Phi Phi was my HMUA artist for my wedding last March. When Phi Phi and her team arrived to do make-up for me and my bridal team, they were efficient, quick, and fun. Since I had cut my hair into a pixie days before the wedding, she gave me a facial before putting on my make-up, and it was so relaxing! I think I fell asleep for a hot second. I've never had professional facial, and it was so nice to feel pampered before the most stressful moment of my life. Lol While getting my make-up done, she was conscientious that I don't like a lot of make-up, and that false lashes have historically been challenging for me to wear (I wear glasses so many falsies hit my glasses, and they irritate my eyes a lot). I wanted a soft, no-make-up look, but with a little wing eyeliner, and I showed her a photo of a bride she had done previously that looked really nice. That look, she told me, had used way more make-up than I liked, so she did her best to emulate that style on me, but in a toned-down approach. She was also so patient with me while we did a trial and error on a couple lash extensions to see which was most comfortable, and we eventually found one that gave my lashes fullness, yet felt weightless. To be honest, I totally forgot that I was wearing them until I had to take off my make-up. It actually made me a bit sad to take them off because they were the first falsies that were *so* comfortable. As for her HMUA team, I really appreciated that they asked each of my bridesmaids and my sister-in-law what kind of make-up and hair style they were going for. I didn't have any specific hair & make-up styles for anyone, so each of them chose their own style, and her team was flexible to accommodate each request! Overall, the experience was great! Phi Phi is more than an artist, she is a magician and a calming presence in the storm of wedding chaos. From the beginning, she was kind and considerate in all of our interactions, offering suggestions and recommendations when asked that were in line with my aesthetics. Phi Phi did my hair and makeup for a formal event I had in the Bay Area. I was in search of someone who could do a contemporary, age-appropriate look, and she certainly delivered! I booked using her online system and she was in touch right away. I can be tough to reach via phone but I confirmed my appointment with her and showed her some looks I thought would look nice, which helped her narrow down what products to bring. I was staying at a local hotel and she was happy to come to me. She even offered me a discount, which was incredibly generous of her. The day of, she texted me to let me know she was at the Starbucks by my hotel and even offered to get me something (I declined, but it was so sweet!). She quickly set up shop in my room and got to work. I appreciate that she was detail oriented and focused on creating a look I would love. I could tell she was having lots of fun with my makeup, which was awesome. We did airbrush foundation, a smokey eye with falsies, light contouring, and a dark lip. She has a gentle hand and a great bedside manner--she's incredibly warm, friendly, and fun. She also took the time to explain her process, which is always fascinating, and let me keep the mascara she used on me. I love that she knows so much about the brands she uses! I went for a beachy curl for my hair and she knocked it out of the park too. She asked how well my hair holds curl, which determined what technique she would use. She also put lots of product in, knowing that I would need it to hold up. All the products she uses (for both hair and makeup) are high quality and long lasting. Her hair products smell yummy, too! 100% recommend booking with her. My hair and makeup looked phenomenal and lasted all night without sweating off (a mean feat, since I'm incredibly sweaty). She takes photos of before and after, and will even send them to you and ask for your permission to use it, which I'm so grateful about. I am SO happy I went with PhiPhi and her mother for my Hair and Makeup for my wedding. I came across PhiPhi & Yvonne's website when I was looking for a makeup and hair person to do mine for a formal banquet that I went to recently. I usually don't wear any makeup at all (the only thing on a daily basis I'll wear is face moisturizer and mascara at most - yes, I'm a super simple girl)! Another concern I've had before with make up artists is that they don't really end up matching my skin tone when they put on makeup (it's either super dark or super light). Also, I've broken out before when MAC products have been used on my face (silicon based products). Hands down, the mother/daughter duo are super amazing! PhiPhi started out with my hair while Yvonne prepared my face for makeup. I chose the Kate Middleton hairstyle and it went so well with the dress I wore; I literally got compliments on my hair and makeup from strangers at the formal banquet! The makeup was perfectly matched with my skin tone and since I had mentioned to her about my sensitive skin/broke out when MAC products were used on me; she told me not to worry at all and ended up using Bobbi Brown makeup for my base. She is very good if your looking for a softer gentle look but not the dramatic contour and eye makeup that I desired. For the money that I paid I just don't think it was worth every detail I was trying to go for. I was a bit trepidatious about using a service based solely off of