We were in the area for a family trip recently. After a long cold day of enjoying the natural beauty of the area, my kids were in the mood for some pho. We found this place on Yelp. It wasn't too close to our hotel, but it seemed like it would be worth the drive... and it was. There was a short line before we could be seated, but we used the time to decide what we wanted to order. After we were seated, we immediately placed our orders. After a few minutes, our orders came out. There was a mix up on our order, but the kitchen was able to correct that quickly. The pho soup was hot, which hit the spot when coming in from the cold. The ambiance was nice elevator music playing while you eat but Their vermacheli has to be the worst I've ever tasted. Nomally every restaurant I have been too in Canada the food tasted good. First of all the chicken was broiled and it was hard to believe that it was actually chicken. I could hardly eat the chicken because it was greasy and didn't taste like chicken at all. The noodles had a greasy texture that almost made me earl. The part that was troublesome was the waitress ask me "how was it" and I told her "I didn't like it", she had an attitude. She them went up to the counter area and did not say anything to me . When I was coming up to the front she started laughing and saying something to the cook in the back. I paid and told the young man at the register my opinion on the food and left. This has got to be the worst tasting Vietnamese food I have tasted in my life. Good grief. I love this place and have been going here for the past couple years. Always great service and big portions. However, over the last 6 months or so they've started serving a different rare beef with noticeably poorer quality (very gristly, has lines of the same kind of bumpy tissue as the tripe) .. that I no longer gamble on buying anything with rare beef from here anymore which was my favorite. Pho 37 is a small restaurant holding approx 50. Very cool pictures & deco adorn this restaurant. The Seafood Crispy Chow Mien, Yellow Curry Chicken & Lemon Grass Chicken with Shrimp Rolls & Salad - excellent!!! The taste is truly exceptional - I concur! Another not so hidden gem found in A strip mall in richmond bc. Been driving by this place a million times and never knew it stewed something special inside. The famous Tuan's Pho special. - now what makes this dish so special? Its the only pho place that i know that serves Pho this way. First, they stir fry some of the beef and then included it in the soup together with some rare beef. It gave the soup extra flavour. Next, before serving, the server said they sprinkle it with something extra to give it more aroma and extra flavour. After tasting it, im 95% sure its ground cinnamon. It provided an extra sweetness to the soup which blended well with the pho broth. Lastly, it also comes with a poached egg! Bam! It is very gooood!!! Tried the banh mi - bbq pork one. Wow! One of the best for sure! Their bread and the bbq pork marinade took it to new levels. The bread was crusty and yet soft on the inside. Not too thick but just right. The bbq pork was marinaded perfectly. Right amount of sweetness and smokiness. Filled with veggies and secret spread. Absolutely amazing! Easily in my Top 2 best banh mi in Yvr. It was a very rainy weekend so pho from Pho 37 was the perfect meal to eat to warm up my tummy. Came here a little bit before the lunch rush so we were seated right away. It quickly became packed when we received our food. It's always extremely busy here during peak times and the space is small inside with limited seating - I suggest to come here early or during non-peak hours. SATAY PEANUT NOODLES The broth is so damn creamy and full of umami flavours. Definitely not a bland or boring broth to have with your noodles. Sipping on this makes you feel so warm and full. This dish is what I enjoyed most and the portion is massive. Highly recommend. TUAN'S SPECIAL BEEF NOODLE This place is known for their 'charred' tasting flavour in all their broths and this noodle bowl had so much of that flavour in the broth. It's so good and so comforting to sip on. So much flavour and extremely filling because they really piled on the beef slices, beef briskets and beef balls. Having heard great reviews of this place, especially of this OG location, and their house special pho - this is by default, a must go on a chilly Vancouver day. I've been told their house special Pho Tuan is like no other and it is a must try, so that's exactly what was ordered. It's served with a rich beef broth that's not overly oily, the meat slices are slightly torched before serving, which enhances each bite with a subtle aromatic charcoaly flavour (in a good way), to be mellowed down by the creaminess of an egg yolk plopped in the soup base. Overall all these flavours worked really well with each other! Note: portions are slightly larger than other pho places, a plus for all the good eaters out there! Unaware of the larger-than-usual portion sizes, we opted for a sugarcane shrimp appetizer. This could've been a meal alone, it's served on a vermicelli base, side of a mini salad, pickled daikons, and topped with two pieces of shrimp paste skewered with sugarcane. Overall I thought this dish could've been tastier if the sugarcane shrimp skewers were fried fresh to order to yield a crispier bite, this one was obviously reheated given the tougher / chewier exterior skin. Enjoyed this popular pho spot in general though it's slightly further away from the city. Would recommend the house special pho for sure! read more

