Ate and went here trying this place out for the first time for dinner with my parents and sister. We definitely got different kinds of beef pho and it was absolutely delicious and savory. The service there was also attentive, friendly and quite good. Finally, I would definitely eat and come back again next time when I visit Virginia Beach next time in the future.

Broth for H3. Wonton and Egg Noodle Soup

Got myself some wonton noodle soup because of a bad bronchitis episode. The DoorDash order arrived quickly and everything was in tact and not leaking or anything. Due to my staying at a hotel, having no way to eat the noodles and wontons without basically putting the entire thing in a long cylinder like container made it challenging to enjoy or eat the food in general. It made a mess trying to break up the noodles that were otherwise dried up and clumped together. The wontons were ok. The broth just tasted like regular pho soup with strong hint of fish sauce or some sort of seafood based agent. Not a fan. I appreciated the fresh garnishing it contained and the otherwise stellar texture of the food. Maybe they make other items that taste better or it's just better to eat at the restaurant itself.

The food wasn't bad, but it certainly didn't match the price. The flavor of the pho broth was very sweet and was missing some richness. It's a good spot for the area, but not a spot that I would frequent.

Sometimes I take a trip out to Virginia Beach to kill two birds with one stone... Trader Joe's and Pho 79! Conveniently located next door to one another, how could I say no?! You get a lot of bang for your buck here. I ordered the appetizer sized beef Pho, and it was more than enough for me. Paired with fresh spring rolls and a delicious sauce, this makes for a great pre (or post) TJs shop! Friendly and quick service, as well as a cozy vibe inside. The restaurant has a bar, as well! Not pictured--delicious Thai Tea that I drank before taking a picture. Trust me and try it!

The ambiance is a 5. The non working Vespa by the entrance reminds you of transportation in Vietnam- bikes and scooters. There are red and white lanterns and banana leaf-shaped ceiling fan blades. Cute. Decor has rooflines with clay shingles just like in Asian countries. Service is a 5. You're greeted at the door and told to sit anywhere. Chopsticks, chili oil and glass of water with lemon twist are placed on your table. The condiments seem to be in clean containers. I am not sure how the other reviews indicate that it's the best pho broth in Hampton Roads when mine was mediocre at best: the color and smell seem on point but the taste isn't rich or deep in flavor like P** Ng***n for sure! Additionally I figured why another review indicated that it was pricey where small bowl is about $16. It's because this place introduces the concept of "appetizer" sized bowl which is charged the lowest tier price of almost $12, which then seems to justify the small size to be almost $16! I can only think of kids eating the appetizer sized portion. The ratio of meats/protein to noodle is small so you feel like you didn't get anything substantial for the price you pay. There were only two small pieces of tendons in the soup.

Very clean with Vietnamese inspired decor and very friendly and welcoming staff. Even though it was not our first time eating Vietnamese food, the waitstaff was happy to help us elevate our experience. Ordered the Vietnamese coffee (what out, very string) and both my husband and I had the Bun (vermicelli) with pork. My husband also ordered the egg rolls (fried) and we were very happy with everything! Big portions, flavorful profile and amazing staff... Will definitely return here whenever we are in the neighborhood.

Food is amazing, service is great, food arrives hot and quickly, and the ambiance makes you feel like you're outside enjoying delicious pho.

Started off with the spring rolls, they are super crunchy and hot but had a super salty flavor to them. The soup, served warm (I prefer hot), the broth is delicious but the noodles were overcooked to the point they could not be picked up with chopsticks. The service is good, and the place is super clean. I am not from this area but I am sure you could find better Pho in the area

Pho was very good I had P4 round steak, flank, and brisket. Spring rolls were decent as well but not "amazing". Great sauce though! Additionally, not a ton of items on the menu besides pho. Service seemed quite rushed although the place wasn't busy for lunch. I wish our server asked for any appetizers first before entrees because it became confusing. Nothing really special about the place. Average tables, chairs, and decor.

best pho in vb. been to many, this is the best! i got the pho tai sach and my friends ordered dac biet. the viet coffee was really good too. service is friendly and awesome and it's a cute cozy place. perfect for family, friends, and more. if you want tender meat, your noodles not breaking easily because of the hot broth, broth so good you don't need extra seasoning, try pho 79!

Hubby has a cold and wanted some pho. I was taking a class at plant house yesterday and this was on the way home so I picked this place to get food from. Idk if it's pho 79 or viet pho. The sign and menu both say viet pho, but google maps and yelp and my receipt all say pho 79. Either way, it was great. I planned on just getting pho for both of us, but then I saw they had bahn mi sandwiches so I thought that might be nice too. They didn't have a tofu bahn mi, so I asked if they had one and the nice lady went to ask the kitchen if they could make me one and they said yes! So I got a tofu bahn mi and got my hubby a beef bahn mi. They had all the yummy flavors of a bahn mi, but there was no sauce so it was a little dry. I added some mayo at home to spruce it up. I'd still order it again though and it was so nice of them to make it for me. For the pho, hubby got the P2 which is beef and meatballs. I got the P12 which has no meat. I still got the delicious beef bone broth though and added fried tofu. It came with all the fixings like bean sprouts, basil, a lime wedge, a few jalapeño slices, cilantro, green onions, and hoisin. We added extra hoisin at home, along with some sriracha. Everything was amazing. It's conveniently located right next to Trader Joe's, so parking was a bit of an issue since it was a Saturday and everyone was at TJs. It was great to be able to go shop there and waste some time while I was waiting for my food to be ready. There were about five tables of people eating. It was a nice, cozy restaurant and the staff was very friendly. I would definitely come back here and order again. I also felt it was very reasonably priced as well.

They are an Asian fusion restaurant, but they offer Burmese dishes. I was excited to try them out because I've never had Burmese cuisine. I'd like to believe Mommy Mom may be the first Burmese restaurant in Hampton Roads, but I can't be sure. At the least, this is, for me, the first time I've come across a Burmese restaurant locally. During my first visit I ordered the following: spring rolls for an appetizer; and for my entree, Kyae Oh (Pork Noodle Soup), which is a noodle soup with vermicelli noodles, quail eggs, tofu, pork meatballs, mustard green in a clear pork broth. The spring rolls were a safe option, but nonetheless excellent, as I've had them at other Asian-oriented restaurants. The Kyae Oh looked appeasing on the menu and tasted fantastic (it kind of reminded me of the Philippines' sinigang) when it arrived at my table. Both items arrived quickly upon ordering and my server (who was also Mommy Mom's owner/operator) was kind, gracious and was always smiling. I enjoyed my initial visit and decided to return as soon as possible. Sadly, though, I didn't get around to returning until October, but I still enjoyed a fantastic meal and excellent service from the same owner. During my October visit I had fried dumplings as an appetizer and followed that up with Ohn Noh Khow swae (Coconut Noodle), which are egg noodles in a chicken curry & coconut milk soup base and boiled egg. The dumplings were excellent - fried perfectly and had a great crunch. The Ohn Noh Khow was excellent, too. Considering it was my first time trying this entree, I didn't know how it was supposed to taste, but I enjoyed the combination of curry and coconut milk. The egg noodles meshed well with the soup base and the chicken was tasty and tender. The only thing I noticed is that the Ohn Noh Khow seemed to be a lighter portion than the Kyae Oh I had a few months earlier. I hope that Mommy Mom wasn't already forced to cut back portion size. After two visits, I feel Mommy Mom is a fantastic place. Their facility is clean and organized, its owner is kind, polite and helpful, and he can obviously cook good food. I enjoy Burmese cuisine because of this and look forward to many future visits! Thank you, Mommy Mom! JV
