Coffee is great but the place is small with limited seating. This could have been a 5 star review if the venue was bigger.

I've visited Philz 3 times now and two out of the 3 times the drink was delicious! I ordered Tiramisu all visits. The second time It was just okay, and they were willing to fix it if it didn't taste to my liking, but I had to leave because I had been waiting over 10 mins for one drink. The wait times are very long, the parking lot is very small, and the inside of the coffee shop is very congested where you wait for your coffee. I had my two kiddos with me and it was hard to keep them in the shop with everyone walking in and out. The surrounding area is cute and refreshing but with Shake Shack and Mendocino Farms opening there I can just imagine how chaotic it will be with more people and less parking! I'd avoid this place on a weekend for sure! read more

First time being here, I ordered food and coffee ahead with their apps. This way, you can skip the line and earn points. Their tiramisu coffee wasn't bad, and I made a mistake and ordered it with no milk, so I went back to add some. The barista was able to make that for me. Appreciate! Customer service is great! She didn't give me a mean look . I like their heated burritos, warm and satisfying. My toddler loves them. And their banana cake was really moist and not dry! Delish. They have plenty of seating. Very excited about the new Philz location! It wasn't terrible to drive out to Freeport or Downtown to get to one but it is definitely super convenient to have one in Elk Grove now. The layout is a bit weird, you have to walk through merch to wait in line for the register and then there's a long wall in front of the baristas to wait for your drinks. It got super crowded though so it was just an awkward and tight space to wait around. There were tons of mobile order drinks just sitting on the counter while the rest of the people who ordered in person waited around. They definitely need to figure out a system to make drinks in the correct order between both in-person and mobile orders. I waited about 20 minutes for our two drinks which seemed pretty long compared to the dozen of other drinks just sitting on the counter. I do like that they have a lot of outdoor space here to hang out. My drink itself was way too sweet though! I tried out their salted caramel matcha and I love sweet drinks but this one was almost unbearable. I drank it all so I wouldn't waste it but probably would ask for less sweetener next time on a different matcha flavor or just stick to my usual Gingersnap order. read more

My friend and I stopped my Philz coffee after having lunch in the same center. It's been quite some time since I've had Philz coffee and my usual go to is their Mint Mojito, but this time I wanted to step outside of the box and try a completely different drink. I first off want to say the customer service was excellent. I was so indecisive on which drink I wanted to try so I had the cashier just pick something for me so I wouldn't hold the line up. She picked the Salted caramel matcha. I thought that would be interesting and couldn't wait to try it. Since it was extremely busy if wa a little bit of a wait, since they are brand new opening. There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, which was taken all up lol. It was that busy and people enjoying there beverages. Ita really cute inside too. I get my drink and couldn't wait to try my salted caramel matcha. Let me tell you when I say it is so good!! I wanted to order another one. It was creamy sweet, but not too sweet and it was creamy. I'm sort of in a quest to try Matcha at every coffee and boba shop, if they have it on the menu. I was on my way to pick up my lunch from Mendocino Farms and saw a big sign for MATCHA CHA-CHA-CHA and it was luring me into Philz Coffee. There were about 6 people standing in line on a Saturday afternoon and I thought I would see how fast the line will move. It wasn't too bad and it took about 20 minutes to get my drink. I ordered the Classic Matcha with oak milk and medium sweetness. The drink is beautiful and the barista told me to stir before the first sip. Strong Matcha taste (I like). It was still a little too sweet for me so maybe I will try light sweetness the next time. The Strawberry Mint Matcha and Salted Caramel Matcha looks really good too! This is a new location in the the Elk Grove Village Shopping Center with a ton of restaurants. Parking is limited. The interior is a good size but not many tables and chairs. read more

