Ordered delivery service last night after hearing rave reviews about Phils thin crust pizza. It did not disappoint at all! This is EXACTLY what Chicago thin crust pizza is all about folks! The crust was perfect, sauce was light and had a nice flavor (not too much which can get messy). The cheese, sausage, and mushroom were amply applied and very fresh. Had a yen for stuffed za, and wanted to show my Texan GF what Chi-style stuffed is all about. My memories from decades ago of Uno's initially made me conclude that as an easy choice, but more recent Yelpers changed my mind, and so we were on our way to the far NW side to Phil's which has earned more stars and praise. The complementary garlic bread is nice and crispy and hit the spot with our BYOB prosecco. Though I think they used garlic powder, not fresh puree-my only neg about the garlic bread which was still very good. The Phi's Special Salad, kind of an antipasto, was good, but it could have been a little better with nicer olives and one or two more kinds of meat or cheese. And it could have been a lot better with some house-made Italian, which is seriously, not that hard to make...so why not? We ordered a medium cheese, sausage, mushroom, pepper stuffed medium. Awesome pizza, worth the wait. The sauce and crust were excellent, generous amounts of cheese. It takes 45 minutes, which they tell you on the menu, and you should expect if you've ordered stuffed before anywhere. We brought tons home for leftovers, a small is actually more than enough for two. The ambience is very basic, but lots of windows. Service is very good. read more

I can't believe I haven't done this sooner! I've been going to Phil's for a while now....almost every Saturday night with my friends for months. We are just over the moon for this place. The food is beyond amazing and the staff is helpful and very friendly. I just can't say enough good things about this place. I haven't been too adventurous with the menu mostly because once I find a few things that I like I stick with them. One this is for sure, you will never walk out of there feeling hungry! read more

Best pizza in the hood. Many others have really gone down hill so I tried Phils based on the yelp reviews. Great quality cheese and a bit thicker crust for thin crust but still quality. I could eat a large by myself if I had to but I usually put in fridge for later. Have not eaten in yet but it is a BYOB so I will make my way. Plus they have gluten free pizza and pasta for those cillies in the area. read more

In these parts, there are probably 40 pizza places within 2.5 miles of my house and about 20 within 1 mile of my house. Phils Pizza D' Oro is about 2 miles away and it's our staple when we order pizza. It's hard to find better. My brother-in-law from California is hooked on it too. He can't wait to come out and visit and the first place i take him when his flight gets in is Phil's Pizza D' Oro. read more

Really not sure why everyone is going nuts over this place. 2nd best overall rating for Pizza in Chicago? I think not. I'm just glad I was in the neighborhood to play pool and not just for this. Positive: Free garlic flatbread BYOB Cheap Negative: Slow service - we noticed the deep dish had a 45-minute warning on it so we ordered one of those and a thin crust, assuming we'd get the thin crust significantly faster. About an hour later, we got both pizzas at the same time. Maybe we should have asked to get the thin crust first, but why on earth would you give a table two pizzas at the same time when four people are sitting there starving for an hour? Pizza Quality - the pizza was OK but there was definitely nothing special about it. The deep dish was your typical too-cheesy, soggy crust Chicago style and the thin crust was enjoyable but not any better than your local corner pizza joint. I'm sure this place is fine if you're from the neighborhood but it doesn't live up to the hype. read more

UPDATE: 12 months later and this is still the only place we get pizza. We have tried a few other places since this place in the last year but, we haven't found anything is Phil's yet. Pizza still just as great. Staff is fast, friendly, efficient and overall great. Whether you dine in or get for pick up you can expect great food and excellent service. read more