Let me just say "authentic" is the only word do describe Pho 37. I had the beef Pho and noddles with some spring rolls. The broth was impeccable, the best I ever had! The spring rolls were lightly fried with excellent seasoning. The restaurant itself is really tiny and they kinda hovered over me until I put my order in which was a little uncomfortable. This USED to be my favourite viet place. Flavours and portions were on point! Went a few days ago and I was so disappointed. Not only are the portions smaller, but they have increased the price as well. Had one taste of their soup and it lacked flavour. Not sure what's going on. Top-notch vegetarian (vegan) pho out on Steveston Hwy, in Ironwood Plaza. I went for Sunday lunch. It's a small place, about half full when I visited, decently spaced out and separated for Covid measures. I saw that they had a vegetable & tofu pho with veggie broth, and also offer a satay peanut version, so I went with the latter ($16.50 plus tax). The soup came out not much more than 5 minutes later. You get a massive bowl with thin rice noodles, mixed veggies (broccoli, cabbage, carrot, celery, thinly sliced white onion), and fried tofu. The broth was on the more delicate side compared to the satay peanut broths around town, but was lovely -- only lightly spicy, with a touch of sweetness, and a wonderful satay peanut character. At $16.50 (plus tax and tip, so ~$20), it's one of the pricier bowls of pho in Greater Van, but the quality is so good that it's worth it. Good, quick service to round it out. I'll definitely return and/or try their other locations. Highly recommended. read more

On our search to find a good Vietnamese restaurant in Vancouver, we stumbled upon Pho 37 and decided to go due to short wait times (we called prior to arriving). It's a very small restaurant located in a shopping plaza. We had to split our party of eight in two but were sat right away. I read on Yelp that the peanut sauce was super good so of course we got two orders of salad rolls and the reviews weren't wrong. For the main course, I ordered 12. medium rare beef noodle soup. My friends ordered 11. special beef noodle soup, 15. sate peanut noodle with beef soup and 40. Tuan's Special Beef Noodle Soup. We had no complaints. The bowls were huge with plenty of noodles and meat! Usually pho restaurants have two sizes but this one didn't and only one of us was able to finish our bowl. I wish they gave us more garnishes to go with our bowl of pho. We were given one plate of bean sprouts and barely any basil to split between the four of us. We asked for more but they never brought it out to us. Usually restaurants will give one plate for every two people. Nevertheless, I really enjoyed the dishes here at Pho 37 and would definitely come back next time I'm in the area to try more unique items on the menu. read more

The boys and I were looking for a place to have a fairly light dinner and found this unassuming Vietnamese restaurant in a strip mall on Steveston. We were greeted by friendly staff and were seated right away on a busy Sunday evening. Our son ordered a special beef pho with tripe, beef balls and sliced beef. The basil was really fresh (look ma, no rust spots!) so we all couldn't resist using it on both our meals. Each dish was affordably priced, too ($10.00 to $13.00). Hubby and I shared a vermicelli (bun thit) dish that included spring rolls, charbroiled lemongrass pork and salad rolls. The pork was broiled to perfection and the spring and salad rolls were very satisfying. We will be back to try the other delicious offerings on the menu! read more

