Im a Philz coffee lover-- I grew up going to their dt San Jose location. Throughout the years, I've been to many locations in the bay and now I love to check out their SoCal locations when I can. I tried the honey haze and it's delicious. I think my favorite is still the mint mojito but tbh all their drinks are AMAZING. This location also has pastries. It wasn't too crowded at 9 am on a weekday (some locations the line is SO LONG). Baristas are knowledgeable of the menu & made my drink fast :) I don't know Calabasas too well, but the location isn't as scenic or in a high traffic area like some other locations. Trying Philz for the first time since I usually make my own drip or espresso at home. Inside the cafe looks minimally decorated, plenty of seats. I stood infront of at the casher for a few minutes white another employee was just talking to another customer(?) and didn't even acknowledge me. The coffee tasted ok. Not bad, but nothing stood out either. Can't really taste the complexity of their coffee for a $6 coffee. Stopped in to buy a bag of beans and had an underwhelming experience. It seemed like there were only 2 people working on a Friday during the lunch hour. A few people ahead of us ordered, and when it was our turn, the guy just ignored us for about 5 minutes. Meanwhile, a line was building up behind us. When he finally helped us out, he was very curt and to the point. We left shortly after. I do like how they have a bunch of beans to choose from. And apparently you can ask them to bag beans that are not on the shelves. Not sure how that works with the shelf-life of the beans, but we didn't go that route anyway. read more

Although I've never been to this store, I always order delivery via DoorDash from this location for my office mates and I. They always deliver perfectly and in the BEST packaging ever!! The drinks from Philz are all delicious. My usual go to is the Iced Philtered Soul, sweet n creamy. I recently tried the oatmeal cookie cold brew today and it is delicious! I usually place my order through their app, then pick up within 10 minutes. My favorite drink is the Iced Coffee Rosé - it's creamy, not too sweet, with a hint of rose flavor. Coming in at #2 is the Iced Mojito, which also seems like a customer favorite as I always spy multiple drinks with the mint leaf. Finally, when I'm craving for something on the stronger side, it's a hot Tantalizing Turkish for me. Philz Coffee was... fine. My wife and I stopped by after a bike ride around the neighborhood, feeling good and caffeination-ready--only to discover there's nowhere decent to park a bike. We ended up wheeling them inside feeling like a couple bums looking for free water and public restrooms. The vibe? Minimalist, yes--but not in the cool, modernist sense. More like if a Burger King decided to sell pour-overs. The energy was low, the lighting flat, and the general mood inside felt like a Monday that never ended. I ordered the cold brew, which tasted like someone brewed drip coffee, forgot about it, then remembered and tossed it in the fridge for later. It wasn't bad, just... uninspired. Not the kind of drink you'd text a friend about. The baristas seemed like they were having a rough day, which happens--but we walked in buzzing from our ride and left feeling like someone had hit the emotional dimmer switch. This is the Philz I frequent since there aren't many locations around. The staff here is always a pleasure and they're super attentive and helpful. The food always looks delicious but the most I have done is the everything bagel which is always a hit. The ambiance is laid back but also high paced. This is my go-to coffee place out here in the almost-Conejo-Valley. First time I tried Philz was in Santa Monica, and I was like "Wait, how does this work? No lattes? No syrup?" In the years since, Philz has turned me into a bit of a java connoisseur. You pick a bean blend, tell them how sweet and creamy you want it, and they brew a cup for you by hand. The coffee itself is exquisite. The staff at this particular Philz (Calabasas) is fantastic. Young, dynamic, sweet and efficient. I'm always greeted with a smile, sometimes a little light convo. The coffee is really tasty here. I am told it is organic then roasted with different flavors I had the light and bright dancing waters (vanilla, figs, and caramel) and it was really great. Whenever I try a coffee, I try it black, maybe with a bit of Stevia in it so that I can taste the real taste of it before adding all kinds of Foams and all of that stuff. Anyway, it's a beautiful space the sky was beautiful as the sun rose and I got some writing done 6 AM! One thing I would recommend is having at least a few ceramic cups on hand for someone like me who is not going to be taking it out and would rather drink out of a real cup that keeps it warm longer instead of wasting a paper cup. I did not ask about the baked goods so I'm not sure if there were any options for me? I am a plant-based eater so I'm hoping if there aren't any now there will be some options in the future? The staff is always so friendly, accommodating and super cool to talk to. These employees actually look like they like their jobs! I generally like Philz, but this one seems poorly managed. Once, they were out of several of the blends. We literally went through almost half the menu to find one they actually had in stock. Another time, all their machines didn't work and they could only give pre-made things like the cold brew. This location opened 2 months ago (per barista) & the convenience of this shop is off the 101 S fwy. Not a busy location either! My usual will always be the iced mint mojito, but if you're on the sweeter side, I do recommend Honey Haze or Gingersnap. I'm not too big on the darker or medium blends, but have tried most off of friends tastes. Go on tiktok & they also share their secret menu! I've tried the cinnamon toast crunch! As for food.... I would say 2-3/5 stars. Your average grab & go heated up breakfast & pastries. I only overall recommend the coffee. Overall, clean, convenient, simple yet good customer service, & good location near the Erewhon Market. 10/10 always recommend Philz all over LA especially since this location is spotless! read more

Haven't had Philz coffee in more than 10 years! Enjoyed it a few times when visiting San Francisco, but was excited to see it opening in the Summit shopping center here, especially as I'm there once a month getting my hair done and am not really interested in paying the big bucks for coffee at Erewhon. For a non-regular, they have a little formula to help you order: pick your blend of coffee, hot or iced, pick your sweetness level, decide your cream level (with heavy cream being the default cream type). I usually don't have sugary coffee (which seems to defeat the purpose of going to Philz), so I got the Tantalizing Turkish blend, iced, no sugar, easy heavy cream. The cashier was super friendly and patient, as was the barista who made my drink, asked me to taste it, and then eagerly provided me a bit more heavy cream to add in. Coffee was very tasty (love the way they pour it back and forth with the ice a few times so everything is mixed together perfectly), service was very friendly. The only downsides? A medium size iced coffee was more than $5 and it took me almost 15 minutes to get it! I was concerned I would be late for my appointment. It wouldn't deter me from going, but I wouldn't stop there if I'm in a hurry. read more

Stopped by here. Looks like they only recently opened this location. Service was excellent. The two gals in the front were very kind. I ordered a winter bliss and a Mojito. The winter bliss was really good and tasted like fresh cocoa, not like the usual syrup that other places use. There's also an app for ordering ahead. But my order was ready within seconds. read more
