Love Phil's! I usually get one of their pizza's which are great but today I decided to try some of their other Italian fair, and was glad that I did. I had the cheese ravioli and my wife had the egg plant Parmesan. Wow ... The ravioli was nice and cheesy and the marinara sauce was delicious, the portion was a bit small but filling. The sauce was really good!!! I could have eaten that all by itself! The egg plant Parmesan was delicious and the portion was HUGE, it included spaghetti with the delicious marinara sauce, all covered in cheese! Oh man! I also had the minestrone soup which is made fresh by the owner, all nice and full of veggies.. All that is served with complimentary seasoned bread sticks. Just go and resist the best pizza in Chicago, and try some of the other Italian fair, you wont be disappointed! Yum. read more

I like this place but can't rate it higher than 3*** for now. I wanted it to be my new hidden gem but can't say that honestly. I love the family feel and the welcoming atmosphere. It's great to see the people coming in for pick-up orders often knew the people sitting at the tables. Great neighborhood spot. However, the pizza was only good; better than the chains, of course, but c'mon... this is Chicago. The bar is higher. Service was only average. There were more people in the working in the kitchen but only one waiter handling all the tables and the take-out. I guess the take-out business drives them. Excellent place!!! Sal, the owner is a really nice, cool guy! Plus, everything they offer is amazing! Their thin curst pizza is outstanding every time - I've been eating it for over 20 years. They have the best mozzarella sticks I have ever eaten(and believe me, I have sampled them across the state). Their Chicken Parmesan is phenomenal, and even their pan pizza is excellent! Plus, they've created The Big Gunner - a monster Italian Beef sandwich (or Meatball or It. Sausage) on garlic bread, red sauce, peppers and tons of melted cheese. It's big, messy and oh so delicious! Boy, I feel bad doing this, BUT....we had our party here and Phil's let us down. We had the party room booked for 4 hrs, but they only had the food out for 1 hr. They wouldn't put the appetizers out earlier as we expected, everything was served at the same time, then they cleared it all away They didn't like us much, they said we were too loud. Placed my 1st order with them this evening and went to pick it up. I ordered an order of bruschetta that was soo bad that we only ended up eating 1 piece of it and throwing the rest in the garbage it has an olive oil/vinigear tast to it that is HORRIABLE.. the pizza I ordered was the sausage mushroon, green pepper and onion and all you could taste was the green pepper. i will not be ordering from here again thanks for having me throw away $22.00. read more

I'm torn in writing this review. I found this place reading the yelp reviews. We ordered 2 cheesy garlic breads, 1 16 inch cheese, and 1 9 inch cheese. It started off just like most of the reviews say awesome. The garlic bread was a huge hit with my kids. The 16 inch thin was also amazing worthy of a 5 star review. Finally the 9 inch stuffed came, this is when the reviews fell short. The crust was burnt, the sauce had a very bad chared flavor to it me and my wife had a half of a piece of pizza and gave up. We informed the server who asked us if we wanted to speak to a boss. I'm sorry a good server goes to the boss says they didn't like the pizza and we're raving about the rest of the food and have charge removed. Nope I paid 16 bucks for a piece of burnt nasty pizza. Well for this you have lost my business this was my first and last visit it is a shame cause it was amazing food till the end. When presented an opportunity to fix a problem fix it. I would have done dessert but after I received bill and realized he didn't fix the bill after seeing how disappointed we were we left and went to duffs dogs for dessert. We ordered two pizzas. One was good the other tasted like mold. When we called to let them know they wouldn't refund the money only wanted to bring a new pizza. Knowing they would use the same toppings I had them bring cheese only. My guests already left hungry and I don't want a cheese only pizza. Very disappointed. read more

For a good 20 yrs I was a regular at Phils, on Northwest Hwy. For 10 yrs I lived a block away. I felt lucky. This was the crown prince of thin crust, extremely consistent and excellent quality-just right thickness, spice, everything. Franks Garden special and the meat lovers, both my favorites. We ate at the new Milwaukee Ave. restaurant, not sure it's 100% as good as the OLD Phil's, we went in a snowstorm driving 15 miles from our new home to do it (had to check out the new place). Sauce seemed spicier, and maybe the garlic wasn't as good, but it's still a great pizza. I think it was 5 stars on NW HWY, maybe 4 now. read more

What a great surprise this place was! They are definitely not skimpy on the pizza toppings and it's very apparent that their ingredients are fresh. We got a breaded veggie appetizer and the veggies were actually still a bit crispy, as though they were chopped recently and not fried for too long. For how reasonable the prices are and how excellent the food is, this place has definitely earned a place in the address book. read more

Phil's thin crust is great. Just about any pizza you order from Phil's will be great. We order from Phil's a few times a month... always half-cheese (for the kiddies) and half-sausage and onions. The crust is crisp, kind of like a cracker, but holds up well to their toppings. Their sides/appetizer are average. We've had their poppers, mozzarella sticks, veggie mix, and cheese fries. The pastas are also average. Their lasagna and chicken parmesan are ok. DO NOT ORDER the burgers. I ordered one last night and it was by far the worst burger I've ever had. The meat was burned, dried out, and tasted like cardboard. It was really, really bad. I guess it's my fault for ordering a burger from a pizza joint. So bottom line, GREAT PIZZA delivered to your home in about an hour. read more

Not only is this the best pizza on the northwest side of Chicago- but we held a bridal shower here for my daughter who has been enjoying Phil's pizza since she was 2! The owners are warm and it feels like going to a favorite relative's house for pizza whenever we dine in. I continue my search for great thin crust pizza, and I have found a few that I like, and some that I love. I saw the reviews on this one, and tried it out this past weekend. I wanted it to be good, and left my general neighborhood to try it out(like a 15 minute drive)..I must say that I like the sauce, but that was really about it..It wasn't the worst pizza I have had, but I don't know,,just tasted like something that was "like" a good pizza, but like the owners or chefs were making something original. The price was fair, so If I lived in the area, or had a family, I could see myself going back..Service was very good, but for me, pizza is more of a quickservice or fast food type thing, but the service was very good regardless. Also, the decor was little on the "cheap" end, which is okay for pizza places, but not sure I really cared for it..kind of like cheap hot dog place decor that you would expect. Okay experience, but I will keep looking for other places for thin crust pizza. read more

I cannot believe I have waited this long to write a review. Phil's, forgive me! My husband and I are close to clinical obsession with Phil's, even so that we had our wedding rehearsal here...and...I purchased a pizza warmer container for my husband for Christmas so that he or I can pick up the pizza, without fear that it will get cold on the 30 minute drive back to our condo :) In fact, we live down the street from a Giordano's and across the street from Gino's North and down the street from Pete's Pizza...all legit restaurants that serve great pizza, but still, it's NOT Phil's! Eating in is also a nice option. Their chicken parm is quite fantastic, as well, as their service, simple decor, and parking situation. The BYOB option is also quite amazing. No need to feel awkward about bringing in a sixer of beer instead of the typical bottle of wine here, and the best part...no cork fees. We may or may not have brought in a box of wine at one point too. A+! read more
