Visiting Long Beach for the weekend, stopped in at Philz coffee. Second time EVER having a coffee from Philz. The location is nice and clean, there was a short line and I ordered my coffee. I forgot the name of it but it had hazelnut and honey and my friends told me to order it creamy. It was ready quickly and the lady making the coffee told me to tase it and if I didn't like anything about it she would make it over for me. I thought that was a nice touch. It was strong and really hot, just the way I like it! Side note: really cute house for sale on the same street, in case you want to live in walking distance!

Philz, you got me. I uhm. I ordered a few things thinking I was getting some fancy schmancy experience based on your photos and descriptions. My SO that I surprised with a mint mojito? You just threw 1/4 of a cup of mint leaves into his coffee cup and called it a day. The bacon breakfast burrito was one of the smallest ones I've had to date, for a wild price. Please, wash your potatoes before adding them to burritos. Thank you for the packet of cholula hot sauce. The cinnamon bun lacked cinnamon, and was dry. I'm so embarrassed. I do think as a saving grace the coffee here as a base is good though. Just stuck to basics.

Coffee was great! I recommend their seasonal drinks whenever you can give them a try! Service is always wonderful. Baristas at Philz are my favorite! The vibe at the 2nd street location is always good! Super busy most days with outdoor seating as an option too.

I haven't been to Philz coffee in over five years and I decided to come back because I saw they have a specialty coffee. I got their new banana coffee and it was extremely sweet. I did adjust the sweetness level online when I was ordering my coffee but it was still a lot for me. I thought I was going to like it because I do remember their coffee being on the stronger side but I have only tried the mint mojito so maybe I need to go back and try other things.

Had an ice rose coffee with my friend. The place was full so seating was extremely limited. The coffee wasn't as good as other times. It wasn't blended as good, all the sweetness was at the bottom. We were the only ones getting coffee at the moment so it wasn't an issue with being busy on that end.

Heading to Philz for coffee :)

March 2025 Everything we ordered was very good. Cold Brew, Ether coffee, banana bread & coffee cake muffin. I really enjoyed my cold brew with creamy almond milk. Service was pleasant & quick. The ambiance was ok.

Ordered coffee here then came back the next day for an everything bagel. Bagels aren't always good in the west coast so this was impressive. They gave 4 cream cheese cups too! Coffee is decent. My sister and I both got iced drinks. Not bad! They do have mobile ordering which is much quicker since they seem to get a lot of orders. We were staying super close so we were able to walk here. Otherwise, it's parallel parking.

Perfect corner spot to hangout with friends over coffee, snacks or doing some work or just simply enjoying life by watching folks walk by. It's definitely a cool inviting vibe place. This use to be where I hung out with my kid on Sunday later afternoon when he just a baby. The coffee here is simple delish but sometime, depending on the barista, but majority of the time, wonderful. Staff are nice and parking can be found on the street or behind - but you have to pay for it. Or you can go couple blocks away and it's free in the residential area. Glad I stopped by for a good cup of Philz.

These Philz Coffee employees at this particular location gave me an assorted experience in energy. Overall if I were to give it a clever title as a reference I'd refer to it as "moody with a cloudy chance of bad attitudes." I would say at least four of the staff members that was either verbally engaged with or seen engaging with another customer were visibly in a sour space. If you are sensitive to low vibrational environments or perhaps neurodivergent I'd say that this Philz Coffee location's team is the kind that you go in with a playlist of affirmations, good vibes music or an inspirational podcast. I personally was treated like an ATM by the male cashier who took my order he had no feeling and was cold, frigid, and unkind in his transaction with me. He was rather blatant about scouting my every move around the cafe it felt as if I was being stalked and harassed. Whenever I'd go near the restroom area he would send the female worker who made my drink to come within view of the area to watch me and whenever I walked away from the area the said employee would leave. Now as for the drinks that we got it was absolutely delicious and tasted of quality! For the point of reference, we got an Iced and Hot Rose Coffee with oatmilk for the cream. I would rate it a 5/5. It was refreshing the ingredients tasted fresh and it was perfectly sweetened. The female employee who made my drink did an excellent job and although she was standoffish in her communication that made speaking with her a strange moment I appreciate her providing customer service and really caring about making coffee just right. It turned out so tasty that I went back just to let her know that I had gratitude for her hard work and that I wanted to acknowledge that. As for the space, it was a bit crowded for my taste but I would not let that deter you from giving this place a try. If you intend to do any remote or creative digital work I'd recommend charging tech devices beforehand as this place is scant of electrical outlets. The bathroom area was fairly unclean and unkempt the staff could make greater effort in keeping up with this area. Last but not least you kinda have to get creative with finding an acceptable yet safe place to park so take your time when doing so.

Is this location still open? The app says it's is closed and I tried to call and there is no answer.

Yes, it should still be open. I've been twice recently (like two weeks ago) and they were still open for pickup/take-out :)

Just curious, will there be a Uber eats, Postmates, or Grub Hub for Philz Coffee?

Philz Coffee has its own proprietary app. It's called "Philz Coffee" on the Apple App Store & on Google Play. You can order for pick up on their app, but not delivery as of right now.

