But then she just turns to the girl walking by next to her and started talking about this guy! I was so caught off guard at her blatantly just ignoring me! My husband and I used to love getting Crepes at Phinista every time we are in Fenway. I was very surprised during our last visit by how much the taste of the food and coffee had changed. After a year of searching, I have found the Banh Mi of Boston that fits everything I'm looking for. This place serves a superb serving of carrots, mayo, juicy meat, and slight pickling to tickle your taste buds alongside some jalapenos. Happy to see such a cute spot pop up in Fenway! My friend and I saw their drinks on social media and had to give it a try! I got the matcha latte which was really solid, and my friend got the ube latte. The ube taste wasn't as strong as I thought it would be, but maybe that's because we got it with espresso. I also got the BBQ chicken banh mi, which was a pretty large sandwich. Compared to the prices in Chinatown, this banh mi can seem pretty expensive but given that it's pretty big and the cafe is in Fenway, it's understandable. The banh mi was delicious and left me really stuffed! I would say it's a good choice for lunch in the area. I like their seating/ordering system. Each seat has a QR code that you scan and order then. The staff knows then knows where to bring the food. It's really convenient to order without waiting for service. I recommend Phinista to anyone who's looking to try Vietnamese coffee. By this time, I've tried their regular ca phe sua da (iced coffee latte), Phin Mocha, and Phin Trứng (egg coffee) - along with some of their espresso drinks. The regular iced coffee isn't extraordinary to me, as it's something I could easily brew myself with my Vietnamese beans and grinds that I have at home. Albeit, if you're looking to try Vietnamese coffee for the first time, I would start there because it IS good. The main drinks I would (and have) come back for are the Phin Mocha, the Phin Trứng, and their espresso lattes. I think what Phinista really does well is maintaining authenticity while also incorporating modern twists to Vietnamese drinks, something that's pretty difficult to do since Vietnamese coffee has a pretty distinct profile. For service, it can get VERY busy. I've had to occasionally wait a little longer than usual for a drink, but this doesn't bother me, since it's understandable with how much customer volume they get AND they can sometimes be short-staffed. It's not a negative thing, but just be patient - the coffee is worth. Plus, I've always met friendly staff who are super sweet and always get my orders correct, even when I customize my drinks. They also don't skimp on the coffee, meaning their cups aren't not filled with 75% ice, so that's another great bonus to this coffee shop. In terms of pricing, Phinista is on the pricier end of coffee... BUT I've been told that some of the funds that go into their drinks also goes back to the farmers in Vietnam who source the beans, so I'd say the coffee is fairly priced - especially if they're trying to support local farmers as well! I've been back, and I definitely plan on returning again and bringing with me any friends who want to try/love Vietnamese coffee. Definitely recommend! read more

I was so looking forward to grabbing breakfast and coffee here after reading about its coffee and crepes but my lackluster experience started as soon as I walked in. My main issue was the lack of hospitality that I received, which I understand might not be an issue for most other people. There was no one behind the counter and no one greeted us when my boyfriend and I walked in. We saw the QR codes on the tables and thought, "OK, this is how things work now. We'll place our order through the app and will get table service." Which we were totally fine with. But then another couple of customers walked in behind us and then the man behind the counter came out and greeted them each with a cheery "Good morning!" He then proceeded to explain the menu and answered any questions they had. Now when I'm by myself, I can understand being overlooked. Maybe I'm stealthy like a ninja so people don't see me. But it was me and my bf who walked in. We even stood at the counter, had a conversation and when no one popped out from the back we guessed it was a seat yourself deal. But then each customer after us got that warm greeting. And then when our orders were ready, they called us to the counter to pick up our own drinks and food. Ok, so no table service. Except the couple who also ordered via the QR code but were sitting outside got their food and drinks brought out to their table. I don't understand what the point of having those QR codes on the tables are if they're not going to even bring your order to your table and instead they yell out your name to tell you it's ready for pickup. As for the coffee and food, I will say that I loved my vegan latte and the pork bowl. The latte was the right amount of sweet and bitter and I was grateful they had this coconut condensed milk option. The crepe was a bit too sweet for me but had fresh berries, and that pork rice bowl was delectable. I only wished, besides being acknowledged, that they still offered the savory crepes. As it was, they don't have any real breakfast options. So yeah, such a bummer about the service. It really left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