They are so busy even though their drinks don't taste like they should after being open a bit over a couple weeks now. Despite not all the businesses being open in the shopping center at this time, parking is still challenging. You'll have better luck if you drive an EV though; spots have always been open for EVs when I've been here. I was first introduced to Philz coffee over a decade ago when I lived in the bay for a few years and have always ordered the Mint Mojito from Philz. I've been trying to stop by this location near me several times, but the lines are always ridiculously long, so I did a mobile order rather than wait in the line. The good news is the coffee was ready by the stated time; the bad news is it tasted nothing like the Mint Mojito should. It wasn't watery, but it was not sweet or creamy at all. It did have some hint of mint. Based off my experience of going to the other two nearby Philz locations soon after they opened and from reading some of the reviews for this location, I knew my drink likely wouldn't be up to par but gave it a shot anyways. Can't speak to the service, since we just grabbed the order and left. Despite the disappointing drink, I'm pretty excited they expanded to reach my hometown. New Philz Coffee in Elk Grove, opened July 8, 2026! Parking: Free, but limited since the surrounding shopping center is still under construction. The grand opening drew a huge crowd. I waited about 15 minutes just to reach the register. Free Wi-Fi is available, and if you join the Philz Rewards program, you'll get a free drink size upgrade on your first order. The Philz app also lets you order ahead for pickup. There are 2 unisex restrooms that require an entry code. I highly recommend the Mint Mojito Coffee. It's incredibly smooth with a refreshing mint aroma, still my favorite! I was surprised by some of their unique drinks too, like Yuzu Twist Lemon Tea, Tiramisu, Iced Coffee Rose, and Oatmeal Cookie. They also offer snacks like yogurt, cheese, cookies, and muffins, plus burritos and sandwiches. This is a new location that open in Elk Grove. I love coming here to get there ice mint mojito iced coffee and I like using two different coffee beans and I like substituting with almond milk and extra creamy foam and as well with honey and muddle with mint. . I also got to try out your pina colada croissant which is really good it has your pineapple bits inside and it was different. Also the outside was filled with lots of almond. . I got to try out there peanut butter cup cold brew and it was amazing taste like a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup with some chocolate and peanut butter. . Overall if you're looking for a good coffee and pour overs and Elk Grove area philz coffee is one of them and I love stopping you here when I'm in the area. I first met Philz 12 years ago in downtown San Jose across the street from SJSU. It was 2014 and that's when my coffee addiction started thanks to Philz and I also credit Philz for getting me through my undergrad degree. The first drink I fell in love with was the iced Ecstatic sweet and creamy, and I still get the Ecstatic today but now medium, medium since I like to taste my coffee now instead of it being on the sweeter side. All my fellow mint mojito lovers have always asked "why is the Ecstatic your favorite?" My answer is: it's dark, rich, creamy and can keep me up all night-- can your mint mojito do that? I don't think so. But fast forward a decade, in order for my coffee to keep me up all night, I gotta be double fisting two larges for that even to be a possibility. I can't tell you how much joy it's brought me that Philz came to Elk Grove, during my suburbia chapter of life. What a beautiful built out location with plenty of seating. Menu offered a full range of drinks and bites. Service was prompt despite how busy they were. This Philz location stacks up with other locations I've been to! Friendly service and delicious drinks. Got my favorite drink, the iced tiramisu medium sweet and creamy, and it was delicious! I don't know what all these negative reviews are regarding the drinks being watery. I think people who don't frequent Philz don't realize that they are different than your average coffee shop. They don't do your classic latte or cappuccino, but instead make coffee/cold brew based drinks with customizable amounts of sweetness and creaminess. So if you get a medium creamy drink it's going to be less milk than a normal latte, which I personally like because it tastes lighter and lets the coffee stand out more. Finally, a Philz in Elk Grove! This storefront is smaller than the Freeport and Midtown locations. They just opened this week, so I was a little surprised they weren't more fully staffed this morning, especially knowing it would likely be busy. I got there when they opened this morning and there were already several customers inside. I probably should've placed a mobile order instead because it took a little while before my drink was made. The staff was incredibly friendly but you could tell they were hustling as mobile orders continued coming in while more customers trickled through the door. I ordered my usual, a Mint Mojito but the drink wasn't quite up to the quality I'm used to from other Philz locations, but I also understand this was only their second day open, and being short-staffed likely played a role. The presentation was pretty though. I'm still really happy to have a Philz in Elk Grove, and I'm confident the team will find their rhythm as they settle in. Totally surprised that I saw a handful of patrons inside Philz here on EG Blvd while heading to Mendocino Farms next door for lunch. Pleased to see Mara, the former manager at the Freeport location, running this outlet. Nothing's changed...great specialty coffee (my fave Iced Mint Mojito), sweet and creamy. Sammy the shift lead was an amazing host and greeter, as were the "baristas" making the drinks. Only negative is the interior space is about 1/4 the size of the one on Freeport Blvd. Aside from that, welcome to Elk Grove, Philz and Mendo...and YardHouse and Chik-Fil-A! The Philz Coffee franchise is my favorite coffee franchise. So I was glad to hear that Philz was coming to Elk Grove. Unfortunately there are a few things that dampened my first visit. Just finding parking is a struggle. There are a lot of spaces that are occupied with construction materials. So if you're in a rush, you might find it stressful just to park. I expected the line to be long, but I thought it moved along quickly. Another thing I wish they had was napkins available to the customers. When I received my drink at the counter, it spilled down the side. I walked around the store hoping to find napkins, but there were none. So I had to come back to the busy counter to ask for napkins. Inside is cool looking but not as big as other locations I've been to. However there are a lot of places outside to sit. I will return, using the app to bypass the line. read more