Very good meals, not spicy but all the sauces are available at the table to make it to you taste. Thé salade rolls are a bit bland, missing fresh herbs like coriander or mint or basil. Would have given this place 1 star if it wasn't for the appetizer. I tried their minced shrimp on sugarcane and it was delicious! Although, I'm used to bigger size of these things. I liked how it came with vermicelli and lettuce + pickled daikons. The taste was very authentic to Viet flavour. I also liked that they have fish sauce and lemongrass chilli paste on the table. I had their bun bo hue special and I was disappointed. Being a Vietnamese I know when it doesn't have the Hue flavour, rather, they mixed lemongrass flavour with the bun rieu flavour (from the congealed pork blood cubes). Im so surprised but I'm honestly a bit disappointed! I got the chicken wings and personally I like my deep fried wings more on the savoury side but these almost felt like they were coated in a layer of sugar prior to frying. This is my first time visiting Vancouver and we love Pho back home so we had to try this. First off, the portions are huge!! you definitely will be full after leaving here lol. We didn't have a wait to sit down and were helped very quickly. The restaurant is nice and got packed after we had been seated so it seems popular. They have some little koi fish in a waterfall thing in the front it was super cute! The pho here is definitely really good and I would give it a try! However, we did try pho Ten down the street from this place and my bf and I both agreed that their broth was a bit better. I feel Pho 37s broth is a bit sweeter and maybe a bit oily just as i saw the oil on top but it wasn't bad didn't feel like i was drinking grease or anything, just a note. Snow day is a pho day! When it's cold outside nothing beats a hot bowl of pho. Today we decided to deviate from our regular joints and go to Pho 37. We have been here before and have always enjoyed it but it's been a while now. Low and behold our server is no other than the server I had over 20 years ago from the first Pho restaurant I ever tried. She totally recognized me too lol. Anyway back to the food. My wife ordered bbq lemongrass chicken and vermicelli and I ordered the spicy peanut noodle (sate) soup with beef and spring rolls. I'm not sure if it's because it's been a while but wow everything really hit the spot this time. The lemongrass chicken had a beautiful smoky flavour and the vermicelli was perfectly cooked. My sate pho was so savoury and satisfying. The spring rolls made with rice paper were golden brown, crispy and delicious. I guess I'll be adding Pho 37 back into my Vietnamese food circuit :) read more

Very good Vietnamese food. All three locations were great. Really enjoyed the combo dishes.

Standard pho and rice dish. Delicious of course. Portion is decent. The freshness of ingredients are good because their turnover rate is good. Service is minimal but that's fine because you're eating pho and you don't need much other than a possible refill of water or an extra napkin. With the TV on sports and the decor showing Vietnamese influence, it's a pleasant place to enjoy a good bowl of pho. read more

Got the Papaya Salad, Combination Pan fried noodles, Shaken Beef (Bo Luc Lac), and Pho #11. Everything was delicious. Papaya salad was crisp and flavorful. Shaken beef was my favorite. The beef was moist, not chewy, and dense. Came with sides of bean sprouts, pickled carrots, sliced cucumber, and a decent amount of rice. Noodles were also great. Service is really what hits it home with 5 stars. Our waiter forgot our second order of Pho & apologized profusely even though we straight up told him it was okay. A couple came in at 9:10 PM on a Sunday (their closing time is 9 PM) & the kitchen was flexible enough to allow them to order. The environment is clean & modern and much more up-scale than a typical Vietnamese restaurant. I understand why this is a crowd favorite. read more

