Had a great dinner here on a cold day (the pho hit the spot!). I didn't make a reservation which was fine since the restaurant was only half full when I arrived on a Monday evening around 6pm. The owner is very friendly; he went around to each table and chatted with us. Our server was also so sweet and helpful. I ordered the beef pho with tripe and sliced rare beef; the broth was incredible!!! So flavorful that I didn't need to add any hoisin or sriracha. I also ordered the shrimp spring roll which was tasty as well. They also had a great playlist. I would say there's about 10-15 tables and then bar seating. My brother & I were ready for an early lunch before noon. Pho 99 was on the corner and he said, "that's my regular place." And "Best Pho in Sarasota". I whole heartedly agree. Great and attentive service. While we sat there Pho 99 filled up with regulars. The word is out. I love the setting, comfortable, quiet, and easy to get around. Our food came. My brother got a Vietnamese soup, wonderfully rich and spiced. I got a mango shrimp salad that was rich flavors and I added chili pepper sauce so I was happy with the experience over all. The egg rolls are the most addictive I've ever had--the pork and shrimp wrapped in lettuce and dipped in fish sauce are a life changer. I've never had a bad meal here. Food was jammed with flavor, and not spicy which I truly appreciated. Both the beef and pork were perfectly cooked. Egg rolls are a perfect appetizer also generous with flavor and a portion of 5 is great for 2. Service is friendly, inviting, and relaxing. Menu is helpful with ingredients listed. Some pictures would be helpful but honestly just asking the server was great. This is clearly a family run business with a loyal clientele. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G Food, Service, and Ambience! We were greeted so warmly. We actually hadn't had the best day, so their service did a lot to restore our moods. The food did all the rest. We also had the Vietnamese Lemonade. We didn't try the Boba but there was a steady flow of foot traffic for them from what we could see. My first experience eating Vietnamese food and they did not disappoint! The Crab Rangoons were the best I have ever eaten. The sauce with them is amazing and I have NEVER eaten sauce with crab Rangoons. I also got the Pork with noodles which was also amazing!! Highly recommend this restaurant!!!. The service was spot on! very disappointed the spring rolls were all lettuce and noodles the shrimp was cut so paper thin that in you couldn't taste it . there was no carrots, cilantro. there was no mint, barely a basil leaf. the roll was so skinny! I expected this to be a traditional roll. I have ordered rolls in the past here but this was by far the worse attempt of a spring roll. I basically paid for two orders of rice paper and noodles. We've been here a few times but haven't taken time to write a review yet The food is really good and the people that work there are very kind. Everything we've ever tried was delicious. But please be patient and kind because it is difficult to find employees in the service industry right now so tonight was a little shortstaffed but the employees were working extremely hard to try and keep up and kept a very positive attitude. Seeing their hard work and positive attitude makes me want to go back even if the service takes a little bit longer because these types of businesses need our support especially in times like this. Support your local businesses and be patient and kind to your service industry employees. The food was too good to get a picture of everything. I'm only adding one picture of the first appetizer. Nice change from the pizza and burger places for a quick casual dinner. Service was excellent and food came quickly, even though they were very busy on a Weekend night. Enjoyed the pho and the rice noodle dishes. The wonton soups are good. Spring rolls were fresh and tasty. Location is convenient along a major thoroughfare. Parking lot is around the restaurant. Took my friend out here to show her how delicious,fresh and healthy is Thai food. We ordered fresh spring rolls with shrimp. It was mostly lettuce,no cilantro,sweet basil or lemon grass.....it tasted lettuce wrapped in rice wrap. She wasn't too impressed,needless to say. I ordered papaya salad with shrimp.It was,fresh,crispy and delicious. My friend ordered a beef soup she didn't lik it. We both ordered boba tea as dessert-that was the crown for our thai food experience. We both loved that! Very good food I read through quite a few of the reviews and overwhelmingly the Yelpers liked the food. I did too. I don't know much about the cuisine, but the beef slices wrapped around onion in the Grilled Beef dish had very good flavor and was a good choice for me this evening. The quite slippery vermicelli noodles were a challenge and I wasn't even trying to use chopsticks, which would have been a total fail. Got through it, as well as the side of salad. Portion size was fine for dinner. My visit to Pho 99 was quick and easy. I called ahead and picked up the food to go, which was ready when they said it would be. It wasn't long after they opened so not many seated customers, but I did notice a few takeaway bags. They may do a good carryout business in addition to dining in. These negative reviews are just flukes so don't be deterred. I ordered online and everything came out perfect. I loved the Avacado spring rolls changing the dipping sauce to peanut, I could eat these daily, seem pretty healthy as well. My son had the lemongrass pork with rice, delish! Pork was grilled, salty and tender, good flavor. I am saving my chicken pho with extra veggies for tomorrow. I'm so happy I tried this place, they were not busy at 7pm Thursday offseason, woman that served me was extremely kind. Will be back regularly. read more

If you want to get food poisoning, I suggest eating at this restaurant. We ordered a large bowl of pho and wonton noodle soup. We had to send the wonton soup back 3 times. First time the noodles where undercooked and the broth was only warm. 2nd time they served the soup without any wontons. 3rd time they gave us raw wontons as in completely raw pork in the wonton (see picWe actually drank the soup and hope we don't come down with food poisoning. Owner wasn't very friendly to us. He greeted everyone in the restaurant besides us, most likely due to past visits to the restaurant where the quality was below par, but never had they served us raw pork until today. The wife's response was "well the cook was rushing to leave and sometimes mistakes just happen." I'm ready to call the health department on this place. We have given the restaurant multiple opportunities and have been very cordial and nice to the owners in the past. Today was the absolute last straw! UPDATE: I called the department of health and they confirmed they would investigate the restaurant. read more

One thing that I really liked about this place is that the food is very clean and not at all oily or fatty, and quality of ingredients were good. WHAT THE...Pho? We were traveling back to Tampa from a jaunt down south when some hunger pangs hit. In the mood for some Vietnamese, a departure from other types of restaurants that are in the area, we decided to stop by this Pho 99. We arrived just as dinner service was starting, promptly at 5pm. As we had our dog with us, we chose to sit outside and we quickly received a friendly greeting from our server (donning a "What the Pho" t-shirt), menus and water. In addition, our dog's needs were quickly met as we were provided with a dog water bowl and two biscuits for her to munch on while we stuffed our pho holes. I decided on the seafood pho and requested that I have vegetable broth which was gladly honored without issue. My husband ordered a shrimp and pork vermicelli meal. We both enjoyed our entrees which consisted of fresh and tasty ingredients. The pho I had contained a medley or seafood and was accompanied with sprouts, basil, jalapeños and lime wedges which I love and what I am used to (at least at Vietnamese restaurants in FL). Our service was exceptionally great. The owners (husband and wife) were both present and they chatted with us. They discussed how they have 2 or 3 (I forget exactly) restaurants in NJ, just outside of NYC, and then decided to open up another in Sarasota as they noticed there was a dearth of Vietnamese restaurants in the area. Pho 99 has a modern style and has a clean interior. There is also parking around the restaurant and it is situated on the corner of a shopping strip mall. I would definitely return to Pho 99 again to eat when I desire Vietnamese food. read more

Yummy! This place practice social distancing! They have blocked some of their booths. Every other booth is blocked off to provided more than 6 feet apart which I appreciate!!!
