As newcomers to the Jeff Park area we had to try some of the local pizza places. I must say this was delicious. The sauce had a slightly sweet flavor to it which I'm a big fan of. The salad was just ok. Nothing outrageously good but we also didn't order an exciting salad. So probably our fault. And their tiramisu was really good too. So, just moved into the neighborhood and tried this place out the day before I moved while the family and I were painting the new place. Well dang, it was pretty good! Arrived promptly and PIPING hot... but whats with the pizza bag? I'm partial to my pizza coming in a box, but its not a huge deal I guess. The Hawaiian was mighty tasty, but the chunks of ham(canadian bacon?) could have been smaller (if I can nit-pick) and the other side was good spinach, mushroom, onion & sausage. I'm surprised no one has reviewed Phil's yet. This is the place in the neighborhood to get good pizza when you're craving it. Staff is friendly, and they've got a decent sized eat-in area although i assume most of their business is delivery or takeout. I just finished eating a pizza from there for the umpteenth time and it hit the spot. I'm just throwing this up there for others to review, hopefully this can incite some new business for these people. been coming here for years. sal/ frank/ janice/& last but not least rose are thee most gracious hosts( owners) you will ever know. the server tommy the last time i had my family come in for a sitdown dinner experience(before the outbreak) this young man was so thoughtful and kind too needs & request. pizza was on point( as always) you can b.y.o.b.( huge plus even though now no sit down). just a great time we had there. and as far as delivery goes. professional drivers that are not rude or late( like they know the all the shortcut in the area like the back of there hand.super fast. i never understood why they did not want to get multiple places...maybe they felt that by if doing so...the product and the service would not be up too their standards. anyone in that area that has not given them a try should..they will be pleasantly surprised. read more

This is real old time, old school thin crust Chicago pizza! Sam; family & crew keep the tradition alive. The waiter is very polite and attentive. We have been ordering from Phil's for years since it was on Northwest Hwy. The new location has a large "air conditioned" dining area that can accommodate large groups as well; where you can sit down and eat hot pizza right out of the oven. The salads are fresh, crisp and tasty. Their mushroom pizza has fresh mushrooms and not the wet canned type that you get from many pizza places. If you want to go back in time to taste original Chicago pizza from the 1950's this is the place. read more

Looked around for a new local joint near my girlfriend's place, and I didn't want to settle for the usual touristy places like Lou's or Giordano's, which are fine in their own right but they're not the place right down the road, staffed by folks you see at the grocery store, you know? Anyway, I liked the look of the pizza on Phil's Pizza D'Oro's Yelp page, which inspired me to research the place further, and the reviews and prices both fit my bill, so I gave it a whirl. I went with a 14" half-cheese, half-sausage thin crust and it was amazing. A light, airy crust that is also crispy, and the pie was fresh and warm, dripping with cheese. The sausage was good, as well. Have to mention the service. We got delivery and they said within an hour, but it took them 30 minutes. Good prices, good food, good experience. Will check them out again and stick their menu on my fridge. read more

been ordering our Pizza from Phils for 40 years now and can't even think of going anywhere else. Over the years we have tried a few others, mostly if we order on a Monday and Phil's is closed, but they don't even come close to Phil's. Great crust and gotta try Sal's extra thin crust, awesome. Moved to the area recently and thought I'd try out the thin crust. It's a medium thin crust, not really cracker thin, but it was pretty tasty. I did a half sausage and half pepperoni, and much preferred the sausage with their slightly sweeter sauce. About a week later I tried their stuffed pizza, and unfortunately it wasn't as good as the thin. The sauce was even sweeter than on the thin crust and there was an abundance of italian seasoning flavor coming from some part of the pizza. Crust came a bit soggy as well, but that's forgivable given a stuffed pizza. It wasn't bad, it just didn't hold up to what Giordano's has trained me to expect from a stuffed pizza. Still searching for the perfect thin crust in the area, but Phil's is a solid choice, especially if you like a sweeter pizza sauce. read more