The first time we tried this place, it was definitely random and not intentional. We were at ironwood going to EB games and just decided to find something to eat in the complex since we were already there. We felt like noodle soup and didnt want to go bubble world so a gem was found. This place.. the broth is good, the size is good, for the most part most of the staff is good especially the owner/manager lady. Most importantly though for me.. is that the deep fried fish sauce chicken wings are to die for. The size of these suckers are so fat and man it's super juicy and crunchy. For me, the first thing i will look for in a pho menu is chicken wings. I dont necessary always order them every time but something about not having it on the menu as an appetizer option makes me sad. We always order the beef noodle special but we ask for no beef balls and instead ask for more beef tendon. So far i would say 8 out of 10 times we actually do get quite a bit more tendon. Always usually guaranteed at the ironwood location and again if that bost lady is working and taking your order. The soup is clean, teeny tiny bit oily, but super flavourful. They recently opened a second location near cambie in the union square complex. We got so excited as this one is way closer to us. Unfortunately.. we were disappointed. The food just didnt seem as good and service was definitely way more terrible. You get ignored and we would have to ask for things multiple times (example: utensils, tissue, etc). Even though this location is not AS good as the ironwood one, it still is my favorite to go to compared to any other locations. I'm probably just being biased since I really did fall in love with this place in ironwood so my expectations were higher for the union square location. I've eaten a lot of Vietnamese food in my life, but this was hands down the best Vietnamese cuisine I've had ever. EVER. My parents came here a few weeks ago and ever since then have been raving about how great the food was. Finally, last night we went out for dinner and they insisted that we go here. After hearing about their positive experience and seeing the wonderful feedback on Yelp, I was excited to try them out. My dad and I both ordered the #40: Chef Tuan Special Pho, my brother ordered the beef chow mein, and my mom ordered the lemongrass chicken on rice. We also got an order of the veggie spring rolls to share. All I have to say is wow. Just wow. The broth of my pho soup had a hint of smoky and sweet, something that I've never really had before. It was by far the best broth I've ever tasted. I also had a few bites of the chow mein, which was delicious! It was served in the shape of a bowl with all the toppings and sauce inside, and then you mixed it on your own. Even the spring rolls were amazing and perfectly fried. I don't remember the last time I was this impressed with every dish that came to the table. Bonus points that they're located in a shopping plaza, so there is plenty of free parking around. On top of all of that, the service was wonderful! We didn't have to wait long to sit down, our waters and tea were constantly full, the food came out quickly. I dropped my chopsticks and before I even had time to pic it up, a new set of chopsticks were dropped off at my table. We were in and out of there within an hour and never once felt rushed. And the restaurant itself was packed and busy! You definitely feel like you're taken care of when you dine here. Wow, just wow. I have found my new go-to Vietnamese spot. I want to bring all my friends here because I just want them to experience the deliciousness and flavour from all the food Pho 37 has to offer! read more

Came here for lunch one day and had a sit down meal. It's been a while since I've had a sit down meal since the start of COVID. The restaurant is small but it did feel a bit more cramped but only because they have plexiglass barriers separating each table which isn't actually a bad thing. I had the rare beef pho which came with a generous portion of beef and noodles. A bowl of pho was around $13 which is on the expensive side for pho but at least it was good and so was the service. I'll definitely be coming back again next time I'm in the area. read more

This is my new go-to pho place! After hearing about my friend rave about it, I tried it out and can't get enough. I've been here 4 times already in the past couple months. The pho broth here is better than all of the other places I've tried in Richmond. The house special broth is more "light" and clear than the typical pho broth. The broth used for Tuan's special is smokier and has more depth, and still really really tasty. The past few times I have been getting the peanut sate pho ($8.95). The peanut soup here is sooo creamy and peanutty, with a slight spiciness and still a pho taste. So delicious! Not to mention they don't use any MSG in their cooking. Although I am thirsty after eating here, it's probably the sodium instead... I mean I do finish almost the entire bowl of soup! Normally, I don't really like the tea they serve at restaurants. However the tea here is really good. I believe it's a barley tea, and it reminds me a bit of coconut... I'll drink this tea! The service here is quite good. The waiter is very polite and patient and knows the menu very well. He is also happy to accommodate to special requests, such as half beef half meatball, no onions on top, etc. Once, the pho Tuan did not come with the raw egg, and after mentioning this to the waiter, he apologized and immediately brought over a bowl of soup with the egg in it. They take credit card, which is a plus as I know many pho places are cash only. There is also ShawOpen available as well as their own free wifi. Since the restaurant is in Ironwood, parking is easy and always available. A great quick place to eat at before going to the theatre! I'll be back! read more