Stopped by the new Philz Coffee in Elk Grove one day after opening day and, as expected, the line was out the door. I was excited they're finally here, so the wait didn't bother me. My husband and I ordered a jalapeño bagel and a blueberry muffin, which came out almost immediately. I had the iced Tiramisu, and he ordered a hot Tesora Mocha. The temperature was just right, and the barista offered to make any adjustments if needed, but both drinks were great as they were. The coffee took about 20 minutes, which was understandable for opening day. It was definitely loud inside, but that's to be expected with so many people excited to check out the new location. I went to Philz when it first opened...needless to say the wait was astronomically loooong! All to find out that it wasn't for me. The staff was friendly and they have so much to choose from and nothing of what I wanted. The place was packed so sitting was limited. It was...not for me. The first time I stopped by, they were not taking on-app orders, so that was a bit annoying, but I get it. It was packed that particular day, so they didn't want to be overwhelmed. The other day I went, they were taking on-app orders, however, their wait was 20 mins. Which was fine, so I decided to order. Well, I get there around 25 mins later, and my drink was still not ready. Like I said, this city is glad they are here, so there was again a ton of people haha. About another 10-15 mins later, I finally get my drink. It was good as usual, so no complaints on the drink. I hope they figure out a system to take care of us crazy Elk Grove people more quickly, because they'll be busy everyday haha. Oh, the inside is not that big, so don't expect to be able to find a table inside with your group. I think there's only 2 tables? If you're by yourself, there's seating along the window. Oh and parking... good luck find a close parking, you'll need to walk haha. All the stores are not even open yet in this plaza, and parking is horrible. Oh, a side note... Philz Coffee was good overall. The coffee and menu selection were enjoyable, and the shop had a lively, casual atmosphere. However, it was extremely crowded during my visit, which made the space feel packed and less relaxing than expected. The biggest issue was the wait time. It took quite a while to receive the order, and the staff appeared overwhelmed by the number of customers. They were working hard, but the location seemed understaffed or unprepared for the rush. I would return because the overall quality was good, but I would try to visit during a less busy time. I was lucky enough to go to Philz soft opening in EG! As a huge Philz fan already, I have been waiting for this location to open!! It did not disappoint! The Philtered Soul is my fave and it was perfect as always! The staff were friendly and energetic. The store is open, with lovely colors and a totally different vibe from Midtown which is so fun. Well staffed with the kindest baristas who take the time to put out perfect drinks. Kudos to their manager Mara for running this highly anticipated, bustling location, and always takes the time to say hi and check in on guests! The staff didn't even seem that busy, and there were a couple of other people waiting a long time too. Also staff seems to be only accommodating when receiving bigger tips LOL. Me and the better half went to Philz Coffee since we're always checking out new coffee spots and comparing who has the best white mocha. After waiting in the long line (totally understandable since it's new), we noticed they don't offer a white mocha at all, which was really disappointing. I realized this is exactly how it was when we visited New York last year... no white mochas anywhere except Starbucks, which is super lame. I since then figured that white mochas were a California thing, but I guess not. With that said, we probably won't be going back. The ice coffee's were okay... we also tried two of their breakfast items, a burrito and a sandwich. They were also okay... a little tier lower than Starbucks' quality, and definitely not on the same tier as Peet's Coffee. I have tried many Philz locations, and although this one is on the newer side, I have had 4 less than stellar experiences. On a couple occasions the beans had a slightly burnt taste which I have not really experienced before from Philz. I understand they may still be figuring it out. I do hope that they find the staff that will care about the product that they are providing to customers. read more

