Steelhead coffee is a super cute coffee stand. It's an outdoor style stand so it's feels like the perfect wholesome stop on a warm SoCal day. Since it's more of a stand than a shop their selection is a bit limited. They offer some basic but worthwhile coffee options including drip, basic lattes, and cold brew. There are few steelhead locations that market special lattes on their Instagram. This location doesn't have the means to recreate those recipes. However, if you're looking for a quick and decent iced coffee, this steelhead location is a promising option. Service is decent. There's usually only one barista so sometimes you have to wait a little bit for your drinks. However, the ambiance is worth it. It's part of the SteelCraft food garden so there is plenty of nice patio and outdoor seating. This also makes it pet friendly for your furry friends! If you're stopping by during the week they have plenty of street parking as well as a small parking lot in the back as well as across the street. Clean, modern setup, nothing too fancy but comfortable enough to sit if you want. Staff was friendly and quick; no long waits even on a busy morning. Americano was great. Nice temp, cup didn't leak, solid flavor without being bitter. Hit the spot perfectly. Buddy had a latte that he said was great. All in all, a reliable high-quality coffee stop in the area. It was such a beautiful day and we saw this safe and had to stop. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful they even took the time to ask if it was my first time there. This is a pretty cool little community of eateries made out of steel shipping containers, hense the name, "Steelhead." I had the Chai Latte which was enjoyable. It came out at the right temperature and I didn't wait for it very long. There were two people working, one person to take the order and the other who makes the drink. This place always catches my eyes when I drive on Long Beach Blvd. so I was super excited to try it with my sister! The Iced Chai Latte was good! I didn't think it was too milky, and the chai flavor was great. The Iced Matcha Latte wasn't good. Judging by the color of it, you already know it will just taste like straight milk or milk with a pinch of matcha. This one tasted like only whole milk. To be fair, it is a coffee place, not a matcha place. My sister said she noticed our drinks were majority whole milk when the employee was making them. The coffee place is so cute! It's super eye catching when you drive on Long Beach Blvd. I would pass it all the time and think about trying it. There's a simple menu, cute merchandise, mugs, and coffee grounds. There's plenty of seating in SteelCraft, and there's tons of other food businesses. The employee was so sweet! She asked if I wanted cinnamon on my Iced Chai Latte, and she made sure if we wanted whole milk with our drinks. I would come here again though! I ordered the iced matcha latte with oat milk and simple syrup (the barista said it does not come sweetened) but it was not good. It just tasted like watery milk.. i would not recommend it based on the taste and price of it. I did go back and ask if i could just get something else and the barista was super nice and understanding and even offered to remake it! I declined the offer for matcha remake and then got an iced vanilla chai and it was ok.. their chai is not bad it was just on the sweet side. This coffee stand is good, I ordered the orange blossom latte and the sticky bread croissant thing(?), which is kind of like a sweet croissant. The barista gave her recommendation for my drink, which was good, she was great! The drink itself was alittle more on the milky side; that is the only reason why I didn't give this place five stars. Just to make sure I was not tripping, I asked my friend what he thinks about this place without telling him my experience and the first thing he said was their drinks are a little too milky. Maybe they can improve that. This still craft location has shared seating outside, so you will not be able to sit inside. They also have a small selection of pastries but I usually just get my matcha latte. There are three Steelhead Coffee locations in Long Beach, CA. We went to the one in SteelCraft! We visited the bungalow coffee shop that serves a fun experience and good coffee. SteelCraft, whether it's the one in Long Beach or Bellflower, is a great place to hang out, eat some food, or enjoy a cup of coffee. We went for the same drink. It was a rainy winter, and we both noticed their seasonal Peppermint Mocha, which we got hot and added oat milk. Because we both require a strong hint of coffee, we got our mocha lightly sweetened. The drink was nice and comforting. Definitely a drink that made sense for the rain. Luckily we got it lightly sweetened as the drink was still sweet from the peppermint syrup. The minty taste was certainly relaxing as well. This week we're doing a doughnut emoji! We wanted to highlight @thecaffeinatedkitchen and they may get their own review. Caffeinated Kitchen bakes vegan doughnuts and are distributed to different coffee shops around Southern California. We're not exaggerating when we say these are probably one of the best doughnuts we ever tried. They're also perfectly paired with every coffee we purchase. So if you see doughnuts and find out they're from Caffeinated Kitchen. GET IT IMMEDIATELY! Steelhead Coffee is definitely a fun place to explore as you're near a small plaza with different food options. So you can get yourself a coffee while exploring other spots. Steelhead Coffee has good flavor. However, we didn't see much of a signature option from the SteelCraft location. We were trying to find what makes the coffee shop unique, differentiating from different spots. Their biggest thing is probably the location. We will certainly try a different location to see if they spark something special that lets their customers experience Steelhead's uniqueness in coffee