My friend Geoff has been raving their "special pho" for a couple months now and I just had to try it out for myself see what all this hype was about. Tucked in Ironwood, mall, Pho 37 is a relatively small Vietnamese restaurant. As we sat down, we ordered 4 bowls of #40 for the four of us. Number 40, "Chef Tuan's Special" is the pho that my friend had been talking about non-stop. When our bowls of noodles arrived, you could already smell that there's something irregular about the soup. To our surprise, there was also a yellow egg yolk sitting at the top of our broth. This is extremely unusual and I don't think I've ever gotten this at any Vietnamese restaurant I've been to before. We were intrigued. I immediately picked up a spoon to taste this broth. The broth is really unlike any pho broth I've had. It's garlicky, it's smokey, it's full of flavour. I noticed that some of their meats are slightly charred, which explains the smokey taste to the broth. I totally understand why Geoff speaks so highly of this place. It definitely lived up to its hype for me. Very delicious pho place inside Ironwood Mall. This is going to be my go-to place whenever I'm hitting SilverCity. Parking is plentiful in the nice large strip mall parking lot. The inside is quite new with nice seats and tables. Staff were friendly and helpful. The bun bo Hue I had had the right mix of everything. Spicy but light broth, plenty of fillings such as purple cabbage and onions, and nice slices of meat. Beautiful. The spring rolls here are arranged in a star pattern, which is pretty neat. I haven't seen this anywhere else. More importantly though, they have that nice fluffy crispy skin. Special mention. This is probably one of the tastiest Vietnamese restaurants I have been to in all of Richmond. I will definitely be back. Recommended. read more

A numbered pho place is not something I would usually go for, but this was one place I'd heard great things about, and those rumors did not lie! The pho here has such great broth, it's very comforting. I ordered the chicken pho and the soup had a complex smokiness to it that I haven't tasted in other restaurants. My boyfriend ordered the lemongrass chicken which was also very good and had a good char on it. They had other items on the menu like luc lac that I would love to try next time! read more

Ironwood, you are pho (so) lucky to have this restaurant in the area. Tucked in the mall strip beside London Drugs, this place is a busy busy place. Went with two other, we asked and they told us number 40 is their popular pho with egg and their number 38 is their popular beef steak with rice. We ended up ordering no. 38 and just the regular pho because it was late and almost closing time. The food did not dissapoint. The pho was rich in flavour and the beef is so tender and the cut i s perfect (quite thick). Taste really really good. The beef with rice was also good - tasted like black pepper beef but minus the black pepper, overall delicious but it was awkward having the usual vietnamese salad beside the beef. Will be back here if we pass by the area. Recommended to all adventurous pho lovers out there to try no.40. Pho with poached egg. read more

This is probably my favourite pho place in Richmond. I especially love places that don't have MSG or at least what they advertise as. The food tastes great and authentic. And I love that they added pandan into their teas. It may be slightly more pricey than other places, but the portions are large! The pho only has one size and it'll definitely fill you up. I wish more Vietnamese restaurants look as sanitary and offer seating as comfortable as Phò 37. This relatively narrow restaurant offers booth seating on the right and tables on the left. Waiting staff are quick to acknowledge you when you arrive. You might have to wait in line during peak periods, buy I've rarely had to wait more than 10 minutes. The menu is somewhat smaller in selection than many other places. And, their Phò only comes in one size. That said, most of the usual suspects are available. They also offer the typical rice/meat dishes as well as combos. Pricing is quite reasonable, considering the significantly better décor and seating. It's convenient that I can pay via credit card. There isn't any shady tax evasion practices here, that's for sure. This is a thoroughly modern Vietnamese restaurant that raises the standard in professionalism and presentation for the Vietnamese genre. read more

I always have pretty good meals here. The pho broth is very tasty and the noodles are cooked properly. The vermicelli bowls are good and they have combos too. All the portions are pretty good. Two light eaters can probably share one serving. Service is good for the most part. It does get quite busy during peak times. read more

I love coming here for pho. It's something I look forward to everytime I'm back in town. Menu is easy to navigate and service is quick and efficient. I love their sandwiches, vermicelli bowls and especially their pho. Definitely a fan of their lemongrass soup with their #12 spicy pho bowl and how fresh everything is. This is my favourite pho place. I haven't found any place as good or better. I usually get #11 with no tendon and tripe but today I tried #40 pho Tuan, it was good and came with the meat seared and an egg, but I still preferred the #11. I highly recommend thing place, absolutely amazing. read more