Yelp reviews. This was one of the times that it totally paid off! I contacted Phiphi earlier during the week of March 10th to inquire about availability and pricing. She was very quick to respond and super helpful, even providing some suggestions during our email correspondence. I was looking forward to meeting with her but was told that her mother, Yvonne, would be doing my makeup and hair. Day of the appointment, I showed up to meet Yvonne. She was very friendly. The makeup and hair salon is actually part of their family home. She made me feel completely at ease. Other reviews have said this before and I would completely agree with them at the Yvonne is a perfectionist. She works very meticulously, going back over her work if she isn't completely satisfied with the overall effect. I have never trusted a makeup artist as much until that point. My makeup and hair ended up lasting all night. To give those who are interested a sense of the timeline, I walked out of the salon at 2:45 pm on a Saturday, drove from San Jose to San Francisco, check into my hotel. ran a couple of errands in downtown San Francisco, got dressed, and arrived in still quite a pristine state at 7 pm at the party venue. By the time I called it a night, which was at 12:45 am Sunday, I was still pretty much put together. This was the first time that I had my makeup professionally done so price-wise, I don't know how that compares to other MUA/salons. I got my hair and makeup done for $120 plus tip. I felt that that was a complete bargain. For those who are unsure, just know that they'll probably be using 20+ products on your face and/or hair, most of which you probably do not have in your possession, at least I didn't. So compared to actually purchasing the same products and doing everything yourself, if you are so fortunate to be so adept, it is astronomically more cost effective. As a comparison, I had a coworker who got her makeup (ONLY) done at the Laura Mercier counter at Macy's and she ended up spending $95, they have a three-item minimum purchase for their makeup services. The only thing I wished I had done differently was asked her for a list of the products that she used on me! She used mostly MAC and Bobbi Brown products, some of which I feel like I NEED to have now that I've seen what can be with them. I look forward to using Yvonne and Phiphi again in the future, most likely for my bridal makeup and hair, and will definitely be recommending them to everyone I know. read more

Hands down, i gaurantee that you will look even more gorgeous after phiphi is done with you. Back when I went to her, she was still building up her portfolio and she got to experiment on me since I told her I was going to a dancing event later that night. She not only did my makeup, but my hair as well--making sure to match the clothes I was going to wear. She did this magnificent mix of dark shades, blue, silver, white and blending them, making my eyes look really bold (which is what I asked for). As for the rest of my face, I let her play around to see what worked best, and she put alot of bases (i dont really know too many makeup terms, so bear with me here) but either way they all felt really light and i couldnt really feel them throughout my night of dancing. Phi Phi was a fantastic choice for my bridal hair and makeup. She came with a glowing recommendation from my dress designer and I couldn't have imagined a better HMU artist. I'm not too experienced with makeup and knew I wanted a relatively natural look with my natural curly pattern, but didn't really know where to go from there. Phi Phi completely understood what I was looking for with minimal input from me and made me look amazing! Phi Phi is very experienced with Indian brides and knows how to help with dupatta pinning, jewelry, etc which was a huge help. Additionally, I was a COVID bride, and during both our trial and day-of, she showed impeccable adherence to sanitary practices, even providing some brand new makeup brushes for me to keep after she used them on me. I had seen Phi Phi's & Yvonne's portfolio and was absolutely in love with their creative style. My sister and I asked Phi Phi to do our hair and makeup for our graduation photos, and Phi Phi looked at our dresses as well as the photos we showed her to get a feel of what kind of styles we were looking for. Phi Phi and Yvonne are a great team--very knowledgeable and made us feel comfortable. Phi Phi did my sister's hair while Yvonne did my foundational makeup and Phi Phi finished it up while Yvonne did my sister's foundational makeup. This review is long overdue! Phi Phi and Yvonne did my make up and hair for my engagement shoot and for my wedding in November! They also did make up and hair for my 4 bridesmaids and mom! Phi Phi is super bubbly and wants to make sure you are completely happy with what you want. Yvonne complements her daughter really well and while she is more reserved, she is meticulous and gave me an awesome complexion and soft contour which I absolutely loved! I absolutely loved my make up for my wedding, I felt beautiful without feeling too overdone...they also turned my mom into a pageant queen too! She really enjoyed the experience as well. Phi Phi also helped me come up with a bridesmaid make up and hair schedule prior to my wedding date and brought with her a larger team to help her out on the day of my wedding so that we wouldn't run behind.