Me and my husband love this place when we decide to eat in. We get the Vegetarian Pizza which is great They and the have Eli's Cheesecake which is the best ( better than cheesecake factory) the slices are thin but very rich. The fried veggies are good especially the cauliflower and zucchini We only do delivery which takes 45 min to an hour so we always plan ahead. I know a lot of the review are about the pizza but I went here with my fiance and we had pasta because we wanted something a little quicker. Overall the pasta was OK, but nothing spectacular. I had the spaghetti with garlic and olive oil and my fiance had the spinach lasagna. They do have a larger menu than I would have expected so maybe I just need to try something different. I did the find the server very friendly and attentive so that is why I gave then the extra star. i hope to try this place again and try their pizza. read more

My friends threw a little shower for me at your restaurant and we were told we couldn't serve our cake! We were the ONLY people in the dining room the whole night and there were 20 of us. What kind of place tells you you can't serve cake at a shower? Janice told the host that if we had the "private" room we could but there will be no exception made for the dining room. The favors for the shower were sprinkle donuts and we were told no one is to open them or eat them in the restaurant! Not only that we were watched like hawks when we were giving them out. The majority of us work in the restaurant and bar business and have never heard of such a thing. Many of the people in attendance order carry out/delivery from Phil's on the regular. While the server was attentive and kind your management dropped the ball big time and she should be ashamed for not being more welcoming to a party of 20. read more

We can tell the ingredients they use on their pizza is always fresh. We ordered from Phil's for the first time this past weekend. Based on a rec from a friend, we ordered a roast beef pizza with special sauce, well done. It was amazing! The roast beef gets slightly crispy and the sauce is great! We also ordered the Bruschetta pizza. The toppings are served cold and it was super delicious! Hey, this place was recommended to me by a local in Jefferson Park and WOW---what a great find! They deliver in their area or you can carry -out or eat in. Closed on Mondays. I got a take out pizza and salad and was so impressed at how good everything was. The pizza had just the right balance of sauce to crust and the ingredients were so fresh. I especially loved the flavor of the pepperoni and the crispness of the crust. The salad was much bigger than I though it would be and it was amazing. The restaurant is on a funky little corner so as you are driving down Milwaukee, make sure that you don't miss it (I drove right past it the first time). They have diagonal parking right next to the building on the side street so that was convenient to go in an pick-up my order. The staff, both on the phone and in person, were very friendly and helped me get my order the way I wanted it. I appreciate that they handled my special request with no problems. They have a small very casual dining room too so if you want to eat in, you can. This is my new favorite place to get pizza. read more

Really good neighborhood pizza place. My family has gone here for the past few years and have really enjoyed the food. Unfortunately, they have really raised prices, and cut back on service. I can't think of any other restaurant that charges for table bread. I'm assuming its in an attempt to compensate for other similar restaurants opening nearby. It isn't often that I feel compelled to write a review for a pizzeria because it tends to be a conflict of interest for me being in the pizza business... BUT, this place deserves all 5 stars I'm giving it. Their sign makes mention of their Pan & Stuffed pizzas but lets not forget about the amazing thin crust tavern style pizza. I thoroughly enjoyed the thin crust as it was very crispy, had the sweet sauce, and you can tell they spent good money on a higher quality cheese. Oh yeah and as far as the cheese goes they don't put it on sparingly... TONS of it. I had the sausage & garlic thin crust which was outstanding, and then a stuffed spinach which was better than the big name places you find downtown. Living in Chicago my entire life has exposed me to more pizza than is probably healthy to eat. I've had it all, thin, stuffed, pan, you name it and I've tried almost every major establishment and then some. Phil's Pizza should definately be on the list of classic Chicago restaurants. The traditional Italian/Sicilian owners bring family friendly values to the table along with good service and great food. First time ordering from here got wings they kinda remind me of typical bar bbq wings the bread sticks had a lot of oregano on them couldnt taste garlic or parm and the pizza was ok I had the susage bacon and mushroom... The susage had a weird after taste to it i found it kinda earthy and bitter the mushrooms were good and the bacon was hiding in the sauce but it was present in the pizza. All in all i would say little bit less then average chicago style pizza. The inners are old school with tables and tvs kinda reminds me of the good fellas fogetabouit place. I will give it another shot the staff was friendly and helpful and i will try the well done everyone keeps talking about but no susage next time and see if that does the trick. read more
