This WAS once our favorite Pho place! The subpar service received was inexcusable. I went to get Pho two weeks ago with my grandson while my daughter was admitted to the hospital. We were hungry And looking forward to a warm delicious pho to then return to the hospital. The restaurant only had about 4 tables taken, Our sever Andy H. Greeted us and sat us down. I ordered a kids (toddler) veggie rolls and then PHO, our food came and we ate. Our server never came to check on us, and as the restaurant became a bit busier he disappeared. Most of the table around us got served, checked on and received their checks. I started looking around for our server because we had been ready and with a toddler there's not much sitting around one can do. I finally caught his attention and asked for the check, he FLEW by is and just NODED. 10 minutes went by and I had to call another server and asked him to message our server again. NOTHING happened! Another 5 minutes and my grandson started getting antsy, so I get up and asked another server behind the cash register to please get our check. Our server finally appears with a weak apology saying he FORGOT!! At this point I can't even look at him! He stands almost next to me as I pay the lady awaiting a TIP!!? So I tipped him $1.00. Oh yeah ye sloppily packs the left over soup on a container without any sauce, chop sticks or garnishes which is the usual. We won't be back here . Never mind at this place - we hadn't had pho in Lord knows how long. So one day last week, the 'urge' got the better of us, driving us uptown, mask in hand (or "on face" as the case might be). They don't have outdoor seating at Pho 88, as you may know, but tables are properly spaced, and the wait staff are masked. Maybe it's the mischievous side of me thinking this (meaning, take it with a pinch of salt when I say this), but the little sanitizer they had on every table gave me an impression opposite to what was intended: I thought, (again, half-jokingly), oh - are they saying YOU, the customer do all the cleaning and precautions, cuz WE aren't doing it! Like I said, for the 3rd time, it's a joke - don't send any hate mail please. We settled on the Đặc Biệt, #22, and one of the lunch specials, the Xào Kiểu Thái, which they put in quotes as pad thai. If you're expecting that (pad thai), you may be disappointed - in my judgment it's not anything like pad thai, being very red and very sweet, and devoid of the 'wok' flavor that a good pad thai brings, lacking even in the signature peanut taste. The Đặc Biệt was very good: if I have a small complaint (or 2, or 3): it's almost too much meat! I would have traded a tripe or a tendon for a bit more noodles and more beef ball (it's either just half or one that we got). I think next time I might try #18, Tái, Bò Viên, but then I'd get no tendon or tripe. I know - what they need to do is turn this into a "pick your own" pho shop - well, c'mon: nobody's doing it yet! One last point: they really DO need to change the menu prices on their own site. The restaurant has done a great job of socially distancing all the tables so they're 6 feet apart minimum. Our server was quick and brought the food out at a timely manner. I ordered the com dac biet, which is the rice platter that comes with grilled pork, grilled shrimp, grilled beef, egg meatloaf, pork skin, a fried egg, pickled vegetables, and nuoc mam cham. The pork was flavorful and the shrimp was well-cooked. I thought they would come out on the bone but they come out already sliced. The beef was served in tiny strips but they were tender. My favorite thing about this place is its location. You can get your bowl of pho and then walk to ROYALTEA for a delicious post-meal drink (recommend a cheese foam topped one) or King Bao to grab some steamed buns for a little something to munch on later. As the name implies, they are known for their pho and they do a good job. The prices are decent have other things outside of just pho too. The service can be a little bit stalled and delayed at moments so you may have to get their attention, but once you do it's fine. I'll definitely come back and when I do I'll try to get something other than pho to see how it compares. All in all, it's a staple place on Colonial Drive and will probably be here for a good while. read more

Holy... this place is not shy about feeding you meat... Overall this doesn't taste bad. Thick broth, flavored just right (not too sweet or salty), average noodles, very fresh meat, also crispy bean sprouts. All of these are elements of good pho. But holy Jesus, this place give you SO much meat. I swear half of this bowl is filled by meat. I have to admit, this was super satisfying, for probably first half of the bowl. But then it got a bit overwhelming. Also, it might be because of lunch time and they got too busy, the noodles were cooked a little too long, so they lost the chewiness. So I came here for the first time, And I was standing at the door for about a minute or so before we ended up walking to a table. Because I was so engaged in conversation I didn't even know if we were actually directed to a table or if my partner just decided to choose a table. So anyway we went over there and we were greeted very nicely and then we went through the menu. We both ordered what we wanted and the meal came out in no more than 5-7 minutes. The place looks like it never renovated at any point but it was still presentable. If you get lucky enough, you might get a window seat and get the view of traffic ohhhh yeah! When came time to order I ordered the combination pho which only comes in one size. It was good but it tasted like the broth was from overnight (I mean we did come in when they opened) and the meat was super big and hard to chew. I felt they took great care to clean everything with great care, especially given the covid situation. I had their stir fried tofu and vegetables. Solid broth. It was savory and hearty! My only complaint was that the broth wasn't piping hot. Portion was ample and plenty of meat. Veggies was fresh. I hate when pho places give wilted or dying veggies so this was a huge plus and shows they care about what they serve their customers. I also ordered the vietnamese coffee. The menu itself is what you would expect of for a pho restaurant. You can choose from pho and rice dishes, a long with bubble tea or iced coffee. Interior isn't much to brag about but most people don't go to pho restaurants for the interior design. The service is good, not too invasive like most pho places, they only check on you maybe twice at most but that's not too bad in my opinion. Just average overall. My family and I always stop here if we're in Orlando! We typically get pho, bun bo hue, and a grilled pork chop / broken rice dish. The soup is pretty good for both noodle dishes and the portions are a great size. What I do appreciate about this pho restaurant is that they don't skimp you out on the meat like some other restaurants do. They give you a good amount of meat with the pho for a reasonable price.