We did notify the staff and it was fixed, they just had a glitch in the system. By then we had already decided to grab Thai food next door. Maybe it was an off day for them. The first time I came here was in the fall of 2023. The food and drinks were amazing. I don't remember the exact drink I got back then but they have a wide variety of Vietnamese coffees. You have your traditional black coffees and then drinks where they'll add condensed milk. There seems to be a limited time drink on rotation from time to time. The sandwich was amazing. I got the Saigon bahn mi which made me skeptical at first since the protein was just an egg. But it was delicious and that can be attributed to the bread used. The bread was fluffy yet crunchy on the outside. It was well textured and the pate was flavorful. All of the other ingredients complimented the sandwich well (peppers, cilantro, carrots). I got the sandwich again recently but it was to-go. That was a mistake since the bread wasn't as fresh so I recommend eating at the establishment instead of taking it to go. $12 for a bahn mi is pricey but I think it's worth it cause it's made well. They have a wide assortment of pastries and unfortunately I only took a picture of my pastry but I don't remember the name. I remember it being above average but nothing out of this world. I thought the drinks, food, and pastries were all above average so I highly recommend this place. The service is quick and efficient. Inside, there ain't much space but they do have wifi and limited seating. I'd come here to eat and maybe sit outside but not to work just because you won't consistently find a place to work. Although there aren't that many tables, the wallpaper is gorgeous and there's a lot of natural light. The cafe offers plenty of options in both the Vietnamese coffee and tea departments. I ordered the egg coffee with less condensed milk and more regular milk, and the top was SO frothy and foamy. I also got the pork salad bowl, which was a light yet satisfying meal to sustain me throughout the day. My friends ordered the tea & coffee drink which seemed very unique, and the thai latte. Love this place!! My friend introduced this place to me recently and I came back again on my own. To start, it's basically a modern viet cafe. I have tried their sunrise sunset bubbly tea, phin rose, and their banh mi (classic cut). The bubbly tea was good and I really enjoyed the blueberries but I probably won't get it again as I prefer the other stuff on their menu more. I think it's mainly because I was hoping for it to have a stronger tea taste which it didn't. Regardless it was good. Great for the gram if you're into aesthetics. The phin rose is a slight twist from the typical viet coffee. It has rose infused syrup added. It's very faint but you can taste it. Pretty good!! Their banh mi is also good too. I got the classic cut and I was pleased. I do have to say, the pricing is all much more expensive than what you would typically pay for at a more classic viet spot but it's a modern vibe so I'm not surprised. Both times I was here, I was able to find parking right in front. However, I kept getting lucky and getting the last spot each time. Do you need to pay? Not sure. I just took the risk cause I could see my car from inside haha. They have tables outside so if it's decent weather, you can definitely enjoy a socially distanced meal outside. I've been supporting Phinista ever since before their storefront. They are consistent with their drinks and their service is AMAZING. They make sure every customer is happy and they never fail to deliver 100% each time. The owner and his wife are the sweetest people in Boston. I ordered through Yelp and got delivery for a BBQ pork Banh mi, dragonslayer, and their Cider me apple drink. The BBQ pork Banh mi is the best I've eaten in a while. A great story leading to a great cafe- we are so happy this place opened! Check out their website for the story behind their opening in the midst of the pandemic, but despite this, they have done everything they could to make this a warm and welcoming place while also filling in a much needed void in the Fenway food scene. The owners are lovely and are often in the shop. My boyfriend loves their cold brew and thai tea and we are both huge fans of the banh mi- crispy french baguette with delicious cold cuts (if you get the classic, which was recommended to me, and now I order every time!), seasoned nicely with that extra kick of white pepper (very reasonable prices and very generous portions!). They recently rolled out fresh asian pastries, which I'm sure will be the death of me- they look so delicious and the two I've tried (cheesy garlic bread and pork floss) were excellent- soft, fluffy and flavorful. They have also adjusted to new restrictions, allowing online ordering and pickup, which has reduced the lines and waiting significantly. Overall, a sweet story and a sweet cafe.
