A Standout Louisiana Brunch We had a family brunch last Sunday, and Palmettos on the Bayou was exceptional. The Sunday Brunch Buffet offered an impressive variety, and everything we tried was delicious, especially the tender ribs, flavorful brisket, and the perfectly chargrilled oysters. The view was unique and right on the bayou, which added a relaxed, scenic backdrop to the meal. With live jazz and a vibrant, welcoming atmosphere, the whole experience felt distinctly Louisiana in the best way. This review is for my experience with Natalie and for the exquisite food items we ordered. The chargrilled oysters are better than either of the other major restaurants that serve them. For reference I've had acme, Dragos, superior seafood, New Orleans food and spirits. The fried green tomatoes were perfectly fried with boiled shrimp and a cucumber salad and remolaude on top. WOW! The shrimp were a party in my mouth. The bread pudding was also arguably the best in the area. Slightly firm, but incredibly moist, topped with cream and apple slices. Also, Natalie went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our meal. We'll go back often and ask for her. I do also appreciate restaurants were it seems there are working together to and sure customers have what they need The only downside was the bar tender didn't offer smiles. She had a very firm and unwelcoming look that didn't seem to go with the rest of the culture. read more

We stopped by for a brunch on Saturday. The service was really great, we found everyone to be accommodating and helpful. The space inside was limited but outside was pretty spacious so we settled there. The disappointment comes from the lack of options offered for "Saturday Jazz Brunch" as we were excited to see if the option would be some brunch favorites the buffet turned out to be severely lacking of brunch items. We had to choose from boiled shrimp and crawfish(on ice). Fried shrimp, catfish and chicken tenders. Lasagna (weirdly with carrots and peas inside) catfish almondine (if I'm not mistaken) and other dishes that were not brunch menu items there was a . We were looking for chicken and waffles, pancakes, eggs hash brown something. The only thing breakfast was the omelette bar . The Rich Aunties were Brunchin' in Slidell! EVERYTHING was absolutely amazing from the reservations to the photo ops. Our waiter was so cool! He made sure we were good the entire time. Baby the food was top tier!!! Now y'all know I love a grown and sexy mocktail and they delivered!! This place is such a vibe! We dined on the patio and the weather was perfect! This was our second time to dine at Palmetto's while visiting family in Slidell and it was great again. Everything we got was delicious and service was great. The atmosphere is very nice as well. An incredibly beautiful and joyous brunch experience. I have see Palmettos pop up on Northshore dining pages and have always wanted to go. The quality of the food, promptness in service and accomodations to a severe seafood allergy for our child guest was spectcular. Our waitress was Stephanie, and we could not have asked for a better host to help us through the menu with detailed suggestions and requests. The drinks were also incredible. As the food was quite heavy, the option of just coming in for drinks and apps makes it a versatile choice. The bartender was great, helping with swapouts on some items (gin for vodka, etc). Of our food, the standout items were the biscuits with homemade raspberry compote, the fried chicken and waffles, & the oysters. My party of 3 had dinner on a Saturday evening and it was an okay experience overall. There was ample parking but there wasn't any structure. You have to just find a spot on the grounds. We had a reservation and were seated quickly. We started with the baked Brie appetizer. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great. We all ordered the salmon dish because it sounded the most appealing. Tried Sunday Brunch here..I really didn't know about the buffet..I'm not a fan of those at all! I did give it a try..the food was average, not a fan of it..the best thing I had was the waffles and Bayou Breeze drink..the setting is super cute but the buffet threw me off! Beautiful location with amazing food and fantastic service. Take the time to sit on the patio and just enjoy the experience. I failed to take good pictures because the food was so good. We started off with the chargrilled oysters that were plump and buttery and delicious. We ordered the special, a 16oz bone-in steak with crab on top and a blue cheese butter. It was fantastic. They also accommodated our request to make broiled Brussels sprouts which were the best I've ever had. Then afterwards as they were closing down, Jorge took the time to show us around the whole place and the expansion, and was very hospitable and excited about some of the updates. Had the pleasure of visiting this place for the Sunday jazz brunch. We loved it. The ambiance was breathtaking and the food menu was impeccable. My only complaint was our reservation was for 2pm and they didn't do a good job of refilling the food towards the end of the day. Next time I'm going to book our reservation earlier so we can take advantage of a refill. Everything is mostly out after 3pm. read more

I was excited to try this place as I saw that it highlighted Creole inspired dishes and specialized in seafood. Viewed a menu online and already knew what I wanted to order. Sadly, the current menu has only one 'creole' dish - that being the gumbo from the soup menu. And one seafood dish - pecan encrusted fish, but they were out of that one. We came here on the way to the airport and are definitely going to return. We were too late for Saturday brunch and too early for dinner, so we were told they were only serving appetizers. This was fine with us, and if their appetizers are any indication of all of their dining experiences, then this is one of the best places we've eaten on the coast. Stopped in here on an extended commute home. Had always wanted to try it so when I saw the sign on the interstate I pulled off. Great impressions from the get go. The place was beautiful, outside covered in Christmas lights. The inside was very nice. Had a wonderful bartender named Jason serve me. Extremely polite, helpful, and poured a good drink. Finally got to go to Palmettos On The Bayou! Absolutely gorgeous restaurant with fantastic food & service. I had the Butternut Squash Ravioli appetizer which also came with huge Royal Red shrimp. Delicious! Tim got a bowl of Duck & Tasso Gumbo which was super good as well. We didn't get to sit outside because they were booked up with reservations but will definitely make sure to do that next time because the outside area on Bayou Bonfouca is STUNNING. Absolutely amazing. We were in town for a play and had long heard about Palmettos but never ventured from New Orleans before. The setting is rustic/sheik but with an upscale twist to it. The service was amazing and the food was outstanding. They made an off the menu vegetarian pasta for me that was one of the freshest and most innovative plates I've had in a while. Excellent service. Delicious food. Great atmosphere. We were looking for a late lunch, early dinner place since we were in the area, but we didn't want to hit up our usual haunts. While my wife was doing some shopping on Fremeaux, I found a couple of options, and I chose Palmetto's at the last minute as we were leaving the shopping center. We pulled in to the private, gravel, parking lot and as we approached the rather unassuming entrance, we began to question my choice. Going through the door, however, we were greeted by the friendly staff and a large beautiful dining room. We were given the option to sit outside on the covered, enclosed, porch. While it was cold outside (only a few days past the great southern snow storm of 2025), we happily chose the incredible views and ambience of the "porch" which was warm thanks to several, strategically placed tower heaters. Our service was excellent and our server was incredibly friendly and helpful. The food was very good. We got a smash burger and chicken and waffles, then split them and shared. We were able to have a nice, peaceful and delicious meal with beautiful scenery surrounding us. After our meal, we even took a short walk out to the attached dock on the bayou, which is nestled in big, beautiful cypress trees covered in Spanish moss. Overall, the experience was very enjoyable and we will absolutely be going back to Palmetto's! read more