and not just entering a coffee place and buying coffee! Other than that, Steelhead Coffee is certainly worth exploring. The flavors are still there and their customer service was amazing. We came around 10:30 AM on a Sunday, short line and wait. We decided to order off their Special menu and got the Irish Cream Mocha and Earth Day Matcha as well as a Stawberry Cheesecake Croissant. My boyfriend and I enjoyed our drinks and pastry in the seating area that was shaded, but also had a good amount of sun. We were able to watch the basketball game as they streamed it on the TVs. The window where you order is on the sidewalk facing the street. I saw a few customers park right in front and quickly got their orders. It's great for pick up and go coffee! Seen this place on the way to my TSA PRE appointment, had to pop by. I met John, he was the cashier, super friendly, super personable. I asked what were his recommendations for first timers. He recommended the vanilla latte and told me they make the vanilla in house with the vanilla beans from Madagascar!! How cool is that!? I also got a blueberry donut he said it's one of their best sellers and they don't always have it but when they do it's a fan favorite. The vanilla latte was delicious, I loved how it wasn't too sweet. It was a bit strong too! The blueberry donut tasted more like a blueberry muffin BUT LIKE a well crafted blueberry muffin! It was delicious, and moist. Not too sweet and the blueberry glaze was flavorful. 10/10 definitely recommend. They have a whole bunch of cute cups and coffee mugs. First time at the Steelhead food hall. Ordered an 8oz cappuccino for $4.50. The espresso is strong, as I would expect. Only two gripes is that the lid doesn't fit, so I wasn't able to close my coffee cup for the car. Also, the price is on the steep side given the quantity. However, the coffee has quality. What a great find!! I'd say get here early...or at least before 11 am because when the adjacent food places open up for lunch it gets crowded quickly. This is a wonderful place to meet some friends for coffee. Plenty of shaded picnic tables if there are a few of you or even some counter-type seating if you're by yourself or just one person. The coffee is terrific and the people that work there are super cool. This is one of the best places for coffee I've experienced in the LA area. You can't go wrong here. Overall, very high price for high volume, but medium quality. Got the kombucha on tap $5 / $6 large Today was elderberry. It is ok, little sour, not smooth, about similar to a homemade kombucha. Not recommended. Perhaps the other flavors are better though. Update: I just tried it with a greasy and salty burger and it was quite a great compliment to the food. Recommended for pairing with heavy foods, not for drinking solo. I increased my rating +1 star for this Latte $5 / $6 Husband rates it 4.5/5 inoffensive, large quantity, smooth. I rate it as 3/5. Microfoam was good, but very low on espresso to milk volume, and it's smooth but not complex espresso and diluted in a lot of milk. Maybe increasing the amount of espresso for the milk volume may help. May renew this review after trying more items. I've been coming here for over a year and just realized I hadn't written a review! My bad!! The coffee here is great from the straight espresso to the fancier drinks, my favorite is the Cortado but I love the Vanilla Latte too. They also make seasonal or specialty drinks that are really a treat if you want more than just a caffeine hit. The line can be pretty long on the weekends or evenings but I usually get lucky and go when they aren't too bad. Best time early on the weekends and mid-morning or afternoons during the week. The staff are all super friendly and especially helpful if you can't decide what to order. Everything is very clean; they have plastic guards up and everyone is masked and gloved. They are located in Steelcraft and face Long Beach Blvd. So, if you are missing your craft coffee because you don't want to go inside a building this Steelhead location is perfect! I've seen the lines for this place, so I was definitely anxious to try it out. When I arrived, the line was pretty long, so I went and ordered my waffle and came back. Perfect timing! There was only one person waiting for their coffee, so I stepped up and was immediately greeted by a nice lady who asked what I would like. I told her that I hadn't been there before and described my usual coffee drinks of choice when she asked. Finally, she said that the Irish Toddy would be perfect, but that they'd also add some Ghiradelli chocolate to it! The barista actually brought my coffee out to me, since I had walked to the other side to grab my waffle. Such a nice gesture! I loved the pretty swirls he put in the foam. I asked them to make it a bit strong for me, which they did. It wasn't the absolute best that I've had, but it was good. I loved that I could taste both the Irish cream and the Ghiradelli in it. Totally fine coffee, I think the location is better than the experience. Parking is a nightmare as it is with all places in this little steel craft center. If you go during the day when the coffee shop is open, on a weekday, there will be parking behind the center. Otherwise you will probably have to parking the neighborhood and walk. I found it was pretty expensive for the quality available. 3.5 for a drop is expensive and if you're charging that much there should be a reason - maybe flex that the beans are fancy or something. She just pumped the coffee from a little office coffee pumper thing, which imo is not worth $3.5. The coffee was ok, I got it basic just to try the place. It was fine but not memorable. Seating in steel craft is organized and reserved by restaurant so there is a small area designated to the coffee shop. It was noisy since it's by the road and not good for working, but would be fun for a friend meet up or casual date. read more
