    Spring rolls

Gia Minh took over the same spot of Moon café and same interior as before. Gia means home, it more likes family run business. I used to go Gia Minh monthly when they're newly open. I would say their BBH was great and it served with a bit purple cabbage on it. It tasted quite spicy and a bit at salty side. I liked the beef and beef balls noodles too. Beef balls were quite bouncy and beef broth pretty tasty. I suspected the ownership or chef changed, therefore, the food and taste gone down a lot. Sadly.... We need to look for another good Pho shop..

#14 large. We wanted it small and got large due to miscommunication.

Clean, nice decor and great value. Service was fast too. My sister and I got #13 and #14 with Spring rolls it was amazing. However server didn't ask the size and thought she'll ask us like most places do.Didn't like how server blamed us for not mentioning the size and we got large instead of small. She didn't ask what size we wanted. Spring rolls were crispy and yummy. I really enjoyed the food here. #13(rare beef, tendon and tripe) was good just that I like tendon more tender in texture. Portion was huge. Soup was light and not salty. It came with some cilantro and green onions in soup which I didn't mind. I'll come back PHO more.

So it looks like Moon Cafe has died and reincarnated into this establishment. The giveaway was the giant clock on the back wall. Parking is plentiful behind the row of buildings. One of the great things about this Fraser area. The inside is just classy as in the previous life. Looks like the owners didn't renovate much, which is not a bad thing in this case. Staff were friendly, but weren't too attentive. One of them was playing on her phone the whole time we were here and barely looked up. The food here is not the typical run of the mill (ie Pho Hoa) type. They put extra care into the cooking and ingredients, and the taste speaks for itself. I had the Bun Bo Hue, and it came with plenty of toppings such as green onions and cabbage. Nice light soup, that had some heat but wasn't overwhelming. Special mention. My buddy had the seafood noodle soup and it was also quite delicious. I will definitely be back. Recommended.

More so for value & cleanliness, this one has nicer decor than those holes in the wall by Kingsway. Ordered lemongrass pork, special pho & vermicelli, all deleesh. What stands out is the volume of noodles & meatballs, no cheaping out here. Friendly service, server had no problems getting extra sharing bowls & napkins. No attitude lol

Got both the banh mi for lunch today, $8 cash (I think it's more if you don't pay cash). The grilled chicken one is my favourite, and next time I'll tell them to put a jalapeno in it. Loving this place

My friend WL gave me a call on Friday morning to see if I had time for lunch. Well it's a Friday so of course I have time! Haha! He suggested we meet at the proverbial Deer Garden on Fraser Street... I'm sure you can hear me whine once I heard the words Deer Garden....oh... Not that place again.... I'm sick of it!... I made him pick something else. He said he has gone to a Vietnamese place that was on Fraser that was pretty good... Gia Minh... Hmmm.... Gia Minh isn't too bad... Once you walk in the most striking feature is the cleanliness of this place. Gia Minh is one of the cleanest Vietnamese restaurants that I've been to in Vancouver. At the end of the meal I ventured to the men's room and again... Pretty Darn clean! Ok so it's clean what about the food... hmmmm..... Well I would say it's about average. Nothing exceptional, but I would venture to say that the price is a bit on the high side. Not exceptionally high but just a touch on the high side. I had their special meat soup... It was ok... I'll have to come back and try some of their other offerings to really get a good gauge on this place. For now I'll go with 4 stars... 1 star for being super clean and 3 stars for the food!

Lemon Grass Chicken, and Spring Rolls
    Stephanie H.

I frequently order soup from here off of skip the dishes, and it's pretty good for take out pho. Today we decided to dine in, and I ordered lemon grass chicken and a side of spring rolls. The lemon grass chicken was really good, I would definitely order it again!! The spring rolls were not my favourite, the dipping sauce was a lot sweeter than I typically like. I'll probably continue to order from this place on skip the dishes, maybe come back for the lemon chicken dish, but not a big fan of the spring rolls.

Solid Pho place, but it just didn't wow me. It feels clean in there and the service is great. But I think I would like to see more options for their menu. The dishes felt a bit small. Prices ok. Free parking along fraser street and behind the building. On the plus side, they take debit!

Very fat service here; I always for some reason drink Pho on cloudy days. It always uplifts my mood. Don't add the fish sauce because that's very very very salty. I added to my spoon and spit it out to the plate. The washroom isn't the best btw so if you have to pee or go number two; do it somewhere else.

    Gia Minh Special Beef Noodle
    Chickie V.

Gia Minh is located at what used to be Moon Cafe on Fraser so it inherited the decor which is great b/c that was renovated not too long ago. The resto is clean, the staff is very friendly and service was prompt. Overall, the food didn't disappoint and I prefer Gia Minh over Pho Hong which is a few blocks down. The special beef noodle (#9) had a great variety of toppings. The BBQ chicken vermicelli (specialty dry noodle, #32) packed in some flavour. The shrimp salad roll (#2) probably would be better off with less vermicelli filling. But most important: it passed the MSG test so I wasn't dying of thirst after the meal. Great food, service and easy parking will have me coming back.