We decided to go with a Hot Cinnamon Dulce Latte and an Iced Blueberry Lavender Latte. While waiting, there were plenty of chairs, tables, a comfy couch and even a bar area to sit and relax. Tons of board games, books and wonderfully mellow music helps make the experience feel comforting and inviting. Our drinks were prepared quickly and shouted at the coffee bar for pickup. The presentation was great, but the flavors, out of this world! The Cinnamon Dulce Latte was OUTSTANDING. So good, in fact, that my girlfriend stole it from me! Not to worry, her Blueberry Lavender Latte was also top-notch, with a smooth, not-to-sweet flavor combination. Friendly staff (which comes with occasional karaoke renditions from the Bluetooth speakers), a chill vibe and outstanding drinks make this a top spot in the area for hardcore coffee lovers. I started with a cup of their beef and barley soup. My wife and I both make this at home from scratch and we're both impressed by theirs. My wife took a taste of mine and instantly ordered her own. Very rich and flavorful. I kept looking at photos of their take on chicken and waffles and knew I had to try it. Seriously epic and was good as it looked. They coated the chicken in a chili rub that gave it a sweet and spicy flavor when paired with their maple syrup. Served on top of a waffle and topped with an egg. I loved it and would probably order again on my next visit. My wife had the American plate which was your classic eggs, bacon, potatoes, and sourdough toast combo. High quality ingredients elevated it beyond your typical diner food. Drinks were great too. I had their house made bloody mary which had a nice kick to it. My wife had their brunch version of a Corpse Reviver cocktail. After our meals were done we finished with an Irish coffee since everyone was ordering them. TLDR; It's expensive, and not worth the routine visit, but worth the one-time stop in to experience the festivities. The Miracle pop-up at The Ordinarie is somehow even more decorated and extravagant than you'd expect from a seasonal pop-up. The line looks long outside, as there are no reservations, but it moves quickly since they hold everybody to a pretty strict 2-hour time limit. The drinks are good, the cups are cute, and everyone is festive. It's an all-around fun experience.  I think because of this, you do pay a premium price tag for food and drinks that are just good or okay. I think it's something that is worth the visit if you've never been and you enjoy getting into the Christmas spirit. I think that outside of the pop-up, The Ordinarie is a fun spot to check out in Long Beach. It't not a pillar of the food scene if you're a tourist, but it is a good, late night spot if you work in the industry nearby. They have a great late-night menu with a killer smash burger.

Sausages didn't seem homemade but were very tasty. I ordered the Eggs Noni, which is a version of Eggs Florentine, plus a side of bacon. The Eggs Noni came on two pretty hard small sourdough discs. I had difficulty cutting through the crust with a knife. There is a lot of cayenne in their hollandaise sauce, not my favorite version. The thick slice of tomato was the highlight. Side of bacon $6 for two measly pieces - overcooked and too crunchy. I could tell the bacon would have been good if it was more on the meaty/chewy side. This came with a potato pancake which was like mashed potatoes mixed with cheese and then fried. Service was okay, I think because it was pretty busy. They may need more staff to help the servers with drink refills and to check in more frequently. Lastly, our table was very wobbly and we had to fix it with sugar packets otherwise our drinks would have toppled.

The menu has a ton of really detailed options, each drink with its own depth. The menu changes seasonally but what doesn't change is the smoked old fashioned - a must-order. They smoke your drink in a glass container using applewood chips; it's quite a show and it also does make the drink much more enjoyable. Ask the bartender and they can also help guide you to a drink - I've done it a couple of times and always pleasantly surprised. Next up, the food! The hummus was very flavorful and paired with an amazing fluffy pita bread. The truffle fries were solid but the plate was HUGE, definitely needs a friend to share. The Nashville wings are the star of the show. I cannot stress this enough, this is worth a DRIVE for. The seasoning really does remind you of Howlin' Rays (the highest compliment) and the chicken is extremely crispy yet insanely juicy. The pickles and ranch that it comes with pairs so well. Do note that they are tossing it in pork fat, which enhances the depth but also makes it a little greasy at the end. I also wished they'd warn you this and offer to order it without it; especially for those who don't eat pork or for those trying to cut some calories. There's a happy hour menu too!!! The menu has changed, the chef has definitely changed and service has unfortunately gone down. First off they cut a good portion of the menu and the physical design is not the easiest to read. (that's not really a problem tbh but it's something to note) What is the problem are the following: Ordering food for 3 took 20 minutes for servers to come, get food, and water + drinks we ordered. food took almost 45 minutes to arrive at the table. I get the kitchen makes a lot of stuff but this is crazy. at this point we were here for over an hour without eating. Not only were the orders wrong but also food portions were noticeably smaller. Credit due here, they fixed that (ofc which takes an extra time). Final straw here: To get someone's attention, get the bill, then for them to come get the bill, pay, and give us our cards back took: TWENTY MINUTES. Just to pay. tldr: food prices went up, staff not attentive, food still decent but different chef. Food is noticeably saltier. I also had the Yuzu Mocktail and it was very good. Now let me get into SERVICE!! Chandler was amazing!!! Some of the best service I've had in a long time. And I'm a server, so I have high expectations lol. Extremely personable, funny, and observant. We were celebrating my nephew's first birthday, but my daughter also a had a birthday a week ago so my friend brought her a gift.. he brought out two birthday cakes. It was so sweet. He was just great and made our experience that much better. Thank you so much Chandler. Also to the manager for accommodating us with a nice table outside. The patio was very cute. We loved it. What a great experience for all of us. Will definitely be back!