One Saturday night, after arguing with my girl friend for a while, I took the train down to her house around 9 o'clock. When I got there the arguing did not seem to stop... we drove around for an hour or so, arguing and talking. When we finally came to an agreement and figured stuff out we decided that we should go out to dinner. It was around 10:30 now, we drove around looking for anything. Then we came across Phil's Pizza D'ora. We went in and it seemed perfect, the place was a good size, and open. We sat down, and it was perfect because there was no one else in there. The service was very nice, the kid behind the counter was super polite, and had a sense of humor. The complimentary bread sticks were delicious, thin baked bread, with a cheese on it, with a marina sauce. They were surprisingly really good. After ordering drinks, we went through the menu, and there was such a large choice of options it was awesome. We are both vegetarians, so having a choice like this is amazing. We ordered the fried cheese stuffed ravioli, they were very good in size and came with 5 of them (if i remember correctly). We also ordered a Garlic and Oil Spaghetti. Which all entree's come with a house salad. It was to my surprise really good. At first judgment from viewing the place outside you would not expect it to be half as good as it is. This is probably my new favorite restaurant in the area. The price was decent, food was great, and the service was awesome. I wish they had 6 stars because you have to have this pizza dining in. I don't know how they do it but I really like them better then when they were on NOrthwest hwy. I ate at the Mikwaukee place one other time. I think this place gets better everytime. There is nothing fancy about their pizza. Kind of reminds me of how places did pizza in the 90s. Phil's extra large well done cheese pizza is the bomb! This pizza is the best pizza I've ever had in my life. I don't know what these poor reviews are talking about. This is a small family owned business and I've never had a problem with their customer service. Call in ahead and order or else you'll have to wait about 1 hour for your pizza. Delicious Delicious Delicious! My husband & I stopped by while we were in the area. We were told how delicious the food was at this place, so we decided to try it. It was a great experience coupled up by delicious pizza with the sauce being as authentic and tasty (made to perfection) just like my great aunts sauce at our family Sunday dinners! It's very hard to find that kind of old world quality food that makes you feel like your in a small town pizzeria in Sicily! The waiter was very attentive and prices are very reasonable. Phil's delivery service is top. Whenever I order from Phil's, it is delivered within an hour, hot and the food is excellent. I recommend ordering from Phil's the Italian beef gunner and/or the pizza. The stuffed shells and/or the meatball sandwiches are awesome too. I have ordered from them for over 15 years now and will continue to order from this restaurant as long as I reside in the neighborhood. I was stuck between 3 and 4 stars, and went with 3 then changed it to 4. The staff here is very good- everyone is friendly and courteous. There is a guy waiter in the late afternoon/early evening who is consistently great. We had a private party here, and I did love the way the staff helped us set up, and also the way they went from table to table throughout the dinner service and offered to get coffee, etc, and offered the dessert we'd brought. There were two women helping with it, and both took the initiative to help us in all things. So in that respect, this is a great place to have an event. I am not a huge fan of the pizza...it is good but doesn't blow me away. I do like the crust. I am a fan of the pasta with marinara! It was delicious at our event! However, the party room we were in had a giant open doorway (5 times the width of a door) to the actual restaurant seating area. The night we were there, they seemed to purposely seat all incoming guests in the tables directly adjacent to the large open arch to the party room. Maybe they wanted to give the appearance of a "happening place" since there were only a handful of regular tables filled. But they complained we were making too much noise, and I think it could have been handled better. We're not kids, and our business far outnumbered the other guests that came in that night. The party room we were given (don't know if they have others) is completely open to the restaurant! Pluses are the staff, some good dishes, the convenient location, and even the party room is nice. Minuses are they need privacy screens or maybe actual glass doors between the restaurant and their private area, and also need to have a plan in place for how to address issues of loud music from a party. Maybe it all has to be understood in advance, or structurally accounted for. Would I use them again? Yes. But since we would want to run the event in the same way we did, I think there would have to be some changes made regarding both expectations and delivery of services from Phil's. read more

Had dinner a couple of weeks back with friends on a Saturday evening. Great local place that easily accommodated 11 of us. Best pizza in town, service staff could not have been friendlier or more attentive. When the owner heard it was someone's bday, had an awesome, huge chocolate chip cookie with ice cream served up to the table. Phil's is a lot less greasy than most places. Though I I truly love NY pizza, this is where I go in my neighborhood when I craze pizza. The owners are great and they accommodate my crazy requests (half pineapple half roast beef - don't judge). :) read more

This is one of the Best Pizza places on the northwest side of Chicago we enjoy and order from them once a week .

The bread give you is not good way oven season and could be better. Order garlic bread stick and it taste better with out sauce nice crisp and flavor but the sauce is plain and takes away from it could use little more garlic but like the season on it. Also got pepperoni pizza could use more pepperoni taste more like cheese pizza. Sauce not speacial prop can or similar being thin crust good crunch to it nice cheese on pizza nice melt with stringy when pull slice away. This is just me some one who works in indusrty and is chef not bad dinning out dayed but nice more family place but all around not bad food could be better with slight changes but ill come back again read more

Love the food, it's always hot and delivered fast! The only thing that would be a great improvement is their phone system. It would be great if they could look you up with your phone number, we've been ordering for years now and it's really annoying having to repeat your address over and over again, when we order from other restaurants they have this system and it's great! We were looking for a place to have our daughter's first birthday party. After researching many places in the area, the price could not be beat. We went in to try the pizza and we were sold! We had a party for 35 adults and 12 kids and there was plenty of space. The service was outstanding and the food was even better! The owners were extremely flexible and went above and beyond to accommodate us. The food was excellent! Many of our guests left with a menu in hand! It was so nice to be able to have a casual pizza party and not be over charged. read more
