Creme Brulee. Can't wait to go back! read more

We were heading back from a funeral and wanted to grab lunch with the bf parents. They live close to Phil's so bf actually picked it out. I was highly surprised when he did. I'm not usually a fan of the places he picks. Its very limited. Well I was shook. They have weekday lunch specials and had crawfish bread. I had forgot about the crab claws which was a shame. We ordered onions and I order the gumbo which wasn't too bad. It actually had seafood in it. I ordered the shrimp basket and I was amazed at how fresh these shrimp taste. Like usually you can tell at places if it is fresh or frozen. These were fried to order. I will say I wasn't too impressed with the bread pudding but bf loved it. We will be back in we are ever in the dirty dell. read more

Great place with a beautiful view of the yacht club. Easy parking and a short wait time. The serving staff is very attentive and friendly. Kelcie is the best server in the place. Now to the important stuff? The food is really good with nice portions. The seafood platter is huge and well seasoned. The ribeye steak is nicely marbled and prepared in a garlic butter sauce. The Royal Red shrimp are jumbo and taste almost like lobster. My entrée was the shrimp and grits. FANTASTIC! If you come here, you have to try them! read more

One of my favorite local hangouts! The food is excellent and a very friendly staff. I like to sit at the bar and enjoy fresh shucked oysters and a cold beer. The food here was wonderful. I had the Red Snapper with shrimp and crab stuffing over it. The fish was cooked to perfection and the stuffing just over the top. My husband had the Shrimp and cheesy grits, I really cannot say if they were good, he would not share and wolfed it all down. (LOL). The service was really good, attentive without being intrusive and the food was brought out quickly. The restaurant sits right on the end of Lake Pontchartrain and we were there near sunset, hint: find a seat where the curtain comes down all the way or sit across, the sun glare can be fierce. read more

My favorite restaurant in Slidell! Everything we ordered was delicious and so fresh. We started with a mixed drink...very similar to a bahamamana! Soooo yummy and very reasonably priced. Then I had to order the crab cakes...one of the best crab cakes I have ever had, with lots of fresh crabmeat..they also don't fry it, so you can really taste it's freshness. Then I had the pasta with shrimp...sooo good! Finished our meal with a bread pudding! Superb...I was so pleased and easily hands down the best place to eat in Slidell! read more

We love Phil's! It used to be our very favorite local spot to come in for a bite back in 2011 when we lived here. The crawfish corn chowder is amazing! But everything else is incredible too. We enjoy seating out in the back area by the windows overlooking the harbor. We returned for a visit (after 7 years!) and were happy to make it in before they closed. They were slammed (not surprising given how good they are!) but we still got great, efficient service and top-notch food. And the beers? Something like $2.25! You won't find that in California- ha. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone- you won't be disappointed! read more

The 3,Stars are for the food and view!!! The service well let say what service, had to get up and with our cups to get refills! Received our food never checked on again had to get up again for refills! Copy of my receipt is attached! Food was great but the service leaves a bad taste in my mouth. As a tourist, the restaurant is very local and most of the guests know each other. The restaurant is filled with family warmth and the food is very fresh and delicious, I was very impressed. Of course, one of the waitress's "Poker Faces" was equally impressive. Anyway, it doesn't prevent it from being a good restaurant and I will visit again. read more

This is a cute little marina cafe with a beautiful view. The fish tacos were delicious! I came with an appetite and could still barely finish my third taco. My daughter ordered the eggplant and pasta, it was "ok" just a little under-seasoned. The crawfish tails in their fried crawfish was really tiny (mini shrimp size) and didn't have a lot of flavor. Our server was friendly but slow with checking in on us. We had to wait for a water refill but other then that we didn't need anything else, so it wasn't an issue. On a sunny day, this would make a good brunch spot. read more

I really appreciated how I ordered a gumbo and the waitress was transparent with me that they had received complaints from other patrons that day about the gumbo, so she brought me a sample of it and-the patrons were right. There gumbo was not hitting for some reason that day. But I was grateful that instead of just ringing me up for a bowl, she was honest with me and let me make the choice. The menu has a lot to offer salads, po boys, fried seafood (including soft shell crab), and they also had some signature daily specials like Mahi Mahi topped with crawfish and mushrooms.