Went first day grand opening and was pleasantly surprised that I was able to order mobile app. It was around noon. Looked busy inside with a line and patrons waiting for orders. However when I arrived it wasn't ready at the stated time but it was maybe just another 5 minutes waiting after I checked in for my order. I have been to other Philz coffee in the SF Bay Area in multiple locations. My favorite is the Estatic and Rose. Mint mojito is the cult favorite. Unfortunately my drink was watery (sweet and creamy) and I barely tasted the coffee flavor as I had at other locations. I asked them to remake it and they kindly did but it tasted the same... (The barista seemed to be unsure what to do or how to fix the watery issue and asked the supervisor? What to do). I just didn't want to make it a hassle for them anymore. It's their first day so I'll just wait for them to work out their kinks. I'll try again another time.. Hope this feedback helps. read more

Lots of spaces to park so far though not all of the storefronts are currently built. Once inside , it looks cute- had to wait a bit in line behind one person because the register person was making/heating up the food for other customers. It took us 12 minutes to get a small and large regular coffee and it was a little over 11 dollars. Coffee tasted okay. The pastries didn't look bad at all but we weren't feeling the calories. No one's fault but ours... Staff making the drinks were too busy to look up and even say hi or thank you. There are locks/combo codes on the bathroom doors which makes it a pain having to stand in line and try to grab someone's attention for a code. The 3 times I have mobile ordered from there I have asked for my iced coffees to be creamy and sweet. I am not sure why the coffees taste watered down, not creamy at all or sweet enough. I told the barista and she said next time ask for extra creamy and extra sweet, well those options are not available in the app to add. Rude! read more

One of my daughters is an alumni of Philz at downtown Sac, so I was excited to get my fix here in Elk Grove. It's been about a week since grand opening, but it was still a little busy. So the wait isn't too bad, but we make our orders (very specific regarding creaminess/sweetness on the tiramisu and pb cup flavors. The cashier clarified my name for the order, so I was a little worried and listened while waiting for any names that would sound 'similar' to my name. After waiting nearly 30 mins.. and noticing that customers that came after we did already picked up their orders.. I went and asked about my order, and it could not be found. They looked up/asked time of order, and clarified the order. I don't think they 'found' the correct order, as I had to again clarify we had large, and tiramisu was iced. They said they would prepare rapidly, which they did. However, what we got was VERY sweet. I don't think they found the actual order, but rather tried to quickly resolve and get an order quickly. So now instead of light sweetness, we got overly sweet, and instead of creamy, it was certainly less creamy. I'm glad they tried to quickly resolve the issue, but I'm still a little frustrated/disappointed with this experience. I will still visit in the future, I just hope for future and others, that if this type of error occurs, that staff could more carefully ensure the order is correct. read more