Even on rainy days, people are willing to get soaked in the rain just to have a bowl of hot tonkotsu ramen. While you're queuing, the staff will hand out menus. The ordering system is similar to Ichiran Ramen; you can choose the noodle firmness, broth consistency, spiciness, green onions, oil level, and MSG amount . The basic ramen is only $13. I added a soft-boiled egg and pickled cabbage for $2 each. Although the pickled cabbage is really expensive , I can't help it, I'm a pickled cabbage addict! The pickled cabbage paired with the rich tonkotsu broth was refreshing. The broth was flavorful but not greasy, the noodles were chewy and springy, and the portion size was just right. Overall, it's incredibly good value for money; no wonder there's always a queue. After eating, you really get that "Ah~ this is the taste of happiness" feeling

I had the goma vegetarian and my brother the tonkatsu. We both had thicker noodles. However, one could not tell. The vegetarian was loaded with sesame seeds. Now i love those seeds but it was way too much for my liking. Too much seeds to chew on. They also do not put any vegetables on like Hawaii does. Everything is ala carte and that adds up. I simply chose the ramen version without all the add ons. The broth was yummy but again with the loaded seeds, it made it challenging to just drink the soup. I will say, Hawaii has by far better ramen, but this place was ok too. Pricey for for what you get though.

Paid parking was not too hard to find on the Main Street but during busy dining hours it might be difficult. We got seated right away at the bar since there were no tables open and the service was quick. Traditional Japanese style ambiance and even the bathroom had rounded Japanese bowl sink. As someone who doesn't have chicken broth (paitan style) ramen, I was really looking forward to the original ramen I ordered but I was a bit disappointed in the flavor profile of the dish. The ramen had both chasu and seaweed paired with thin round noodles. The broth was creamy and had a hint of chicken flavor but even adding several rounds of their soy sauce/salt seasoning they have on the side to adjust your broth to your liking-- I found that the richness of the soup was not what I had expected from the reviews that I read prior to coming here. Overall, a bit disappointed in the flavoring of the broth but maybe we came on an off day. Review #3 for 2026 I…read morereally wanted to like this place. I watched many videos and read reviews before coming here, but it just did not hit the spot. After a cold day of exploring Stanley Park, we felt that ramen would really hit the spot, so we went here not wanting to deal with a wait at Danbo with a hungry and tired toddler. There was NO wait when we arrived here and we were seated immediately... which for a place that was really hyped up, should had made us think twice. There was only 1 other party at the restaurant. Now, the workers were super nice and the food came out quickly and we did eat everything because we were starving. We all ordered the cha-shu tamago ramen, 2 of us got spicy and 2 of us non-spicy. It came with extra chashu and the soft boiled egg for about $20 Canadian. The bowl was a good size and there was a promo for free extra noodles while we were there. Everyone except me in our group took advantage of it because I was too full from my bowl. Now, the broth here is different from other places because it is chicken based and not pork based. Everything I had seen about this place promised the broth is every bit just as good as the pork bone broth... however, the broth we received looked flavorful, but was bland. It was completely bland. There was no richness to it, not even a hint. I don't know, coming from southern California, the flavor just was not there period. We did all eat our food because we were starving, but it for sure did not hit the spot at all. Maybe we got an off day? Otherwise our broth had literally zero flavor to it. We all wished we had tried the other ramen place instead right after trying our ramen. Would I come back? I will have to say definitely no. We do not live in Vancouver and I do not want to waste any meals on a place that did not taste good the first time we went.

The beef wasn't as tender as it could be, but it wasn't chewy or tough to eat. Prices are reasonable at around $20 after tax and tips. The beef is tender though the quantity is very little. More noodles than meat ratio. The combo is totally not worth it now that the price has gone up to about $13. Bun Bo Hue (Small $16.19) - super spicy, but that's fine since I enjoy spicy foods. The issue was that the broth was quite bland, and the spiciness wasn't enough to make up for it. Usually, this soup base has a lot of depth and flavour from broth that's been simmering for a long time to extract those flavours, but this was probably one of the worst ones I've tried. Decent portion of meat, at least 3-4 large slices of Vietnamese ham and goor amount of beef slices. The noodles were SUPER undercooked! Good portion of bean sprouts, and came with 1 wedge of lime. Beef Brisket and Beef Ball in Noodle Soup (Large $17.62) - again, VERY bland broth. The noodles also tasted sort of like freezer burn? Decent portion of meat and filling enough. Just had to douse in Siracha and oyster sauce to finish the bowl though... Pork Spring Rolls ($10.48) - flavour was decent, nothing special. Deep fried okay as well. No complaints here but no endorsement either. There's no music in the restaurant either so it's a tad awkward. Staff are friendly. Lots of seating, including a patio area.
