The baristas are very nice and will customize it based on your preferences. Iced coffee rose. This is definitely my favorite. The rose cream on top is a nice touch to the iced coffee. Unique and delicious! Iced Tesora. This is one of their original drinks. Would order again as it has a medium boldness but super smooth and you do get a hint of the vanilla. Ginger snap. Not bad but but I'm biased because I'm not much of a spices and nutmeg person. Would try it next time hot instead of cold. Food is not bad. Order the ricotta and jam toast or avocado toast. There's nothing better than a good cup of coffee. While I lived in LA, I would go up to SF a lot and get Philz and then I frequented it when they opened in LA. After moving back to Chicago, I missed it. I was beyond excited when I heard they were opening in Evanston and all over Chicago. I love the mint mojito, avocado toast and the chai latte is delicious too. The atmosphere is relaxed and a perfect place to hang out and work or talk with a friend. Good coffee, I had the mint mojito latte and it was excellent! Not too sweet either. I got it with oat milk because I am lactose intolerant. The latte is a little pricey was like $5 for a small. So definitely not a place I would frequent. I also don't appreciate these places charging extra for dairy free milk. The vibe at Philz is so nice & cozy with a good amount of seating, great communal areas as well as lots of smaller tables for studying or work! The staff here was super friendly & loved how they were focused on making your coffee just how you like it! Even asking if you'd like to take a sip to be sure it's sweet enough or how you like it. Love how they wanted to be sure every cup is perfection! We had the lesaro (which was nice & smooth & just sweet enough, as well as strong enough to give this mamma a good wake up) we also had a bagel and a cheese & chive scone (both yummy especially the scone which was soft & warm!). Our cousin had the gingersnap which she said was super yummy & tasted like a gingerbread cookie & we also ordered a mint mojito to go! GUYS get the Mint Mojito! It's delicious! It was also interesting to see how at Philz you also get to choose your roast & they'll grind your coffee fresh right before they make your drink. I'm a big fan of Philz. Although their coffee is a little pricier, I love how everything is customizable and all of the special coffees they offer. The employees seem to really love working there, and I also appreciate that they have you try your coffee to make sure you like it. It can take a little bit more time when it's crowded, but using their app to order ahead for pick up has been seamless and efficient. I'm already looking forward to my next visit. read more

Love that there's a Philz close by to me; I think I frequent the place about 2-3 times a week. Definitely have an affinity to the mint mojito, which is my favorite, but in all fairness, I did try a Tesora Mocha - nice chocolate balanced with the coffee, chai - nice spiciness & creaminess, and a regular Tesora coffee with light cream & sugar. I'm a little addicted to their avocado toast with sliced egg - slight sprinkle of sea salt, pepper, and za-atar, yum! I overcame my avocado allergy this past year and have been enjoying every opportunity to eat avocados after not having eaten them for over ten years. Today I ordered the bagel sandwich and subbed in red pepper hummus over the cream cheese (it's got a little spice to it) on a toasted everything bagel, sliced of cucumber & tomato. The space is nice and clean - communal tables with outlets for your laptops, bench seating by the window, coaches, high tops, and my personal favorite - sitting on stools with a long desk area looking out on Oak Street. If you like pretentious over priced gimmicks this is the place for you. Because each cup is made individually the line can back up quickly and the process can take a while. I prefer cream and sugar in my coffee done my way but here they have to put it in your coffee. If it's not correct you ask for an adjustment an adjustment. A second cup a starts the whole process over again. Very limited pastries, at knock down prices. Are we in New York. Minimum seating with stools at small tables that are so low you feel like a six year old again. I wouldn't set foot in this place again. Who are they doing this for. I absolutely love Philz! Everyone who works there is so wonderful and so welcoming! There is one barista who is absolutely incredible and wrote down things for me to try on a post-it note, just to be lovely and helpful! They have delicious coffee, great ambiance, and amazing playlists. I love their Iced Esctatic, Mocha, and Mint Majesty, all sweet and creamy with oat milk! Today was our first time at Philz in Evanston. Laid back atmosphere and very nice staff who were very helpful. The bad news: we were just there and each ordered the Gingersnap medium roast. There was WAY WAY too much clove in it. It was undrinkable, so we threw them away and went to Backlot on Central in Evanston. I'm sure the drink would've been great if not for the excessively added spice. We'll try them again in the future, but we'll try something different. read more

This new Philz is great! I love their coffee, I've been to a few other locations. So glad they opened one up in Evanston, it totally fits the vibe of the neighborhood. My favorite drink is the mocha tesora. All the blends are good, though. They keep the menu pretty simple, and they do everything from scratch. The baristas really care about each drink they make. The entire staff is warm, friendly and accommodating. They really want the customers to enjoy their experience. I will definitely be back to this location! read more

The store staffs are absolutely delightful. you can customize as much as you like, and I love that they put cardamom in everything. coffee cup lid is compostable, for this alone I would have given 5 starts. but... Bad, I saw them using plastic cups pouring 250 degrees hot water to make warm drink. The chain, really need to make a change for this, or I will not go back, bit sad. Plastic with hot water is very harmful, including the so called BPA free ones. the ones were used aren't even BPA free. I will change the rating if Philz change to not using plastic.
